Vividores de la política
“Hay dos formas de hacer de la política una profesión. O se vive para la política o se vive de la política”, nos dijo hace ya un siglo el filósofo y político-sociólogo alemán Max Weber. Un siglo después, creo que una gran parte de nuestros políticos viven de la política y no para la política. Es más, no sólo cobran un sueldo por ser políticos, es decir viven de la política, sino que la mayoría son vividores de la política, pues no tienen necesidad de justificar su productividad, ni su razón de ser. No hablo de privar del sueldo a unas personas que están ya enganchadas a lo que se llama la erótica del poder (hasta que no se desenganchen). Tampoco hablo de reducir el número de políticos, aunque es evidente que sobran muchos. Tampoco me estoy refiriendo a los miembros del gobierno ni a los alcaldes, ni tampoco a ese porcentaje de políticos que serían necesarios y bastarían, para el funcionamiento de la vida política. Quien no se haya dado cuenta que estamos en la era de las llamadas telefónicas gratuitas a cualquier parte del mundo, quien no sepa que existen las videoconferencias, quien no sepa que desde su propia casa se puede participar en un debate sin necesidad de viajes, dietas y pérdida de tiempo, quien no se haya percatado de que los chismorreos y descalificaciones o insultos, no son para los debates políticos, sino para ciertos programas de televisión, debe recurrir al médico para que le despierte de su letargo y le convenza de que estamos en el siglo XXI. Política, hay muchísimas personas que estarían dispuestas a hacerla, por no hablar de los millones de jubilados que podrían prestar gratuitamente sus conocimientos, y su experiencia al bien de la sociedad. Es hora de buscar nuevas soluciones. De repente y sin mayor esfuerzo desaparecerían muchos vividores de la política. ¿Es esto pedir peras al olmo? Quizás. Pero alguien dijo “quien no intenta lo imposible, no alcanza lo posible”. José M. Fernández, Director
Welcome to the December issue of La Voz del Resident. I can’t believe it’s already near the end of the year, and what a year it’s been, with the world taking tottering steps towards normality, despite that pesky virus’s determined attempts to thwart us. This year it’s back to celebrating the festive season, with many towns making up for last year’s cancellations with an expansive programme of events and activities over the holidays, many of which we have published in this issue, others will be published on our Facebook page as they are announced. One of the highlights are the Three Kings cavalcades, which take place on the 5th January. These mobile riots see the three kings and their attendants atop their respective floats hurling literally tons of sweets to the eagerly awaiting children of all ages. Let’s hope that everything goes to plan and nothing happens to cause their cancellation again this year. So, let’s take a little look at the year ahead. It is quite a big year politically, with the Andalucia Parliamentary Election sometime between July and October; and with municipal elections in May 2023, you can expect the local political parties to begin to yawn, scratch their backsides, stretch and begin to gear up ready for long campaign sometime shortly after the summer. Don’t forget to check that you are registered to vote, you can do so at your local Padron Office, it is important that you exercise your right to vote. So that just leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I look forward to talking to you again then. Gary Beaumont, Editor

Manilva Las obras en la Calle Miraflores comenzarán la próxima semana, y se culpa del mal estado, a las anteriores actuaciones realizadas Desde el equipo de gobierno se asegura que "los trabajos que darán comienzo a principios de la próxima semana tienen un plazo de ejecución de 5 meses y se realizan con fondos de la Diputación Provincial". Esta mañana con la presencia del alcalde de la localidad, Mario Jiménez, se ha firmado el acta de replanteo, para el inicio inminente de la remodelación de un proyecto muy demandado por la ciudadanía y que ha sido redactado por técnicos municipales. El edil de Infraestructura y Obras, comentó que "se mejorará tanto la estética de la vía, como la funcionalidad; aunque la gran obra, lo más importante
de estos trabajos, es que se conseguirá duplicar la evacuación de aguas pluviales, por lo que, en caso de inundaciones, mejorará notablemente el desagüe de agua de lluvia". Por su parte, el alcalde mostraba su satisfacción por el inicio de estos trabajos que tienen un presupuesto de 325.000 € y "que mejorará el acerado, el pavimento y las luminarias, entre otros elementos". Esta zona necesitaba, según el proyecto redactado, "una remodelación urgente, debido al estado de deterioro que presenta la pavimentación de la calle por las últimas y desafortunadas actuaciones llevadas a cabo en los últimos
años para su renovación, que han dado como resultado un deplorable estado de la vía".
La superficie total sobre la que se actuará esta obra es de 3.870 metros cuadrados, con una longitud
de aproximadamente 170 metros, con un ancho variable de entre 19 y 27 metros.

