Ya me apetecía escribir y todo por el componente simbólico de lo escrito y por poder explicarme ante quien tenga a bien leerme. Hace ya bastantes, diría más bien muchos años que hice de la política una de mis pasiones, y prueba de ello es que he comentado y criticado mucho, en los más de cuatro años que llevo escribiendo cada cierto tiempo, para tratar muchos ámbitos distintos, algunos con más acierto y otros con menos. Pero, siempre desde la barrera. Seguro que usted, como yo, ha pensado muchas veces aquello de “es que no hacen una a derechas”, “es que no se pueden hacer las cosas peor”, “es que tendrían que haberlo hecho así y no asá”. Pero dar un paso al frente en política, sobre todo cuando se vive en un pueblo, es una decisión a meditar. A uno le puede hacer mucha ilusión salir con el pecho henchido detrás de la Virgen en cada procesión, pero ser concejal no es eso. A uno le puede hacer mucha ilusión salir en los medios municipales inaugurando, pero eso no es ni mucho menos ser concejal. Parece una obviedad, y es cierto que quienes gobiernan, en demasiadas ocasiones lo entonan tantas veces en vano, que ya nos suena hasta a insulto, pero la verdad es que la política es y debe ser un servicio público, es y debe ser la voluntad de invertir mucho tiempo y mucho esfuerzo en tratar de mejorar lo que es de todos. La política no es una forma de llevar un sueldo más o menos copioso a casa, ni es una excusa para llenar papel de periódicos con fotos propias. No es eso la política y no podemos consentir que lo sea. ¿Saben qué? En realidad la aventura de la política empieza siempre igual. La última legislatura la he seguido muy de cerca, me ha interesado mucho saber quién hacía qué y cómo lo hacía. De esa observación me han ido surgiendo muchas reflexiones y he ido aprendiendo mucho, de como uno cree que deben hacerse las cosas y de cómo creo que no deben hacerse. Pero siempre llegas a la misma conclusión, hay un paso que es imprescindible si uno quiere ofrecerse como alternativa y eso es, diagnosticar con precisión qué requiere cambiar y qué no, y sobre todo argumentarlo, no vale con decir “todo lo que han hecho los otros está mal”, no vale con entrar en lo que es la casa de todos los vecinos, como un elefante en una cacharrería. Y por supuesto, no vale con creerse que uno lo sabe todo y los demás no saben nada, quien sale con esa actitud de casa no hace sino demostrar hasta qué punto su ego se ha tornado en ignorancia. The recent screening of the Netflix series ‘La Línea: Shadow of Narco’ has focussed the world’s attention on the activities of the narco gangs in the Campo de Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol whose almost daily activities have long been a feature of life here in the South of Spain. Whilst at first glance the series appeared to paint the area in a bad light, those that persevered through to the final episode will have been heartened by the optimism of the Mayor and the people of La Linea as well as the recent successes of the police and security forces in decapitating two of the the area’s leading crime ‘clans’. Despite these successes the current economic climate can only drive more people to the temptation of the ‘narco euro’, with unemployment climbing daily, and the forecast for the coming winter looking more and more gloomy, then the attraction of big bucks, even at the lowest level - the young spotters and lookouts, is a strong influence. And it’s not just drug smuggling that is on the rise, there is evidence of a rise in robberies from businesses and private dwellings which is another indicator of the poor state of the economy. Without wishing to get political and also lacking the answers myself, the Government at all levels, both regional and national need to get their act together and honour their promises to small and medium sized businesses and the self-employed to help them prosper, as it is these entrepreneurs who are the backbone of the economy.

Manilva El Ayuntamiento de Manilva recepciona, Manilva council receives el nuevo depósito de agua del Hacho the new El Hacho reservoir

El equipo de gobierno de Manilva, ve cumplido con la recepción de esta importante obra, uno de los proyectos estrella de la Legislatura, al tiempo que los vecinos recuperan en materia de infraestructuras, las aportaciones realizadas durante años en el canon del agua.

El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, acompañado del concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Diego José Jiménez y de los miembros del equipo de gobierno, han inaugurado el nuevo depósito de agua del Hacho. Carlos Cañabate y Manuel Cardeña, consejeros delegados de Acosol también han comparecido ante los medios para asegurar que "este es un depósito regulador de 10.000 metros cúbicos de agua que garantizará el futuro desarrollo de Manilva". El alcalde Mario Jiménez aseguró en su intervención que "esta es una obra de gran importancia para el futuro del municipio y es una infraestructura que se hace posible con la contribución de todos los vecinos en el recibo del agua,

y que hoy vuelve a ellos, a través de esta recepción". Diego José Jiménez, edil de Infraestructura y Obras ratificó las palabras del primer edil asegurando que "este nuevo depósito lo pagamos todos los vecinos y seguro que Hidralia le dará el mejor uso para beneficio del municipio". La nueva infraestructura que ACOSOL entrega al Ayuntamiento permitirá garantizar el suministro de agua en el municipio durante los próximos 25 años y "es uno de los grandes proyectos del actual equipo de gobierno para el futuro desarrollo de la zona donde se ubica y de todo el municipio", se asegura desde el Consistorio. Con este nuevo servicio se incrementará la capacidad de suministro desde las conducciones principales

de abastecimiento de la Costa del Sol Occidental, permitiendo una gestión conjunta y eficiente de los recursos disponibles. Las obras han consistido en la rehabilitación y puesta en funcionamiento del depósito de 10.000 metros cúbicos situado en la urbanización El Hacho, que quedará integrado en el sistema de abastecimiento en alta como depósito de regulación del suministro al municipio, incluyéndose en el proyecto, las obras de conexión con el depósito de Costa, que abastece a Manilva pueblo, y las actuaciones complementarias necesarias para la integración de esta nueva infraestructura en el sistema de abastecimiento municipal. La capacidad de regulación en este sector pasará de los 2.300 metros cúbicos actuales a 12.300 metros cúbicos. La actuación, que acomete la empresa Sando, ha tenido un presupuesto de más de 1,7 millones de euros que financia Acosol y que gestionará Hidralia.

municipality for the next 25 years and "is one of the major projects of the current government team for the future development of the area where it is located and of the municipality as a whole." Thanks to this new facility, the supply capacity will be increased from the main supply pipes of the Western Costa del Sol, allowing a joint and efficient management of the available resources. The works involved the refurbishment and commissioning of the 10,000 cubic metre tank located in the El Hacho urbanization, which will be integrated into the supply system as a regulating deposit for the supply to the municipality, including in the project, the connection with the Costa reservoir, which supplies Manilva town, and the complementary actions necessary for the integration of this new infrastructure into the municipal supply system. The capacity in this area will rise from the current 2,300 cubic metres to 12,300 cubic metres. The project, carried out by the Sando company, had a budget of more than 1.7 million euros, financed by Acosol and managed by Hidralia.

Las obras de la Calle Álvarez Leiva finalizarán en octubre El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, junto al delegado de Infraestructura y Obras, Diego José Jiménez, ha visitado los trabajos que se llevan a cabo en la calle Dr Álvarez Leiva. El delegado de infraestructura comentaba, que "se cumplirán con los plazos establecidos y los trabajos finalizarán en el mes de octubre". Los trabajos de esta obra se vieron afectados por un aplazamiento solicitado por el Consistorio y suspendidos a causa de la pandemia de la Covid 19, aunque finalmente se asegura "la empresa cumplirá con lo establecido en el contrato y a finales del mes del octubre, los vecinos podrán ya disfrutar de la obra finalizada".

