Doing our bit for the Planet

La peligrosa tentación de eternizarse en el poder El ex presidente de Uruguay José “Pepe” Mujica suele decir: “naturalmente, el hombre es un bicho bastante vanidoso, y es fácil a quien le toca el liderazgo, caer en la miopía de creerse que el centro de la historia es él cuando no compone otra cosa, que un episodio de historieta”.

Se refiere sin duda a una de las razones por las cuales los líderes políticos, se aferran tanto al poder político, y buscan afanosamente perpetuarse, algo que va acompañado de una ambición desmedida y adicción al poder, que deja emerger comportamientos casi dictatoriales. Quedarse eternamente en el poder supone contar con un carácter de ese calibre, y la utilización de estrategias sofisticadas, para justificar los fines menos santos.

La reflexión viene a cuento, porque la lista es larga, pero la pregunta es la misma: ¿por qué los líderes políticos quieren quedarse en el poder? Todos, de una u otra manera quieren perpetuarse en el poder, atornillados, salvo raras excepciones.

La tendencia humana de extender los mandatos casi hasta la eternidad no es nueva, viene de lejos y los dirigentes la reiteran… se equivocan, pero no aprenden.

Con el paso del tiempo dejan de escuchar a la gente, no quieren identificar los fines de ciclo, ni los momentos oportunos para retirarse con dignidad. Tampoco dan paso a quienes no sean sus propios allegados, porque la desconfianza es enorme y las traiciones fuertes.

Casi todos los liderazgos, especialmente si son carismáticos, proponen cambios de paradigmas. Muchos, incluso, provocan caos y admiten el desorden por sus características populares, al principio. Pero hay un momento de quiebra en la construcción, y es cuando el líder deja de tener las características que lo convirtieron en modelo, la curva comienza a descender y antes de llegar al final, el desorden da por tierra con todo. Entonces, el líder ya no puede frenar el caos, que era su arma principal.

La vida en sí misma, la naturaleza en su proceso de nacimiento, desarrollo, decaimiento y muerte, marcan a diario que no solo todo cambia con el tiempo, sino que el fin de las cosas, de las relaciones, de los sistemas, de los proyectos, de los gobiernos, de las épocas y de los liderazgos, es inexorable.

Welcome to the November issue of La Voz del Resident. So the clocks have gone back, and winter approaches, although fortunately we don’t experience the kind of cold that our friends and family in more northerly climes have to contend with.

Whilst we might be thinking of colder temperatures, it’s global warming which is really centre stage at the moment with the COP26 Conference being held in Glasgow as I am writing this.

Whilst the world’s leaders and their delegations grapple with huge changes which they have to make to their behaviour to claw us back from the horror of climate collapse, many of us consider our role as miniscule, but that’s not so, if we all make even small adjustments to our behaviour, collectively we can make a difference.

Cutting down on waste is an easy thing for us to do, I don’t want to be accused of virtue signalling but in the Beaumont household we have cut down our waste considerably.

We have done this in a number of ways, firstly we try and buy all our fruit and vegetables loose, not prepackaged, and all vegetable waste goes into the worm farm which sits in the corner of our utility room, it’s thousands of residents can easily go through a couple of kilos of vegetable peelings, coffee grounds, tea bags, etc., each week, with any surplus going into a compost bin in the garden along with any garden waste, and regular contributions of coffee grounds from a local cafe.

The result of this is we probably put one small carrier bag of waste in the council bins every other week, along with all our plastics, paper, and glass into their respective recycling bin.

Not only does this reduce dramatically the amount of waste that has to be dealt with by the local authorities, it also provides us with top quality compost and liquid feed for our garden.

So just stop and think about what you can do to cut down on waste, and together we can make a difference.

Manilva Comienza la legalización de los diseminados rurales

El concejal de Urbanismo del Ayuntamiento de Manilva, Marcos Ruiz, ha informado que se han legalizado hasta la fecha 3 viviendas, en el municipio.

Tras la entrada en vigor hace dos años de la Ley sobre esta materia, desde la delegación de Urbanismo y desde la Gerencia del mismo área, se trabaja para facilitar y hacer posible la regularización de estas edificaciones.

Ruiz apunta además que

"a la próxima Gerencia de Urbanismo, se llevará la situación de 10 asimilados fuera de ordenación, unas viviendas aisladas a título individual, aunque no serán las únicas, ya que gracias a la mejora del articulado de la propia gerencia, se trabaja de una manera mucha más eficiente para conseguir que todas las viviendas en esta situación, que cumplan con los requisitos para acogerse a este Real Decreto, puedan normali-

zar su situación, lo que les otorgaría seguridad jurídica en sus viviendas".

Por otro lado, el edil se refirió a lo avanzado de las agrupaciones de viviendas de la zona Poligono 7, desde Manilva hasta el instituto "Las Viñas", así como el Habitat Rural de la Vega, desde la Charca de La Mina, hasta la A7, asegurando que Hidralia "ya ha facilitado los planos por donde deben discurrir las redes".

El Consistorio avanza en el proyecto del sendero que unirá los núcleos de Manilva y Sabinillas La delegada Territorial en Málaga de la Consejería de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Ordenación del

Territorio de la Junta de Andalucía, ha visitado Manilva para firmar el acuerdo de cesión al Ayuntamiento, de esta Consejería, del tramo de la A-377, que corresponde al trayecto entre los núcleos de Manilva y Sabinillas.

Son 2.100 metros de carretera en la que está proyectada una senda de conexión de utilización pública.

El equipo de gobierno local que con Mario Jiménez al frente tiene como objetivo para el mismo convertirlo en peatonal y que se pueda transitar, a pie o en bicicleta, desde Manilva a Sabinillas.

El Consistorio pide protecciones acústicas para la A7 El edil de urbanismo llevará a la próxima reunión de la Gerencia de este área, el impacto que provoca el ruido ambiental del tráfico y las actividades industriales y recreativas.

Marcos Ruiz, quiere poner en marcha acciones que eviten en lo posible las alteraciones que puede pro-

vocar en la salud este tipo de situaciones y realizará un estudio que recoja esta esta situación en el municipio, como es el caso de la Autovía A7 a su paso por el término municipal de Manilva.

El edil manifestó que "en esta zona se encuentran empadronadas 4.903 per-

sonas, por lo que entendemos que esta es una cuestión prioritaria dado que se trata de una zona de edificación densa y uso predominantemente residencial que supera en gran medida el nivel sonoro. Por este motivo, y dado que durante los últimos años se ha incrementado el uso de barreras acústicas a lo largo de las vías de penetración y travesías urbanas, entendemos imprescindible la colocación de pantallas acústicas entre los puntos kilométricos referidos".

Por ello asegura "se trasladará esta petición al Plan de Acción elaborado por la Junta de Andalucía y los Mapas Estratégicos de Ruido de las carreteras de la Provincia de Málaga para que actúen lo antes posible".

Campaña "Apuesta Por Tu Comercio En Navidad" La Delegación de Comercio pone en marcha la campaña de promoción del comercio local “Apuesta por tu Comercio en Navidad”.

Con esta campaña el Ayuntamiento de Manilva quiere "intentar minimizar el impacto de la difícil situación económica que atraviesan los comercios y establecimientos locales a causa de la pandemia de Covid19".

A la campaña se han destinado 15.000 euros, con el objetivo de activar y promocionar el consumo en los establecimientos participantes en la misma.

A la misma pueden sumarse todos los comercios, bares y restaurantes del

municipio que se inscriban hasta el día 19 de noviembre, y que cumplan con los requisitos establecidos en las bases.

Las bases de la campaña estarán disponibles para su consulta en el tablón de anuncios de la sede electrónica del Ayuntamiento de Manilva (https://manilva.sedelectronica.es/ board) El cliente solo tendrá que pedir su participación en los comercios adheridos a la campaña cuando haga una compra superior a 10 €, rellenarla y depositarla en la urna del establecimiento hasta el 28 de noviembre de 2021.

