‘A trip to the museum’ identifies a field of contradicting forces were objects, visitors and the museum have an intimate and fragmented liaison. Two main voices emerge in the book.
On the one hand there is the voice of an infantilized visitor, seeking attention, protection and confidence; on the other hand the imperative voice of the museum that imposes questions and tasks. From time to time the visitor’s voice can be juxtaposed to the specimens’, and the visitor himself/herself becomes an object.