El primer edil manilveño, que también se refirió al cumplimiento de los plazos por parte de la empresa, destaca "la importancia de esta obra para los ciudadanos", y recordó que "con ella se eliminan varias barreras arquitectónicas para las personas con alguna discapacidad", por lo que se mostró su satisfacción de que próximamente, Manilva "disfrute de una entrada al núcleo como los vecinos se merecen". La reurbanización de la calle Doctor Álvarez Leiva, supone un coste de 261.118 €, a cargo de dos administraciones. Por una parte, el ayuntamiento de Manilva, aporta 176. 803 € y por otra, la Diputación Provincial con cargo a los planes de inversión finan-

cieramente sostenible, 84. 315 €. Entre los trabajos que se llevan a cabo, se encuentran las obras necesarias para la mejora de la red

the one hand, the Manilva Town Council contributes € 176,803 and, on the other, the Malaga Provincial Council, through its financially sustainable investment plans, contributed € 84,315. The works included improvements to the sanitation and drainage network, the drinking water network, low voltage electricity supply, as well as public lighting. The road surface is also designed to integrate it into its surroundings, and the pavements and the installation of 51 linear metres of metal railing are included in the project.

El jurado ha debatido las propuestas presentadas y tras su análisis y debate han determinado falló a los siguientes premiados: PREMIO MANILVA SOLIDARIA: “Al Pueblo de Manilva”, por la solidaridad mostrada en la lucha frente a la pandemia con la realización de mascarillas y demás material sanitario y por su contribución con alimentos y atenciones a los más desfavorecidos. PREMIO MANILVA EMPRENDE: para “Serviacon”, esta empresa local está siendo un referente en el emprendimiento, desta-

Por la tarde, los recorridos se realizarán a las 16:05 h., y cada hora hasta las 19:05 h. y los horarios de 15:45 horas y 20:05 horas están reservados para los alumnos de las diferentes escuelas deportivas del término municipal. El precio del ticket por trayecto es de 1,25 €, mientras que los pensionistas deberán abonar 0,75 €.

El alcalde insiste en su petición de un cuartel de la Guardia Civil con puesto principal El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, ha mantenido una reunión con el Sargento de la Guardia Civil en la localidad, José Francisco Sojo López, para reivindicar e insistir de nuevo en la necesidad de que el cuartel se convierta en puesto principal.

Esta es una reivindicación del regidor local que lleva solicitando este servicio con insistencia en todos los organismos y estamentos competentes. El cuartel de la Guardia Civil de Sabinillas sólo tiene horario de mañana para recibir las denuncias

de los vecinos. La creación de un puesto principal conllevaría la apertura del cuartel las 24 horas al día, pasar de 25 a 35 agentes, disponer de un oficial en el puesto y de secciones de investigación. También se contaría con una brigada especializada de investigación. Para Mario Jiménez, máximo responsable del área de Seguridad Ciudadana esta es una reivindicación irrenunciable ya que "estamos muy satisfechos de la labor que realiza la Policía Local, pero convertir el cuartel en puesto principal supondría un refuerzo notable, sobre todo, en épocas del año donde nuestra población aumenta considerablemente. No cesaré en el empeño de solicitar por todas las vías posibles que aumenten los efectivos de la Guardia Civil en nuestra localidad".

Las “Noches de Concursos benéficos” de Rose & Thistle recaudan más de 10.000 euros para organizaciones locales Cuando Sarah y Simon Dearing abrieron el Rose & Thistle el año pasado, una cosa que tenían muy clara era su complicidad con la comunidad local y su contribución a ella y fue entonces cuando decidieron realizar “una noche de concursos semanal” con el objetivo de recaudar fondos para organizaciones benéficas locales. A este proyecto se sumó rápidamente, Kevin Blenkinsopp, presidente de la organización Duquesa de la Royal British Legion, que ofreció de forma desinteresada sus servicios como maestro de esta actividad, trabajando en estos eventos en ayuda tanto de la RBL, como de otras organizaciones benéficas de la zona. A lo largo de los meses, y a pesar del bloqueo por Covid 19, la “Noche de Con-

cursos” de Rose & Thistle alcanzó en las últimas fechas un record increíble cuando, durante un concurso en ayuda de la Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, que recaudó unos 540 euros, alcanzó un total de 10.000 euros de recaudación, ¡y todo esto frente a las cámaras del Canal 5 del Reino Unido que estaban en el local

Rose & Thistle Charity Quiz Nights raise more than 10,000 euros for local charities When Sarah and Simon Dearing opened the Rose & Thistle last year one thing they felt strongly about was the local community, and to contribute they decided to hold a weekly quiz night to raise money for local charities. To this end Kevin Blenkinsopp, Chairman of the Duquesa branch of the Royal British Legion, offered his services as quizmaster,

running the quiz in aid of both the RBL and other charities in the area. Over the months, and despite the lockdown, the Rose & Thistle quiz night recently reached an incredible milestone when, during a quiz in aid of the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George which raised some 540 euros, it also brought to a grand total of 10,000 euros the money they have

raised, and all this in front of the UK's Channel 5 cameras who were there to record the fact! The Saint George Charity is very grateful to Sarah, Simon, Kev and the team for all the monies they have raised, and I'm sure I can say the same for all the other charities they have helped. Here's to the next 10,000.

Manilva se gana a los turistas, que "repetirían o aconsejarían el municipio" Una encuesta realizada a pie de calle a un total de 220 personas, de diferentes nacionalidades, ofrece en sus resultados finales que el 100% de los encuestados contestan "SI, a aconsejar o volver a Manilva". La delegación de Turismo, dirigida por Eva Galindo,

ha realizado un balance del verano 2020 donde se ofrecen datos sobre la realidad local y "el atractivo que ofrece cada rincón del municipio". El servicio de información ha atendido a 390 personas en la Oficina de Turismo del Puerto de la Duquesa y a 210 personas en el punto

turístico en Sabinillas. Las consultas realizadas han estado relacionadas con las playas, lugares a visitar del territorio andaluz, posibilidades de ocio y entretenimiento de Manilva, la conexión con Gibraltar, los horarios del transporte municipal y las medidas Covid.

El alcalde pide a Correos soluciones para las zonas que no reciben el servicio

El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, ha mantenido una reunión con responsables de Correos con el fin de hacerles llegar las inquietudes de algunos vecinos y las propuestas de mejora para el servicio que se ofrece en la localidad. El regidor local había solicitado esta cita para tratar temas logísticos de las oficinas de Manilva y Sabinillas con el fin de intentar dar solución a los problemas con algunas direcciones cuyos envíos no se reciben.

El primer edil manilveño también ha insistido en la necesidad de contar con una nueva instalación en el núcleo de Manilva y que se puedan realizar todas las diligencias y gestiones sin necesidad de tener que hacerlo en Sabinillas. El objetivo, además de evitar desplazamientos, es quitar carga de trabajo al servicio de la zona más costera del municipio, una petición que desde Correos "se han ofrecido a estudiar".