Serán 150 las papeletas premiadas. La persona cuyo nombre figure en la papeleta ganadora resultará agraciada con 2 bonos de 50 €, por valor total de 100 €, para consumir "exclusivamente en los comercios, bares y restaurantes adheridos a la campaña".

Todos los grupos municipales aprueban la bajada del IBI

Equipo de gobierno y oposición han votado a favor de una nueva bajada de impuestos a los vecinos de Manilva, así el recibo del Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles (IBI), sufrirá una bajada porcentual, a la que debe de sumarse la apli-

cada por tener domiciliado en cuenta bancaria este impuesto.

La bajada aplicada se explica de manera gráfica, poniendo de referencia un recibo de 500 € de IBI, que tendría una rebaja de 50€, es decir, se pagaría 450 €.

Continúan abiertas las inscripciones para formar parte del programa deportivo

La delegación de Deportes recuerda a los vecinos que pueden formar parte de los programas de la temporada 2021/22. A punto de cumplir el primer mes del curso, la respuesta de la ciudadanía está siendo muy positiva y el edil de esta área, Manolo Gil, anima a los que aún no se deciden, a inscribirse en la “Escuelas deportivas para niños” y los programas “Adultos en forma” y Jubilados en forma”.

Durante esta temporada los más pequeños tienen a su disposición actividades como balonmano, expresión corporal, gimnasia rítmica, multideporte y pádel. En este caso solo se pueden matricular para el curso completo.

“Adultos en forma” cuenta con una gran variedad de disciplinas deportivas como bodyfitness, circuito fitness, cross avanzado y de

iniciación, funcional, gap, hit, jumping, padel, pilates, spining, streching, tenis, tonificación, trx, yoga y zumba.

Y en “Jubilados en forma”, los más veteranos podrán participar en escuela de espalda, gimnasia mayores, gimnasia preventiva y terapéutica, petanca y zumba.

Tanto los adultos como los jubilados o pensionistas tienen la posibilidad de inscribirse de manera mensual, trimestral o curso completo.

Duquesa Golf Club raises 300 euros for ADANA

The Duquesa Golf Club held its Captain's Night Prize Giving Dinner at the club on the 23rd October.

Entertainment was provided by a band put together by music executive Brian Berg featuring UK singer/guitarist Howard Sama, who was supported on bass by local musician Bee Menn, Les Carter on vocals and Speedy Mullan on vocals and harmonica, with Brian

himself on drums.

With most of the band not having gigged for a couple of year's, there was a frantic three days of rehearsal, but they were happy to put in the work as the event was in aid of the Adana dog rescue centre, which suffered extensive damage during the Sierra Bermeja.

Everyone had a great night and raised 300 euros for the charity.

Abierto el plazo de inscripción para la VII BTT Manilva El próximo 5 de diciembre se llevará a cabo la VII edición de la BTT de Manilva con un recorrido de 47 km.

Organizado por la Delegación de Deportes, dirigida por Manolo Gil, y el Club Ciclista de Manilva, cuenta con la colaboración de Protección Civil, y numerosas asociaciones y empresas como Harman y Nutrisport.

En cuanto a las inscripciones, si las realizan antes del 31 de octubre, tendrán un coste de 15 euros; del 1 al 20 de noviembre costarán 20 euros y del 21 de noviembre al mismo día de la prueba, 25 euros.

Podrán participar en las categorías que van desde cadete hasta máster 60, tanto masculina como fe-

menina. Los inscritos recibirán la bolsa del corredor que incluirá una camiseta técnica cuyas tallas se garantizan si se apuntan antes del 30 de octubre.

Desde la organización se informa también que los corredores que usen bicicleta eléctrica no podrán optar a premio.

Habrá trofeos para el club más numeroso así como para los tres primeros clasificados de cada categoría y una botella de vino de Manilva para los primeros clasificados (excepto cadetes y Junior).

Asimismo, se otorgarán galardones a los tres primeros corredores locales o del CCManilva en cruzar la línea de meta. También se entregará un premio especial de un sector de Strava.

Riders can participate in the categories ranging from cadet to master 60, both male and female. Those registered will receive the rider's bag that will include a technical shirt whose sizes are guaranteed if they sign up before 30th October.

The organization also states that riders who use an electric bicycle will not be eligible for a prize.

There will be trophies for the largest club as well as for the first three classified in each category and a bottle of Manilva wine for the first placed (except cadets and Junior).

Likewise, awards will be given to the first three local or CCManilva riders to cross the finish line. There will also be a special award from Strava.

El Ayuntamiento comprará el suelo del Recinto Ferial Tanto el edil de Urbanismo Marcos Ruiz, como el alcalde Mario Jiménez, confirmaron en el pleno celebrado en los primeros días de este mismo mes de noviembre “el acuerdo con la propiedad para la compra de los terrenos del antiguo Recinto Ferial”.

El anuncio de este acuerdo fue consecuencia de una pregunta de la oposición (IU) que mostró su negativa al destino de 48.000 euros para el acondicionamiento de esta futura zona deportiva, “hasta que la propiedad no sea municipal”.

El actual equipo de gobierno, confirmó el acuerdo con la propiedad de los terrenos y aseguró que “este tema vendrá al próximo pleno ordinario, ya que el precio está fijado por una trabajadora de esta casa y el acuerdo es total”.

Hasta la fecha el Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha invertido en esta zona 6.000.000 de euros a los que deben de sumarse una partida presupuestaria de 132.000 euros existente y otra de 48.000 euros que se aprobó en la sesión plenaria del 3 de noviembre con el voto en contra de Izquierda Unida.

Ante las dudas de una “posible ilegalidad” en el destino de dinero público a una propiedad privada, tanto Ruiz como el propio alcalde aseguraron que “todo

está acordado, pero si los propietarios se volvieran atrás, algo que no contemplamos, el Ayuntamiento tiene los mecanismos necesarios para la expropiación de estos terrenos”.

No ha trascendido en esta sesión plenaria, ni el nombre de la propiedad ni el importe que el Ayuntamiento pagará por este suelo en el que está previsto el desarrollo de un complejo deportivo, que el partido de Mario Jiménez llevaba en su programa electoral.

Desde la concejala de Limpieza, se informa que ya pueden ser utilizados los nuevos contenedores de basura recientemente distribuidos en el municipio.

Desde el Consistorio se solicita que no se utilicen los antiguos, ya que se irán retirando y hay que hacerlo sin restos desechables.

Son 250 nuevos contene-

dores de recipientes metálicos e ignífugos, que tienen una capacidad de 3.000 litros, multiplicando por tres la capacidad de los actuales.

Estos nuevos modelos mejoran la estética, tienen recogida bilateral y debido a su peso, no pueden ser movidos por el viento.

El concejal en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva y Delegado de Mediación, Integración y Residentes Extranjeros en la Mancomunidad, Daniel Muñoz, ha asistido a una importante reunión en la sede del citado ente supramunicipal para tratar asuntos im-

portantes para la Costa del Sol en general y nuestro municipio en particular.

En el encuentro se ha informado sobre el Plan de Inversiones Mancomunados, además de los Presupuesto para 2022. Ambas, herramientas imprescindibles para el desarrollo de

infraestructuras, mejoras en los servicios y creación de empleo.

Muñoz considera que estas partidas supondrán un beneficio para todos, en una etapa ilusionante, ya que la reactivación de la economía es una realidad.

Casares Una serie de televisión, tendrá al municipio entre sus localizaciones

La novela ‘El ojo andaluz’ será una serie de televisión que tendrá Casares entre sus localizaciones.

Su autora, la francesa Héloïse de Flandre, acaba de presentar el libro, un relato ambientado en Estepona y sus alrededores

en 1974 que le sirve como pretexto para sumergirse en el contexto cultural del sur de España.

