Striving for More

The nationwide real estate boom continues and the housing market in the Golden Isles remains strong. Housing inventory, especially in luxury markets, has been limited and Coastal Georgia has realized significant price increases due to the availability of properties. Now, more than ever, it is incredibly important to make sure you are working with a qualified agent that can effectively represent you in a real estate transaction.

The team of Luxury Collection Specialists at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hodnett Cooper Real Estate has been pleased to represent over 349 transaction sides through August of this year – totaling over $163 million in total sales volume. They specialize in representing luxury and unique properties including private homes, waterfront estates, equestrian properties, and residences with historical significance or unique architectural details. Meet a few members of their team:

Melinda Laager

Following a lengthy and successful career in marketing, Melinda joined the real estate world. She attributes her success in real estate to both her professional experience and a familiarity with the area that comes from growing up in the Golden Isles. Melinda believes that “luxury is in the details” and strives to make certain that her clients are well informed every step of the way. A local volunteer, mentor, and golf enthusiast, Melinda also dabbles in home renovation projects and interior decorating when she can find the time. Her steadfast approach to helping her clients accomplish their real estate goals is successful and has earned her numerous production awards. Her total sales volume is over $11 million through August of 2021.

Len Hoshall

An Atlanta native, University of South Carolina alumnus, lucky husband, and proud father, Len Hoshall came to the Golden Isles in 1989 and never looked back. He and his wife Susan thrive on salt air, sand, and the small town charm of St. Simons Island. Len is the guy to always lend a helping hand, be that to a friend, a client, or to a fellow realtor. His care, concern, and diligence in representing his clients’ best interests does not go unnoticed and his clients truly appreciate the hard work that Len puts into each and every transaction. His total sales volume through August of 2021 is nearly $8 million.

Ann Dempsey

A seasoned industry veteran and real estate professional in the Golden Isles for over 40 years, Ann Dempsey goes above and beyond for each client. She’s passionate about real estate and about music; many people know Ann as pianist at First Baptist Church in Brunswick. Ann compares her two passions: “when I’m playing a song, I do not want to play half of the notes right. I want to play every single note right. Every single detail is important. It’s like that in real estate too. I’m not going to be satisfied unless every single detail is taken care of.” Her dedication to her clients

shows; Ann’s total sales volume for 2021 is over $7.6 million through August.

Crystal Akers

Since beginning her real estate career in 2002, Crystal Akers has grown her business across South Georgia, and has specialized in the purchase and sale of properties in the Golden Isles region for over a decade. Working in multiple marketing mediums to highlight her offerings, Crystal pulls together an interesting mix of promotions to maximize exposure for each property. She was recognized as a member of the 2020 President’s Circle with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (top 6% of the network) and consistently ranks in the top performing agents for the company. Her sales volume through August of this year is nearly $7 million.

Kelly Ross

Once a Congressional Aide on Capitol Hill and throughout her home district in Georgia, Kelly worked in the realm of politics for seven years before launching her real estate career. Her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and political background are evidence of her inquisitiveness, social nature, and thirst for knowledge. Those skills translate to real estate in Kelly’s passion for meeting new people and uncovering their needs, ultimately finding a client an ideal property or securing a successful sale each and every time. A Golden Isles native and active member of the community, Kelly is always on the go for her clients, her volunteer work, or her family. Her total sales volume through August of this year is over $6 million.

Cindy Jacobs

A Golden Isles native and former college professor, Cindy Jacobs helps her clients understand ALL aspects of the buying and selling process. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail, and ability to help her clients with vision for a property. Cindy believes that often “…it’s the ability to see what’s not there…to help your client see what could be there.” A UGA Master Gardener, Cindy has quite the green thumb and maintains an impressive 5,000 sq ft home garden. As a Realtor, Cindy has been recognized for her construction and remodel experience and was recently a recipient of the Elite Circle Listing Performance Award for the 2nd quarter of 2021. Cindy has earned top dollar for listings, garnering her clients over 100% of original list price with an average of 35 days on the market. She is currently showcasing a brilliantly remodeled luxury home in The Island Club.

Evelyn Murphy

Superior service with an eye for interior design. Evelyn Murphy has been an icon in the island real estate world since the early 80s. She is wellrespected in the community as an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society and former board member with various organizations including the YWCA, Sea Palms, and St. Simons Cotillion. As a Realtor, she most enjoys meeting new people and has formed long-lasting friendships that began as client/ realtor relationships. Looking for an investment property? Evelyn has found many clients’ ideal beach getaways and is very familiar with the condominiums on the island. Her total sales volume through August of 2021 is nearly $4 million.

“I think that part of what makes this team so successful for our clients is that when you get down to it, we just love what we do,” shares Pat Cooper, owner and broker. “Buying and selling luxury real estate is an emotional process and we guide our clients every step of the way. We consistently rank in the top 10% of the market because we know what we’re doing … and we love it.”
