EDITORIAL ¡El verano ha comenzado! Este mes de junio, tenemos la noche más corta del año o en algunos casos, la más larga. El 23 de junio con la Noche de San Juan, las celebraciones que tendrán lugar en muchas de las playas de la Costa del Sol. Para la mayoría de la gente esta gran fiesta anuncia el verdadero comienzo del verano. Estepona celebra su Feria de Verano del 2 al 7 de julio, seguido de cerca por otro festival importante “La Virgen del Carmen” el 16 de julio, cuando los pescadores de la región rinden homenaje a su patrona. Tenemos la mayoría de estos eventos y más en esta edición del periódico y también en nuestra página web www.theresident.eu. Con un tono más serio, ahora que el verano está aquí, hay un par de cosas a tener muy en cuenta. Por favor, vigila a sus hijos, nietos etc. alrededor de las piscinas. Cada año sufrimos accidentes fatales por un simple descuidado en las piscinas, si vas a la playa, anota un número de teléfono de contacto en el brazo de tus hijos con un rotulador. Otro gran problema del verano son los incendios forestales, hemos sufrido este mes unos pequeños incendios tanto en Manilva como en Estepona. Además de las precauciones obvias como no encender fuegos o barbacoas en el campo o tirando colillas desde los vehículos, tenga cuidado con el coche a salir de la carretera, muchas veces aparcamos los coches en el campo, encima de la vegetación seca, hay que tener en cuenta que el tubo de escape y los frenos están caliente y pueden causar un incendio. Esperamos por tanto que disfrutéis de un mes de junio con las sardinas, sangría, música y por supuesta la playa. Una vez más, gracias por elegirnos como vuestro medio de información. Un saludo.

The summer well and truly kicks off this month with a steady stream of ferias and fiestas starting on the 23rd June with Noche de San Juan, the midsummer celebrations, which will be taking place on many of the Coast’s beaches. For most people this heralds the true start of the summer so make sure you note it in your diary. Estepona celebrates its Summer Feria from the 2nd to the 7th July closely followed by another major festival in the shape of Virgen del Carmen, on the 16th July, when the fishermen of the region pay homage to their patron saint. You can find details of these events and more in this month’s issue, as well as on our website www. theresident.eu. On a serious note, now that the summer is here, there are just a few things to be careful. Please watch your kids around swimming pools. Every year we suffer the tragedy of fatal pool accidents, often through a moment’s lack of supervision, so make sure someone is keeping an eye on them. The other big problem of the summer is fire, with this year already seeing fires in both Manilva and Estepona. Apart from the obvious precautions such as not lighting fires or barbecues in the campo, or carelessly discarding cigarette ends, be careful when pulling your car off the road into long grass or dry vegetation as a hot exhaust or brakes have been the cause of many a fire. Sorry if I sound a bit preachy, but with a little bit of common sense, we can all enjoy the coming summer months with peace of mind. Until next month...

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha finalizado el proyecto para la ejecución de un recinto ferial y de ocio permanente, proyectado en la zona de Caniquiqui. Será un espacio para el ocio, para la práctica de deportes y para actividades sociales que contemplan una actuación de transformación sobre una superficie total de 66.135 metros cuadrados, y una zona de reserva de aparcamiento de aproximadamente 18.500 metros cuadrados, con una capacidad de 750 vehículos, que puede ser ampliada en hasta otros 10.000 metros cuadrados más, para zona de aparcamiento de caravanas. La ejecución del proyecto saldrá en breve a licitación pública. Será una obra de envergadura para los ciudadanos, porque transformará por completo esta zona del municipio, dotándolo de unos equipamientos de primer nivel, que podrán ser disfrutados durante todo el año. El proyecto de urbanización ha tenido en consideración no sólo el uso ferial (principal destino del área), sino

también los usos complementarios durante el resto del año cuando no sea utilizado como recinto ferial. De esta forma, se ha procedido a una organización radial, centralizando la red viaria en una plaza principal, de la que parten las diferentes vías hacia la zona de casetas, la zona de mercadillo, la zona de atracciones feriales o la zona de restauración. Inicialmente se ha previsto una reserva de suelo para 22 casetas, además de la caseta municipal. Se ha previsto también zonas de aparcamiento interior, además de una reserva de suelo para la ubicación de la feria ganadera, en una superficie aproximada de 3.500 metros. El proyecto contempla además el uso semanal de mercadillo, incorporando una partida presupuestaria para la señalización de las áreas donde el mercadillo se ubicará, optimizando éste, y obteniendo espacio para más de 50 puestos de nueva creación.

Estepona Town Hall proposes a permanent fairground and leisure area The Estepona Town Hall has completed preparation of a project to create a permanent fair ground, which will be built in the Caniquiqui area. The area will be used for leisure, sports and social activities transforming a total area of 66,135 square metres with approximately 18,500 square metres reserved for parking, with a 750 vehicle capacity, which can be extended up to an additional 10,000 square metres to make way for caravans. The project will go to tender shortly. The works will be a major improvement as they will completely transform this area of the town, giving it first-class facilities, which can be enjoyed throughout the year. The proposed development has been planned taking into consideration not only the use of the area for

the fair (it’s main use), but also complementary uses throughout the rest of the year when it is not being used as a fairground. It will be a radial development, with the road network built around a main square, from which different pathways will lead to the huts, the market area, the fairground attractions or the food court. Initially the Town Hall has projected a reserved area for 22 pavilions, besides the municipal pavilion. They are also looking to provide indoor parking areas, plus a reserve of land for the local cattle fair of about 3,500 square metres. The project will also provide for its weekly use as a venue for the Wednesday market, with a budget for marking out an improved layout which will create an additional 50 pitches.

Las obras del casco antiguo realizadas por el Ayuntamiento ponen al descubierto restos de la Estepona romana y árabe El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que las obras de remodelación que se están llevando a cabo en el casco antiguo han permitido descubrir un yacimiento de la época romana (siglos I y III D.C) y otro medieval andalusí (siglos XIII y XIV D.C), de los que se han extraído restos que ahora serán datados por los técnicos para su posterior exhibición en el Museo Arqueológico Municipal. El concejal adscrito al área de Patrimonio Histórico, José María Guerrero, ha explicado que los trabajos realizados en las calles Mar, Álvarez dela Vega, Jubrique, Genalguacil, Mondéjar, Chorro, Troyano, Cruz, Pequeña, Suspiro, Azucena y Santa Ana, “nos han servido para estudiar estos dos asentamientos y poder elaborar planos de cómo estaba estructurada Estepona durante ambos periodos”. Guerrero ha destacado el yacimiento encontrado en la calle Chorro, que podría datar del siglo XI D.C, “por lo que estaríamos ante el asentamiento medieval más antiguo que se ha localizado hasta ahora en esta zona del municipio”, las piletas de salazón y muros romanos encontrados en la calle Álvarez dela Vega, así como unos enterramientos árabes y romanos superpuestos y unos

restos de muro que debían rodear la medina islámica en la calle Mar. Asimismo, ha señalado que en las inmediaciones de la calle Santa Ana, cerca de lo que se supone que debió ser el foso de la fortaleza andalusí, han aparecido una serie de asentamientos fuera de esos muros, “lo que nos ofrece una visión muy diferente de la que teníamos sobrela Esteponamedieval”. Por otra parte, en las distintas excavaciones que se han

realizado tras las obras de remodelación del centro han aparecido restos romanos de interés como monedas, un vaso de vidrio, cerámicas y agujas de hueso y bronce. Además, se han localizado cuentas, un amuleto de plomo, lucernas y cerámicas diversas del periodo medieval, que tendrán que ser analizadas por los técnicos en el depósito de patrimonio histórico para su posterior exhibición en el Museo Arqueológico Municipal.

Se Coloca la Primera piedra para el Teatro de la Costa del Sol en Estepona

En un acto durante el mes pasado presidido por el alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, y el presidente de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, Elías Bendodo, se ha colocado la primera piedra para el nuevo ‘Teatro de la Costa del Sol’. El proyecto, que se espera que tarde 15 meses en completarse, proporcionará un teatro de 600 asientos, junto con áreas de

exposición, cafetería, y toda la infraestructura necesaria para un lugar de actuación moderno. El teatro también tendrá 520 auriculares para permitir la traducción simultánea en cuatro idiomas. El proyecto cuenta con un presupuesto de 5,7 millones de euros, repartidos entre el gobierno provincial y las autoridades locales.

along with exhibition areas, cafeteria, and all the infrastructure required in a modern performance venue. The theatre will also have 520 headsets to allow simultaneous translation in four languages. The project has a budget of 5.7 million euros which is shared between the provincial government and the local authorities.

Estepona celebrará una feria gastronómica en el casco antiguo para elegir las mejores tapas El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha presentado la I Feria Gastronómica ‘Saborea Estepona con Cerveza San Miguel’, que tendrá lugar en la calle Villa los próximos 27, 28, 29 y 30 de junio. Durante el evento, en el que participarán un total de 12 establecimientos locales, un jurado compuesto por profesionales de la gastronomía elegirá las tres mejores tapas. Cada uno de los restaurantes y bares que participen ofrecerán a un módico precio tres tapas diferentes, que podrán ser creadas para este evento o las habituales que ofrecen a sus clientes. Los vecinos y turistas que se acerquen hasta Estepona esos días podrán degustar lo mejor de la gastronomía local. García Urbano ha agradecido a Cerveza San Miguel que haya elegido Estepona para organizar esta feria gastronómica que atraerá a visitantes de toda la provincia y de Andalucía, ya que la empresa realizará

“un importante esfuerzo para promocionar este evento”. El responsable de Cerveza San Miguel, Miguel Hoyos, ha subrayado que plantearon esta iniciativa en la ciudad porque “es un lugar que cuenta con una gastronomía muy diferente a la que existe en el resto de la Costa del Sol y que merece ser conocida”.