Héloïse de Flandre es una escritora francesa afincada en la Costa del Sol desde hace 20 años y una enamorada de Casares. Acaba

de publicar su novela ‘El ojo andaluz’ que ya proyecta convertirse en una serie de televisión y en la que tiene previsto incluir a Casares como localizaciones.

Así se lo contó al alcalde, Pepe Carrasco, que asistió a la presentación del libro.

En "El ojo andaluz" la autora cuenta la historia de Marie, una chica francesa de 18 años que en 1974 disfruta de unas vacaciones con sus padres en Estepona. En la playa de La Rada, Marie encuentra un chico andaluz muy guapo, Paco, y ambos se enamoran.

De vuelta a Francia, la chica se da cuenta de que está embarazada. Decide tener el niño pero no dice nada al padre. Nacerá una niña, Manuela, que 30 años después, decide buscar a su padre... y aterriza en Estepona.

Una historia de ficción que, como cuenta Héloïse de Flandre, le sirve para sumergirse en el contexto cultural de una familia española y mostrar las diferencias culturales con su Francia natal a través de muchas anécdotas y aventuras que ha vivido ella, sus amigos y familiares.

Recupera la medalla de oro de su padre, perdida hace años Rafael Lavigne no sale de su asombro. Recibió una llamada del Complejo Ambiental Costa del Sol que le anunciaba que habían encontrado la medalla de su padre, uno de los pocos recuerdos que le quedaban de él y que había perdido hace años.

La Oficina de Objetos Perdidos ha entregado una medalla de oro localizada en los residuos de la planta de tratamiento a su propietario, vecino de San Pedro Alcántara, tras indagar partiendo de las inscripciones que tiene la pieza.

La medalla presenta en una de sus caras el nombre “Javier Lavigne”, un número de teléfono y la ciudad, “Marbella”. La otra cara no muestra ninguna imagen, ni inscripción y se encuentra muy rallada por el paso del tiempo.

El personal de la instalación conocía el apellido Lavigne, natural de Marbella, una familia muy conocida en el municipio. Incluso te-

nía contactos con algunos de sus miembros, por lo que se pusieron en contacto con ellos y finalmente descubrieron que la joya pertenecía a Javier Lavigne, ya fallecido, y que había pasado a su hijo Rafael.

Rafael explica que perdió esta medalla hace muchos años. Sospecha que le fue sustraída o que la extravió.

“Para mí fue un duro golpe, porque era el único objeto personal que tenía de mi padre, además de un reloj.

Y me sentí muy culpable por su pérdida”, recuerda.

Su padre, Javier Lavigne, era propietario, junto a su hermano, del supermercado Costa Bella, situado a espaldas del parque La Alameda de Marbella. Falleció con 55 años de cáncer.

No es habitual que una joya ofrezca tantos detalles de su propietario: nombre, apellido, teléfono, ciudad.

Rafael indica que su padre era alérgico y que por esa razón la pieza contiene

tantos datos personales.

“Antes era habitual que se indicara este tipo de cosas en las medallas porque no había servicios de comunicación y sanitarios tan rápidos como ahora”, aclara.

Curiosamente Rafael comenta que días antes de la llamada del Complejo

Ambiental Costa del Sol para informarle del hallazgo, había recordado esta medalla. “Creo que estaba pensando en lo que me queda de mi padre y en qué le voy a dejar yo a mi hijo y a mi nieto, y recordé la medalla. Es algo asombroso. Las vueltas que habrá

dado esta medalla y al final ha vuelto a mí. Como si mi padre quisiera que esta pieza esté conmigo”.

Rafael Lavigne dice que se volverá a colgar esta medalla, “con una buena cadena, para que no se pierda más”.

ladado los detalles de la nueva infraestructura, así como de los servicios que se ofrecen allí, a los otros miembros de la corporación municipal, que han podido conocer de cerca el nuevo edificio y trasladar sus opiniones e impresiones al respecto.

En la visita se ha realizado también una explicación mediante planos de cómo quedará la Guardería de la Costa, que estará en la planta baja del mismo edificio, y prestará servicio próximamente a los niños de 0 a 3 años de este núcleo poblacional.

La Costa del Sol sigue atrayendo fuertes inversiones para el sector turístico. El último ejemplo está en Estepona, donde dos complejos hoteleros de lujo se van a desarrollar con un desembolso de 630 millones de euros por parte de la compañía Globalia.

"Full Life Resort" ha sido incluido en la Aceleradora de Proyectos de la Junta de Andalucía para llevar a buen puerto esta idea.

El primer proyecto está situado en los entornos de Arroyo Vaquero. Allí se plantea la construcción de un complejo turístico unificado de alta gama. Globalia pretende levantar un hotel de 1.400 habitaciones, un segundo edificio de 600 apartamentos y 105 villas unifamiliares. Y hay que hacerlo casi desde cero, ya que para hacerlo realidad es necesario ejecutar im-

portantes infraestructuras sobre los arroyos Vaquero y de la Galera para llevar hasta allí los servicios básicos de la ciudad.

Para este proyecto se calcula una inversión inicial de 500 millones de euros y la previsión es que se generen 985 puestos de trabajo estables.

Por otro lado, el segundo proyecto es en Guadalobón. Allí la compañía tiene previsto la construcción de otro complejo turístico de lujo, pero en esta ocasión estará todo unificado. Se levantará un hotel de 610 habitaciones, 405 apartamentos y 10 villas unifamiliares. Se calcula una inversión inicial, incluidas todas las infraestructuras, urbanización y edificaciones, de 130 millones de euros. En este caso se estima que se generen 460 puestos de trabajo estables.

El pasado 13 de enero de 2021, el representante legal de Globalia presentó la documentación necesaria en la Junta de Andalucía para incluirla en la Unidad Aceleradora de Proyectos.

El vicepresidente andaluz, Juan Marín, ha anunciado su inclusión este martes, tras el Consejo de Gobierno.

En esta Unidad Aceleradora están incluidas aquellas medidas que, por su importancia o naturaleza, contribuyan a la consecución de empleo estable y de calidad en todos los sectores de producción, así como el aprovechamiento y la potenciación de los recursos naturales y económicos bajo el principio de sostenibilidad. Se incluyen también los proyectos de promoción de la inversión pública y privada.

El Ayuntamiento pone en marcha el primer huerto urbano escolar de la ciudad

El nuevo espacio se ubica en una parcela municipal de 1.000 metros cuadrados junto al colegio El Carmen, y podrá ser utilizado por los alumnos de todos los centros educativos. El objetivo es que aprendan a diferenciar los distintos árboles frutales y plantas que se vayan cultivando en este entorno, entre otras cuestiones del cultivo y la

naturaleza.

El Ayuntamiento suministra las herramientas básicas para el mantenimiento de los jardines como rastrillos, carretillas, azadones, regaderas, mangueras para riego o espuertas, entre otros y ya han sido plantados árboles frutales variados a fin de que los escolares conozcan los diversos tipos, entre los

que hay aguacates, chirimoyos, mangos, nísperos, albaricoques, limoneros, naranjos, mandarinos y manzanos. En los bancales se realizará la siembra de 800 unidades de plantas de temporada como coliflor, brócoli, coles, cebollas y lechugas de distintas variedades. Todo el recinto está delimitado por una valla perimetral.

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que Estepona celebrará su primera Jura de Bandera de Personal Civil. Será el 13 de noviembre, a las 12 horas, en el estadio municipal Francisco Muñoz Pérez.

Organizada por la Base

Aérea de Málaga del Ejército del Aire, en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento de Estepona, en ella podrán participar un máximo de 600 personas, de nacionalidad española y mayores de edad.