Manilva ya tiene abierto el demandado Punto Limpio

El 1 de octubre ha sido la fecha en la que el Punto Limpio, ubicado en el Polígono la Dehesilla de Manilva abrió sus puertas. Para Mario Jiménez la puesta en marcha de este servicio viene a reforzar y complementar la limpieza en el municipio ya que como asegura "una de las principales apuestas que tenemos es la limpieza, además de dotar al área de un considerable presupuesto y haberla reforzado notablemente, el Punto Limpio supone un apoyo extraordinario, y que la ciudadanía y los empresarios puedan utilizarlo de forma adecuada y responsable". Por su parte, la edil responsable

de la concejalía de Limpieza, Paqui López se refiere al recinto recién inaugurado como "de vital importancia para la labor diaria que se lleva a cabo, al acoger materiales y desechos cuyo tratamiento será exclusivo, teniendo en cuenta también el apartado del reciclaje". El proyecto fue desarrollado y ejecutado por la Diputación Provincial a lo largo de varias legislaturas. urante este verano, no ha sido posible llevar a cabo el programa de Vacaciones en Paz, por el que los menores saharauis pasan la temporada estival con familias españolas, al tiempo que reciben atención médica, alimentación equilibrada y se alejan del duro calor del desierto en verano. La pandemia ha hecho que no sea posible este año desarrollar esta iniciativa, pero las familias de acogida, a través de la Asociación de Amigos del Pueblo Saharaiu han preparado un lote de productos diversos para llevar a los campamentos de refugiados en Tindouf. El Ayuntamiento de Casares ha prestado su colabo-

ración con esta iniciativa donando parte del material y prestando el transporte necesario para trasladar las cajas de cada familia hasta Málaga, desde donde está previsto que salgan en breve hacia su destino. El alcalde de Casares, Pepe Carrasco, ha mostrado otro año más su apoyo al pueblo saharaui, y ha explicado que por parte del Ayuntamiento "se ha donado material higiénico sanitario, como mascarillas, pantallas y gorros, así

como material educativo (lápices, plastilina, pegamento, pinceles, acuarelas, etc". Antonia Morera, representante de la Asociación de Amigos del Pueblo Saharaui en Casares, ha indicado que hay un total de 14 familias de acogida en el municipio y que todas han preparado su caja dotada de alimentos, medicinas, y otros artículos de primera necesidad que escasean en los campamentos de refugiados.

The pandemic has made it impossible this year to implement this initiative, but the host families, through the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People, have prepared a consignment of various products to take to the refugee camps in Tindouf.

The Council supports the initiative of the Association of the Friends of the Sahrawi People and their host families. The Casares Council has collaborated with this initiative by donating part of the material and providing the necessary transport to move the boxes for each family to Malaga, from where they are expected to leave shortly for their destination. The Mayor of Casares, Pepe Carrasco, has shown

his support for the Sahrawi people yet again, and explained that the Council "has donated hygiene materials, such as masks, screens and caps, as well as educational material (pencils, plasticine, glue, brushes, paints, etc ". Una inversión de más de 1 millón de euros para reactivar la economía local El Ayuntamiento asegura que "ha realizado en lo que va de 2020 inversiones en el municipio por valor de más de un millón de euros", en las que se incluyen los suministros y servicios a empresas locales y las contrataciones a través de la Bolsa de Empleo Municipal. Una de las prioridades del Ayuntamiento de Casares dice la nota emitida desde el Consistorio "es atender a las necesidades de la ciudadanía mediante la prestación de unos servicios públicos de calidad, una actividad que se realiza con personal propio, pero también a través de la contratación de servicios y suministros a empresas, lo que tiene una repercusión económica importante en la zona”. Según ha explicado el propio alcalde Pepe Carrasco, "siempre que es posible el

Estepona Inaugurado otro tramo de la senda litoral El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, y el consejero de Presidencia, Administración Pública e Interior de la Junta de Andalucía, Elías Bendodo, han inaugurado hoy un nuevo tramo de corredor litoral que discurre por la zona de la Morocha y une el hotel Kempinski con la urbanización Dominion Beach. Al acto también han asistido el presidente de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, Francisco Salado y el presidente de la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, José Antonio Mena. Este nuevo tramo de corredor litoral es el más largo de los que se han ejecutado hasta el momen-

to, con una longitud de casi un kilómetro. Lo conforman un paseo de hormigón impreso de 417 metros, dos pasarelas de madera (una de 125 metros y otra de 326 metros) y dos puentes, uno de 20 metros para salvar el paso de arroyo Judío y el otro de 32 metros que permite cruzar el río Castor. También, cuenta con zonas ajardinadas, nueva iluminación y mobiliario urbano. El proyecto supone una inversión de 976.760,60 euros (IVA incluido). Las obras han sido costeadas en un 80% por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona y en un 20% por la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental. Con la ejecución de este tramo se posibilita que los

ciudadanos puedan recorrer 10 kilómetros de forma ininterrumpida por la costa esteponera, concretamente desde el centro de la ciudad hasta el río Guadalmansa.

Estepona supera los 100 millones de presupuesto para el año 2021 El Ayuntamiento de Estepona someterá al Pleno de la Corporación que tendrá lugar el próximo miércoles 30 de septiembre, la aprobación inicial del Presupuesto municipal para el ejercicio 2021. El documento económico contempla unos ingresos de más de 101,4 millones de euros, sitúa los gastos en 98 millones de euros y prevé un superávit de 3,3 millones de euros. El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha explicado que “son unas cuentas para una nueva recuperación”, que mantienen “el rigor, la credibilidad y el cumplimiento de las normativas que le son de aplicación”. Asimismo, ha destacado que se trata de un documento con un marcado carácter social, donde las

cuantías económicas vinculadas a ayudas y programas sociales para los colectivos más vulnerables se han declarado ‘partidas ampliables’; esto es, tendrán carácter ilimitado y se podrán incrementar conforme a las necesidades que se produzcan durante el ejercicio. Al respecto, ha indicado que el equipo de gobierno continuará con el carácter inversor que ha marcado la gestión de los últimos nueve años, en el convencimiento de que ante la crisis originada por la pandemia del COVID-19, las administraciones tienen que ser impulsores y dinamizadores de la economía y de la creación de riqueza, para contribuir así al mantenimiento y la creación de empleo.

La concejala adscrita al área de Comercio, Cristina Cintrano, ha explicado que desde el pasado mes de junio el Ayuntamiento fue sorteando un total de 4.000 bonos de 25 euros entre los empadronados para que los canjeasen en tiendas y locales de restauración de Estepona. El único requisito para emplear estos bonos es que la compra debía ser por un valor mínimo de 45 euros, por lo que finalmente se han movilizado más de 180.000 euros entre los 166 negocios que se adhirieron a esta campaña. Tras la celebración de tres sorteos de bonos, Cintrano ha mostrado su satisfacción por el apoyo que los ciudadanos han dado a los negocios participantes en la campaña "Compra en Estepona" y ha señalado que la experiencia ha resultado interesante porque también ha permitido dar a conocer mejor el tejido empresarial del municipio. Para seguir colaborando con el comercio local, el Ayuntamiento de Estepona se-

Adjudicadas las obras de remodelación del paseo marítimo

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha adjudicado las obras para la remodelación del paseo marítimo en su tramo central, que discurre desde la rotonda de intersección con la avenida Andalucía (frente al colegio San José) y la rotonda de la avenida Juan Carlos I. Será una de las actuaciones con mayor impacto en la ciudad debido a que el paseo marítimo es una de las infraestructuras más frecuentadas tanto por vecinos como turistas por las posibilidades que ofrece para el ocio, y el deporte. Los trabajos comenzarán

antes de un mes. Los trabajos consistirán en la renovación de todo el pavimento y de las instalaciones. También se procederá a cambiar el mobiliario urbano existente (bancos, pérgolas, fuentes y papeleras) y se sustituirán las antiguas luminarias por luces led más respetuosas con el medio ambiente, lo que supondrá un importante ahorro energético y económico. Además se contempla la renovación completa de la plaza García Caparrós y toda la sustitución y modernización de las redes

Se prevé que los trabajos, que han sido adjudicados a la empresa Prodesur Construcción y Proyectos, S.L, se ejecuten en un plazo de 4 meses. El 80 por ciento está subvencionado por los Fondos Europeos de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER), y el 20 por ciento restante será costeado por el Ayuntamiento con fondos municipales.