Asimismo, la empresa San Miguel instalará carpas para cada uno de los negocios locales que participen en la feria gastronómica. Los espacios estarán dotados de cocina, barra y surtidor de bebidas. Además, se habilitará un escenario para la celebración de espectáculos y actuaciones musicales que amenizarán esta actividad.

Baile ClásicoEspañol y Flamenco El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que el Centro Cultural Padre Manuel será escenario el próximo lunes, 24 de junio, a las 20:30 horas, del espectáculo “Fin de Curso” de los alumnos del curso de “Baile ClásicoEspañol y Flamenco” de la Delegación de Cultura, dirigido por la profesora Maribel García, todos ellos acompañados en sus bailes por el repiqueteo de las castañuelas.

Premios Zonas Verdes

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha recibido hoy al jurado que fallará los premios que cada año concede la Asociación Club de Jardinería de la Costa del Sol a las mejores zonas verdes de la provincia de Málaga. Los miembros del jurado han recorrido las calles remodeladas del casco antiguo, los jardines que se han creado en los alrededores del faro de Punta Doncella, así como las zonas verdes de algunas urbanizaciones y de

varios establecimientos privados. El municipio ha sido considerado como candidato en varias categorías para los premios de este año, y el pasado año obtuvo uno de los galardones por los trabajos realizados en las zonas verdes del Paseo Marítimo. Los premios de este año se entregarán en un acto que tendrá lugar próximamente en el municipio.

The Estepona town hall has welcomed the jury responsible for awarding the prizes granted each year by the Gardening Club Association of the Costa del Sol to the best green areas in the province of Malaga. Jurors have walked the remodeled streets of the Old Town, the gardens that have been created around the Punta Doncella lighthouse and the gardens belonging to

some of the urbanisations and several private establishments. The municipality has been considered as a candidate in several categories for the awards this year, hoping to continue last year’s success for their work on the greenery on the promenade. This year’s awards will be presented at a ceremony in the town in the near future.

Museo al aire libre en Casares

El Ayuntamiento de Casares está preparando dentro del Plan Estratégico de Dinamización Turística un proyecto muy singular que convertirá el casco histórico en un museo al aire libre. La intención es instalar en lugares destacados unos paneles informativos con la historia de los nombres de las calles. Para ello, con el apoyo de una joven contratada a través del programa municipal de empleo

para jóvenes de “becas en prácticas remuneradas”, se está haciendo una recopilación de historias, algunas pertenecientes a la memoria de los casareños y otras con más rigor histórico. Con esta iniciativa se trata de buscar un recorrido más atractivo por el casco del Casares en el que los turistas puedan conocer las historias y curiosidades del pueblo.

Open Air Museum in Casares The Casares Town Hall is preparing a very unique project as part of its strategic tourism promotion plan which will turn the old town centre into an outdoor museum. The intention is to install signs providing information on the history of the town’s street names. They plan to realize this project with the support of a local resident who they have hired through the

local employment programme for young people and who will put together a collection of stories, some of them anecdotes from local citizens and other more historically accurate accounts. This initiative aims to make the route through Casares more interesting and informative for tourists who wish to hear about local stories and curiosities.

Vecinos y Amigos de Marina de Casares The most satisfying project for the club was their recent “Charity Week” raising over 1,000€ in cash and kind donated to a worthy cause, a project that all the members would like to be repeated in the future. The so called “Casares/ Chelsea Flower Arrangement Show” had twice the exhibits of last year, which were all so beautiful and creative. The “Singing in the Rain” creation by Sandy Avis was judged a worthy winner. For the whole of July and August the club becomes librarian for the

Casares Ayuntamiento once again, you will find them in the octagonal cabin on the Casares beach where you are able to collect a book for all ages, lots of leaflets for what’s on and where to go in Casares, and also to get your copy of “The with what’s going on in the area. Socorrista salva a nadador La práctica de una Reanimación Cardiopulmonar mientras llegaron los servicios sanitarios fue vital para la recuperación del bañista. Los hechos ocurrieron el pasado viernes en una urbanización de la Costa casareña cuando un hombre francés de 63 años, enfermo de Parkinson, que estaba nadando en la piscina se quedó sin fuerza entrando en estado de shock. El socorrista Isaac Tocón, de la empresa local SOS Mediterránea, que se encontraba haciendo las labores de vigilancia y socorrismo, lo sacó del agua y le practicó una RCP (reanimación cardiopulmonar) mientras avisó a los servicios de emergencia. Un ejercicio de reanimación que fue vital para la recuperación del bañista que fue finalizada por el trabajo del médico de familia que se personó en el lugar junto a la Policía Local diez minutos

Casares celebra la Noche de San Juan con una gran fiesta en Playa Ancha La Concejalía de Costa del Ayuntamiento de Casares ha organizado una gran fiesta en Playa Ancha para celebrar la Noche de San Juan, durante la tarde noche del próximo domingo, 23 de abril.

Las actividades, que también dan inicio a la Semana Cultural de Casares Costa, comienzan a las 19.00 horas con un castillo hinchable grande con toboganes, piscina con bolas y una carpa ludotecas donde habrá talleres de maquillaje pinta-caras, figuras con globos y taller de colorear. A las 20.30 se inicia un espectáculo infantil con animadores, cantajuegos y juegos musicales de animación con participación del público. A las 22.00 horas está previsto el inicio de la fiesta con música de la orquesta “Fusiones del Sur” que interpretará un repertorio de pasodobles, rumbas, música de fiesta y verano, y durante los descansos la sustituirá un discjockeyanimador. Como cada año el colofón de la fiesta lo pondrá el encendido de la hoguera a las 00:00 horas, un espectáculo de fuego en el que se quemará una escena japonesa con dragón que está siendo elaborado por el Taller de Arte “Juan Ángel y Anja”. Para esta ocasión el Ayuntamiento de Casares ha cedido una barra a una asociación local que se instalará en el lugar de la fiesta.

Casares celebrates San Juan with a grand festival on Playa Ancha The Casares Town <hall has organized a big party to celebrate the night of San Juan in Playa Ancha, next Sunday evening, June 23. The activities, which also initiate the Casares Costa Cultural Week, start at 19.00 h with a big bouncy castle with slides, ball pools and a tent where there will be makeup workshops and face painting, balloon figures and colouring. At 20.30 h the children's show will begin with performers, musical games and musical entertainment with audience participation. At 22 h the party will commence with music

from the orquestra "Fusiones del Sur" who will perform a repertoire of pasodobles, rumbas, holiday and summer music, and during the breaks will be replaced by a DJ/ entertainer. As every year the climax of the festival will be the lighting of the fire at 00:00 h, a fire show in which a Japanese Dragon effigy will be burned, which is being built by the "Juan Angel and Anja " art workshop. The town hall has provided a bar to a local association to be installed in the party venue.

El Equipo de Gobierno inaugura la Calle Isaac Peral en Sabinillas

Calle Isaac Peral opens to the public El Equipo de Gobierno, con su alcaldesa, Antonia Muñoz, realizaba en la mañana del jueves 12 de junio el acto protocolario de inauguración de la calle Isaac Peral en Sabinillas. Una realidad que se demoraba desde el año 2010 y que después de múltiples gestiones tanto por la alcaldesa como por el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Mario Jiménez, ha dado sus frutos y ya puede ser disfrutada por los ciudadanos. Hablamos de una zona, conocida por estar ubicadas muchas sucursales y negocios, en la que el

tránsito es constante y se provocaba un colapso continuo. Cabe recordar que las actuaciones llevadas a cabo en la transitada zona en Sabinillas ha sido la demolición del acerado y asfaltado antiguo, la instalación de las nuevas conducciones de saneamiento. Se ha colocado un nuevo bordillo con su acerado. También contará con una isla ecológica, alumbrado público, red nueva de pluviales y batería de contenedores soterrados. Además, se han adaptado los pasos de peatones de la calle Mijas y Avenida Miraflores para los discapacitados. Y finalizó la obra con trabajos de

pintura y jardinería. Reseñar que a lo largo de la calle habrá zona azul gratuita de aparcamiento pero no estacionamiento, por lo que habrá movilidad en los vehículos. Esta obra se ha ejecutado a través de los Planes de Concertación 2010, programa de inversiones que se efectúa con la cofinanciación de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga y el Ayuntamiento de Manilva. El pasado mes de febrero se llevó a cabo la adjudicación de las obras por un importe de 104.777,59 € más impuestos.

La playa de Sabinillas consigue la Bandera Azul El concejal delegado de Playas en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva, Antonio Parra, ha informado que la Fundación Europea de Educación Ambiental ha resuelto conceder a la playa de Sabinillas el galardón de la Bandera Azul para el año 2013. Así, Parra ha mostrado su satisfacción por haber obtenido este distintivo, ya que demuestra el reconocimiento a un trabajo bien hecho durante todo el tiempo que lleva dirigiendo la delegación municipal de Playas. El edil ha señalado que desde su concejalía se ha sido muy escrupuloso en el cumplimiento de todos esos aspectos así como en mejorar al máximo el servicio al ciudadano, gestión que se ve recompensada ahora con la consecución de la bandera azul. Por otra parte, el puerto deportivo de La Duquesa vuelve a ostentar este galardón por la calidad de sus instalaciones y servicios. La alcaldesa de Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, ha querido agradecer públicamente el trabajo desempeñado por el

edil de Playas, Antonio Parra, y su equipo sin el cual no hubiera sido posible conseguir este preciado distintivo que, como viene siendo tradicional, se izará en la playa de Sabinillas con la celebración de la Verbena de San Juan en la tarde noche del próximo 23 de junio.

Calle Isaac Peral was recently opened to the public after some three months of refurbishment and improvement works. In a ceremony held on Thursday June 12 conducted by the Mayoress, Antonia Muñoz, accompanied by Councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Mario Jimenez, along with a number of councillors and their assistants, the road was handed over for public use. The road is a busy thoroughfare with its large number of banks and other businesses, and to aid parking this road has been added to the Blue Zone scheme allowing free parking, but with an hour’s limit. This project has been in planning since 2010, and constant petitions to Malga’s Provincial Government by the Mayoress and Councillor Jimenez have led to its completion.