José María García Urbano, ha destacado “la magnífica oportunidad que tenemos en este acto para manifestar nuestro compromiso y lealtad a España a través de uno de nuestros símbolos más importantes: la bandera”.

El Ayuntamiento restaura la vidriera del patio central de la Casa de Las Tejerinas El concejal adscrito al área de Patrimonio Histórico, Daniel García, ha anunciado que el Ayuntamiento de Estepona está llevando a cabo la restauración de la vidriera que cubre el patio central de la Casa de Las Tejerinas, que se ha consolidado como un espacio expositivo de referencia en el casco histórico.

El edil ha indicado que la vidriera, que fue realizada en 1988 por el maestro vidriero Alberto Cascón Martín, es “uno de los tesoros de este inmueble”.

Tras realizar un exhaustivo estudio de la obra y de los materiales, la empresa local Vitromar, responsable de los trabajos, está llevando a cabo la restauración de la vidriera.

Las distintas piezas que la

componen se están desmontando y se trasladan al estudio para su tratamiento. Los profesionales van determinando qué proceso de limpieza requieren, dependiendo de su estado de conservación, de la composición del vidrio y de la estabilidad de su capa pictórica. Entonces deciden si la limpieza se realiza en seco con bisturí o elementos no abrasivos o con medios húmedos (agua destilada o desionizada).

Una vez que se vaya ejecutando la restauración y limpieza de las mismas, se va procediendo a la instalación nuevamente en el patio central. Los trabajos se prolongarán durante las próximas semanas, según ha indicado Daniel García.

El Ayuntamiento ofrece talleres gratuitos para la prevención de adicciones en niños y adolescentes El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que va a ofrecer la actividad gratuita ‘Talleres con Familias’, basada en la prevención de conductas adictivas en niños y adolescentes. Está organizada por el Centro de Drogodependencias y Adicciones de Estepona en colaboración con la Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción.

Serán tres talleres que se impartirán en el Centro Cultural ‘Padre Manuel’ de 10.00 a 12.00 horas.

Así, el primero de ellos, denominado ‘Familias y Problemas de Drogas’, tratará las conductas adictivas a sustancias en los jóvenes y la forma de abordarlas en nuestros hogares, tratando situaciones relacionadas con adolescentes, roles y tiempos de ocio, entre otros. Tendrá lugar los días 10, 17 y 24 de noviembre y 1 de diciembre.

El segundo titulado ‘Cuando jugar es un problema’

se celebrará el 13 de diciembre y versará sobre el problema del juego de apuestas en menores, además de la adicción a las tecnologías y al juego online.

Y el último, ‘Nuevas formas de fumar’, abordará el uso de las cachimbas, los cigarrillos electrónicos y vapeadores, así como el riesgo del uso de los mismos y las herramientas de

prevención.

Manilva Solicitors ¿POR QUÉ NO ES UNA BUENA IDEA PONER UNA PROPIEDAD INMOBILIARIA A NOMBRE DE UNA EMPRESA? No implica ventajas fiscales, pero sí muchos gastos y responsabilidades tributarias.

En esta ocasión queremos aclarar una cuestión sobre la que nuestro despacho recibe a menudo consultas.

Muchos clientes nos dicen que les han recomendado constituir una sociedad limitada para comprar propiedades en España o comprar las acciones de una S.L. ya existente que posea una propiedad.

Si usted está pensando en comprar una propiedad inmobiliaria (ya sea para su propio uso o como inversión), evite hacerlo a nombre de una sociedad limitada, ya que estas se usan para administrar negocios

y no para ser propietarias de bienes inmobiliarios.

A pesar de lo que muchas empresas financieras o de inversiones puedan decirle sobre las ventajas de las sociedades limitadas, le podemos confirmar que tener una no implica ninguna ventaja tributaria o ahorro, y sí muchos gastos extra y posibles responsabilidades fiscales.

Lo más conveniente para usted es poner sus propiedades a su nombre. Es mucho más sencillo, barato y seguro. Le aconsejamos que no funde una sociedad o compre las acciones de una sociedad que ya posea

una propiedad, y se limite a comprar propiedades directamente. Como hemos mencionado, la titularidad de una sociedad limitada implicaría pagar impuestos y el riesgo de que se le derive la responsabilidad de los deberes y compromisos que esta pudiera haber asumido anteriormente.

Otro punto a tener en cuenta además de los gastos y riesgos de fundar o comprar una sociedad limitada es que el propietario sería responsable de pagar los gastos anuales de mantenimiento. Los años pasan muy rápido y tener un sociedad puede suponer

gastar mucho dinero sin ningún beneficio a cambio.

Por ultimo, tenga también en cuenta que la Agencia Tributaria considera que si usted está usando una propiedad perteneciente a una sociedad, debe pagarle un alquiler a dicha sociedad. Lo que también supondría pagar impuestos de sociedades a un 25% de dicha renta anual que la sociedad está percibiendo.

EN CONCLUSIÓN: Le

aconsejamos que nunca funde una sociedad para comprar una propiedad, ni compre una sociedad que ya posea una, sino que en

caso de querer adquirir una propiedad lo haga en su propio nombre.

Y en caso de que ya haya cometido el error de usar una sociedad para esto, le recomendamos que la liquide cuanto antes y registre la propiedad a su nombre. De esta forma evitará una posible reclamación de la Agencia Tributaria y ahorrará mucho dinero en gastos de mantenimiento.

Many clients are advised to set up limited companies to buy properties in Spain or sometimes it is suggested that they purchase the shares of an existing limited company which is the legal owner of a property.

Should you be thinking of buying a real estate property (either for your own use or as an investment), never use a limited company for this purpose. Limited companies are for running a business, not for holding ownership of real estate properties.

Despite what you are told

by many investment and financial companies about the advantages of limited companies, I can confirm that there are no tax advantages or savings of any kind to be gained by using a limited company, but there are many extra costs and potential tax liabilities.

You must always purchase your real estate in your own name. It is much simpler, cheaper, and safer.

You should never set up a company or purchase the shares of an existing company that holds the ownership of a property, just to buy real estate. The ownership of a limited company or shares in a limited company would imply taxes to be paid and a risk of taking over the company’s

previous duties or commitments.

Please also note that apart from the costs and risks of setting up a company or buying an existing company, you would also be liable to pay the annual maintenance costs. Years pass by very quickly and you will see that having a company would involve spending money like water, with no benefits at all.

Finally, please also be aware that the Spanish Tax Office considers that if you are using a property owned by a company you should be paying rent for said property to your own company. This would implicate an important tax liability for the company who would have to pay annual

corporate taxes at the rate of 25 % of the assumed annual rental that you should be paying to the company.

CONCLUSION:

Never set up a company to buy a property, nor purchase an existing company holding ownership of real estate. You should always purchase properties in your own name.

And if you have already made the mistake of using a company to buy a property, we would recommend

that you liquidate it ASAP and register the property in your own name. This way you would avoid an unpleasant claim from the tax office and would also save a lot of money by avoiding the maintenance costs.

¿Qué sucede con la basura que tiramos al contenedor?

Con el reciclaje muy presente en la mente y la conciencia pública en este momento y con todas las noticias que aparecen en los medios, recordé una visita a la Planta de Reciclaje y Procesado de Residuos de Urbaser en Casares, organizado por hace años por la delegación de Medio Ambiente de Manilva, que en ese momento dirigía el edil Dean Tyler Shelton.

Nunca pensé que me emocionaría con una excursión a una planta como la que estaba prevista la visita, pero me sorprendió, y es que las instalaciones de Urbaser son un ejemplo impresionante del camino a seguir en la eliminación de la basura doméstica.

Urbaser es la encargada de la recogida de la basura doméstica de los once municipios que conforman

la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, un colectivo de municipios, que agrupa sus recursos para actividades como abastecimiento de agua, recogida de basuras y hablamos de una población de más de medio millón de habitantes, que aumenta durante los meses de verano a consecuencia del turismo, generando unas 400.000 toneladas de basura.