Málaga, en compañía del párroco local, José Antonio Melgar, para la firma de un nuevo convenio de colaboración entre el Obispado
y el Ayuntamiento para la conservación y puesta en valor de las iglesias parroquiales de Santa Ana y San Luis. El Equipo de Gobierno, destinará 185.000 € para la rehabilitación de los dos edificios, contando con una aportación del Obispado de Málaga de 29.980,47 € de un presupuesto total que asciende a 214.980,47 € , siendo el Obispado quien lleve a cabo la contratación y adjudicación del proyecto y las obras.

La Delegación de Fomento del Empleo estrena web La Delegación de Fomento de Empleo, pone en marcha una nueva web adaptada a dispositivos móviles con la que pretende promocionar y fomentar el empleo local, ayudando a las empresas que tienen la necesidad de cubrir puestos de trabajo y a las personas que se encuentran en situación de desempleo. Las personas que buscan empleo podrán darse de alta de manera gra-
tuita para dar a conocer sus cualidades, subir su curriculum, aptitudes y el sector en que que desea trabajar. Por otro lado, las empresas podrán darse de alta y publicar sus ofertas de empleo, para que los posibles candidatos puedan inscribirse en la misma y hacer su selección de personal, o mediante el buscador de candidatos, podrán realizar búsquedas de personas registradas
que reúnan las cualidades para cubrir sus necesidades. Realizada por la empresa local Opción5 Desarrollos Tecnológicos, incluye opciones adicionales para ayudar a empleadores y candidatos, como la posibilidad de seguir a una empresa determinada, para que, cuando añada una oferta de empleo le llegue una notificación al correo electrónico. En la web se ofrecerá también información de los cursos y talleres puestos en marcha desde este área y el edil de Fomento de Empleo Marcos Ruiz, espera que esta nueva plataforma "pueda ser una herramienta que ayude a mejorar las cifras de desempleo en la localidad y ayude a nuestros vecinos a dar a conocer sus cualidades para que las empresas de nuestro término municipal puedan encontrar el talento que necesitan dentro del municipio".

La " VIII Mushing Race", ya tiene fecha La "VIII Manilva Mushing Race" se celebrará el 19 de Diciembre, en la zona de Pinar de Tábanos organizada por la Delegación de Medio Ambiente, Córdoba Mushing y Triatcan-Mushing Racing Team. La prueba ha sido presentada en el salón de plenos del Ayuntamiento de Manilva con la asistencia de autoridades locales entre las que se encontraban una amplia representación del gobierno local y clubs organizadores. La entrega de trofeos está prevista que se celebre en el Pabellón de Usos Múltiples de Manilva, una vez finalizadas las pruebas. La edil Laura López, anima a los corredores y al público a disfrutar de esta cita en las que se aúnan deporte, naturaleza y el amor por los animales.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva, ha complementado en los semáforos situados junto a la rotonda de Sabinillas, el sistema auditivo. El Semáforo para Invidentes es un sistema que au-
xilia a estas personas en el momento de cruzar una calle. Después, el semáforo más próximo confirma la recepción y finalmente, en el cambio al verde peatonal se activa una señal
de sonido. El alcalde y el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, han supervisado los trabajos, para comprobar la utilidad del sistema.

Comienzan los trabajos de recuperación de la zona de Sierra Bermeja afectada por el incendio
La consejera de Desarrollo Sostenible, ha visitado la zona para anunciar el inicio del primero de los cinco lotes que comprende el plan, dotado con 4,6 millones de euros. Esta primera parte de recuperación se prolongará durante 9 meses y se realizará respetando la naturaleza y teniendo en cuenta la temporada de lluvias. Un
proyecto, según ha explicado la consejera, "avalado por las universidades andaluzas y que servirá como ejemplo para otras zonas del país". Una vez concluida esta primera etapa se iniciará la reforestación, pero siempre teniendo en cuenta las indicaciones de los expertos forestales. El teniente de alcalde de
Casares, Juan Luis Villalón, ha valorado el inicio de los trabajos, destacando que "dan respuesta a las demandas realizadas por el ayuntamiento y por el resto de municipios afectados". Villalón ha insistido en la necesidad de "incluir a Sierra Bermeja en el Parque Nacional de la Sierra de las Nieves para así asegurar su protección".