Sabinillas Beach is once again awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for quality Manilva’s councillor with responsibility for the municipality’s beaches, Antonio Parra, has announced that the beach in San Luis de Sabinillas and La Colonia has once again been awarded the prestigious ‘Blue Flag’. The Blue Flag is given to beaches which attain a level of cleanliness, water quality, and facilities as laid out in an extensive list of requirements, and is overseen by the international non-governmental organisation FEE, the Foundation for Environmental Education. Sabinillas is one of 550 Spanish Blue Flag beaches announced this year, and joins Puerto de la Duquesa which also holds one of 97 Blue Flags for its marina. There will be a formal flag raising ceremony at this year's San Juan celebration on Sunday June 23.

La Alcaldesa firma los contratos con los chiringuiteros La alcaldesa de Manilva, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez ha estado recibiendo a los empresarios del municipio para firmar el contrato de concesión durante quince años de los chiringuitos del término municipal. Cabe recordar que este asunto sobre los bienes, con la adjudicación definitiva del uso privativo de los chiringuitos de las playas de Manilva se votó a favor en pleno y el de ahora era el paso definitivo para que dichos vecinos comiencen con su explotación. Han sido doce concesiones, lo que garantiza que el litoral manilveño ofrezca un servicio de estos establecimientos tan característicos en la costa. Sobre este asunto hablaba la alcaldesa de Manilva, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez en los siguientes términos:"es un logro político, y por supuesto, para los empresarios, que verán cómo pueden explotar estos establecimientos de cara a esta época estival y prestar un servicio a la ciudadanía notable mirando por el turismo y el litoral manilveño", apuntó.

En unos días el Ayuntamiento licitará la segunda fase del Complejo Deportivo de Sabinillas Una vez los trabajos de la primera fase del Complejo Deportivo de Sabinillas están llegando a su fin, el Consistorio manilveño tiene previsto licitar la segunda fase consistente en la construcción del gimnasio, la entrada y dos salas multiusos. Tanto la alcaldesa, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez como el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Mario Jiménez, mostraron su satisfacción por cómo se están desarrollando los trabajos porque pese a la demora que está teniendo el complejo, pronto se podrá hablar de una realidad. Cabe recordar que el Ayuntamiento de Manilva iniciaba en pasadas semanas el proceso de adjudicación de las obras de

construcción de seis pistas de padel, una pista de fútbol sala y una pista de tenis en la zona exterior del complejo. Los plazos se están cumpliendo ya que se esperaba que finalizaran para el verano. Con esta actuación, se han acometido las obras de todo el exterior del recinto, con lo que se comienza el cumplimiento del compromiso adquirido por el equipo de gobierno que ha supuesto una larga y enrevesada tramitación administrativa que derivó finalmente en la resolución del contrato que existía con la constructora Vera y Gea.

years and guarantee the future of these traditional facilities which are so popular with visitors and locals alike. There are a total of twelve premises licensed to operate on Manilva's eight kms of coastline.

Town Hall to invite tenders for the second phase of the Sabinillas Sports Complex Now the work on the first phase of the Sabinillas Sports Complex is coming to an end, the Manilva Town Hall plans to tender the second phase which will see the construction of the gym, the entrance and two multipurpose rooms. Both the Mayor, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez and councillor Mario Jimenez, are pleased with the development of the project because despite the delay, the complex will soon be a reality. It is also worth mentioning that the Manilva Town Hall has begun the process of

awarding the project to build six paddle courts, one football pitch and a tennis court in the outdoor area of the complex. The deadlines are being met as it was expected to be completed by summer. With this, all the building works around the outside of the complex have begun, working toward the fulfillment of what has been a long and complicated administrative process that eventually led to the termination of the original contract with the Vera and Gaea construction company.

‘Buy in our Businesses’ scheme launched Since the beginning of this month Manilva’s Commerce department, headed by Councillor Diego Diaz, with the aim of capitalising on the huge number of visitors to the Sunday Market, is introducing a voucher scheme to attract those visitors to visit local businesses after their visit to the market. Noche de San Juan 2013 La delegación de Fiestas del Ayuntamiento de Manilva ya tiene elaborado el programa para la gran noche de San Juan. Este año, esa noche mágica se desarrollará en la madrugada del domingo a lunes pero antes habrá actos protocolarios como la colocación de la bandera azul concedida por la calidad de las playas. Sobre las 21:15h, desde la esquina del Burguer King, las alumnas de Gimnasia Rítmica de la Escuela Municipal portarán la bandera azul hasta la plaza del Cali donde se izará. A continuación habrá una exhibición de Gimnasia rítmica,

delante del escenario, en el mismo lugar a cargo de la escuela de gimnasia con su profesora Irene. Sobre las 22.15, la orquesta Tentación realizará el primer pase con los temas más actuales. Llegada la media noche se procederá a la quema de los ninots y los fuegos artificiales, que se han cambiado de lugar y será la zona de la noria la elegida para disfrutar del espectáculo pirotécnico. Paqui López, concejala de Fiestas invita a vecinos y visitantes a participar en esta noche, que da el pistoletazo de salida al verano y a las fiestas locales.

Preparations are well under way for Sunday’s Noche de San Juan celebrations which are held on the beach in Sabinillas. The festivities begin at 9.15 pm when students from Manilva’s Rhythmic Gymnastics School carry the Blue Flag along the promenade from Burger King to the Plaza del Cali where it will be raised in a ceremony involving local dignitaries.

This will be followed by a display of rhythmic gymnastics. Around 10.15 pm the group ‘Tentación’ will begin their evening’s performance. At midnight the bonfire will be lit which will be followed by a fireworks display. In a change from the usual routine the fireworks will be along the beach in front of La Noria.

El pasado 31 de mayo en el Parque del Duque se llevó a cabo el acto de elección de las reinas y damas para la feria 2013. El Jurado estuvo compuesto por: Sonia Saborido Cózar, concejala de Bienestar Social, cultura y fiestas del Ayto de Casares, Juan Luís Villalón Ortega, Teniente Alcalde del Secadero, delegado de seguridad ciudadana y comunicación, Guadalupe Huertas Benítez, Agente Inmobiliario, Maria Jesús Espinosa Altier, propietaria

Tienda de Ropa Dandara en Estepona, y Juan Jesús Álvarez Narváez, miembro de la comisión de fiestas del Ayto de Casares. Cientos de vecinos disfrutan de la Romería de Manilva En los días 8 y 9 de Junio se celebró la Romería de Manilva en el paraje natural de los Baños de la Hedionda. La Coral Municipal de Manilva, Santa Ana, se trasladó para cantar la Santa Misa que se celebró a las 13:00 h. en honor a la Virgen de Fátima y que fue oficiada por el Cura Párraco D. Nicolás Timpu. A éste asistieron miembros del actual equipo de gobierno, entre los que se encontraba la Concejala de Cultura, Eva Galindo; La Alcaldesa, Antonia Muñoz y La Directora de Área, Patricia Recio. El sábado 8, salió la Virgen del Centro de Interpretación “Las Viñas” de Manilva a las 19:30 h; tras acompañar a la Virgen en su recorrido procesional a la ermita, pudimos disfrutar de la Orquesta de la Escuela de Municipal de Música de Manilva, “Sexto Sonido”. El domingo día 9, y tras la celebración de la Santa Misa, la orquesta “Antídoto” animó la fiesta hasta caer la tarde.

Celebrating Manilva’s Romería Manilva celebrated its annual Romería on the weekend of June 8 and 9 organised by Manilva’s Cultural Department and the Cofradía Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno brotherhood. A Romería is a traditional catholic pilgimage consisting of a procession which makes its way to a religious sanctuary or chapel, in this case the San Adolfo Chapel on the road to the Roman Baths. As with most Spanish festivals the religious aspect of the event is complemented by a great opportunity to party, with many people camping on the riverside over the weekend, live music available and plenty of food and drink.

Falete en concierto Con motivo de su Tercer Aniversario, la Peña Cultural Flamenca “El Indio”, ofrecerá en directo el concierto del artista Falete; El concierto tendrá lugar en el patio del Colegio San Luís de Sabinillas el próximo día 3 de Agosto a partir de las 21:00 horas. Ese mismo día tendrán lugar distintas actuaciones flamencas desde las 12:00 horas hasta las 19:00 horas. Todo aquel que lo desee podrá degustar paella gratis. Flamenco star Falete to perform in Sabinillas

To celebrate its third anniversary Manilva’s “El Indio” Flamenco Association is organising a concert by the flamenco star ‘Falete’ at the Colegio San Luis school in Sabinillas on Saturday August 3, from 9 pm. Falete, real name Rafael Ojeda Rojas, is gipsy flamenco singer from Seville and one of the stars of the flamenco scene for over 16 years with different shows including dance, flamenco and coplas and has collaborated with international artists such as Isabel Pantoja, Rocío Jurado and Chavela Vargas. Tickets are 10€ in advance or 12€ on the door, and are available from Gimnasio Alpha Fitness Center en Plza. De la Hispanidad Bl. Posibilidades laborales a través de las bolsas de trabajo En estos días se está procediendo a recibir a vecinos del municipio para formar parte de una nueva bolsa de trabajo en una convocatoria destinada a la contratación de personal laboral en situación de emergencia social en la categoría de operarios/as. Se han recibido 207 solicitudes y en la actualidad se están realizando las entrevistas de trabajo para evaluar las características de las personas presentadas y concretar las posibilidades que tienen. Cabe recordar que desde el Consistorio se han realizado varias bolsas de trabajo con el fin de ofrecer posibilidades laborales a los vecinos, siendo conscientes de que es una necesidad imperiosa. Ya el 13 de diciembre de 2012 se realizó otra convocatoria destinada a la contratación temporal de personal en

situación de emergencia social en las categorías de peones y oficiales de albañilería con diez puestos para dos meses, diez puestos para un mes y medio y seis puestos para quince días. De esta convocatoria se recibieron 71 solicitudes. Otra de las bolsas de trabajo, en este caso realizada desde

la Fundación de Manilva para el Desarrollo (FUNMADES), se propuso el 24 de agosto de 2012. Se seleccionó personal para trabajos de excavaciones arqueológicas en el yacimiento de castillejos de Alcorrín. Campaña 2012. Se presentaron 9 personas siendo escogidas 6 de ellas.

