JIM - Indore Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM) group has established its fourth campus in the city of Indore to bring in a contemporary perspective in business and management education. A review of global management education indicates a growing & compelling need for managers capable of using digital technology across different sectors of industry as digitisation of business and management practices is the only way to gain competitive advantages in a knowledge driven economy.

Most B- Schools are imparting digital education under the IT and systems courses at the technical level but without the management perspective. Therefore, there is a dire need for a curriculum that integrates digital practices, dynamics in virtual space, issues, and digital based business models into foundation and perspective building courses in management education. JIM-I develops a unique curriculum considering the current context of business and industry as per the following perspectives:

CAMPUS FACILITY JIM campuses are spread in Northern and Central part of India and are well equipped with the most technologically advanced and contemporary amenities. All the campuses have been aesthetically designed & elegantly furnished with state of the art equipment and facilities. The campus has an ambience that motivates students to grow as an enlightened human. The air conditioned academic complex consists of faculty offices, well equipped amphi- theatre, classic lecture halls, an auditorium, two floored library and three computer labs.

JIM has an aesthetically built and fully furnished modern hostel facility for girls and boys within the campus.. The hostels are well furnished and supported by 24 x 7 internet facility, power backup and security besides a common room, a well equipped gym and indoor sports facilities. It has a modern cafeteria with great décor and mouth watering delicacies comprising chinese & continental, south & north Indian dishes to cater to students’ taste.

Besides the Medical Facility, the first aid facilities are also available on campus along with an arrangement for a Doctor on call.

Academic and Institutional Resources of JIM JIM has large infrastructure facilities well equipped with modern amenities and sport facilities for its students. » Campuses built on over 28 Acre of land and with over 180,000 sq. ft. of built campus facility. » Academic blocks are fully airconditioned with wi-fi internet and multimedia facilities to accommodate over 2000 students and faculty members » Hostel facilities can accommodate over 750 boys and girls with modern cafeterias, recreation and sports facilities. » Library stocks a core collection of over 25000 books. These include CD ROMs, Audio-Visuals, Peer Reviewed Journals, Project and Industry Reports. » E- Library EBSCO providing 24 hours access to over 7600 periodicals, 1100 peer reviewed journals, and over 40000 text books.

Library - the heart of the institute is fully automated, air-conditioned and spread over two floors. It has been categorically designed to meet the information needs of students, research fellows, and faculty and stacked with books on a wide range of management subjects. It has a beautiful reading hall, an information retrieval centre for accessing the web and an exclusive research centre for the research oriented students. Information in both paper and electronic forms is available with ease. Subsidized reprographics facility for students enables them to make the best use of the library resources.

INFRASTRUCTURE JIM- Indore campus is an architectural beauty in itself and situated in the picturesque and natural surroundings in Dakachiya, Indore. The campus is spread over an area of close to 10 acres surrounded by open spaces far from any pollution and noise in an environment ideal for academic excellence. It is located on the Agra-Mumbai Road approximately 16 KM North of Indore towards Dewas.

The campus has been aesthetically designed and elegantly built with stateof-the-art equipment and facilities. The ambience of the campus inspires and facilitates social and academic interactions among the students and with faculty members. The campus plans to have two academic blocks with a covered area of 60000 sq.ft. each, a separate hostel complex having an accommodation for up to 1000 students, a separate auditorium building and large landscaped open areas.

Academic Block The present academic block has a built up area of 60000 sq ft on two floors.

The amenities being provided are 5 stepped up auditorium style lecture halls completely air-conditioned with state of the art features such as interactive white boards, wi-fi access provision and laptop recharging points for each student, an air-conditioned computer lab with 60 desktop computers with hi speed internet access to each computer and all printing and documentation facilities, additionally another computer lab on the first floor is being given for future use. Further a library that houses not only 2000 books but also has a research data lab and all the latest publications and journals is completely air-conditioned with a seating capacity for upto 160 students. Also a conference hall with seating for 240 people is provided on the ground floor. Nine tutorial rooms with flexible seating are present on the first floor. The entire building has an open plan with a central courtyard and wide circulation passages to give an open and airy feel.