Guitarist Daniel Casares will present songs from his latest album "Guitarrísimo", the eighth of his successful career. In this work, Casares offers a set of unpublished compositions, devoid of the instrumental arrangements and costumes that characterized his previous albums. The entire proceeds from the Daniel Casares concert will go to the Este-

pona Association in Favour of People with Functional Diversity (Aprona). The singer Ana Fargas will be accompanied on stage by Paco Javier Jimeno on guitar and clapping by Carlos Grilo and Diego Montoya. Fargas will present her latest show "Canción Flamenca", directed by Paco Javier Jimeno. The proceeds from the Ana Fargas concert will go entirely to the "Estepona Solidaria" association, whose volunteers help the most vulnerable residents throughout the year. La Casa de las Tejerinas, acogerá, la muestra de pintura y escultura de la familia Jordaan

El espacio de arte Fireheart Studios, presentará el próximo viernes, 25 de septiembre, a las 19:00 horas, la exposición de pintura y escultura "Morir por vivir", en la Sala 1 de la Casa de Las Tejerinas, situada en la Plaza de las Flores. La muestra, que se compone de una veintena de obras (14 pinturas y 6 esculturas) será inaugurada a las 19:00 horas, y podrá ser visitada hasta el 8 de octubre, de martes a sábados, de 09:00 a 20:00 horas, con acceso libre. Fireheart Studios es un espacio creativo a cargo de la familia Jordaan, artistas de Sudáfrica que viven en Estepona. Según los artistas, la realización de obras de arte ha sido siempre una parte fundamental de la vida cotidiana de la familia, “como dormir y comer; una forma de expresarnos y explorarnos a nosotros mismos y al mundo que nos rodea, un lenguaje visual, creando un problema y luego resolviéndolo o un servicio a los demás”.

Comienza la gran temporada para el Deporte en Estepona

ste mes de octubre, con las complicaciones derivadas del dichoso Coronavirus, comenzará una temporada deportiva que para el municipio de Estepona, hay que calificar como dorada, por lo que se avecina y es que ni en los mejores sueños se pensaba en la coincidencia en competiciones nacionales de los dos grandes clubes de la ciudad: fútbol CD Estepona y Baloncesto, CAB Estepona. Tras muchos años de ausencia, la Tercera División de Fútbol vuelve al Estadio Municipal Francisco Muñoz Pérez. El CD Estepona logró el ascenso, con el excelente trabajo de Juan Carlos Puertas en el banquillo y un constante trabajo de una directiva presidida por Paco Mena. Con algún tropezón en la preparación del proyecto, la llegada de nuevos inversores (Grupo Primarelli), ha permitido formar una plantilla que buscará en este año como rookie, la permanencia en la categoría sin pasar demasiados apuros. Un acuerdo de colaboración para cuatro temporadas “que dará una estabilidad económica y un impulso deportivo a la entidad”, según afirmó Angelo Cecirialli. En esta campaña los rivales será por cercanía, factor elegido por los clubes, y el subgrupo estará formado por el CD Estepona, CD El Palo, Atlético Malagueño, Vélez CF, Alhaurín de la Torre CF, CD Alhaurino, Juventud de Torremolinos, Antequera CF, Motril CF y CD Melilla, “nos espera mucha competencia y partidos muy bonitos” afirmó el entrenador esteponero.

La campaña de abonados busca ya alcanzar esa cifra máxima de 800 que permiten de aforo las autoridades en estos momentos. En la plantilla como novedades destacan los ex jugadores del San Pedro, Dani Cintrano y Pecas, el delantero Pumareta. La base del conjunto es la de la pasada campaña, con los tres capitanes al frente, José Boga, Chaves y Alexis Ferrer. El baloncesto está de enhorabuena en Estepona. Pocos municipios en España pueden presumir de lo que ha obtenido el CAB Estepona. Jugar en la Liga Femenina 2, la Liga EBA y la Primera Andaluza masculina. El caso de las chicas, dirigidas por Quique Gutiérrez, es único. Junto al todopoderoso CB Unicaja se han encaramado a la segunda categoría del basket español y han logrado una plantilla ilusionante. Nada menos que en la pista con Luci Pascua, medalla olímpica con España y con más de 500 partidos en la élite y 225 veces internacional. Con la situación actual, ha habido un aumento de ciertos tipos de conflictos entre vecinos en algunas comunidades, y una paz y aceptación total en otros. Hay muchos factores que influyen en los conflictos en una Comunidad. La mayoría de las urbanizaciones de nuestra zona, son bastante tranquilas durante los meses de invierno, por lo que los problemas se concentran durante el verano, pero este año ha sido diferente, todo el mundo ha estado nervioso, por razones obvias, durante todo el año, así que hemos tenido conflictos más extraños, en los que se nos ha pedido que mediemos como

Administradores de la Comunidad. Todo el mundo sabe que convivimos con opiniones opuestas en cuanto al COVID. Hay vecinos que llevan las cosas a un extremo de implementación de medidas y otros vecinos que obvian totalmente la pandemia actual, ambas opiniones son respetables, sin embargo, encontrar un equilibrio no siempre es fácil. La gente tiende a olvidar que sus libertades comienzan donde terminan las de otra persona, y eso sería lo principal a tener en cuenta. Hablemos de “nuevas restricciones en nuestra nueva vida”. Puede parecer

que el gobierno español ha sido muy estricto en cuanto a la nueva legislación, pero se han olvidado de que en España, más del 80% de la población vive en Comunidades (urbanizaciones, bloques de apartamentos, conjuntos residenciales, etc.), pero la legislación aprobada cubre las zonas públicas, y no las privadas. Por lo que debemos, nuevamente, interpretar la ley, y eso dificulta la implementación de cualquier tipo de norma en los lugares donde vivimos. El Colegio de Administradores de Fincas de cada región ha emitido comunicados y recomendaciones para que podamos asesorar a nues-

tros clientes, siempre con la base legal de los asesores legales de nuestros Colegios, para que todos nuestros clientes estén protegidos, en la medida de lo posible, en cuanto a la interpretación de estas leyes. No sabemos que leyes se promulgaran mañana, ni si afectaran a las comunidades de propietarios por lo que siempre debemos apelar al sentido común. Cuando hay disputas, como Administrador, generalmente nos vemos atrapados en medio y no hay mucho que podamos hacer ya que no tenemos autoridad legal para sancionar. Las comunidades no cuen-