Felicidades. El día 6 de Junio, el autor local Francisco Rodríguez, presentó su libro más personal, “Petra, in vino veritas”. Un evento que se celebró en el Centro de Interpretación Las Viñas, Manilva, y al que asistieron numerosos vecinos del municipio. Esta obra trata de una historia real y entrañable, de una mujer vital, tierna, sencilla y sin remilgos; en la que además el lector puede conocer el crecimiento de un pueblo desde finales de la dictadura de Franco hasta dos décadas después. Tanto la alcaldesa, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez, como la concejala de Educación y Cultura, Eva Galindo, apoyaron al escritor en este día tan importante para él.

El pago del Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles finaliza el 2 de Septiembre

La delegación de Hacienda del Ayuntamiento de Manilva, cuyo concejal delegado es Marcos Ruiz, hace extensible la información que el Patronato de Recaudación ofrece sobre el pago del IBI. El Patronato de Recaudación de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, le informa que el plazo de pago voluntario del IMPUESTO DE BIENES INMUEBLES (IBI) finaliza el 02 de septiembre de 2013. Devengándose a partir de esta fecha los recargos e intereses correspondiente a la vía ejecutiva. Se han enviado a su domicilio los avisos de pago, con los que podrá abonar el impuesto en cualquier Banco o Caja de Ahorros que figuran como Entidades Colaboradoras.

Manilva's Finance Department has advised that the Provincial Revenue Collection Agency, the Patronato de Recaudación, has issued the following information concerning the Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles (IBI) tax. The payment period is now open up until September 2, 2013, after which payments will incur interest or sanctions. The agency will be sending payment advice notes to property owners address, which can be used to pay at

the banks indicated on the form. If you do not receive your payment note then you can visit the local Patronato de Recaudación, next to the Local Police Station in Manilva and they will issue you with one. Alternatively you can obtain a payment form by visiting the website www.prpmalaga.es The easiest way to pay your IBI is by setting up a direct debit at your bank. Don't forget you have up until September 2 to pay.

Manilva 24 Horas Deportivas La delegación de Deportes que dirige Mario Jiménez ha organizado para el viernes 28 y el sábado 29 de junio la XXVIII Edición de las 24 Horas Deportivas Manilva’13. Los deportes acogidos son: ajedrez, baloncesto, balonmano, cronoescalada ciclista, escalada deportiva, fútbol 7, fútbol sala, natación, padel, pesca con caña, pesca con embarcación, tenis, tenis de mesa, tiro al plato, torneos ecuestres y voley playa. El plazo de inscripción se cerrará a las 15:00h, del lunes 24 de junio, siendo el horario de lunes a viernes, de 8:00 a 15:00h. El plazo de modificación de la hoja de inscripción se cerrará a las 15:00h, del miércoles 26 de junio. La fecha para el sorteo de emparejamientos se celebrará a las 20:00h, del miércoles 26 de junio, en el Salón de Plenos del Ayuntamiento de Manilva. (Se requiere un mínimo de 3 equipos/personas, para participar en el sorteo). Todos los deportes serán de inscripción gratuita, excepto en FÚTBOL SALA “Absoluta masculina” (60€/equipo) y PADEL “Absoluta masculina /

femenina / mixta” (10€/pareja). El coste de la inscripción se abonará en efectivo, junto con esta hoja de inscripción debidamente cumplimentada y una fotocopia del DNI o pasaporte de cada uno de los participantes, en la oficina de la Delegación de Deportes, ubicada en Manilva, en Plaza de Martín Carpena, s/n. La Selección Española se alza con el Torneo de Fútbol 7 Internacional La delegación de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Manilva organizaba para el pasado sábado 1 de junio el III Torneo Internacional de Fútbol 7. El campo de fútbol Las Viñas en Manilva acogió a partir de las 10 de la mañana a las selecciones de Rumania, Inglaterra, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Marruecos, Brasil y España. El modelo de competición establecido fue de una 1ª fase: 3 grupos, eliminatorias triangulares. (Se clasifican los 3 primeros y mejor 2º) y una 2ª fase: Semifinal y final. Ante un buen ambiente y una competitividad notable, la selección española, compuesta por futbolistas de los distintos equipos de la liga de fútbol 7 local, con su entrenador, José María Quirós a la cabeza, ofreció el mejor nivel. La calidad del cuadro nacional se reflejó en el campo y así consiguió el campeonato que pone un broche final a la competición de fútbol 7 con la liga, ganado por Bar Vinagre, la Copa, obtenida por Ortega Avilés y dicho torneo del k.o. La alcaldesa de Manillva,

Antonia Muñoz Vázquez, y el concejal de Juventud, Mario Jiménez entregaron los trofeos a los mejores. También quisieron participar en el evento deportivo los ediles, Marcos Ruiz, Eva Galindo y Diego Urieta. Como responsables de la delegación y directores de área de Deportes,

Paco Medina y Manuel Chaves estuvieron pendientes de que toda la organización estuviera perfecta. Como anécdota, destacar que el jugador internacional uruguayo Walter Pandiani, que ha jugado en equipos como Español y Osasuna estuvo en el torneo.

24 Hours of Sport The sports department has organized the XXVIII edition of the Manilva 2013 24 Hours of Sport tournament for Friday 28 and Saturday 29 June. Activities included in this event are: chess, basketball, handball, time trial cycling, climbing, football 7, indoor football, swimming, paddle, fishing, boat fishing, tennis, table tennis, shooting, equestrian tournaments and beach volleyball. The registration period will close at 15:00 h, Monday, June 24, with a current timetable of Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 15:00 h. The deadline to amend the registration form will close at 15:00 h, on Wednesday June 26. A draw will take place at 20:00 h on Wednesday, June 26, in the Manilva town hall’s salón de plenos to decide who plays against who. (Requires a minimum of 3 teams / individuals to participate in the draw). Registration will be free for all sports except football, Absolute male (60 € / team) and paddle, Absolute male /

female / mixed (10 € / couple). The registration fee will be paid in cash, together with the duly completed registration form and a photocopy of the identity card or passport of each of the participants, in the department of sport’s office, located in Manilva, in Plaza de Martín Carpena , s / n. As for the awards, there will be trophies for 1st and 2nd place teams in each sport, plus a prize of 600 € and 200 € for the 1st and 2nd places in the Absolute male category of football. In football, the Absolute male and Single female categories have a maximum limit of 16 teams and the other categories in football will all have up to 8 teams. Participants may enroll in up to three different sports (two team and one single). In case the times coincide, the applicant must participate in the match in which his or her non-presence could lead to the game being suspended. Anyone wanting to register for more than one sport must consult the organisers.

Spain victorious in III Manilva International Football 7 Tournament

Nine teams competed, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, England, Morocco, Paraguay, Romania, Spain, and Uruguay.

Manilva celebrated the III International 7-a-side Football Tournament on Saturday June 1 at the Las Viñas Football Ground in Manilva. Nine teams competed, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, England, Morocco, Paraguay, Romania, Spain, and Uruguay. The competition was organised in to three groups of three from which the winners of each of the three groups, plus the best second placed team, then went through to the Semi Finals and Final. The Spanish team, comprising a selection of the best players from the local 7-a-side league, were the ultimate victors. Among the spectators was the Uruguayan international Walter Pandiani, who played for Osasuna and Español as well as a short stint at Birmingham City.

Time To Formally Become A Tax Resident In Spain

ccording to the Spanish Law all individuals who are living in Spain for more than 183 days a year are tax residents in Spain, and have to pay taxes in Spain for their worldwide income. Many foreigners living in Spain permanently, (for more than 183 days a year), do not pay any taxes in Spain, or submit annual income tax returns. Some do not submit annual tax returns out of ignorance of the law, and others because they are afraid of paying high taxes. Everyone should be aware that ignorance of the law is no excuse, A Tax return should be submitted annually, and taxes should be paid when applicable by all tax residents in Spain. Up to date, the Spanish Inland Revenue has not been controlling the situation of those foreigners living permanently in Spain, despite the fact that authorities are aware of this important group of people. Now the situation has changed, due to the financial crisis, the Spanish Government intends to tighten up its control of all foreigners living in Spain to ensure that they pay taxes where due, and thus avoid thousands of people receiving free health services without paying taxes and without having the legal right to get them. The Spanish Government has decided to be stricter with the legal requirements that allow people to get Spanish health cards. Unlike in the past, now it will not be enough to just register with the local Town Hall (called “Empadronamiento”) in order to get treatment. Therefore, NOW is the time to formally become a tax resident in Spain by submitting your annual income tax return for the tax year 2012, This should be done during the months of May and June 2013. There are many good reasons for doing this. It will enable foreign residents to: 1. Confirm to the Spanish tax authorities without doubt, that they, the tax resident, is living in Spain, and paying taxes when applicable. 2. Have the legal right to receive a health card which allows access to the Spanish Public health system. 3. Avoid the 3 % withholding tax when a real estate property is sold. This tax is applicable to foreigners who sell a property and cannot prove that they are a tax resident in Spain. 4. Benefit from the inheritance tax advantages and allowances applicable to tax residents in Spain (i.e. no inheritance taxes between spouses on the main home). 5. Be considered a tax resident in Spain, thus avoiding the income tax applicable to non-resident foreigners who are owners of a real estate property in Spain (tax form 210). It is important to mention that most foreigners living in Spain are pensioners with low monthly pensions, so they should be aware that they probably will not have to pay any income tax in Spain as the result of their tax return would most likely be zero. However, it is still recommendable to submit an annual tax return, (even if the result is zero and no tax has to be paid), to enable them to be able to take advantage of the above points. CONCLUSION: If you are foreigner living permanently in Spain (for more than 183 days between 1st January 2012 and 31st December 2012) I would recommend that you submit an annual income tax return during the months of May and June 2013, for the tax year 2012. By doing confirming to the Spanish Tax Authorities that you are, without doubt, a tax resident in Spain, you will avoid any potential problems, or fines, and will have all the legal rights that the Spanish Laws recognizes are due to all individuals residing legally in Spain and duly paying their taxes here. Tiempo De Hacerse Residente Fiscal En España

