NIC ROLDAN

THE FACE OF AMERICAN POLO

N

ic Roldan is arguably the United States best polo player, the face of American Polo. He is the present leading American polo player with an impressive eight goal handicap and is currently Captain of the U.S. Polo Team. Recently, he has achieved notable career milestones. Playing in two of the world’s most prestigious events, Roldan competed in the Argentine Open and won the Queen’s Cup in England- both impressive accomplishments. The Queen’s Cup is played in the presence of Her Majesty, who personally presents the winning trophy. When he is not saddled up on the polo field or working as a model for Wilhelmina, he is expanding “[his] entrepreneurial endeavors and becoming more involved in the business elements of [his] projects.” Richard Gerding: Beyond your career in polo and modeling, what is your latest project and how did you get involved? Nic Roldan: I have been wanting to get involved with spirits for some time now. I’m friends with the founder of one of the leading, innovative spirit brands, Matti Antilla of Grain & Barrel. Along with our other partner Diego Urutia, we came up with the idea of doing a Gin. We wanted to come up with a catchy, aspirational, polo aspect to our brand and we all share a passion for the sport of polo. It is called High Goal Luxury Gin, and it is a one hundred percent American made premium Gin with hints of mint and citrus. I am a cofounder, along with Matti and Diego,

ambassador, and the face of our brand. I feel like Gin has a huge opportunity now. It is very popular in Europe, and the vodka and tequila markets have been too saturated in my opinion. We will be launching in December and are looking at a price point of around $50. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time now and am so excited to finally see it come to life. RG: I hear you have also been working in collaborationwith Revo sunglasses. What can we look forward to in that respect? NR: Yes, I am very excited to be working on a couple of projects with them. For one, we are coming out with a pair of lifestyle sunglasses based on their Quinn model, but what I’m most excited about is a pair of protective glasses specifically for playing polo. There are many ways to get injured playing polo, but if you lose your eyes that’s it. Your career is over. So it is very important to protect your eyes. Up until now, we as polo players have been using all sorts of sunglasses designed for other sports but none of them were designed with polo in mind. This will be a high-performance design specifically for polo players. I am friends with the new owner of Revo, and he has been wanting to get into the polo market, so the partnership has been a perfect fit. RG: Another endeavor you’ve been working on is interior design. What has it been like working with your Mother on some of these projects? NR: I just finished my first Spec Home with a partner and good friend of mine, Michelle Kamine, who has built numerous houses inside the

prominent Palm Beach Polo and Country Club here in Wellington, Florida. It’s a modern farmhouse design with views, incredible views, overlooking one of the prettiest holes on the Cypress course. My Mother and I have been working on other projects together. We work great together. Her ideas and mine go hand in hand. Our styles are really different, but they really compliment each other. I love being involved in the building and design process. Real estate is something that has been a passion of mine for a long time now and something that I want to get more involved in. RG: Apparel is another business you’ve been getting involved in. Can you let us know what you’re working on? NR: I am involved with an apparel company called Polo Gear. It is a line for polo players, and we are making apparel and gear. Fashion has always been a passion of mine so it was something I’ve always wanted to do. RG: Let’s talk a little polo. You are working on a World Polo League with the Ganzis. How is that going? NR: Yes, our first year was a great year for the World Polo League and the second year was becoming even better! We had ten teams, all extremely competitive. We had some of the best players in the world and it has really taken a big step forward. We have some amazing corporate sponsors this year, such as Seminole Casino who I played for with Mellisa Ganzi. Unfortunately our season got cut short due to the pandemic, so we will be here until we leave for the summer in Aspen. Hopefully we will be able to play by then, but we are just taking it day by day as of now.