Further, the campus integrates the outside with the inside having large glass facades and windows to bring the outside in and also to take advantage of natural lighting and ventilation making our building environment friendly and reducing carbon footprint. The campus has also incorporated all aspects of Vastu - our ancient architectural system in the design to give its users a holistic experience.

Residential facility for students The current hostel building in the first phase has a fully furnished residential facility for over 150 students with common rooms, gym and warden residence. It has separate hostels for boys and girls with excellent amenities, mess and recreation facilities along with round the clock security.

The open spaces have been developed not only as areas for interaction and discussion but also for extra-curricular activities such as sports and dramatics, with provision for volleyball, and basketball court and an open air amphitheatre.

The campus provides a serene environment to relax and unwind. Spacious and airy halls, lawns and greenery provide students with adequate comfort to relax and interact.

LEARNING RESOURCES JIM Indore’s academic and infrastructural resources have been designed to refresh and stimulate students learning at the same time. The focus is on thoughtful placement of learning amenities around the purpose of PGDM curriculum and learning needs of students.

Class Rooms and Seminar Hall All the class rooms, tutorial rooms, and seminar hall are air-conditioned and fully equipped with interactive multi-media and audio-visual aids. This would facilitate effective interaction among students as well as with teachers. Class rooms are equipped with interactive boards, wi-fi, and e library resources such as videos & audios for interactive teaching.

Computing Facility Students are provided with laptops for use in the class rooms with wi-fi internet and blue-tooth facility. All the laptops are connected through the wireless local area network on campus with printing facility. This facility also connects the faculty and staff members for information sharing and communication. Each student is provided with institutional email id through which entire communication is executed. In addition, Student will have access to the computer lab for learning skills on application of various IT softwares and digital application as a part of various courses.

Team Assignment and Project work A large hall is available to facilitate student work in groups for completing their team assignments as well as plan student committee meetings and different cultural and sports activities.

Library Resources Library offers a conducive environment for reading and referencing books and periodicals. Library has been designed to serve as a creative and innovative player in supporting the teaching, learning, scholarship and research activities of the Institute. The library building spread over two floors has an idyllic setting. Naturally lit and facing a large lush green lawn make reading a pleasant temptation. Students can access library on a 24/7 basis and are allowed to take books for study in their hostel.

70% of our population resides in rural areas. At JIM Indore, we connect students through mentoring programs, networking events and social platform and have an eclectic mix of academics and real life problems. Students at JIM – Indore are required to work with social organisations on certain rural, semi-urban and unorganized sectors of India. Such projects aim to create an urge towards working for the cause of society. At the same time, students are encouraged to create innovative ideas and explore their knowledge, skills and abilities that are transferable from one role to another. It extends a diversion from academics and refines students’ leadership and organizational management experience into spearheading social causes. The WIP may be formulated in the following areas(illustrative):

The summer internship (SI) has been designed to help students offer several new value-added deliverables to the industry and enhance significant learning opportunities for them. SI combines two major components, viz. industry immersion and long term learning association with an organisation. The institute has a unique summer internship programme. Under this programme, institute help the students in finding the most suitable assignment which matches the student profile and career interest. JIM-I supports the students to get placed for summer internship in reputed organization where they can implement the management theories in practice.

SI is of two months duration in which students are expected to take learning project pertaining (illustrative) to any one or more the following: 1. Product Launch 2. A satisfactory completion report is sought from the interning company.

Each interning company gets a chance to evaluate the interns over a long period in a real business situation and make Pre-Placement Offers (PPO) based on this evaluation. Students are also required to share their learning with the institute before they register for the second year. The requirement of making a formal presentation about the project to the company and to the institute ensures that sufficient rigour and discipline are brought into this exercise. During the internship, students are also assigned academic mentor while industry assigns a mentor from the company. Mentors are chosen from diverse backgrounds as eminent entrepreneurs, policy makers, researchers and consultants. The rich diversity of their backgrounds instils in the students a continuous desire to achieve excellence. This is to ensure the internship experience is fulfilling and mutually benefiting.

Community Based Services – On some of our MBA projects students will work with community groups and companies to help tackle social problems. Mentorship toYoung Enterprises JIM – Indore students are required to take up a project at the time of their inception of MBA course. This project extends over the time period of two years of PGDM programme. Indore, being a hub of young enterprises in varied sector of businesses, JIM- Indore is tying up linkages with small and medium enterprises in the adjoining areas.