Después de una reunión con los responsables de la planta de Recuperación de Reciclados de Urbaser, emprendimos un recorrido por las instalaciones.

Una de las acciones clave de Urbaser, es la educación de los usuarios, y durante nuestra visita, un grupo de escolares disfrutaba de un vídeo sobre el tema, en tanto que noso-

tros recorríamos la plataforma de pesaje de vehículos donde entran y salen los camiones de basura para saber su peso, y obtener los datos que permiten realizar un seguimiento del tonelaje de basura de cada municipio.

La primera zona que visitamos fue la zona de recepción de residuos, donde los camiones descargan en grandes fosas y donde los operadores emplean grandes pinzas (como las máquinas de la sala de juegos) para cargar la basura en transportadores que luego entrar en la planta y donde existe un espacio separado donde se deposita todo el plástico de los contenedores de reciclaje amarillos.

Dentro de la planta nos sorprende una desconcertante red de cintas transportadoras que alimentan una amplia variedad de máquinas que sacuden, dan vueltas, tamizan y cla-

sifican la basura, antes de pasar al siguiente proceso.

Es en este punto en el que descubrimos que toda la basura se procesa y clasifica, pasando por la máquina, el peso y la clasificación óptica para recuperar metales y plásticos que no llegaron a los contenedores de reciclaje, con el procesamiento final manejado por los trabajadores de la planta.

De esta manera, el 80% de la basura doméstica se recicla y el 20% restante se comprime en un metro y medias pacas que se apilan en tres alturas y se cubren con tierra y si bien es genial que estos artículos de plástico y hojalata se puedan recuperar de la basura general, este trabajo tiene un coste para los ayuntamientos que tienen que pagar por tonelada, por lo que es muy importante clasificar la basura antes de tirarla, pues lo pagamos

todos.

España tiene una importante política de reciclaje a través también de la organización sin ánimo de lucro Ecoembes que se asocia con empresas como Urbaser y aplica una pequeña tasa a todos los artículos de plástico que llevan su marca. Con ello se financia la recogida de plásticos, envases de bebidas y latas, sin coste alguno para los ayuntamientos. Los plásticos se recolectan, clasifican y envían a empresas de reciclaje que los reutilizan en nuevos artículos, por ejemplo, 40 botellas de agua de plástico PET se pueden convertir en otro producto, 80 latas sirven para hacer una llanta de bicicleta y solo 6 tetrabriks pueden utilizarse para hacer una caja de zapatos.

Aunque no todos los plásticos son el mismo material, Urbaser nos aconseja al público que coloque

28 | LA VOZ del RESIDENT | ESTEPONA TODOS los plásticos en el contenedor amarillo, y no se preocupe en si es o no reciclable, Urbaser hará la clasificación en su planta.

Del mismo modo, el vidrio se recupera también a través de una empresa llamada Ecovidrio, y nuevamente la recogida del vidrio es gratuita para los ayuntamientos, y dado su peso tiene aún más sentido colocarlo en los contenedores verdes asignados y no en la basura general que

representa un coste para el Ayuntamiento.

Algo que me sorprendió y me llamó la atención fue la ausencia de olor, porque me había preparado para recibir un fuerte impacto, pero sorprendentemente solo había un leve olor que no resultó incómodo.

La mayoría de los desechos orgánicos se trituran y se agrupan y almacenan en enormes cobertizos (recuerdan que mencioné que había poco olor, bueno,

lo retiro, ¡uf!). Y hasta hace unos años, alrededor del 3% de este compost consistía en pequeños trozos de vidrios rotos, pero Urbaser apostó por la compra de equipos que puedan sacar el vidrio del compost, algo que ha dado sus frutos en los años transcurridos desde su instalación.

Urbaser no procesa ropa.

La ropa se puede donar a organizaciones benéficas locales como Duquesa Charitable Society of

St George, que puede venderla en sus tiendas, en el mercado, o puede pasarla a una empresa de reciclaje que paga una pequeña cantidad por kilo.

El reciclaje ha mejorado mucho en los últimos años, pero siempre sufre un aumento en verano cuando la población local aumenta a consecuencia del turismo, algo que resulta lamentable por quienes no reciclan su basura. Urbaser y las autoridades locales es-

tán trabajando y mucho en campañas para incentivar y facilitar a todos el reciclaje de residuos.

Es importante destacar que, dados los problemas actuales en la industria del reciclaje del Reino Unido, prácticamente todos los materiales reciclables se procesan en España, y no se envían a otras partes del mundo para ser depositados en un campo en Polonia o pudrirse en el muelle de Hong Kong.

What happens to your rubbish after you put it in the bin?

With the topic of recycling very much at the forefront of public consciousness at the moment, with the UN Climate Conference COP 26, currently being held in Glasgow, I recalled a trip to the Urbaser waste recycling and processing plan in Casares, organised by Manilva’s Environment Department, in collaboration with the local company Eco Passion.

Not that I would normally get excited by a day trip to the tip, but Urbaser’s facil-

ity is an impressive example of the way forward in the disposal of household rubbish.

Urbaser are responsible for collecting the household refuse from the eleven municipalities that form the Mancomunidad de Municipalities de Costa del Sol Occidental, a collective of municipalities from the western Costa del Sol, which pools its resources for activities such as water supply, refuse collection, etc.

This covers a population of over half a million residents, which rises dramatically during the summer months due to tourism, generating some 350,000 tons of rubbish.

After a meeting with Juan Carrasco, Plant Manager and Ignacio Fernandez, Urbaser’s head of recovery of recyclables, we headed off on a tour of the facility.

One of the key responsibilities taken on by Urbaser is the education of the public, and whilst we were

ESTEPONA | LA VOZ del RESIDENT | 29 there a party of schoolchildren were enjoying a video on the subject. From the information centre we passed the vehicle weighbridge where the refuse lorries are weighed in and out allowing the managers to keep a track of the refuse tonnage from each municipality.

The first area we visited was the waste reception area, where the refuse lorries unload into big pits from where operators employ large grabs, a little like those machines at the amusement arcade but on a much grander scale, to load the rubbish onto conveyors which then enter the plant.

There is a separate pit where all the plastic from the yellow recycling containers is deposited.

Inside the plant we were met by a bewildering network of conveyor belts feeding a wide variety of machines that shake, tumble, sift and sort the rubbish, before it carries on to the next stage.

It’s at this point that we discovered that all refuse is processed and sorted, passing through machine, weight and optical sorting to recover metals and plastics that didn’t make it to the recycling bins, with

the final processing handled by humans. In fact Urbaser recovers 90% of plastics from general refuse.

In this way 80% of household refuse is recycled with the remaining 20% compressed into metre and half bales which are stacked three high and covered with soil.

Whilst it is great that these plastic and tin items can be recovered from the general refuse, the town hall has to pay per ton for it to be collected so it makes good sense to sort your refuse before dumping it.

Spain has a recycling policy through the not-for-profit organisation Ecoembes.

Ecoembes partners with companies such as Urbaser and levies a small charge on all plastic items which bears its mark. This funds the collection of plastics, drinks cartons and cans, without any charge to local town councils. The plastics are collected, sorted and sent to recycling companies which repurpose it into new items, for example 40 PET plastic water bottles can be converted into a fleece, 80 tin cans go to make a bicycle rim, and just 6 tetrabriks go to make a shoebox.

Although not all plastics

are the same material Urbased advises the public to put ALL plastics in the yellow container, don’t worry that you think it may not be recyclable, Urbaser will do the sorting at their plant.

Similarly, glass is recovered through a company called Ecovidrio, again the collection of glass is free of charge to local councils, and given its weight it makes even more sense to place it in the green containers allocated and not into general rubbish which costs the council.