ANDIE OHDE

LIVING YOUR BEST LIFESTYLE

LIVING YOUR BEST LIFESTYLE Connecting lifestyle with community is what Andie loves to do. Living in the Vail Valley is as close to heaven as you can get. All four seasons are uniquely beautiful with each providing abundant outdoor activities. The community is rich with culture, connectivity and the people are genuine. The proximity to Denver International Airport and the regional Vail Valley Jet Center makes it an effortless destination for vacationers, primary, or secondary homeowners. “When my clients are looking to purchase a home here, these are the reasons typically which are at the top of the list.” states Andie. Over the last several years, and more recently, the traditional professional landscape has begun shifting to include more remote working opportunities. “Lifestyle, with proximity to travel and in-office working capability will become more of a requirement for people when reevaluating their ideal locations to live” Andie exclaims. Tucked beneath majestic mountain ranges and surrounded by White River National Forest sits the Vail Valley – a picturesque jewel found along the Rocky Mountains. While most famously known for the world-renowned ski resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek, the Vail Valley gives so much more. Each season is an experience unto its own, from the lush green terrain from the Spring runoff to the golden mountains of fall or the picturesque blue bird winter days. The community is a harmonious blend of culture, arts and small-

town charm which makes it an ideal place to call home whether year-round, seasonally or as a vacation home. Accurately coined “the playground of the Rockies”, the amount of outdoor recreation available in the Vail Valley is astounding and is just one reason why it is such a popular resort destination. An estimated 1.3 million visitors travel to the Vail area each year with about half coming for the winter season and the other half return to relish in our beautiful summers1. Ask almost any long-time local and they will tell you, “I came for the winter, but stayed for the summers.” You don’t need to spend much time here before you realize why so many families decide to call this their primary or second home. In the town of Vail alone, about 70% of the properties are purchased as second-homes1. PRIVATE CLUBS THAT ENHANCE THE VAIL LIFESTYLE With an abundance of active lifestyles in the Vail Valley, comes an array of choices for private mountain clubs. Many of the private clubs offer more than just golfing, skiing or social memberships with year-round activities that provide options for both the primary and secondary homeowners. Whether choosing public, semi-private, or private options, there are 14 golf courses within the 40 miles between East Vail and Gypsum to experience. The course Andie calls home is Frost Creek Mountain Club, which is located in the idyllic Brush Creek Valley only 20 minutes from the

Eagle County Jet Center. This membership is quite diverse including locals and members who live outside the Vail Valley. At Frost Creek, members are not required to own property in Eagle County, so they can fly in directly to the regional airport and utilize the fully equipped, luxury cabins (ranging from 1 to 4-bedrooms) or “glamp in the two extravagant yurts during their stay. Another great option is the Sonnenalp Club located in the Singletree neighborhood of Edwards, Colorado. This lifestyle club is a favorite among locals whether they live in the neighborhood or anywhere in the Vail Valley. This club is centrally located with a popular restaurant, amazing views of Arrowhead Ski Mountain and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Do you want to golf on top of the world? Cordillera in Edwards is the place for you! For members wanting three 18-hole golf courses in addition to a short par 3, 10-hole golf course, the sky is the limit at this club. Additionally, their vibrant social membership is a mix of both locals and second homeowners who live in one of the four Cordillera communities or nearby neighborhoods. They have full golf memberships, young professional, social, and corporate memberships to choose from.

Under the Vail Resorts flag, there are eight clubs throughout the Vail Valley that offer an array of choices to suit your needs. These include a collection of private ski and golf clubs which have their own incomparable style and provide a place for friends and family to gather. Each of the clubs are purposefully and exclusively different, offering memberships depending upon the needs of the member. These clubs include: The Arrabelle Club, Arrowhead Alpine Club, Bachelor Gulch Club, Beaver Creek Club, Game Creek Club, Passport Club, Red Sky Golf Club and Vail Mountain Club. All these clubs and activities provide a wide array of options for those looking to further explore the lifestyles of living in the Vail Valley. When the time is right for you to discover which lifestyle is the best fit, Andie is happy to give you an exclusive tour. Visit VailAreaRealEstate.com or contact Andie directly at 970.471.5233.

