IVCF Graduate and Faculty Ministry
O
ne of the goals of IVCF Ministry in the CEV Region over the next five years is to start, develop and expand the IVCF Graduate and Faculty Ministry (IVCF GFM). We feel that after 63 years of doing ministry in the Philippines IVCF should engage the whole university for Christ. Meaning, IVCF should engage not only the undergraduates, but also the faculty & staff, the graduate students who are taking masters degree or doctoral degree in our different colleges and universities. We are hoping that by June 2017 we can launch the IVCF Graduate & Faculty Ministry in the CEV Region. This year is a time of research & preparation in the following areas: 1) Identifying the different Christian Faculty who are teaching , doing research & extension work in the community and other sectors in our society; 2) Identifying some Christian students who are taking masters degree or doctoral degree ; 3) Gathering Materials and other resources; 4) Curriculum Design and Development ; 5) Recruiting & Training Core Group Leaders and 6) Networking with IVCF USA & other IFES Members who are more advance in doing ministry among the Graduates and Faculty in their respective countries. Below are the Mission and Vision Statement which we adopted from IVCF USA: The Mission Statement To encourage & equip Christian scholars to flourish and be a redeeming influence among the people, ideas and structures of higher education The Vision Statement -To establish witnessing communities of Christian academics that reflects the diversity of Christ -To follow God’s call in spiritual formation and vocational discipleship -To live faithfully in all areas of their lives and thereby flourish in their callings as teachers, scholars colleagues and mentors for the renewal of the campus and the glory of God -To practice their disciplines from profoundly Christian viewpoint.
EAST ASIA GRADUATES CONFERENCE (EAGC) TESTIMONIES I have had many learning experiences when I attended EAGC last August in Thailand. But among the sessions that I attended in, the Workshops and the Movement Sharing have had the greatest impact in me. One of the workshops has reminded me of the importance of regularly doing the basic spiritual disciplines as this will help in knowing God’s will my life especially when on the crossroads in making career decisions. The other workshop has broaden my perspective on being a global Christian. This workshop has made me realize how globalization has impacted different aspects of our lives, its pros and cons, and the challenges that it posts for Christians today. Those two workshops have really inspired me just like the GCF’s stories that were shared during the Movement Sharing. (GCF stands for Graduates Christian Fellowship. In the Philippines we call it Inter Varsity Graduates or IVG.) During the Movement Sharing, GCF’s from some Asian countries presented their activities, shared how they deepen their faith in their fellowship, and shared how they make an impact in their respective work places. Their stories have inspired me so much that I pray that one day, IV graduates in Cebu will also have the same strong graduate’s fellowship that will make an impact in our city and in our respected work places.