tan con la autorización legal necesaria para multar a los residentes que no cumplan con las normas, la única forma de aplicarlas es a través de acciones legales o con la policía. Para que intervenga la policía, tiene que ser un claro incumplimiento de la normativa municipal o estatal, como una fiesta en casa a

las 3 de la mañana, o dejar un perro ladrando en la terraza todo el día. Se espera que tomemos medidas, pero no es tan fácil. Como Administradores podemos intentar mediar, podemos ponernos en contacto con el dueño de la propiedad, podemos enviar una carta de advertencia, pero la única forma de avanzar es pasar por el juzgado, y esto requeriría la aprobación de la Comunidad en una junta. Podemos ayudarlo a llamar a la policía, pero la Comunidad no puede ser la que emprenda acciones legales cuando la disputa es entre propietarios, ya que la Co-

munidad en si no es parte de la disputa. Podemos aprovechar estos tiempos para conocer mejor a nuestros vecinos, ayudar a quien lo necesite y estar unidos, ahora más que nunca. Tenemos que recordar que somos vecinos y tenemos que seguir viviendo juntos, y es mucho mejor hablar de los problemas que “echar leña al fuego”. Si teneis un conflicto, intentad un acercamiento amistoso primero, pida ayuda al presidente o al administrador, y haremos lo que podamos, hablando, se supone, se entiende la gente. Vivimos en una parte ma-

ravillosa del mundo y tenemos la suerte de poder disfrutar de nuestro tiempo aquí, así que unámonos en los tiempos venideros, dejemos nuestras diferencias atrás. Y recordemos que muchos de nuestros vecinos tienen sus propios problemas, es hora de ponernos en la piel del otro. Mediation in community conflicts With the current situation, there has been an increase in certain types of conflict between neighbours in some communities, and total peace and acceptance in others. There are many factors that influence conflicts in a Community. Most of the urbanizations in our area are quite quiet during the winter months, so the problems are concentrated during the summer, but this year has been different, everyone has been nervous, for obvious reasons, throughout the year, so we’ve had weirder conflicts, where we’ve been asked to mediate as Community Administrators. Everyone knows that we live with opposing opinions regarding COVID. There are neighbours who take things to the extreme of implementing measures and other neighbours who totally ignore the current

pandemic, both opinions are respectable, however, finding a balance is not always easy. People tend to forget that their freedoms start where someone else’s end, and that would be the main thing to keep in mind. Let’s talk about “new restrictions in our new life.” It may seem that the Spanish government has been very strict about the new legislation, but they have forgotten that in Spain over 80% of the population lives in Communities (urbanizations, apartment blocks, residential complexes, etc.), and the legislation passed covers public areas, and not private ones. So we must, again, interpret the law, and that makes it difficult to implement any type of regulations in the places where we live. The College of Chartered Administrators of each region has issued com-

munications and recommendations so that we can advise our clients, always backed by our legal advisors, so that all our clients are protected, as much as possible, regarding the interpretation of these laws. We do not know what laws will be enacted tomorrow, or if they will affect communities of owners, so we must always appeal to common sense. When there are disputes, as an Administrator, we usually get caught in the middle and there is not much we can do, as we have no legal authority to sanction. Communities do not have the necessary legal authorization to fine residents who do not comply with the rules; the only way to enforce them is through legal action or with the police. For the police to intervene, it has to be a clear violation of municipal or state regulations,

such as a house party at 3 in the morning, or leaving a dog barking on the terrace all day. We are expected to take actions, but it is not that easy. As Administrators we can try to mediate, we can contact the property owner, we can send a warning letter, but the only way forward is to go through the court, and this would require the approval of the Community in a meeting. We can help you call the police, but the Community cannot be the one to take legal action when the dispute is between property owners, as the Community itself is not a party to the dispute. We should take advantage of these strange times to get to know our neighbours better, help those in need and be united, now more than ever. We have to remember that we are neighbours and we have

to continue living together, and it is much better to face our problems than to “add fuel to the fire.” If you have a conflict, try a friendly approach first, ask the president or administrator for help, and we will do what we can, speaking, it is assumed, helps people understand. We live in a wonderful part of the world and we are fortunate to be able to enjoy our time here, so let’s unite in the times to come, let’s put our differences behind us. And remember that many of our neighbours have their own problems; it is time to put ourselves in their shoes too. Love and peace and live happily, we can always argue at next year’s AGM!! En el lagar de la memoria La luz en los viñedos rocía entre uvas una canción para esparcirla en el lagar de la memoria. No sé. No entendía el verso. El mundo bien visto, es una oda. El pueblo, mi pueblo sabe de eso, y creo que todos los pueblos lo aprecian. Lo notan porque hay suspiros entre nieblas y hogares, emociones calando calles y monturas del viento. Tiene su pelo corto, mi niña tiene su pelo así ahora, porque la llevé a la nueva peluquería canina que han montado en la plaza. Mari, mi perrita y yo, después de acabar en la peluquería, paseamos sobre la hora del crepúsculo, cuando el calor va perdiéndose como queriendo entrar en un cielo rojo, virgen y vehemente, según se mire, como todo. ¡Ah, llevan a la niña de paseíto! Cada tarde, la misma mujer saluda, su voz aguda, su andar lento (y eso que nosotros vamos despacio), cuando nosotros la adelantamos. Mari y yo miramos el cielo, el horizonte tiene un crisol donde se guardan los colores para entrar en la despensa de un mundo infinito. –Yo vengo ya de vuelta, por eso voy tan despacio –siempre nos dice lo mismo. –Respiran los almendros o son gorriones en ellos desasnando–. No soy tan vieja, pero mis pies no alcanzan más distancia en sus andares. –Mira Antonio, ahora, en este tramo puedes dejar la perra suelta. –Que no me fio de la niña. Ya sabes que cuando se pela anda más ligera. –¡Que pamplinas dices! –Es que aquí no hay peligro. Hemos tomado el atajo para ver las viñas. –¿Qué viñas? Ahí solo hay casas. Bueno, queda la viña del Breva. –Pues no la sientes, Mari, no oyes el sol entonando canciones en las uvas. En otro tiempo se confabulaban aquí los jornaleros trenzando entre sarmientos colmados de fruto fandanguillos, cantiñas y bulerías. Ay, yo lo recuerdo como si fuera ayer. –Ya estamos otra vez. –Antonio se detiene. Se toca la frente, la calva. Mira a su mujer. El cielo tiene unos últimos rayos como risueños, que los nota en la mejilla de su mujer, ella recita en voz alta un verso, un verso que su marido le repite cada tarde de vendimia–: Estos besos de uva me dan calma. –Eres mala conmigo –No pienses eso. –Ella se le acerca, lo besa–. ¡Ay, si fuéramos aún jóvenes, pero somos pueblo viejo! –El pueblo es siempre joven, como el mar, como el sueño, como el amor. Ya estoy diciendo tonterías. –Sus pupilas se dilataban en el álbum de la atracción que su espíritu todavía sentía. –Pasas mucho tiempo leyendo y se te contagia. Pero el pueblo también envejece, y el mar y el corazón. Lo que es joven es el espíritu. Ah, las aseveraciones. Mientras los dos contemplan el viñedo, la niña, la perra, se escapa. –Ahí lo tienes, le pones el collar sin ajustar demasiado. Ahora a ver cuando viene a nuestro lado. La perra, recién pelada, recién lavada, joven y juguetona, no quiere sino correr por el camino, y al ver a un gato entre la viña, salta, se precipita hacia él. –Vaya, lo que faltaba. ¡Ay, mi niña! –No temas hombre, es natural. Ya vendrá – parpadea y se pone las manos en la cintura, porque en el fondo está nerviosa, retadora contra toda la espesura de los viñedos, y cuando