One of the things that struck me was the lack of smell, I had steeled myself before entering the plant, fully expecting to be struck by a wall of odour, but surprisingly there was just a faint whiff which was not uncomfortable.

Most of the organic waste is shredded and composted in huge sheds (you remember I mentioned there was little smell, well I take that back - phew!), and up until a few years ago, some 2% of this compost consisted of small pieces of broken glass, but Urbaser took a gamble on the purchase of equipment which can remove the glass from the compost, a gamble which has paid off in the years since it was installed.

Urbaser does not process clothing. Clothing can be donated to local charities such as the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, who can sell it in their shops, on the market, or can pass it to a recycling company who pay a small

sum per kilo.

Recycling has improved in recent years, but always takes a dip in the summer when the local population increases through tourism.

It is an unfortunate fact that the visitors don’t tend to recycle their rubbish, even though they might do so back at home. Urbaser and the local authorities are working on schemes to encourage and to make it easier for visitors to recycle.

Importantly given the current issues in the UK recycling industry, virtually all the recyclables are processed in Spain, and not shipped off around the world to sit in a field in Poland or rot on the dockside in Hong Kong.

¿Quién hace qué en una Comunidad de Propietarios?

Las responsabilidades dentro de una definen en la Ley de Propiedad Horizontal y pueden ampliarse dentro de los Estatutos de la Comunidad.

Sin embargo, sobre todo debido a los diferentes tipos de Comunidades que tenemos en nuestra zona, estas responsabilidades suelen estar bastante mezcladas y hay muchas decisiones y actuaciones necesarias que no están definidas en la legislación vigente.

Entonces, ¿quién hace qué? ¿Quién excede sus funciones y responsabilidades dentro de una comunidad de propietarios? ¿Quién manda?

Todo el mundo piensa que el Presidente manda, sin embargo, como se explica en el HPL, el Presidente representa legalmente a la comunidad, pero tiene que acatar las decisiones y acuerdos alcanzados en las Juntas. Entonces, según nuestra legislación, la Asamblea General está en la cima de la pirámide, y el Presidente tiene que hacer lo que la Asamblea General decida.

• El Presidente es el re-

presentante legal de la Comunidad. Esto incluye la firma de contratos, la representación de la Comunidad ante los tribunales o fuera de ellos y la garantía de que la Comunidad se mantiene de conformidad con el artículo 10.

El Presidente también decide cuándo tendrá lugar la Junta General y los puntos que se incluirán en el orden del día. En la mayoría de los casos también

firma los pagos realizados con fondos comunitarios, a menos que se establezca una domiciliación bancaria o si el Administrador está autorizado a realizar estos pagos.

• La Asamblea General

debería reunirse al menos una vez al año, aunque esta obligación ha quedado suspendida para lo que resta de 2021 debido al COVID. La asamblea general decide quién será el Presidente, qué presupuesto tendrá la Comunidad para el año, las solicitudes de los propietarios, las condiciones de pago de las obras necesarias, las modificaciones de los Estatutos, la aprobación de acciones legales, incluidos los deudores, y cualquier otro punto de interés general que pueda incluirse en el orden del dia.

La Asamblea General define la dirección general de la Comunidad y puede otorgar funciones adicionales al Presidente o limitarlas, de modo que el Presidente tenga más o menos control sobre la Comunidad.

• El Administrador de

la Comunidad, por otra parte, velará por la correcta gestión y mantenimiento de la Comunidad, de sus instalaciones y servicios, incluidas las reparaciones urgentes, y asesorará y amonestará a los propietarios a tal efecto; preparará

el presupuesto de gastos, realizará y cobrará los pagos que procedan; actuará como secretario de la asamblea general y custodiará los documentos comunitarios para cuando estos puedan ser requeridos; y cualquier otra función conferida por la asamblea general.

Esto puede tener sentido, pero en ninguna parte de la HPL se define quién es responsable de supervisar a los contratistas sitio, o de asegurarse de que el trabajo se realice correctamente, ni se define quién debe llamar a la puerta de un propietario si hay quejas. Algunos Presidentes hacen todo esto, y otros no, depende del tipo de Comunidad. Tampoco define qué sucede si el Presidente excede sus funciones, si se contratan servicios no aprobados, se cambian contratistas, etc. La única opción sería convocar una

Asamblea Extraordinaria con el 25% de los propietarios y destituir a quien no haya actuado de acuerdo con las decisiones de la asamblea general o iniciar acciones legales contra ellos.

Su Administrador tampoco es responsable de nada de lo anterior, no existe ninguna obligación legal para que el Administrador venga a una Comunidad para supervisar las reparaciones o para supervisar los trabajos que se están llevando a cabo, ni que verifique si el jardinero y la limpiadora llegan a tiempo, etc. Hacemos esto para proporcionar un servicio más completo a nuestros clientes, pero esto excede de nuestra obligación legal y no está definida en la legislación vigente.

En cuanto a los demás cargos, no son obligatorios según la legislación española. El Vicepresidente no tiene ninguna responsabilidad u obligación propia,

solo representaría a la Comunidad cuando el Presidente no esté disponible.

El Comité tampoco es obligatorio. Normalmente tendrías un comité para ayudar y asistir al Presidente y la comunidad delegaría ciertas funciones en ellos, un miembro podría supervisar cuentas, otro contratos, otro reparaciones, etc., pero estos no son requisitos legales.

Al final del día, cada Comunidad funciona de una manera diferente, en algunos el Presidente lo hace todo, en otros el Comité tiene funciones delegadas y en otros su Administrador hará todo lo anterior, y cualquier otra cosa requerida.

Solo asegúrese de que todas estas responsabilidades estén bien definidas para evitar confusiones o malas interpretaciones para que todos sepan dónde están y que se espera de ellos.

Who does what in a Community of Owners?

The responsibilities within a Community are defined in the Horizontal Property Law and may be extended within the Community’s Statutes. However, especially due to the different types of Communities that we have in our area, these responsibilities are usually quite mixed up and there are lots of necessary decisions and actions that are not defined in the Spanish legislation.

So, who does what? Who exceeds their functions and responsibilities within a community of owners?

Who is in charge?

Everyone thinks that the President is in charge, however, as explained in the HPL, the President represents the community legally, but has to abide by the decisions and agreements reached at the Community Meetings. So, the way it is laid out, the General Assembly is at the top of the pyramid, and the President has to do what the General Assembly decides.

• The President is the legal representative.

This includes signing contracts, representing the Community in or out of court and making sure that the Community is adequately maintained according to Article 10.

The President also decides on when the Gen-

eral Meeting will take place and the items to be included on the Agenda. In most cases he also counter-signs and payments made with community funds, unless there is a direct debit is set up or if the Administrator is authorised to make these payments.

The General Assembly should convene at least once a year, although this obligation has been suspended in Spain for the remainder of 2021 due to COVID. The general assembly decides who the President will be, what budget the Community will have for the year, discusses requests from owners, payment terms for necessary works, Statute modifications, approval of legal actions, including debtors, and any other general interest item that may be included on the Agenda.

The General Assembly defines the general direction of the Community and can award additional functions for the President or remove them, so that the President has more or less control over the Community.

The Community Administrator, on the other hand, shall ensure the proper management and upkeep

of the Community, its installations and services, including urgent repairs, and to advise and admonish unit owners to that effect; to prepare the budget of expenditures, to make and receive payments as appropriate; to act as secretary to the general assembly and to keep custody of community documents for when these may be required; and any other function conferred by the general assembly.