Campamento de Navidad en el Colegio Blas Infante de Casares
Mañana abre el plazo de inscripción para este campamento que funcionará del 27 al 30 de diciembre y del 3 al 5 de enero. Una iniciativa del Ayuntamiento de Casares para apoyar a las familias en el cuidado de sus hijos durante las vacaciones. Casares volverá a contar este año con un campamento de Navidad en el Colegio Blas Infante, una iniciativa que pone en marcha la Concejalía de Educación del Ayuntamiento de Casares pare apoyar a las familias en el cuidado de sus hijos durante las
vacaciones de los escolares. Este año el campamento funcionará los días del 27 al 30 de diciembre y del 3 al 5 de enero en horario de 9 a 14 horas, aunque la opción de aula matinal, de 8 a 9 horas funcionará si hay un mínimo de solicitantes. Christmas Camp to be held at Blas Infante School in Casares Casares is holding a Christmas camp at the Blas Infante School to help families during the Christmas holiday. Registration is now open for the camp which will run from December 27th to 30th and January 3rd to 5th.Families will be able to use the campo for a full week or single days. The camp hours will be from nine to two and for an extra 1 Euro a day there
will be a morning classroom service from 8 am. Prices for the camp are 25 Euro for the full Christmas period, 15 Euro for the week in December and 10 Euro for the week in January and 4 Euro for single days. Registration is open until December 13th at the Town Hall and the council offices in Casares Cota and Secadero or online.

Un ayuntamiento a la vanguardia de la administración electrónica
Aprobado de forma definitiva el Presupuesto Municipal para 2022
Las cuentas para el próximo año contemplan unos ingresos de más de 109 millones de euros, sitúan los gastos en 108 millones de euros y prevén, por tanto, un superávit de más de 806.000 euros. Las partidas para inversiones productivas incluidas en el Presupuesto crecen hasta los 22,6 millones de euros, la mayor cifra registrada en la historia de la ciudad. Se trata de un documento
con un marcado carácter social, se asegura desde el Consistorio, donde las cuantías económicas vinculadas a ayudas y a programas sociales para los colectivos más vulnerables continúan siendo "partidas ampliables"; esto es, tendrán carácter ilimitado y se podrán incrementar conforme a las necesidades que se produzcan durante el ejercicio económico. Otro de los aspectos relevantes que recoge el
Presupuesto de 2022 es la continuación en el pago de la deuda de 304 millones de euros heredada en junio de 2011. En concreto, se contempla destinar 21 millones de euros durante el próximo ejercicio económico para que este débito quede reducido a 50 millones de euros, lo que implicará haber pagado, a finales de 2022, más del 83% de esos 304 millones de euros de deuda heredada.

Manilva Solicitors IMPUESTO PLUSVALIA – TEMPORALMENTE ANULADO El impuesto sobre el incremento del valor de los terrenos de naturaleza urbana (IIVTNU), más conocido como impuesto de plusvalía municipal, es un tributo directo que gestionan los ayuntamientos. constitucional el método de cálculo de la base imponible de este tributo, por lo que recomendamos a todos lo vendedores que hayan vendido su vivienda recientemente o que reciban la liquidación de este impuesto que contacten con un abogado y estudien la posibilidad de recurrir y no pagar este impuesto. PLUSVALIA TAX - TEMPORARILY CANCELLED The tax for the increase in the value of urban land (IITVTNU), better known as Plus Valia (or the municipal capital gains Tax), which is charged and calculated by the local Town Hall when a property is sold, inherited, donated, or gifted. The tax is levied based on the Town Hall´s revaluation of the land on which a property is built. This is calculated on the difference between the value of the land when the property was purchased
and their revaluation of the value when the property is transferred by sale, inheritance, donation, or gift. On 26th October 2021 the Constitutional Court decided to annul this tax that sellers were required to pay and therefore opened the possibility of avoiding this abusive tax, for those transfer operations signed before the beginning of November 2021, where this tax has not yet been paid.