escucha el ladrido, sonríe y asegura–: la niña siempre viene, pero está mal educada. Antonio tuvo una frutería hasta que se jubiló. Su entusiasmo por esa profesión y la fruta siempre lo hizo feliz. “La fruta es la dulzura del agua hecha forma”, dice. Una vez estuvo a punto de poseer un viñedo, esa era su ilusión, pero el cuñado se adelantó, y le compró la parcela a Lupe, la viuda, y a un precio bajo. ¡Qué lástima, pensar tanto las cosas! Pero Mari, tuvo la ocurrencia de decírselo a su hermano, y este no lo pensó dos veces. Mari, para consolar a su marido le dijo que tenían a dos de sus tres hijos estudiando, uno en Sevilla y el otro en Granada, entonces cómo iban a pagar; pero él que eso se paga poco a poco. En un día de calma todo parece más lento, el viento hace correr el reloj más aprisa. Eso, que no es cierto, le parecía a Antonio y a su mujer una verdad comprobada científicamente, por eso, las tarde serenas se encontraban con el anochecer sin apenas darse cuenta. “¿Ya llevamos dos horas caminando?” “O más…”. Había días, en invierno sobre todo, que los sorprendía la lluvia, como dos adolescentes, entraban en el quiosco, allí, esperaban a que escampara, y de camino él se fumaba un cigarro mientras su mujer hablaba con la tendera, que era la hija de la descansada de Mónica. “Teníamos que habernos quedado en casa”, decía ella. “No pasa nada, mujer, la niña tiene que salir”. Y hubo tardes, casi siempre paseaban por la tarde, y mira que algunos amigos le decían de ir por la mañana, en que el paseo se limitó al espacio que había entre su casa y el quiosco. “Después nos refregará Marta la mañana tan estupenda que hizo”. La mañana era para la pareja compras, música, cocina, lectura, limpieza, hogar en la simbiosis del corazón jubilado andante todavía. –Antonio, ¿te has dado cuenta al pasar?, ya no… –¿De qué me tengo que dar cuenta? –la interrumpe, porque está algo sordo. –Que digo que la tienda de Manolo lleva dos días cerrada. Me enteré, por Candela, que la cogió otro, se la traspasó… –¿Y qué? –No, por nada, es porque allí compré las lamparitas solares tan monas para los nietos. Espero que quien haya tomado la tienda siga vendiéndolas. –Manolo, el alcalde, habló con su hija para que se quedara con la tienda, pero no puede porque esa chiquilla es muy lista y se ha hecho médico. Manolo la traspasa y así puede dedicarse por entero a su gobierno. –Debemos irnos ya. ¡Niña, niña, niña! ¡Venga, que te pongo el collar y nos vamos para la casita. La prueba tiene como fin concienciar sobre la contaminación de plástico en el mar. El cordobés prevé recorrer 160 kilómetros entre Nerja y Manilva Probablemente su nombre no sea uno de los más reconocidos dentro de la disciplina. Aunque encuentra en Cordópolis desde hace tiempo un merecido espacio. Quizá sea, y ocurre sobre todo en Córdoba, porque su trayectoria no está vestida de laureles en competiciones principales. Sin embargo, tiene un palmarés igualmente relevante. El cúmulo de éxitos en su caso es otro que también resulta muy necesario y que permite el deporte alcanzar. No es otro que la activa y permanente colaboración a través del atletismo, en muy diversas modalidades de carrera, con causas de carácter solidario. Y, en este sentido, pocos y pocas hay con su experiencia y, por ende, su aportación. Se trata de José Carlos Gómez, atleta natural de Castro del Río pero residente en la localidad malagueña de Manilva, que cada cierto tiempo completa una prueba a favor de una determinada campaña o situación. De nuevo lo hace este mes de octubre, del lado del medio ambiente y más concretamente del mar. El castreño prepara ya, desde hace semanas en realidad, su presencia en la segunda edición de ¿Sin-plastic-zamos?, una carrera que tiene como fin concienciar acerca de la contaminación que provo-

ca el plástico en los océanos. La competición que no es tal en realidad (por lo dicho) se va a celebrar los próximos días 16 y 17 de octubre. Como detalle importante, el escenario va a ser todo el litoral andaluz con la idea de que dicha labor de sensibilización con el ecosistema marino sea mucho más visible. Respecto de la participación de José Carlos Gómez, el cordobés, tiene previsto recorrer nada más y nada menos que 160 kilómetros con un trayecto que le va a llevar en formato non stop desde Nerja hasta Manilva, donde vive. Por tanto, vuelve a dar muestra no sólo de su gran estado de forma y su ambición a la hora de asumir desafíos, sino de la admirable generosidad para con muy diversas causas sociales. Sobre ¿Sin-plastic-zamos?, es necesario explicar que se trata de una iniciativa llevada a cabo

por la empresa malagueña Reciclados Jurado y alcanza su segunda edición. En la primera ya participó el atleta de Castro del Río, como el único que lo hizo en la Costa del Sol por cierto. La cita va a reunir a un grupo de ultra-fondistas, dentro del que se encuentra precisamente el cordobés, que va a recorrer, en efecto, toda la costa de Andalucía. Son más de 900 kilómetros los que se van a completar entre todos los participantes de una carrera individual que además va a contar con actividades de concienciación como limpieza de playas, visionado de vídeos o charlas divulgativas. Así, el objetivo único y esencial de la campaña es que al fin exista una consecución de comportamientos respetuosos con el medio ambiente. Y el deporte, en este caso el atletismo, es una magnífica vía para lograrlo.

Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas, hay nuevos artículos en todas las tiendas a diario. ¡Pásate por las tiendas regularmente para no perderte ninguna ganga! Además de contar con algunos artículos geniales, las tiendas benéficas de St George también ofrecen la opción de alquilar algunos de sus ofrendas como sillas de ruedas, muletas, cunas de viaje, etc. La organización de la tienda siempre agradece las donaciones de artículos usados de calidad, y puede organizar su recogida si fuese necesario. The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona. In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; whilst the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds, dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of

furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that bargain. As well as stocking some great quality items the St George Charity shops also rent out various items such as wheelchairs, walking aids, travel cots, etc. The shop management welcomes donations of quality secondhand items, and can arrange collection of larger items that cannot be brought in a car, or where appropriate.