e acuerdo con la legislación española, todas las personas que viven en España más de 183 días al año son consideradas residentes fiscales en España y deben pagar impuestos en España por sus ingresos mundiales. Muchos extranjeros viven permanentemente en España (más de 183 días al año), y no pagan ningún impuesto en España, o no presentan declaraciones anuales de la renta. Algunos no presentan la declaración de la renta por ignorancia, y otros porque están asustados de pagar altos impuestos. Todo el mundo debe saber que el desconocimiento de la ley no excluye de su cumplimiento, la declaración de la renta debe presentarse anualmente, y los impuestos deben ser pagados cuando sea aplicable a todos los residentes fiscales en España. Hasta el día de hoy, la Agencia Tributaria no ha estado controlando la situación de aquellos extranjeros que viven de forma permanente en España, a pesar del hecho de que las autoridades son conscientes de la importancia de este grupo de personas. Ahora la situación ha cambiado, debido a la crisis financiera el gobierno español intenta controlar a todos los extranjeros que viven en España para asegurarse que pagan sus impuestos cuando tiene obligación de hacerlo; y así evitar que miles de personas reciban asistencia sanitaria gratis sin pagar impuestos y sin tener derecho legal a recibirla. El gobiernos español se ha decidido a ser más estricto con los requisitos necesarios que permiten a las personas obtener la tarjeta sanitaria española. Al contrario de lo que ocurría en el pasado, ya no será suficiente con registrarse en el ayuntamiento (empadronarse) para obtener asistencia médica. Por todo ello, AHORA es el momento de ser residente fiscal en España formalmente mediante la presentación de la declaración de la renta del año 2012, durante los meses de mayo y junio. Hay muchas buenas razones para hacer ello. Esto permitirá a los extranjeros residentes: 1. Confirmar a la Agencia tributaria sin ninguna duda, que ellos son residentes fiscales en España, que viven permanentemente aquí y pagan sus impuestos cuando tienen la obligación

de hacerlo. 2. Tener derecho a recibir tarjeta sanitaria que permite el acceso al sistema público de salud español. 3. Evitar el 3 % de retención aplicable a no residentes cuando venden un inmueble y no pueden probar que son residentes fiscales en España. 4. Beneficiarse de las ventajas y deducciones que el impuesto de sucesiones y donaciones aplica a los residentes fiscales (por ejemplo: eliminación del impuesto de sucesiones entre esposos, sobre la vivienda habitual, etc..). 5. Ser considerado residente fiscal en España, y así evitar el impuesto sobre la renta presunta aplicable a los no residentes que son propietarios de bienes inmuebles en España (modelo 210). Es importante mencionar, que la mayoría de los extranjeros que viven en España son pensionistas cuyos ingresos o pensiones mensuales no son muy altas, por lo que deben ser conscientes que lo más probable es que no tengan que pagar ningún impuesto de la renta en España ya que el resultado de su declaración de la

renta será probablemente cero. Sin embargo, es recomendable presentar dicha declaración (incluso cuando el resultado es cero y no hay impuestos que pagar), para que se puedan aprovechar de los puntos anteriormente mencionados. CONCLUSION: Si eres extranjero y vives permanente en España (más de 183 días entre el 1 de enero 2012 y 31 de diciembre 2012 ) te recomendamos presentar tu declaración de la renta del año 2012 durante los meses de mayo y junio 2013. Haciendo esto, confirmarás a la Agencia tributaria que eres, sin lugar a dudas, residente fiscal en España, evitando problemas posteriores y posibles multas, teniendo todos los derechos que las leyes españolas reconocen a todos los individuos que residen legalmente en España y pagan sus impuestos aquí. Noche de San Juan Se celebra todos los años en la noche del 23 de Junio hasta la madrugada del día 24 (Día de San Juan). Hay diferentes maneras de celebrar la noche de San Juan, en la mayoría se celebra con una hoguera. En muchos municipios la celebración central es la “Quema de los bigotes de San Juan”, donde fi guras de cartón piedra, muchas de naturaleza satírica, son paseadas por la ciudad antes de su quema en la playa. En Sabinillas, un gran escenario es construido en la playa unos días antes de su celebración. Esta obra de arte está basada en un tema diferente cada año, y es casi un “crimen” cuando a medianoche se prende fuego. Es costumbre también mojarse en el mar para dejar atrás la mala suerte. Otra tradición es para los hombres jóvenes de la ciudad es saltar y pasar cerca de las llamas, una vez que el fuego está un poco más bajo. En la Noche, normalmente, hay fuegos artificiales, música en vivo y baile hasta altas horas de la madrugada. Sabinillas, no es la única en celebrar esta Fiesta, Estepona celebra un concurso para los “mejores bigotes” y Casares disfruta

Celebrating midsummer on San Juan’s Eve This is held each year on the evening of the 23rd of June and goes on into the early hours of the 24th (Dia de San Juan). It’s the old pagan midsummer celebration which has been ‘Christianifi ed’ by tacking it on to a convenient Saint’s day (if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em sort of thing). There are a number of traditional ways of celebrating Saint John’s Night most of which involve a good bonfi re. In many municipalities the central celebration is the ‘Quema de los bigotes de San Juan’ literally ‘burning of the moustaches’ - where large papier mache figures, many of a satirical nature, are paraded through the town before being burnt on the beach. The Sabinillas Street Party raises over 1,300 € for charity The organisers wish to thank all those who contributed their time and efforts to making the Sabinillas Street Party such a great success Hundreds of people turned out on a sunny Saturday May 25 to celebrate the Sabinillas Street Party which raised 1,312.25 for the Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George. The event, which was held in lieu of the Saint Patrick’s Day party cancelled due to bad weather, was organised by local businesses O’Callaghans, La Barca, D’s Bar and Graingers in collaboration with Manilva’s Foreign Residents Department, and the Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George. A packed day of events included a mini market, barbecue, and a great line up of entertainment with performances by local musicians – Phil Evans, Pete Black, Andrew Charles, Daniella Caballero, Mick Shenton, Clive Live, Gary Fearon,

The Lia Mullins Dancers, Mandy L, Sam Oliver, and Mitch Jansen, all of whom gave their services for free. One of the highlights of the afternoon was Rafael Mayor’s recreation of the Southern Comfort advert, complete with Speedos and sunglasses, which raised over 150 €! Other fund raisers included: T-shirt sales, tombola, cake sale, market stalls, etc. The organisers wish to thank all those, too many to name individually, who contributed their time and efforts to making the Sabinillas Street Party such a great success. para la caridad con La Caixa en Sabinillas, que se han comprometido a ayudar a través de su Programa de Financiación Social. La sociedad ha planificado un programa completo de eventos y actividades para los próximos meses y estará presente en el Festival Live Music Spain que se celebrará en el Camping La Bella Vista desde el 5 al 7 de julio, del que también recibirán un porcentaje por la venta de entradas.

Update - Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George At a recent meeting of the Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George’s committee a number of matters were discussed, chief of which was the causes to be the focus of the Society’s initial activities. A feasibility study is currently being carried out, and a project compiled for submission to the Junta de Andalucia with the view to establishing a children’s refuge and/or orphanage similar to the Casa Abril which was recently closed. This is at quite an advanced stage and we will report on developments as and when we receive news.

Another area in which the Society sees a major role for itself is the support of Manilva’s needy families. Discussions have been held with Manilva’s Social Welfare Department which has identified some eighty families in urgent need of help. As soon as the Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George has more information on the best way to assist, we will launch a campaign, probably in the form of food parcels, children’s clothes, etc. It is the Charity’s intention to petition the local authorities in Manilva for a retail unit in which to open a charity shop. It is envisaged

that this would provide most of the income to finance a scheme of food and clothing parcels. It is has been decided to open the Charity’s bank account with La Caixa in Sabinillas, who have committed to assisting the Charity through its Social Funding Programme. The Charity is planning a full programme of events and activities for the coming months, and will be present at the Live Music Spain Festival being held at Camping La Bella Vista from July 5 to 7, from which we are also receiving a percentage from ticket sales.

Pues cada vez es más habitual hablar sobre este tema en las televisiones, prensa, redes sociales, etc; este problema va afectando cada vez a más comunidades de vecinos, y se está convirtiendo en la preocupación principal de los comuneros, “la morosidad y la forma de actuar ante ella…” Recientemente hemos rescatado un artículo de El Comercio, en el que el Sr. Ramón Escribano, ex presidente de la empresa ahora conocida como ADIF (Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias), retirado y actual presidente de una comunidad de vecino donde reside, en el que expone esta situación de morosidad de su comunidad y la imposibilidad

de prohibir a un propietario moroso del disfrute de, tanto los elementos de primera necesidad, luz, agua, gas. Considerando que la ley es demasiada permisiva con los propietarios morosos, establece, refiriéndose a su comunidad que, “El resto del vecindario les subvencionamos todos los servicios que demandan, pero eso sí no puedes cortarles el suministro de agua fría y caliente ni la calefacción, algo que podría estar en nuestra mano, porque está considerado como un delito de coacción” y continúa con algo que nos ha rondado por la cabeza más de una vez que es…. “Curiosamente estos propietarios son los que despilfarran agua, gas o

electricidad sin ningún rubor” Y efectivamente, como establece el Sr. Escribano, por ley, la comunidad no podrá restringir del uso y disfrute de los servicios primarios de los que disponga una comunidad de vecinos, muy a pesar del resto de propietarios que pagan sus cuotas de comunidad religiosamente y en algunos casos con mucho sacrificio (….) A finales del año 2012, existe una RDGRN, publicada en el Boletin Oficial del Estado que entiende que se puede prohibir el uso de las piscinas a los propietarios que mantengan deudas, esto es una importante NOVEDAD que se está aplicando en muchas comunidades de propietarios.