Una glorieta llevará el nombre del empresario Juan Benítez Vera El Consistorio dedica el nombre de una glorieta al empresario esteponero Juan Benítez Vera, que obtuvo importantes éxitos y reconocimientos en el sector del vino en Nueva York, aunque nacido en Estepona en 1948, Juan Benítez decidió en 1972 marcharse a Estados Unidos, donde fundó una gran empresa y trabajó por el bienestar de la comunidad española en la ciudad de los rascacielos. José María García Urbano ha señalado que el Pleno de la Corporación acordó dedicar un espacio público a Juan Benítez para reconocerle sus logros empresariales y ser “un embajador incansable de Estepona”. A ese respecto, amigos y familiares que han asistido al acto han coincidido en que Juan Benítez siempre “llevó a gala sus raíces esteponeras” y animaba a sus clientes a que visitasen su ciudad de origen. El primer edil ha indicado que Juan Benítez fue un “excelente emprendedor, que consiguió hacerse un hueco importante en el
mundo del vino”, además de ser una persona muy involucrada en mejorar la vida de los españoles que residían en Nueva York. Juan Benítez se establece en Nueva York donde descubre su pasión por el vino, convirtiéndose en el primer hispano sommelier y tuvo el honor de servir a cuatro presidentes de las Estados Unidos y de otros países del mundo, así como a personalidades del mundo del espectáculo

¿De dónde viene nuestro dinero? Tendemos a hablar mucho sobre cómo se gasta el dinero de la comunidad, pero hay que dar una pincelada del funcionamiento del presupuesto y de dónde viene el dinero de la Comunidad. Hay dos aspectos básicos para tener en cuenta: 1. Cuantas más propiedades haya, más bajas serán las cuotas, a más servicios, cuotas más altas. (las comunidades más pequeñas con muchos servicios pagarán más que las grandes comunidades con servicios limitados, por lo que es difícil comparar los costes con otras comunidades).
2. El único ingreso que recibe la comunidad son las cuotas de comunidad (con algunas excepciones), por lo que hay que tener en cuenta siempre el porcentaje de morosos que hay.
un 10% del presupuesto anual. Lo ideal sería que este porcentaje aumentara a medida que envejezca la edificación, ya que serían necesarias más reparaciones y sustituciones de elementos comunes, motores, bombas, etc.
Cuando redactamos un presupuesto anual para una comunidad, tenemos en cuenta los gastos conocidos y contratos vigor (ascensores, jardinería, limpieza, administración, seguros, etc) y estimamos el consumo de agua y electricidad en función de años anteriores. Aparte de esto, la comunidad necesita un margen para mantenimiento, para el que solemos destinar al menos
Aparte de esto, la comunidad debería tener un fondo de rehabilitación, ya que la fachada necesitará reparación y pintura cada 6-8 años, esto incluye la reparación de grietas y juntas de dilatación. Si no tenéis fondo de rehabilitación, cuando llegue el momento, la comunidad tendrá que emitir una derrama, que suele rondar las 15002000€ por propiedad, dependiendo del tipo de
comunidad. Además, necesitareis un “fondo legal”, esto está estipulado en la Ley de Propiedad Horizontal y debe ser una partida independiente en su presupuesto anual. Este sería el gasto total esperado, y esto es lo que se aprueba cada año en la Junta como el presupuesto comunitario y se reparte entre los propietarios dependiendo de su ‘coeficiente’ dentro de la comunidad. Para proyectos y reparaciones importantes (sustituir un ascensor, paisajismo o reformar la piscina), generalmente se debate en junta y se aprueba una derrama, para que todos los propietarios estén al tanto
de este pago único y no se confunda con la cuota ordinaria. Cuando hay morosos a largo plazo, hay que tenerlos en cuenta, ya que no se ingresaría el 100% del presupuesto. Lo que solemos hacer es aumentar el “Fondo Legal” de acuerdo con el porcentaje de morosos que tiene la comunidad. Por lo tanto, si hay un 10% de morosos, se aumentaría el fondo en un 10%, para garantizar que los ingresos cubran los gastos reales y necesarios de la comunidad. Sé que os sentís como si estuvieras pagando más porque otros no pagan, pero el procedimiento para