This may make sense, but nowhere in the HPL does it define who is responsible for supervising contractors on site, or of making sure that work is done properly, nor is it defined who should knock on an owner’s door if there are complaints. Some Presidents do all of this, and others don’t, it depends on the type of Community. Also it does not define what happens if the President exceeds his functions, if unapproved services are contracted, contractors changed, etc. The only option would be to call an EGM with 25% of owners and remove whoever hasn’t acted in line with the general assembly’s decisions or to commence legal actions against them.

the above, there is no legal obligation for the Administrator to come to a Community to supervise repairs or to supervise works being carried out, checking to see if the gardener and cleaner arrive on time and so on. We do this to provide a more complete service for our clients, but these items are beyond our remit and there is no legal obligation defined in Spanish Law. Regarding the other positions on the board, they are not compulsory according to Spanish law.

The Vice-President hasn’t got any responsibilities or obligations of his own, he would only represent the Community when the President is unavailable.

The Committee is also not compulsory. Normally you would have a committee to help and assist the Pres-

ident and the community would delegate certain functions in them, one member could supervise accounts, another contracts, another repairs, and so on, but these are not legal requirements.

At the end of the day, each Community functions in a different way, in some the President does everything, in others the Committee have delegated functions and in others your Administrator will do all of the above, and anything else required.

Just make sure that all these responsibilities are well defined to avoid any confusions or misinterpretations so that everyone knows where they stand and what is required of them.

Logra el mar un mimo de alga en la arena.

Cuando la cobra está adormilada, suspira una golondrina que atrae la mirada de una sonrisa sin celo del animal que empuja. Te escolta la estrella madre. Nacer, pero no solo como criatura. Venir al mundo para seguir viviendo, para vivir de nuevo (el mismo escarceo de nacer para quedarse el agua en la boca de la mar parida). (¡Cuántos le han cantado a la vida!).

Surgir desde el viento, el aire que se sueña (soñar y hacerse viejo en el sueño), ladearse para alcanzar el destino de la abeja. Ah, pero el aire despierta y no hay ninguna sospecha de que la luna desvelada abraza y resguarda. (Los niños, próximos, no saben que la luna protege al animal. ¿Quién será el que ha venido con la luna para ayudarle a parir?).

Esa es la verdad, la verdad que nace, transmite, embaraza, contagia de luz y apaga la sed y borra la desdicha y la calamidad. Porque incluso lo que no nace al mundo que tocamos ha nacido (y la mente, el corazón y el alma al contacto con los sueños lo ha palpado).

Criar, alimentar los cachorros que ladeados quedan impolutos cuando la madre los limpia; mientras que el animal lame una distancia y sube a la mejilla de los que hemos estado esperando impacientes el duro parto, y un aullido leve hace que ruede el misterio del universo naciente.

The tale unfolds with a brilliantly planned diamond heist of uncut stones, the subsequent get away and the fencing of the stones in Holland.About the author: Jack Duncan is a former Scots Guards officer and helicopter pilot who has also been CEO of many diverse commercial enterprises and NGO charities. He spent several years in West Africa as MD of a Defence Security Company – mostly in Angola towards the end of the Civil War. His books are gleaned from his own experiences, which have been presented as fiction. This is the first book in the Douglas Trilogy.

Media hora más tarde, los dos bandoleros se encontraban en la puerta del cortijo. Los compañeros les esperaban impaciente, pero enseguida se les borró de la cara el gesto de preocupación al verles llegar sonrientes y a Jabalí golpeando las alforjas; claro incidió, de de haber conseguido el objetivo marcado con resultados excelentes. ¿Todo bien, preguntó Diego, aunque la pregunta sobraba, no ha habido problemas?

A excepción de los soldados que, cansados de esperarnos, se dirigían a Constantina y, seguramente ya habrán salido en nuestra persecución, nada más que decir.

Diego, miró a todos con una sonrisa, luego, se volvió a los guardeses del cortijo para decirles.

Decidle a todos, que nos has oído decir, que vamos a Portugal por una temporada. Jabalí, dame unos billetes… estos es para vosotros, ni una palabra al patrón, pues os quitará el dinero y ni gracias os dará; ya sabéis la condición de los terratenientes.

Los guardeses comprendieron las palabras de Diego, la mujer, con los ojos húmedos, le dio las gracias, el marido hizo lo mismo. Luego les recomendó que se dieran prisa.

El grupo, arreando los caballos, los pusieron al trote, una marcha muy apropiada para recorrer grandes distancias sin que

las monturas se cansaran en demasía. Diego iba el primero dirigiendo el grupo que, muy sorprendidos comenzaron a mirarse unos a otros sin decir palabra; ya que, la dirección escogida, no era otra que, el camino de Sevilla. ¿Se puede saber, porqué nos dirigimos a Sevilla? preguntó Jabalí mirando a Diego.

No sé, si se tragarán lo de Portugal, pero, lo que es seguro, es que ni por asomo, consideraran la posibilidad de nuestro regreso a Sevilla. Vosotros, pensarlo bien. ¿De verdad que, alguno de ellos pensará en los que estamos haciendo?

No, claro que no, todos o casi, pensarán que hemos simulado dirigirnos a Portugal.

The Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George has launched its 2021 Charity Christmas Campaign, with a number of aims which include the Children’s Gift Campaign; the Estepona Social Kitchen Christmas Dinner; and the continuance of our Feed a Family (formerly Feed a Child).

Tiendas benéficas St George La organización benéfica St George cuenta con tres tiendas benéficas, dos en Sabinillas, Manilva y otra en La Cancelada, Estepona.

En Sabinillas, una de las tiendas vende ropa, zapatos, sombreros y accesorios de segunda mano, mientras que la otra vende una amplia gama de muebles usados, objetos decorativos, artículos para el hogar, libros, CDs, DVDs, etc.

En la tienda de Cancelada se pueden encontrar todos los mismos tipos de artículos que en las dos anteriores además de muebles más grandes como sofás y camas.

Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas, hay nuevos artículos en todas las tiendas a diario. ¡Pásate por las tiendas regularmente para no perderte ninguna ganga!

Además de contar con algunos artículos geniales, las tiendas benéficas de St George también ofrecen la opción de alquilar algunos de sus ofrendas como sillas de ruedas, muletas, cunas de viaje, etc.

The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona.

In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; while the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds, dvds, etc.

Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of

furniture and beds.

Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that bargain.

The shop management welcomes donations of quality secondhand items and can arrange collection of larger items that cannot be brought in a car, or where appropriate. Please bring your donations between the hours of 10.30 am and 1 pm, avoiding rainy days when our patio items have to be stored inside and therefore limit space.

The Sabinillas shops are situated in Calle Duquesa de Arcos and in Calle Aurora de Albornoz, Punta Almina, Sabinillas, Manilva.

ADANA Rescue Shelter update, 31st October 2021 Since the evacuation and the fire damage sustained to the shelter services on 13th September, the volunteers and your donations have performed miracles in getting the shelter operational again and returning the abandoned dogs to our care. This was also achieved with fantastic help from all the emergency fosterers who helped save the dogs.

ADANA suffered a great deal of fire damage • We lost our main water supply, with 2km of piping burnt out from the higher section of the Sierra Bermeja mountain.

• We lost our stores container which was completely burnt out; inside were all our spare pumps, 50 event tables, 12 new

kennels, events cooking materials and many other items.

• We sustained internal smoke damage to the walls and infrastructure of the shelter.

• We had fencing damaged in many places, and many other smaller problems.

All these were resolved and the shelter was in temporary operation within a week, with all the major technical damage being repaired and replaced within a month. Throughout, we continued to take in more newly-abandoned dogs. This was achieved by direct public donations, from you all, and total dedication from our volunteers.

We received no financial assistance from national or local government.

There were many events,

sponsored by individuals, who donated every cent to the ADANA dogs. We thank you all.

We are so grateful to all our friends who supported ADANA, including • “Estenova Veterinary Clinic” for absorbing our September vet account and continuing to support throughout the emergency • the contractors “Riegas Vallejo” who came immediately to our aid with the new water main, only charging for the materials and providing the labour free • all the local schools who provided us with food and blankets and many other items • the replacement storage container, which was donated by one of our very serious friends of ADANA • the emergency water

tanks, which were also donated by other very good friends.