Students are facilitated to work with SMEs as when needed as mentor. The groups are formed in a such manner that students get to work with people from different educational, regional and cultural backgrounds. Students are encouraged to undertake related research for these organizations by framing market and other operational strategies for them. The students will also give advice to small and medium enterprises on carbon credits, biodegradable materials and help them operate in the best possible eco-friendly manner. Similarly, students from technical background are required to come up with projects related to technical up gradation and introduce the respective organizationto integrated software.

Students may also choose to audit not more than two courses to enhance their learning further by way out of career course and general electives. This is in addition to the credit requirement in the second year of PGDM. Tutorials and Remedial As students come from diverse backgrounds, they may need an additional learning support in order to keep pace with learning in specific courses. Students may request the concerned faculty members or PGP Chair to arrange remedial classes on the basic theories and concepts.

Pedagogy The overall structure of the pedagogy involves the following learning process: l Classroom learning: Lecture/ Discussions l Small Group Work l Simulations and Role Plays l Project and Field Work l Self-reflection and Self-learning l Tutorial/ Remedial l Internships/ Live projects Students are expected to devote for each classroom sessions at least three hours of work outside the classroom. a. JIM - I follows the concept of credit for each course completed by the students. These credits are defined in terms of students’ workload as well as graduation requirements. b. A 24 session course of classroom learning combined with 72 hours of outside classroom work (fieldwork, self-learning, classroom preparation, project and examination) is considered equivalent to two credit course. A course with 12 sessions is considered equivalent to one credit and 24 sessions equivalent to two credits. c. Credit Requirement for qualifying the PGDM at JIM - I 1. All students will have to complete all core courses offered during the first year and second year.

These would be approximately equivalent to 50 credits. Most of the core courses are offered in the first year.

2. Students are also required to earn 12 credits out of General and Leadership electives offered.

3. For career and concentration courses, students will have to earn the credit equivalent to 24 credits.

4. In the second year, students will have to complete the course to earn a total of approx. 21 credits.

Career/Concentration

Workshops in addition to the core, concentration or elective courses are largely offered by faculty members and guest experts to groom students further based on their learning from the field. Such workshops, offered from time to time, can be attended purely based on students’ interest in the area and are non-credit components of the curriculum. SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR STUDENTS LEARNING

Centre of Digi-tech-Innovation As the curriculum is designed to bring in digital resources for superior management practices, this cell seeds application of various digital based resources and opportunities in the development of effective management of organisations towards growth. This cell in partnership with faculty, industry and students would create new ideas and document digital based business and management practices. This would instil a spirit of innovation in the minds of prospective and young managers to cope up with demand of the industry for latest and new digital and communications based technology.

The cell would conduct continuous seminars, workshops, and guest lectures on data mining and data warehousing, SAS, SPSS, latest trends in ERP, usage of IT in retail.

JIM-Consulting Cell This is the student consultancy arm, through which students apply academic learning to live projects for social and business development. Students under guidance of faculty members would seek consulting projects with industry related market research, development of digital application for business solutions, product development, develop performance measurement tools, training needs assessment, project reports, industry analysis, and so on. Students would also assist small and medium enterprises in understanding various issues through research, help framing strategies, and improve their sustainability through digitization of their management practices.

This cell would also equip students to prepare consulting proposals and pitch for assignments with industry and will be guided to do research and write consulting reports and make presentations to clients through direct faculty mentorship and short duration workshops.

Centre for Global Immersion Programme

This Centre would help students enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities through offering a set of courses, workshop on ideation and creative thinking.

Students would be prepared to assume a role of corporate entrepreneur as well as initiate their innovative ventures.

Students would be provided exposure and experience in the entire entrepreneurial cycle from creating a new business idea or value, converting this into feasible marketable opportunities, setting up required infrastructure and resources, managing a team of people during the start-up phase, and make arrangement for its sustainability while at campus.

This Centre has been created to provide global perspective to the contemporary management education. The centre would help students to gain insight advancement in management, research, and understanding of culture in global organisations.