la reclamación de deudas en España es muy lento, y mientras tanto, hay que pagar las facturas, o la propiedad podría devaluarse debido a una insuficiente inversión y mantenimiento de zonas comunes. La ventaja es que una vez que esos morosos pagan, los fondos entran en la cuenta de la comunidad y ayudarán a la situación económica futura. También hay que recordar que, según la LPH, el presidente tiene que garantizar el correcto mantenimiento del edificio, tiene la capacidad legal para emitir
una derrama si fuera necesaria, y puede ser responsable si los daños son causados a una propiedad privada son debido a la falta de mantenimiento, si tuviera conocimiento, de antemano, de esta situación y no hubiera actuado. Podéis decidir cuál es vuestra inversión y cuál es el valor de la propiedad desde la puerta hacia dentro, pero el valor de su propiedad también dependerá de cómo se mantenga el exterior, y para mantenerlo, el comité y el administrador necesitan asegurarse de que todos
los recursos se gestionan adecuadamente, para obtener el mejor resultado para la comunidad. Esto requerirá esfuerzo, tiempo y energía, pero vale la pena a largo plazo. Where does our money come from? We tend to speak a lot about how community money is spent, but we need to explain how the budget works and where our money comes from. There are two basic aspects to consider: 1. The more properties there are, the lower your fees will be, and the more services you have, the higher your fees will be. (smaller communities with a lot of services will pay more than large communities with limited services, so it is hard to compare costs to other communities). 2. The only income the community receives is community fees (with some exceptions), so the estimated debtors always need to be considered. When we write up a yearly budget for a community, we take into account the known expenses and con-
tracts in place (lifts, gardening, cleaning, administration, insurance, etc) and we estimate water and electricity consumption based on previous years. Apart from this, the community needs a margin for maintenance, we usually put aside 10% of the yearly budget for repairs, but this will increase as the construction ages, as more repairs will be needed. Apart from this, your community should have a refurbishment fund, as the façade will need repairing and painting every 6-8 years, this includes repairing cracks and expansion joints. If you do not have a fund for this, when the time comes, the community will have to issue a cash call, you can expect around 1500-2000€ per property, depending on the type of community. Also, by law, you will need a ‘legal fund’, this is established in the Horizontal Property Law
and should be a separate item in your budget. This would be the overall expected expenditure, and this is what is approved every year at the meeting as the community budget and divided amongst the owners depending on your ‘share’ within the community. For projects and major repairs (replacing a lift, landscaping a garden or refurbishing the pool), the norm is for a cash call to be issued, this would need to be approved at a general meeting, so all owners will be aware of this one off cost. When you have long term debtors, you need to take them into account, as it is income that you can not expect to receive in the upcoming financial term. What we usually do is increase the ‘Legal Fund’ according to the percentage of debtors you have. So, if you have 10% ongoing debt-
ors, you will increase your fund by 10%, to guarantee the necessary income to cover the bills. I know you will feel like you are paying more because others don’t pay, but the current fee recovery procedure in Spain is very slow, and in the meanwhile, bills need to be paid, or the overall value of the property will drop due to insufficient investment and repair. The upside is that once those debtors pay, the funds go into the community account and will help the future cash flow situation. Also take into account that, according to the HPL, the President’s has to ensure the correct maintenance of the building, he has the authorization to legally issue a cash call for repairs if necessary, and can be make liable if damages are caused to private property due to insufficient maintenance, if he has been ad-