We have had absolutely incredible support and the list is endless.

The internal areas of the shelter were repainted and emergency water supplies installed immediately, by

a whole group of ADANA volunteers, who worked tirelessly every single day, until we were fully operational again.

To everyone who has worked, helped, donated and supported ADANA, we thank you all; we could not have done it without you.

Noviembre, la pre-Navidad en nuestras cocinas Cuando llegan los dos últimos meses del año, comienza a hablarse de la comida en esas fechas señaladas. Algo que sinceramente detesto, por eso prefiero hablar de ello este mes.

Hay que proteger el estómago, antes y durante la Navidad. Por eso comenzamos en noviembre, con el Coronavirus más o menos controlado, con las comidas entre amigos, ya después vendrán las de las empresas y finalmente con los familiares, por eso voy a dejar aquí unos consejos para una alimentación saludable en Navidad.

Planificar el menú. Tratar de hacer los menús equilibrados. Si el plato principal es muy graso acompáñalo de entrantes ligeros.

Incluir la fruta en el menú navideño. Servirlas como postre junto a las delicias navideñas.

Evitar los picoteos antes de la comida.

Probar de todo, pero sírviéndote en un plato pequeño y sin repetir.

Evitar los atracones, comiendo de todo pero en su justa medida.

No abandonar el ejercicio físico y el deporte en las fiestas.

Hacer desayunos saludables con fruta, zumos, cereales y lácteos.

Pero además de los consejos anteriores, sobre alimentación saludable en Navidad… frente a los excesos, está el arte de compensar.

Disfrutar de las comidas en los días especiales, pero no dejarse llevar por la marea que alarga el placer de comer sin control y para ello nos sirven unas sencillas pautas para contrarrestar la superabundancia de los menús navideños y así mantener un peso saludable.

El truco siempre está en la cantidad y no en la variedad. Si seguimos haciendo 5 comidas al día, no llegaremos con tanta hambre a esa reunión de antiguos alumnos, ni a la comida de empresa, pudiendo así ponernos un plato variado y apetitoso, en una cantidad considerada.

Dejar de almorzar y merendar, porque tenemos una cena de este tipo, nunca es una opción. Llegaremos con mucha hambre, comeremos en exceso y estaremos haciendo trabajar hasta el agotamiento a nuestro sistema digestivo, manifestándose en muchos

casos síntomas de acidez, digestiones pesadas, regurgitaciones, flatulencias y dolor de estómago.

Evitar las bebidas alcohólicas, no es un consejo práctico para estas fechas, por lo que es preferible saber compensar los excesos alcohólicos. El alcohol nos aporta una caloría conocida como vacía, sin aporte nutricional alguno. Beber agua después de beber alcohol, se convierte en una herramienta eficaz para depurar el alcohol presente en la sangre.

Y como aporte final, la toma de

conciencia es crucial. Hacer balance de lo que hemos comido y contabilizar las veces que nos saltamos los hábitos saludables en el día a día, porque es esa la única manera de poder aplicar el método de compensación para no subir de peso y, sobre todo, para mantener un estado saludable. La compensación no es más que permanecer dentro de lo habitual, el mayor tiempo posible, durante las semanas de diciembre y enero, donde nuestra rutina se ve alterada.

The trick is always in quantity and not in variety. If we continue to eat normally, we will not arrive so hungry to that meeting of former school friends, or to the company lunch, thus being able to enjoy a varied and appetizing dish, in a sensible quantity.

To stop having lunch and a snack, in anticipation of a dinner of this type, is never a good idea. We will arrive very hungry, we will overeat and we will be making our digestive system work until exhaustion, manifesting in many cases symptoms of heartburn, heavy indigestion, regurgitation, flatulence and stomach pain.

Avoid alcoholic beverages, it is not practical advice for these dates,

so it is preferable to know how to compensate for alcoholic excesses. Alcohol gives us empty calories, without any nutritional value.

Drinking plenty of water after drinking alcohol becomes an effective tool to purify the alcohol present in the blood and prevent dehydration.

And as a final contribution, awareness is crucial. Take stock of what we have eaten and count the times we skip healthy habits on a day-to-day basis, because that is the only way to apply the compensation method to avoid gaining weight and, above all, to maintain a healthy state. Compensation is nothing more than keeping within the usual intake, as long as possible, during the weeks of December and January, where our routine is altered.

I have been involved with the Saint George charity (based in Sabinillas) for over seven years, helping to raise funds to feed local underprivileged children and families.

Each year, I try to create new challenges and fundraisers to meet the ever growing need of our local community.

This year has been very tough, Covid has devastated many families, and more and more people need our support.

The Saint George Charity operates a vital food bank which is currently supporting some 35 families with food, toiletries, and household cleaning items, along with medicines, nappies, baby food, and so on where re-

quired. The basic food package comprises non-perishable foodstuffs such as milk, flour, pasta, tinned meats and fish, cooking oil, etc, along with a meat voucher and a fruit & vegetable voucher redeemable at local shops. The cost per family averages out at around 250 euros per month.

Not only do we operate the food bank we also support local social kitchens which supply cooked meals to hundreds of people.

This month I kick off the Christmas campaign - my goal (with the support of our amazing community), is to raise 12,000 € by 3 Jan 2022 - this will ensure all our families are suppor-

ted through December, January and February. Each family will have a Christmas meal, each child on the Social Services list in Manilva, Casares and at the Emaus Social Kitchen in Estepona will receive a Christmas gift bag and no child will go to school hungry.

Será el Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, en Los Naranjos Golf de Marbella con la última prueba del Ladies European Tour 2021.

Serán 72 jugadoras de las 63 mejores de la Race to Costa del Sol y 8 invitadas por la organización. Después del Andalucía Masters Valderama (hombres) ahora toman el relevo las mujeres. Major women's golf tournament on the Costa del Sol This November from 25th to 28th the Costa del Sol will close the season of major professional golf tournaments. It will be the Andalucia Costa del Sol Spanish Open, at Los Naranjos Golf in Marbella that rounds off the Ladies European Tour 2021.

There will be 72 players, 64 from best of the Race to Costa del Sol, and 8 invited by the organization. After the Andalucía Masters Valderama men's tournament, it is the turn of the women. The efforts of the Royal Andalucian Golf Federation and the Junta de Andalucía to bring golf to all audiences (especially women, youth and families) serve to reinforce the sporting reality of a community that has become a fundamental nursery of amateur golf, both in its recreational and more competitive aspects.

Juanjo Machuca Campeón de Andalucía Junior de Triatlón El triatleta esteponero se ha proclamado el domingo 24 en la localidad de Punta Umbría, Campeón de Andalucía Junior de Triatlón con un tiempo de 56 min 27 seg, siendo décimo de la general.Salía del agua en cabeza en un grupo de muy buen nivel de natación, llegando a la T1 para empezar el segmento de bicicleta y sufrió un percance con las zapatillas que lo dejaba relegado de ese primer grupo.

Aún así siguió luchando y gracias a su ímpetu llegaba primero del segundo grupo de bicicleta , bajandose muy bien colocado para el segmento de carrera.

Al final un más que merecido décimo puesto en la general y proclamándose Campeón de Andalucía en su categoría Junior sacando una ventaja de minuto y medio al segundo clasificado.

He came out of the water in the lead in a group with a very good level of swimming, arriving at

T1 to start the bicycle segment and suffered a mishap with the shoes that left him relegated from that first group.

He still kept fighting and thanks to his momentum he was first in the second bike group, getting off very well placed for the running

segment.

In the end, a more than deserved tenth place in the general overall classification and proclaiming himself Champion of Andalucia in his Junior category, taking an advantage of a minute and a half to the second placed athlete.