Well, it is increasingly common to talk about this issue on television, press, social networks, etc. This problem is affecting more and more communities of owners, and is becoming their main concern , "bad debt and how to cope with it ... " We recently noted an article in El Comerio.es in which Mr. Ramon Escribano, former

president of the company now known as ADIF (Administrator of Railway Infrastructures), retired and currently a president of the community of owners where he lives, in which he talks about the negative financial status of his community and the impossibility of prohibiting a debtors enjoyment of both the basic necessities, electricity, water, gas, and of the extra amenities i.e. swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna. Considering that the law is too lenient with debtors, he states, referring to his community, "The rest of the owners will subsidise all of the services that they require, but of course you cannot cut off the supply of hot and cold water and heating, something that could be in our power, because it is considered a crime of coercion " and what also continues to

bother him is that.... "Interestingly these owners are the ones who waste water, gas or electricity shamelessly" And indeed, as stated by Mr. Escribano, by law, the community may not restrict the use and enjoyment of the primary or secondary services which you have in a Community of owners to debtors, in spite of the fact that there are owners who pay their community fees religiously and in some cases with great sacrifice (....) In late 2012, there was an RDGRN published in the Official State Gazette, that you can prohibit the use of the pool to homeowners who have debts, this is an important NEW move that is being implemented in many communities of Property Owners.

Age Concern Donation Age Concern is very grateful to Paul Desforges for undertaking a sponsored 225km cross-Pennine cycle ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth over three days in early May to raise funds for the charity. Over 100 sponsors backed Paul to the tune of 1,230â&#x201A;Ź - a fantastic achievement. Eileen Dry, President of Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, received the cheque from Paul last week. Paul did not ride alone but was supported by Mark, Peter, and Alan who made sure he rode to the end, and none of them needed the services of the charity when their goal was reached. Moscas del cine Sobre las alas de las moscas del cine de la ciudad, miles, millones de historias habían dorado el sueño de la gente. Una mosca, entre todas ellas, se precipitó un día contra la puerta de salida de emergencia de la sala. Todas las moscas se salvaron de los insecticidas. Pero la mosca Petra, quedó escondida en la falda de una muchacha distraída, quebrada por los perfiles sonámbulos de sus artistas preferidos. Así que todas las moscas huyeron, menos ella, que pudo sacudir el veneno absorbido sobre las nalgas de la adolescente y ver junto a la joven la película completa. A la muchacha le gustó tanto el filme, que quedó ensimismada, sin percibir la intromisión de la mosca –y eso que tienen fama de pesadas–, pero James Bond, le fascinaba

en tanta medida que su cerebro decomisó los bienes de su inteligencia al fisco para mayor esplendor económico del cine, y entre aventura y aventura, y mujeres conquistadas por el personaje masculino, la joven perdió conciencia de la realidad entregando el cuerpo al amante protagonista. Algunas veces las moscas –famosas por molestas– se decían entre sí que para latosas, muchas de las cintas de celuloide. Hubo una película sosa que se proyectó durante seis meses y medio. Pero a la mosca Petra, eso no le afectaba porque utilizaba sus alas en casi todas las pantallas de cine de la ciudad y de los pueblos de la capital, siéndole posible ver distintas proyecciones, y cuando una de ellas no le interesaba, llamaba

a la tropa para amargarle la vida al acomodador y al que proyectaba la cinta, antes de la fumigación y de que salieran todas volando-corriendo, corriendo-volando, o en un extremo, defecaban encima de las cabezas de las espectadores. La mosca Petra era la consecuencia de una extraña mezcla entre mariposa y mosca, que podía vivir hasta cuatro años, de cuando la invasión de las mariposas en paro, que querían demostrar a toda costa, la calidad de una pantalla hecha con alas del citado insecto lepidóptero. Como siempre, el taxista, que era más el chofer particular de Raúl y Marta que taxista, se puso a oír música en el coche y se dijo: “¡Estoy harto de oír música mientras espero! Si tengo que estar aquí encerrado en el automóvil hasta el final de la película, ¿por qué no entrar en el cine y verla yo también?” Entró en el cine. Raúl y Marta no lo vieron. Raúl y Marta, además de hacer rehabilitación diaria de cinco a seis, no se perdían la proyección diaria de siete a nueve –quedándose, eso sí, dormidos la mayoría de las veces–, y en el antes y el después de la vida en el cine, intentaban que la memoria vieja saliera a la conquista de otra rehabilitación: restauración de las neuronas de actores de segunda, en el olvido de los telespectadores. El taxista se sentó al lado de la adolescente. La mosca, no se fiaba, y creyendo que era un fumigador disfrazado de taxista, huyó volando y se posó en la barbilla de una actriz (qué importa el nombre), y entonces la pantalla invocó en un soplo de luz el pérfido beso que causó problemas al agente 007, que podría ser el 008 o el 009, según número de delitos cometidos por la prensa a la

hora de hacerle publicidad a tan famoso personaje. La cuestión es que ese soplo de luz, consiguió que la mosca Petra se defraudara de las irrealidades de la cinematografía –no como en los tiempos en que las pantallas eran de alas de moscas–. Ella, que creía saberlo todo sobre el séptimo arte (que podría ser el octavo o noveno, según número de delitos cometidos al arte en cada espectáculo), se dividió de engaños y se retorció en un psrrrrrr..., largo y decidido para salvar al agente 007. El taxista, joven y moreno, miraba más a la adolescente que a la película. En un intento de entablar conversación, probó suerte a hacerle una pregunta, cosa que no lograría hasta el final (porque como he dicho, si así se dice, la muchacha estaba ensimismada). Pero el taxista insistió, con el placer de hablar en el silencio tan sonoro de una sala de cine: “¿Eres de provincias?” Y ella no respondía porque su héroe estaba sufriendo por ese beso maldito dado por su amante (y digo yo, que el agente no sea tan mujeriego), pero si lo hubiera hecho, habría respondido al taxista: “No, pero tú sí lo eres, un pueblerino chabacano. Aunque vivas en la capital se te nota”, eso lo diría por su rudeza o por su color moreno, que no era sino por el sol tomado tras los cristales del taxi día tras día en el ir y venir por calles y avenidas. Le llamaron la atención para que el placer de hablar en el silencio sonoro de una sala de cine se acallara, y la joven pensó

finalmente: “Éste ha visto muchas películas, seguro que muchas de ellas groseras, pero yo he visto más”. Cuando salió de la sala, el taxista se alegró de que el estruendo de la calle rindiera homenaje con y por una sinfonía de contadores y marcapasos mecánicos modernísimos, los cuales, al entrar y salir el cliente del taxi, se le permitía averiguar exactamente si el taxímetro decía o no la verdad, ya que estaba conectado a un vocabulario de palabras ciertas que no se dejaban engañar por los números. Pero al llegar a la Plaza de los Álamos, un internauta (qué palabra más...) insultó con sus dedos portentosos las teclas, descontrolando el sistema operativo, y descalabró el invento. Aquello, no perjudicó al taxista, porque Raúl y Marta, seguían cada día yendo a rehabilitación y luego al cine. Y a él, que ya no se quedaba nunca a oír música, comenzó a gustarle más y más el cine (tratando de ilustrarse cada día más), comprobando que la semiótica de éste era muy diversa y compleja, y que allí, la figuración y la imagen eran preferibles a las palabras, no como en las tablas; así que se hizo actor –cosas que pasan en la ciudad–, pero de teatro, ya que no se fiaba de las pantallas hechas con alas de moscas porque podían eternizar en la imagen a la figura humana y entregarle mitología de mariposa guerrera. Orange Peel album launch - Bing Bing!