vised of the situation beforehand. We need to keep focused, it’s your property from your front door in, but the value of your property will also depend on how the outside is maintained, and to maintain it, the committee and Administrator need to make sure that all resources are managed to obtain the best result for the community. This will take effort, time, and energy, but it is worth while in the long run. Jack Douglas, ex Soldier and Adventurer was back in Africa, this time in Botswana. Once again, he was on the trail of ex IRA enforcer and assassin, Sean Gallagher. Gallagher had mercilessly executed a dear friend, Sylvette Dubois, (“Hot Ice”) in Luanda, Angola several years before and he and his friend and associate Papa Rock had vowed to track him down to ensure he received his just deserts. Reported to be in Botswana, and confirmed, Douglas has put together a new team, some old associates and some new and with the help of General Bruce Kendall, his friend of many years who heads up a clandestine Government security unit in London, is back on the chase which has been ‘cold’ for many years. Douglas uses all his old contacts in Angola including Alfonso Carisco who is now Commissioner and Chief of Police, his friends in CSO De Beers, Government contacts and his substantial wealth to equip a strong chase team, including ex Welsh Guards Officer, Peter Corbett who owns his own helicopter business in Botswana. He is also ably assisted by Colonel Stuart Mitchell who commands the elite Botswana Army anti- poaching unit.One would think with this amount of assistance, intelligence gathering, and firepower available it would be relatively easy to find Gallagher and bring him to justice.Not so, in the Kalahari desert and the Okavango Delta where Gallagher persistently eludes his pursuers with the “luck of the Devil.” Until……………… Read on!
Diego Corriente XV Rogelio La gente copuda, se pondrá Diego, no hagas locuras; te conozco muy bien y, cuando dices lo que has dicho, algo muy grave estás planeando dijo Jabalí mirando a su amigo, aunque más que amigo, era su protegido; cargo que no le había dado nadie, pero Jabalí, a sus más de cuarenta años, se había erigido en protector de aquel chico que, aunque un hombre, bien podía ser su hijo. A pesar de las palabras de su lugarteniente, Diego no soltó prenda sobre sus planes concebido en las últimas horas y, no era cuestión de involucrar a nadie de su cuadrilla. Más bien se trataba de una especie de reto que se había propuesto hacer, aunque los peligros eran mucho; Diego no tenía edad
para pensar en semejantes contrariedades. Con la certidumbre de saber, que los perseguíres intentarían darles caza en Sierra Morena; el grupo inició el regreso a Sevilla por caminos pocos transitados. A menos de una veintena de kilómetros de la capital andaluza, la cuadrilla hizo un alto en el camino para reponer fuerzas y darle un descanso a las monturas. Cuando la noche fue completa, volvieron a ponerse en marcha alumbrados por una generosa Luna llena y un cielo carente de nubes. Todos marchaban en silencio porque nada había que decir salvo que fuera necesario. El canto del cárabo, el búho y alguna otra ave rapaz nocturna, eran los sonidos que se mezclaban
con el de los cascos de los caballos al golpear el duro suelo. Rondaba las once de la noche, cuando la cuadrilla fraccionada en parejas prudentemente separadas, cruzó el puente de barcas y se reunieron en la plaza del Altozano. Una vez todos reunidos; Diego les conminó a estar presentes en el lugar en el que habían descansados hacía un par de horas, a la misma hora en dos días. Si por algún motivo, alguno de ellos no podía acudir, lo trasmitiera al compañero que tuviera más cercano. Cuando estemos reunidos, esperaremos una hora al que se haya rezagado, antes de continuar nuestro camino hacia Monesterio. Allí tengo conocidos que nos dará albergue du-
rante esa noche, luego, al amanecer, continuaremos el plan trazado que, ya os contaré una vez reunidos en el lugar que os he dicho dijo Diego Corriente. ¿Y por qué no nos dices los planes que tienes ahora? Al fin y al cabo, todos somos gente de confianza dijo Curro, un hombre de unos 30 años primo de Miguelito de Antequera. No es desconfianza, Curro, pero imagina por un momento, que se nos va la mano con el vino y decimos algunas cosas que puede poner en peligro a la cuadrilla; o que, uno de nosotros, es apresado y forzado a delatar nuestros planes. Incluso, que le contemos a alguna mujer con la que creemos tener confianza lo que pensamos hacer y
ella, pensando que está alabando a su hombre y lo admira, lo confiesa a su comadre le respondió Diego, que continuó con sus explicaciones. No, no podemos correr riesgos. Ahora bien, si no estáis conformes con lo dicho; siempre se puede hacer una votación para elegir un nuevo dirigente, no jefe, pues, ya sabéis que no me gusta que me digáis jefe ni nada parecido. Cualquiera de vosotros, podéis presentaros para dirigir a la cuadrilla; además, sabéis que, si alguno tiene una buena idea que nos pueda hacer ganar un poco de dinero, nada más que tiene que exponerla y someterla a la decisión del grupo, como ocurrirá con mis planes, cuando dentro de dos días nos reunamos.