The Saint George Charity runs a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet after the current pandemic crisis and this facility has never been more needed than now. Seeing the number of people receiving assistance rocket from a couple of dozen to some 138 individuals the Charity has managed so far, with the generous response from

the local community, to respond to this emergency, although it has drawn on all the Charity's resources to do so. Whilst things are beginning to improve and a few of the people we have helped are beginning to find their feet again financially, we anticipate that the consequences of Covid-19 will rattle on for the majority long after the virus itself comes under control. Banco de alimentos Saint George La asociación benéfica Saint George Charity, es la responsable del Banco de Alimentos, que ayuda a a numerosas personas del municipio con dificultades reales para llegar a fin de mes, tras la crisis originada por la Pandemia del Covid-19, una actividad que esta organización desarrolla de forma habitual pero que en este tiempo se ha convertido en una de las acciones más importante desde su nacimiento como entidad benéfica. Noemi Jiménez y Laura Gómez, las mosqueteras del golf en la Costa del Sol Al margen de la marbellí Azahara Muñoz, centrada en su carrera profesional en EEUU, el Golf femenino de la Costa del Sol tiene dos nombres propios, Noemi Jiménez y Laura Gómez y Las dos deportistas están participando en el Ladies European Tour el Circuito Europeo Profesional así como en el LET Access Series y los torneros que se juegan en España, en un año complicado por el Coronavirus en todos los órdenes. Noemi Jiménez, nació en noviembre de 1993 siendo profesional desde el año 2015. De la Escuela de Guadalmina y nos cuenta que “mi entrada en el deporte era fácil, mis padres han sido deportistas y siempre lo he vivido en casa”. Admite Noemi que no es fácil vivir del Golf “hay que entrenar muchísimo y en los torneos en dos días te lo juegas todo, si no pasas el corte no coges ni un euro, así de duro…” y se lamenta también de que lograr patrocinadores, no es tarea sencilla de conseguir

“tengo suerte, Finca Cortesin y marcas importantes me están ayudando y es un alivio”. A lo largo de su carrera internacional ha sumado varios top-10 pero aún no ha ganado ningún torneo de los circuitos europeos aunque trabaja para lograrlo “la competencia es muy dura y están llegando hornadas de chicas que llegan de la categoría amateur que son espectaculares”. La sampedreña viaja mucho “pero la gente puede creer que hay tiempo para divertirse y no es así, el Golf es un deporte muy clasificado y si pinchas por un mal día se te viene todo el trabajo abajo, pero de todos modos cuando viajamos fuera, intento sacar algo de tiempo antes del torneo para alguna escapadita cercana”, nos cuenta. Noemi no pierde ocasión de ensalzar el paraíso que es la Costa del Sol para este deporte “tenemos unos campos espectaculares y la gente fuera, lo

aprecia muchísimo quizás tal vez más que los mismos españoles”. Esta joven jugadora preguntada por su gran sueño, responde así de contundente “ganar un torneo del Circuito Europeo, en 2018 ya gané uno en el LETAS Access y ahora sueño con el grande”. Laura Gómez, Nació en abril de 1996 y comenzó como profesional en el año 2018. Es una de las más noveles jugadoras, pero ya destacó y mucho como amateur y apunta muy bien como Pro. En su historial ya hay en 2019 un LETAS Access en Montauban y varios Top3, “soy ambiciosa y quiero ir progresando año tras año”, nos dice en el transcurso de la conversación. Noemi Jiménez and Laura Gómez, the musketeers of golf on the Costa del Sol Apart from the Marbella-born Azahara Muñoz, who focused on her professional career in the US, Costa del Sol Women's Golf has two big names, Noemi Jiménez and Laura Gómez and these two women are participating in the Ladies European Tour on the Professional European Circuit as well as in the LET Access Series and those tournaments that are played in Spain, in a year complicated by the Coronavirus at all levels. sa es la cuestión, preguntarse si es aconsejable sufrir las noches sin descanso, o tomar medidas, por ello se puede elegir entre padecer insomnio y morir o dormir. Bueno, Shakespeare tenía razón, todos tenemos malas noches pero, si todas las noches son malas, la realidad es que puedes morir por falta de sueño, esto se llama insomnio familiar fatal. Normalmente, a medida que disminuye la luz del día, los ojos perciben la falta de luz y envían señales para generar melatonina, la hormona producida por la glándula pineal que promueve el sueño. Su temperatura corporal desciende, el corazón se ralentiza y comienzan las 5 etapas del sueño. Las etapas 3 y 4 son el sueño profundo y su cuerpo reconstruye y regenera su energía. Es por eso que las personas más jóvenes duermen más, su cuerpo aún está creciendo. Los días más largos significan más luz del día y el

proceso de la melatonina tiene menos posibilidades de activarse, las latitudes más cálidas hacen que sea más difícil que su cuerpo baje a su temperatura preferida para dormir (1519 grados C). Por ello nuestro reloj corporal (ritmo circadiano), que controla todos los órganos y procesos, puede variar. Puede ser una "Alondra" que se despierta temprano por la mañana, con ganas de irse a la cama más temprano por la noche. De forma inconsciente, podría convertirse en un "Búho" y estar despierto por las noches. El reloj biológico estándar quiere que esté dormido a las 11 de la noche y que duerma 7 horas antes de despertarse a las 6 de la mañana. En este momento, la hormona de activación del cuerpo, el Cortisol, lo levanta de la cama y está preparado para un nuevo día. Los noctámbulos suelen retrasarse 2-3 horas con respecto a los madrugadores en este ciclo. Por lo tanto, si ya has teni-

hat is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous nights, or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles, and by opposing end them: to die, to sleep. Well Shakespeare was right, we all have bad nights but, if all nights are bad, you can actually die from a lack of sleep, it's called fatal familial insomnia. Normally, as the daylight declines, your eyes sense the lack of light and sends signals to generate melatonin, the hormone produced by the pineal gland that promotes sleep. Your body temperature declines, heart slows down and you start the 5 stages of sleep. Stages 3 & 4 are deep sleep, and your body rebuilds and regenerates your energy. That’s why younger people sleep longer, their body is still growing. Longer days mean more daylight and the melatonin process has less chance of kicking in, warmer latitudes make it harder to get your body down to its preferred sleeping temperature (15-19 C degrees ). Your body clock (circadian rhythm), which controls all your organs and processes, can vary. You may be a “Lark” waking up early in the morning wanting to go to bed earlier at night. Alternatively you could be an “Owl” and be more alert in the evenings. The standard body clock wants you to be asleep by 11.00pm and get 7 hours sleep before waking at 6.00am. So the body's jumpstart hormone Cortisol - gets you out of bed and ready for the day ahead. Night owls typically lag behind early birds by 2-3 hours. So, if you have already had your “midlife crisis” be aware that your body generally needs less sleep; you are no longer growing, no longer need the time to regenerate your body. Not an easy one this, I still like my 6-8 hours! The other difficulty, as we get older, is the tendency to be less active, and this actually makes sleep harder. I am not suggesting you sign up for the marathon, but a 20 minute walk a day, getting out into the fresh air, all helps when it comes to going to sleep. Also an afternoon nap is good, but do not overdo it. The experts say a nap is 5-15 minutes, any longer becomes a sleep and that can be worse.

Start making sure your bedroom has the right environment for sleep Help reduce the heat in the bedroom by keeping the shutters down. They also keep the room as dark and this aids sleep too. If necessary put

A little on my pillow clears a blocked nose and helps me sleep. We have a lavender diffuser in the room, it’s the safest and easiest way of providing this sleep aid.

Finally, prepare yourself for sleep, night owls be aware of the delays. Three Hours before Sleep Time your melatonin levels will increase towards its peak time 2359hrs (Midnight). Start to keep any caffeine drinks at bay as they will impact on the effectiveness of the melatonin.