By El Intercambio's Grande Gordo Papa Fresh from listening to their debut album and looking forward to a monster weekend which included a visit to the Mario Kerb & Mauro Nakimi Alive lab Techno showcase in Manilva, El Intercambio’s The Odd Couple arrived the Orange Peel launch party. A great night with a host of Gibraltarian and Spanish musical luminaries in attendance including ‘Come in Leon’, ‘Headwires’, ‘The

Noiz’, ‘Sista Dee’, ‘Tragic John’, ‘Voodoo Monkey’, ’J Gusto’, Peter Martinez, ‘Mr. Jeckyll’, ‘3 Days II Rise’ and many more. making the crowd a virtual Who’s Who of local talent. With The legendary and recently refurbished Rock on the Rock club hosting the event and a table full of food topped off with a cake iced with the debut album’s title ‘Bing Bing’, (courtesy of Luke Bossano’s mother and family), Orange Peel introduced their set. Starting with a heartfelt thanks to all of those

who helped them on their journey as a band and the creation of the album they hammered through the tracks in order of appearance on the CD and proceeded to do what they do best, rock the living daylights out of their tracks, captivating the crowd and having great amounts of fun whilst doing so. For me it is again this fun element which defines this group over and above all others. Not because their performances or songs are particularly funny because they are not (they leave that part for the interviews!), but because their whole presence, attitude and music are fun. They are a thoroughly enjoyable band to watch, something that has won them first place positions in the ‘Battle of the Bands’, not only in Gibraltar but in Sotogrande as well. As such my favourite moments of their first set coincided with my favourite tracks on the album making the live versions of ‘Little creature’, ‘Self Destruct’, ‘White Lie’ and ‘Wait Until Tomorrow’ the high points of the night, particularly the performance of ‘Rest in Piece’ which included Daniel’s visual poetry as he once again turned bass playing into not only a sonic but a performance art. As stalwarts of the Gib scene Orange Peel are known for inviting other bands on stage to perform with them, usually to perform the shouty bit in their soon to be hit ‘Bing Bing’. On this occasion it was Evan Torrente, the immense talent from the immensely talented Headwires (this is a group to look out for folks), who joined them on stage dancing like a Muppet, hair and limbs shaking in all directions stopping in time with the music only to join the crowd in shouting the chorus

“Bing Bing!”. Orange Peel are a great performance band and as such it is easy to find yourself so transfixed by them you forget to dance so I was happy to see crowd members including your’s truly shaking a leg to some of their more dancey numbers. I mean let’s face it, the first five tracks are non-stop thumping rock anthems to dance along to. But it was the final track with which they stole their own show. Musically stepping up to another level and hinting at the advancement we can expect from future outings of the orange ones it is a mind-boggling track and was backed by a mind-boggling and energetic performance to match it. Gibraltar being a fair old punt away we sadly had to leave after the first set but having been to many a launch party over the years I must say that this was truly a stand out and memorable event. Partly because of the catering courtesy of the Bossano extended family (yes there was scrumptious vegetarian food available and I ate my fill), partly because of the camaraderie that exists within the Gibraltar music scene and partly because Orange Peel were a great performance band performing a great album and creating a great night. Now performing regularly in Spain, (including the Live Music Festival on the 5th of July at Camping La Bella Vista, Manilva). So if you get the opportunity don’t miss the chance to see this award winning performance band and if you want this performance energy at home or in your car go out and buy the album. Bing Bing!

Junio verá la final de lo que ha sido una muy larga pero exitosa temporada de rugby tanto para Marbella como para Andalucía. Hemos visto al equipo Marbella Sub-18 ganar el título nacional por tercer año consecutivo y al Sub14 ganar el tercer lugar en el campeonato celebrado en Valladolid.

A principios de mes, la región celebró el campeonato nacional Sub-16 en San Pedro. Se desarrolló durante 2 días, participando 26 equipos de casi todas las regiones. El evento fue un gran éxito y los partidos se jugaron en un clima perfecto y con gran espíritu. En la competición principal, el excelente equipo de CAU Valencia

venció a Marbella en la final. En la competición abierta, Ciencias de Sevilla fue subcampeón y Portuense de Cádiz quedaron terceros. Una vez más demostrando que el rugby en Andalucía está en gran forma. En el nivel superior, España Sub-18 ganó el título A de la división europea, lo que les deja a sólo un partido de unirse a la élite europea de Inglaterra, Gales, Irlanda, Francia, Escocia y Rusia. Esto fue especialmente importante para la región al ser de Marbella 6 de los jugadores principales. Debido a este éxito, Daniel Stohr ha firmado para unirse a la prestigiosa academia de Burdeos en el top 14 francés. Este es un gran honor y un reconocimiento por el arduo trabajo que Danni ha dedicado a su juego durante los últimos años. Le deseamos lo mejor. A nivel Sub-17 MRC ha proporcionado tres jugadores a la selección española que ganó el reto europeo transfronterizo en Holanda. June sees the final action of a very long but successful rugby season 2 days with 26 teams from almost all regions taking part. The event was a tremendous success with matches being played in perfect weather and great spirit. In the main competition, the fantastic team of CAU Valencia beat Marbella in the final. In the open competition, Ciencias of Sevilla were runners up while Portuense of Cadiz were third. Again showing that rugby in Andlaucia is in great shape. On a higher level, Spain U18 won the European division A title, which leaves them just one game away from joining the European elite of England, Wales, Ireland, France, Scotland and Russia. This was especially important for the region as 6 of the starting players were from Marbella. On the back of this success, Daniel Stohr has been signed to join the prestigious academy of Bordeaux in the French top 14. This is a massive honour and is recognition for the hard work Danni has put in to his game over the last few years. We wish him well. At U17 level MRC provided three players to the Spanish team who went on to win the European cross border challenge in Holland. At senior level, Marbella have appointed Alan Davies as the new head coach. Alan brings an enormous amount of skills, knowledge and passion to the club. He has played over 300 matches for Dorchester and June will see the final action of what has been a very the third year in a row and the U14 gained third place the combined services in the UK. Gran nivel en el Primer Encuentro Internacional de Clubes de Esgrima en Gibraltar

El pasado mes el Club Internacional de Esgrima “AndaluZia” participó en la competición internacional organizada por el Club de Esgrima militar Gibraltar Fencing Club. A la competición acudieron esgrimistas desde 14 años de edad tanto en categoría femenina como masculina. Pequeños y grandes tiradores acudieron a la cita en la sala de armas gibraltareña de la base militar Devils Tower Camp que contó con el calor y la ilusión de participantes y organizadores. Todos los deportistas y sus familias así como el público que acudió a la competición disfrutaron de la magnífica exhibición de estos tiradores. Para

algunos de ellos fue su primera prueba demostrando una gran competitividad y juego limpio que les hicieron acreedores de trofeos, medallas y premios conmemorativos. Los ganadores en categoría absoluta fueron P. Holder , A. Zerrada y el Coronel J. Powell y M. Maldonado, R. Vindel y A. Cooper , en categoría femenina. Great performance at I International Fencing Club Competition in Gibraltar Last month Estepona’s Club Internacional de Esgrima “AndaluZia” fencing club took part in an international competition organised by the Gibraltar’s Forces Fencing Club. The competition was open to fencers from 14 years old in both men’s and women’s categories, and was held at Devil’s Tower Camp, Gibraltar. All competitors, their families, and spectators enjoyed a magnificent display of swordsmanship from the fencers, some of whom were competing in a tournament for the first time. The winners at men’s senior level were P. Holder, A. Zerrada and Colonel J. Powell, with M. Maldonado, R. Vindel at A. Cooper triumphing in the women’s category. In the under-15s honours go to H. Shields, A. Garcia and M. Wellington. Mention for a great performance also go to A. Castro, P. Medina, S. Cozar, S. Gaviria, M. Vidal, J. Page and C. Kelly, taking part in his first competition together with P. Clarkson and A. Jones. práctica del asado en los 5 continentes, y ser uno de los pocos eventos de carácter mundial que une a las personas, sin ideología, sin política y sin religión. En el campeonato, los equipos de los distintos países usaron tanto técnicas tradicionales como artefactos modernos, alimentados a leña o gas. Todos cocinaron los mismos alimentos: dos platos a base de cordero, uno con pollo, uno con carne vacuna, y un postre, cocido en un 60 por ciento con el método del asado. Ante tanta diversidad, se juzgó los platos por el sabor, la consistencia, la limpieza y la presentación. Durante los tres días, un jurado formado por: chefs, críticos gastronómicos y periodistas; de los cuales 6 eran Españoles entre los que yo me encontraba, tuvieron la difícil tarea de juzgar las presentaciones de los diferentes equipos y distribuir los 30.000 euros en premios que

otorgó la organización. De cada plato los jueces evaluaban un 50% por el sabor, un 20% de originalidad, otro 20% presentación y el 10% restante si está bien cocido. El campeonato comenzó el viernes 24 de mayo a las 12.00h. con la bienvenida al 12º campeonato mundial de barbacoas, y se ofreció un almuerzo a los participantes y jueces que consistía en “Cuscús”, en el hotel Oriental Bay Beach El sábado 25 a las 18.00h. se realizó una exhibición entre el Mechouí Marroquí y el Asado Argentino, este partido amistoso terminó con 10 corderos a la estaca, realizado por los Argentinos y 3 corderos al estilo Mechouí, Marroquí. Los dos estaban espectaculares El domingo 26 comenzó el campeonato propiamente dicho. La reconocida habilidad de los Argentinos con el asado no se tradujo con éxito en el

campeonato mundial que se llevó a cabo. El primer lugar fue para el equipo de Dinamarca, el segundo puesto correspondió a los Alemanes y el tercero lo obtuvo el equipo de Liechtenstein. El equipo Danés triunfador se denomina PureBBQ. Kim Schulz, un ingeniero en sistemas que dedica su tiempo libre a los asados, es el presidente de la Asociación Mundial de Asados en Dinamarca. Los participantes, jueces e invitados tuvieron que afrontar, y superaron la pésima organización, con tremendos fallos, como el hecho de tener sólo un terrible baño (letrina ) para más de 1500 participantes en la plaza Magreb Arabe de Saidia, lugar del evento. Aparte de los problemas de desorganización, el evento es fantástico y fue un orgullo participar como juez.

XII World Barbecue Championship The 12th World Barbecue Championship was recently held in Saidia, a small resort located in northeastern Morocco, alongside the Mediterranean Sea, known as the "blue pearl". The event began on May 24 ending on Sunday May 26, 2013, with over 42 teams representing 24 different nationalities, including Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, Argentina, Morocco, Liechtenstein, Libya, Congo, Australia and France, among others. The event was organized by the World Barbecue Association which is based in Switzerland. This championship is intended to expand the knowledge of the various methods and styles of roasting around the world, sharing culinary secrets, technical improvements and preserving and promoting the practice of barbecue on 5 continents, and is also one of the few global events that brings people together without involving ideology, politics or religion. The teams from different countries used a mixture of traditional techniques and modern appliances,

wood or gas powered. All participants cooked the same foods, two lamb dishes, one chicken, one beef, and dessert, which all had to be at least 60 percent barbecued. With such diversity among contestants, the dishes were judged by taste, consistency, cleanliness and presentation. Over three days a jury of chefs, food critics and journalists, of

which 6 were Spanish (including me), had the difficult task of judging the performance of the various teams and distributing the 30,000 euros in prizes awarded by the organization. and 3 Mechoui style lambs cooked by the Moroccan team, both were spectacular. On Sunday 26 the tournament began. The recognized barbecue abilities of the Argentine team did not translate to success at the world championships. First place went to the team from Denmark, second place to the Germans and third place went to Liechtenstein. The winning Danish team, PureBBQ, is headed by Kim Schulz, a systems engineer who devotes his spare time to barbecuing, and is the president of the World Association of Barbecues in Denmark. Participants, judges and guests alike had to face, and overcome, the unsuccessful organization, with tremendous failures such as having just one terrible bathroom (latrine) for over 1,500 participants in the Arab Maghreb Saidia square, which was the venue for the event. Apart from the disorganization issues, the event was fantastic and I was proud to participate as a judge.