Saint George Charity continues its Christmas Campaign 2021
The Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George is continuing its 2021 Charity Christmas Campaign, with a number of aims which include the Children’s Gift Campaign; the Estepona Social Kitchen Christmas Dinner; and the continuance of our Feed a Family (formerly Feed a Child). The aim is to raise 12,000 euros (if we raise more, that will be even better)
through a number of events and activities, which include: The Xmas burpee challenge, 1200m of burpees (team challenge including kids) at the Pueblo Nuevo rugby ground (more details soon); the annual Pub Quiz at the Hairy Lemon in Saturday 27th November, which was a great success; The Boxing Day Swim, and much more, all of which will be published on So-

Tiendas benéficas St George La organización benéfica St George cuenta con tres tiendas benéficas, dos en Sabinillas, Manilva y otra en La Cancelada, Estepona. En Sabinillas, una de las tiendas vende ropa, zapatos, sombreros y accesorios de segunda mano, mientras que la otra vende una amplia gama de muebles usados, objetos decorativos, artículos para el hogar, libros, CDs, DVDs, etc. En la tienda de Cancelada se pueden encontrar todos los mismos tipos de artículos que en las dos anteriores además de muebles más grandes como sofás y camas.
Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas, hay nuevos artículos en todas las tiendas a diario. ¡Pásate por las tiendas regularmente para no perderte ninguna ganga! Además de contar con algunos artículos geniales, las tiendas benéficas de St George también ofrecen la opción de alquilar algunos de sus ofrendas como sillas de ruedas, muletas, cunas de viaje, etc. La organización de la tienda siempre agradece las donaciones de artículos usados de calidad, y puede organizar su recogida si fuese necesario. Saint George Charity Shops
The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona. In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; while the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds, dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of
furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that bargain. The shop management welcomes donations of quality secondhand items and can arrange collection of larger items that cannot be brought in a car, or where appropriate. Please bring your donations between the hours of 10.30 am and 1 pm, avoiding rainy days when our patio items have to be stored inside and therefore limit space.

RBL Duquesa Branch Remembrance Period November 2021 Duquesa Branch of the Royal British Legion participated in two events marking this year’s Remembrance Period. Firstly, on Armistice Day, a Wreath was laid at the single Commonwealth War Grave within the Cementerio Municipal antiguo de Algeciras. This was at the niche of Sgt Eric Vernall RAF whose aircraft crashed in Algeciras on 10 July 1942.Text, letter In attendance at this ceremony were Branch Members, Angel Martinez Leon, (el Concejal Delegado de Parque’s y Jardines, Cementerios y Playas), Dean Tyler Shelton and the Su-
perintendent of the cemetery and his staff. On Remembrance Sunday Branch Members also attended the Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial, Line Wall Road, Gibraltar where a Wreath
was laid on behalf of the Branch by Sharon Wrout. After returning from Gibraltar the members were kindly hosted by Andy Moore at Ryders Bar. Special thanks go out to Phillip Borge, Chief Protocol Officer to the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Happy Transfers Taxi service and Andy Moore. Aquí van nuestras propuestas para estas fechas: Hay que planificar las comidas y las cenas navideñas, adelantándose a comprar todos aquellos productos más caros habitualmente, antes de que suban de precio en los centros comerciales. Una buena idea sería congelarlos y aguardar al día correspondiente para cocinarlos. De verdad que ahorraréis mucho dinero si no compras en plenas fechas navideñas. Considerar la compra de algunos productos ya congelados. En el mercado, y con las debidas garantías
alimentarias, normalmente no son tan caros como los productos frescos. Y guardan el mismo nivel de calidad. Hay que agudizar el ingenio, planificando menús creativos low cost. Para terminar este año de recetas, he pensado presentaros dos platos que pueden ser tremendamente sabrosos para terminar este duro año 2021. Uno es una receta de Arbolitos de Navidad de hojaldre y jamón, a lo Italiano para 12 personas y que puedes preparar en 15 minutos. Con esta preparación paso a paso saldrá perfecta como entrante fácil y rápido para Navidad. Cocción: Hojaldre rectangular 1 rollo, Jamón cocido 50 Grs. y Aceite 4 cucharadas. PREPARACIÓN: Desenrollar el hojaldre rectangular y ponerlo sobre el papel de horno. Cortarlo en tiras, todas del mismo tamaño. Cortar las lonchas de jamón cocido en tiras del mismo tamaño que las de