JIM Placement Resources and Industry Interface JIM-I has set up Corporate Interface Cell (CIC) along with the placement committee, comprising of faculty members and a student team that works towards strengthening placements. The Institute provides complete support to a wide range of career opportunities in diverse industry sectors and social organisations. The corporate interface cell exists for the exclusive purpose of building and keeping effective contacts with firms all over India.

The CIC ensures continuous interactions with senior management from industry on the platform involving a)Collaborative Teaching in career related courses, b) CSR collaborations, c)continuous interaction with Alumni Network, d) MDPs, e) Industrial Visits, f) Consultancy and Live Projects for students, g)Guest Lectures, Seminars and JIM Leadership Lecture Series and so on. In all these activities, JIM tries to involve dream organisations of students.

Such interaction with industry professionals makes it possible for the industry to know about the nature of learning being imparted as well as assess students’ calibre.

We believe that it is not important to take up any placement but it should be the one which is consistent with students' interests and aspirations. This would add value to student and the organisation. This is a hallmark of responsible business leaders and this is what we want our students to be. JIM has over 200 recruiters visiting JIM campuses for placement purpose.

Pre-placement Preparation A series of workshops are conducted to provide requisite orientation about industry’s current requirements and students are trained to develop certain critical set of soft skills through Problem Solving and Aptitude Building Labs, Simulation Exercises and leadership Training, and Mock Interviews and Group Discussion Labs.

PLACEMENTS @ JIM Lateral Placements Students who are with work experience over 20-24 months get qualified to pitch for lateral placement. In such arrangement, students start their career at higher level positions and pay packages than entry level jobs. The placement Cell makes pitches separately for such students during the placement process.

Final Placements Final placement commences in January – February to ensure students are placed before their graduation day.

The placement committee prepares brochures for final placement and contacts dream companies for preplacement talks to the students. The committee invites companies to send in the detailed job profiles along with offer of pay packages as per the policy of the companies.

The placement committee circulates such job profiles among the students who have shown interest in such job profile as well as industry sector. Students then apply in response and appear for GD and interviews at the predetermined dates and time.

Summer Placements Entrepreneurial Careers Summer placement preparatory work begins after the second term. Placement committee prepares summer internship brochures with profile of students and curriculum details for wide circulation. Students’ interest for nature of projects as well as nature of industry is sought.

Institute database of visiting corporate are approached through mailers as well as student representatives visit the new set of companies for pitching for summer internship.

Students are assigned academic mentor as well as industry mentor from the interning company. This helps students acquiring Pre-placement offers for final appointments.

JIM-I grooms students to create innovative ideas for setting up their own ventures upon graduation. Such initiatives are encouraged at an early stage during the course of study and are incubated to help students develop business models and convert them into entrepreneurial realities. Students desirous of choosing such careers are allowed to withdraw from placement. In case students change their mind and plan to switch over to job career after a year or two, they can appear for the final placement in the subsequent years up to a maximum of two years.

They are the true reflectors of the high standard of JIM curriculum and learning environment. Frequent visit to campus help share divergent perspective among the students. Alumni also help students prepare for meeting challenges in corporate world and select right kind of career courses. ACADEMIC HONOURS, RECOGNITION & AWARDS JIM –I plans to encourage students towards academic excellence and for building a bright career through continuously rewarding and recognition systems. Right from admission, meritorious students (top 50 students) are offered a fee waiver of Rs. 50,000 through corporate sponsorship and further scholarship is offered at the end of each term for their academic performance and other achievements. Admission Process The PGDM at JIM – I offers to follow a rigorous and well designed selection process to ensure selection of the very best. PGDM 2010-12 admissions is open for 120 seats and is approved by AICTE. Hostel fee does not include meal charges. It is expected to be about Rs. 1600 - 1800 per month for all the three meals.

Fee includes total academic fee including academic material and books and laptop. The students who bring laptop with them will get a deduction of Rs. 20000 in the fee during the payment of second instalment.

In addition to above, students are required to make Rs. 10000 toward security deposit which is refundable.

Foreign students or corporate sponsored student will have to deposit USD 15000 or equivalent in Indian currency as per the prevalent rate of USD per year.