Beware of Facebook Freebies! Very few words can capture one’s attention more than the word ‘FREE.’ You would think that the constant use and overuse by marketers worldwide would eventually desensitize us to its power, but such is not the case. Just seeing the word on a page, in an online advertisement, or hearing it on the television or the radio is enough for the average person to stop and take notice. Facebook scammers and spammers have enjoyed great success with the lure of false promises. At any given moment, you don’t have to look very hard to find the following “Free” offers or scams on Facebook: • Free iPads, iPhones, Computers, etc. Including iPad Giveway and other ‘Giveaway’ Pages • Free Gift Cards & Vouchers • Free Airline Ticket Offers • Free Facebook Credits • Free Facebook Events • Free Virtual & Game Items • Facebook Lotteries 99% of the time, the end game encountered by unsuspecting users is either a survey scam or a marketing gimmick where you have to complete several ‘special’, ‘reward’ or ‘bonus’ offers to qualify for the promotion. These offers often cost real money, and we have yet to hear of a case where the participant actually received anything after jumping through all of the hoops. What’s in it for the scammers? So why do the scam creators go through all of the trouble? If there is a word more powerful than ‘FREE,” it could be ‘MONEY.’ The more benign scams are

run by marketing companies that get paid a commission for each survey completed or offer accepted. Users often submit their name, date of birth, home address, email address and phone number while signing up for the ‘special’ offers. As you can imagine, this is a treasure trove of data for unscrupulous marketers and identity thieves. Another danger with survey scams is the potential for malware infections. Users are often tricked into downloading what they think are games, browser plug-ins or other files. If their system isn’t protected, then they could unknowingly install a virus, keylogger, or all sorts of other malware.

How can you protect yourself from these scams? The first step is to be aware that scams like this are prevalent on Facebook. If you have the mindset that most of the ‘free’ offers you encounter are bogus, then you’ll be a step ahead of the game. Think before you Click! If the offer sounds too good to be true, then don’t click that link! There is no way a company can afford to give every Facebook user a $25.00, $50.00 or $100.00 gift card. A little common sense here tells you that something is way off base. If the offer being presented sounds like it could be legitimate, then contact the company to verify the promotion. Visit their website or contact them on the telephone. This will only take a few moments and could save you a lot of trouble down the road. Cardio versus Resistance Training for weight loss! Which one is the most effective? A question I ask all of my clients is what is most important to them, weight loss or changing the shape of their body? Being lighter doesn't always mean looking better, but being toned does! From my experience aerobic work can definitely help with weight loss but along the way reduces the size of the muscles within our body (lean mass loss), this can lead to sagginess and poorly toned bodies which most people want to avoid. There is massive difference between a pound of fat loss and a pound of muscle loss. I would always advise to grow the muscle mass not reduce it. Science does tell us that the more lean muscle we have the higher your resting metabolic rate, the higher your resting energy expenditure (REE).

That means even when we are not doing anything our bodies will burn off more energy (calories) leading to more fat loss. So is the answer resistance training? (or weight training) which if done incorrectly can add bulk to a body, and even worse, show very little change for the effort we put in. So the answer is easy, combine aerobic activity with resistance training. I have been teaching combination workouts for many years. I feel they offer the most effective overall weight loss programme whilst increasing the lean muscle and changing the shape of the whole body, as always it is a balancing act, if your body is carrying extra fat, then watching what you eat is crucial, exercise alone is not the answer.

Alternating resistance training and body weight exercises with intense aerobic activities, with minimum rest and maximum effort.

What does a Chiropractor do?

Osteoarthritis (OA), or degenerative joint disease, affects millions of people and is more common in women than in men. A six-year-old Trojan malware virus nicknamed “Zeus” has been making a serious comeback on Facebook. The virus works by lying dormant on a user’s computer until they access an online bank account. It then springs into action, stealing the user’s password and draining their accounts. It can even replace a bank website with its own page to goad users into giving up even more personal information, like a social security number, which the scam artists can then sell on the black market. The Zeus bug only affects PC users, and spreads through typical malware schemes like fake links encouraging users to click through to see an unusual video or post. The scam is suspected to originate with a Russian criminal syndicate known for illegal online activities including online theft and child pornography. Researchers from the security firm Trend Micro have noticed a steady increase in the Zeus bug’s effect on Facebook over the past year, and its reach even peaked in May. Eric Feinberg, founder online security advocacy group Fans Against Kounterfeit Enterprise, has notified Facebook about the threat posed by these scam links and fake pages, though he claims that Facebook has not done enough to address the issue. “If you really want to hack someone, the easiest place to start is a fake Facebook profile– it’s so simple, it’s

stupid,” he said. “They’re not listening. We need oversight on this.” As insidious as these scams are, they can be easily avoided by never clicking on links that don’t originate from a trusted source. Facebook users should read all link URLs carefully before clicking to ensure that they’re legit. Aunque resulta un manjar para la mayoría de los humanos, se trata de un auténtico veneno para los perros, sobre todo, si se trata de chocolate negro. Tan solo seis gramos de chocolate por kilo de peso de nuestras mascotas, son suficientes para provocarles diarreas, temblores, espasmos, problemas respiratorios y cardiacos que desemboquen en la muerte. 2. Paracetamol

En alguna ocasión hemos visto como algún amigo o familiar ha suministrado a su mascota un medicamento típico de humanos. Eso es muy peligroso ya que no siempre responden o toleran a medicamentos por igual. 3. Desinfectantes

La nocividad que produce la ingestión de estos productos en seres humanos hace que en este caso sí que seamos más conscientes del posible daño que pueden causar en un animal. 4. Bolitas de naftalina

Bolitas de naftalina son un enemigo natural de nuestro perro o gato, que al comer una, puede sufrir daños en el hígado y el sistema nervioso central. Sus síntomas incluyen vómitos y convulsiones. 5. Detergentes y suavizantes

Detergentes y suavizantes en general son muy nocivos para los animales. Cualquier síntoma de hipersalivación (babeo), letargo, vómitos... es suficiente para acudir urgentemente a un veterinario. Si además la cosa empeora con quemaduras en la boca, convulsiones, shock y coma, muy probablemente sea porque tu perro se haya intoxicado con algún tipo de detergente. Es fundamental mantenerlo fuera de su alcance.

6. Ácido bórico

El ácido bórico puede producir envenenamiento en un animal, ocasionándole vómitos, babeo, convulsiones y coma. Por eso resulta fundamental poner fuera de su alcance algunas sustancias que lo contienen y que habitualmente pueden estar en una casa como, los enjuagues bucales, los líquidos para las lentillas o las soluciones para limpiar dentaduras postizas. 7. Anticongelantes

A los perros y los gatos les atrae enormemente los anticongelantes por su agradable olor. Sin embargo, su ingestión es una de las mayores causas de envenenamientos de mascotas cada año. El componente venenoso es el etileno glicol, que afecta a la función renal. 8. Blanqueadores de ropa

Una vez más, producto de limpieza es sinónimo de peligro extremo para nuestro perro. En este caso, los blanqueadores de ropa como la lavandina y los compuestos que tienen cloro resultan muy tóxicos y producen vómitos, babeo y dolor abdominal. 9. Semillas de frutas.

Aunque los perros y los gatos son carnívoros a veces se dan para comer algunas semillas de frutas, además de poder provocarles un ahogamiento (por su tamaño), también pueden ser venenosas, entre ellas, el melocotón, albaricoque y el aguacate para nombrar algunos. No dejes que tu mascota se tome un hueso o semilla de fruta. 10. Plantas ornamentales

Por último, aunque alguna vez habrás visto comer a un perro o a un gato alguna planta -que puede ayudar a mejorar su digestiónpor lo general, no es bueno que estos animales coman plantas. Especialmente perjudiciales son algunas de adorno que suelen estar en jardines como tomate, espinaca, azalea, azafrán de otoño, aguacate (hojas), adelfa, actea, dulcamara, belladona, dedalera, cicuta, cicuta acuática, tejo, ricino, lirios y lirio de los valles.

9 Fruit seeds

Although dogs and cats are carnivores, sometimes they are given to eat some fruit seeds, in addition to causing them to choke (by size) they also may be poisonous, for example peach, apricot and avocado to name a few. Do not allow your pets to eat or play with the stones or seeds from such fruits or vegetables.

10 Ornamental plants

Finally, if you’ve ever seen a dog or a cat eating a plant-which is believed to aid or to improve their digestion, usually it is not a good idea that these animals eat plants. Especially harmful are some vegetables or ornamental plants that are often found in some gardens such as Tomatoes, Spinach, Azalea, Autumn Crocus, Avocado (leaves), Oleander, Baneberry, Deadly Nightshade, Belladonna, Foxglove, Hemlock, Water Hemlock, Yew, Castor plants, any variety of Lily and Lily of the Valley.

6 Boric acid

Boric acid poisoning can occur in an animal, causing vomiting, drooling, seizures and coma. So it is essential to put out of reach some substances containing it and usually can be in a house like, mouthwash, liquid for contact lenses or solutions for cleaning dentures.