Capilla de la Virgen del Carmen en la Barriada de El Castillo La Virgen del Carmen también es llamada “Estrella de Mar”, en latín “Stella Maris”, y es la patrona de los marineros, celebrándose su festividad el 16 de Julio y en Manilva, en el término de El Castillo tenemos una bonita capilla, a pocos metros de la fortificación que data del S. XVIII. El día 16 de Julio al atardecer y después de la Misa, se sale en procesión, llevada la Virgen por la Cofradía de marineros y la imagen es embarcada saliendo a la mar, custodiada por barcos de pesca y embarcaciones deportivas en su travesía. Flores y sonidos de bocinas se mezclan con los gritos de “guapa” y “reina de los mares”. Los escritos antiguos llevan el origen de esta celebración hasta Israel, hasta Monte Carmelo (Karmel significa “jardín”). A causa de una fuerte sequía, dicen las escrituras que el Profeta Elías pro-

metió a Dios que el rey Ajalo y el pueblo abandonarían al Dios Baal para quien terminara con aquella sequía y subió al Monte Carmelo, para ver si su promesa surtía efecto y en la 7ª subida vio “una nubecita”, poniendo así el inicio de una historia que se conmemora hasta hoy. Muchos creyentes se fueron a venerar el lugar y así nació la Orden de los Carmelitas. Más tarde (S XVIII) el superior de la orden vió como se le aparecía la Virgen del Carmen, con un escapulario que daba “el paso al cielo a quien lo portara al morir”. Fue el propio prior, S. Simón Stock, el que llamó a la Virgen “Stella Maris”, lo que propició que el colectivo de marineros se encomendaran a esta Virgen. Desde 1.901 es también la Patrona de la Marina de Guerra española y demás navegantes del mar.

Hace tiempo que tenía ganas de escribir sobre un tema que cada día inspira a millones de personas de todo el mundo, que también para otros, bastante mayor número me atrevería a decir que, o bien es totalmente desconocido, o bien enérgicamente criticado. Se trata del aprendizaje en el crecimiento personal. Yo no puedo deciros que sea neutral en este tema, pues me considero muy activo en mi vida diaria en el campo del aprendizaje. Desde hace años a través de la lectura de libros, videos explicativos, conferencias eventos, etc. vengo experimentando resultados muy positivos tanto en mi vida pero también en economía. Si, digo en mi vida y en mi economía. En estos tiempos tan extraños que nos ha tocado vivir, es vital pensar de forma positiva de cara lo nuevo. Por qué digo nuevo. Porque toca adaptarse en muchos cambios que personalmente pienso que serán nuevas formas de vida. Poniendo algún ejemplo, nuevas profesiones, nuevos negocios, nuevas costumbres y aquí está la cuestión. ¿Quién está verdaderamente dispuesto y com-

prometido a este gran esfuerzo? !que levanten la mano!. Si hubiese estado contigo ahora mismo es posible que no te hubiese visto levantarla ¿verdad? Bien por falta de compromiso contigo mismo, bien por pereza, bien por falta de propósito o incluso por vergüenza de si había alguien cerca que pudiera pensar que estás loco. Pues siento darte esta mala noticia pero para el que no está dispuesto a hacer cambios, están las excusas con las que nuestra mente nos justifica "racionalmente" el no actuar y mantenernos en el victimismo, esperando que alguien venga a solucionarnos el problema o los problemas. Sin embargo, ahora cuando la utiliza la gente, posiblemente se está refiriendo a un tipo concreto de cocina, la cocina Nikkei es una deliciosa combinación de ingredientes japoneses y peruanos, un estilo de cocina que se remonta al cambio de siglo y que ha influido en los chefs de todo el mundo. Ceviche

It is often considered Peru's favourite dish, to the extent that the Peruvian government created the National Ceviche Day in 2008 to honour Ceviche as part of Peru's national heritage. The traditional Peruvian ceviche recipe requires long hours of marinating fresh fish in lemon juice until "cooked." When it comes to the Nikkei approach to ceviche, the lime is only added for a few minutes to the fish before serving, preventing it from being 'overcooked'. Additionally, ginger is added to provide additional flavour, along with soy sauce.

Tiradito

Tiradito is one of the Nikkei dishes that most reflects the Japanese influence on Peruvian cuisine. It is a raw fish dish that is finely sliced giving it the appearance of carpaccio or sashimi. The Tiradito differs from the ceviche in that with the Tiradito, the fish is cut into thin slices, while the fish in the Ceviche is cut into cubes. Tiradito, like Sashimi, is served raw and is usually prepared immediately after ordering. Tiradito is also not served with raw onions, eliminating that minced onion flavour.

How to make our kids fitter and healthier! Jojo Ruby France

The covid lock down had massive implications to every generation, but a long lasting one for our young population. Youngsters need to run around and burn off lots of excess energy, as well as play sport and to be socially active. After such a long time off school, and for some kids that meant being away from their friends and maybe their favorite sport/ activity, The UK School initiative (which has been running since 2005) was to weigh and measure every child upon returning to school. In a lot of cases (over 50%) those children have gained fat are now considered as being ‘overweight and unhealthy’. Cyclist Elinor Barker has said time spent weighing children at school after lockdown would be better used helping them find a sport they love. The Olympic gold medallist from Cardiff said she had

seen athletes starve and dehydrate themselves the day before being weighed for competitions, just so that the scales say ‘ acceptable’. She posted: “I’ve seen a lot of educated, professional athletes basically starve themselves, completely dehydrate themselves the day before they’ve got a body comp in which we all get weighed.” Body composition analysis is a way of examining what the body is formed of; by differentiating between fat, protein, minerals, and water a snapshot of health can be seen. “I just don’t think that Fat shame is the way forward whatsoever,” she said, speaking later to the BBC. “I really think that time could be used to find sports that kids enjoy. Because you need to enjoy it and build it into a healthy lifestyle, you need to find something that you love. And I think a lot of kids don’t enjoy PE because there’s a lot of hand-eye coordination involved, a lot of competition involved

El Marbella FC, en Segunda B, con el objetivo de convertirse en el equipo seguido por toda la Costa del Sol debutará el 18 de octubre en el Nuevo Mirador, ante el Algeciras CF. Todo un derby Costa del Sol-Campo de Gibraltar para comenzar la campaña. La segunda jornada tendrá como rival, en el

Estadio Municipal Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas, al CD Marino canario. En total esta primera fase constará de 18 jornadas. La última está fijada para el 21 de marzo y será otro derby de los de sabor, ante la Real Balompédica Linense. El CD Estepona regresa a la Tercera división y tendrá un durísimo arranque de Campeonato. Los chicos de Juan Carlos Puertas recibirán el 18 de octubre, en el Estadio Municipal Francisco Muñoz Pérez, al CD Antequera. Costa football teams resume league action in October After much uncertainty and with compliance with the Coronavirus health measures imposed by health authorities, this October will see the resumption of league competition for the region's teams. Marbella FC, in Segunda B, will be aiming to be the team followed by the entire Costa del Sol, and will debut on October 18 at the Nuevo Mirador, against Algeciras CF. A huge Costa del Sol v Campo de Gibraltar derby to start the campaign off. Their second fixture will see them taking on CD Marino Canario at the Municipal Stadium Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas. In total, this first round will

consist of 18 matches. The final one, scheduled for March 21, will be another exciting derby, against Real Balompédica Linense from La Linea. CD Estepona returns to the Third Division and will have a tough start to their Championship race. Juan Carlos Puertas' boys will host CD Antequera on October 18 at the Francisco Muñoz Pérez Municipal Stadium. A week later they will visit San Ignacio in Malaga to take on El Palo and on November 1 they will host Atlético Malagueño.