Feed a Family campaign gets off to a great start! I have been involved with the Saint George charity (based in Sabinillas) for over seven years, helping to raise funds to feed local underprivileged children and families. Each year, I try to create new challenges and fundraisers to meet the ever growing need of our local community. So far we’ve had a great response from the community on the Costa del Sol and Gibraltar with the campaign kicking off with “The Gibraltar Challenge - Surviving Jojo”
in which I took six members of the Gibraltar Police Force out of their comfort zone with a programme of strength and fitness tasks, all in aid of the campaign. This was followed on Saturday 27th November with the annual Hairy Lemon Charity Quiz, which raised over 4,000 euros on the day! A big thank you goes to Lawrence and the team at the Hairy Lemon; Lee Doyle who provided the sound and music; and Katherine Grant from Image Graphics, who

El CD Estepona a por el ascenso a Tercera RFEF La pasada campaña, la temporada del Coronavirus para el deporte, fue absolutamente injusta para el CD Estepona. Todo lo que se derivó de la pandemia afectó al equipo de la Costa Del Sol, que derivó a su descenso a la División de Honor Senior. Una pena porque el retorno a las categorías nacionales había costado lo suyo. La labor comandada por Juan Carlos Puertas en la anterior campaña se vio muy afectada, tanto que se perdió la categoría. Ya en el verano la junta directiva que preside Paco Mena, apostó por un joven técnico, Hugo Díez Boscovich, formado en Málaga y con una buena trayectoria en las categorías inferiores de la AD Malaka, uno de los equipos de barrios más conocidos. La apuesta fue
refrendada por el Grupo Primarelli, que lleva desde hace unos años la gestión deportiva y económica del club. Y siendo sinceros, los rojillos del Estepona van como un tiro. Con el final del mes de noviembre son 11 las jornadas disputadas del campeonato liguero. Y las cifras lo dicen todo. Son los indiscutibles líderes de su grupo y se tendrían que torcer mucho las cosas para no lograrse el ansiado regreso a la ahora llamada Tercera RFEF. El equivalente a la antes llamada Tercera División del fútbol español. Los datos son espectaculares. Se han jugado 11 jornadas y el CD Estepona suma 29 de los 33 disputados. Se han logrado 9 victorias y 2 empates. Afortunadamente no se conoce la derrota y eso que se ha
visitado el campo del CD Rincón, entre otros. En casa, en el Estadio Municipal Francisco Muñoz Pérez, se han ganado los seis partidos jugados. La racha es tan grande que se ha llegado ya a las 8 victorias consecutivas (incluida la jornada del 28 de noviembre). La capacidad goleadora es buena, con 26 goles anotados, pero aún es mejor la labor defensiva. Su portero Goyo sólo ha encajado 6 goles, algo increíble en cualquier categoría del fútbol. ¿Y cuál es el misterio del éxito de este equipo?. En palabras para LVR, el entrenador Hugo Díez lo define muy fácil “con trabajo. Parece sencillo, pero es lo único que funciona en el mundo del fútbol. Tengo un sistema de juego muy claro, que tienen que asumir los jugadores. La clave es defender bien y aprovechar nuestras oportunidades de gol, simple pero no fácil de cumpli”. El entrenador del cuadro esteponero también es de los que apoyan
el trabajo de la cantera “los chicos del filial y del juvenil tendrán su oportunidad a lo largo de la temporada. La liga es muy larga y siempre hay necesidades inesperadas como lesiones y otros problemas. Hay que estar preparados para todo”. El emister quiere evitar euforias “esto es largo y todavía no hemos logrado nada. Si nos creemos que estamos ya en otra categoría empezarán nuestros problemas. Pero estoy
tranquilo porque sé que este vestuario tiene la cabeza en su sitio y sabe lo que realmente hay que hacer. Ir pasito a pasito…”. Hugo no quiere hacer números para asegurar el soñado ascenso a la Tercera RFEF “en su momento veremos y analizaremos la situación. Pero ahora esto no me quita el sueño”. En la pelea estarán varios equipos, pero ahora es claro líder el CD Estepona, al que no hay quien le tosa.