FROST CREEK

FIVE YEARS AS PORTAL TO THE COLORADO LIFESTYLE

Celebrating its five-year anniversary in summer of 2020, Frost Creek, a private luxury golf and mountain club located just outside Eagle, Colo., has become a “second home” for many of its National Members, both figuratively and literally. “From day one, we focused our attention on what made Frost Creek different from other clubs. We have a world class Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, but great golf is implied,” said Mike Gibbs, president and general manager of Frost Creek. “We wondered, what would keep entire families engaged and using the club?” To complement the Weiskopf-designed golf course, 40,000 square foot clubhouse, pool, tennis and sport courts, Frost Creek began adding amenities endemic to living and recreating in the Rocky Mountains. With more than 10 ponds on site, the club bought several stand up paddleboards (SUP) and designated a specific pond on site for their use. The “swimming pond” was then outfitted with a deck, gazebo and floating swimming platform. Adding a “beach”was the final touch. The pond has become a hub for water sports and soaking up the Colorado sunshine. Stand Up Paddleboard yoga classes are a regular part of summer programming and have become extremely popular with members. Frost Creek also has exceptional fishing for all skill levels and disciplines and fishing rods and tackle are available for use. Five stocked fishing ponds (three of which are

fly fishing only) provide a fun and un-intimidating way for children and rookies to learn the craft and for experienced anglers to hone their skills. Fly fishers can explore Frost Creek’s private 2.5 miles of Brush Creek, a classic Eagle County fishery with ample wild trout. To date, the club record trout is 27 inches and was caught in the summer of 2016. Next was the addition of a fleet of bicycles, a disc golf course, an archery range, four miles of new soft surface mountain biking, trail running and hiking trails and the two yurts for glamour camping, or “glamping.” If that’s not enough to keep members busy, bocce ball, croquet, slacklining and electric fat bikes are also available. In addition, the “Pool House” doubles as a kids’ activities room with foosball, ping pong, shuffleboard and a variety of board games for indoor fun. The club even purchased a fully outfitted Jeep adorned with the Frost Creek logo to be used by members for 4x4 adventures to any of the surrounding high alpine attractions. A popular day trip among members is to take the Jeep to SUP or fish at Sylvan Lake State Park, located just four miles up Brush Creek Road from the club. For many members, Frost Creek’s centralized location has made it a “base camp” for exploring Colorado. Winter finds the golf course converted to 10km of groomed track for Nordic skiing, snow biking and snowshoeing. Frost Creek’s tennis courts are flooded for ice skating and pick-up games of hockey. The warming fire is home to s’mores and great conversations and Frost Creek’s own sledding hill is rumored to be, “really, really fast.” What’s more, the club offers a variety of available “for sale” real estate offerings complemented by onsite lodging accommodations via member cabins and yurts. The combination makes Frost Creek accessible and beloved by out of town members. For National Members who do not own real estate at Frost Creek or their guests, the ability to “stay and play” is made easy with Frost Creek’s 10 member cabins and two luxury yurts. Onsite cabins and yurts are available for rent year-round on a first come, first served basis and are large enough to accommodate large or extended families as needed. The club also offers a variety of available one to six-acre homesites for purchase priced from $250,000 to $700,000. To date, more than 14 custom homes have been built at Frost Creek with 16 or more expected to break ground this year. Announced in early 2020, the club will offer onsite new construction homes for sale in its thoughtfully designed Hunter’s View neighborhood

Hunter’s View offers three extraordinary floor plans ranging in size from the 2,300-square foot 3 bedroom/2.5 bath “Scout” to the 2,875-square foot 4 bedroom/3.5 bath “Roosevelt” and are available starting at $1,011,000. The first Hunter’s View homes will be delivered during the 2021 golf season. Each home is situated on a generous homesite and comes complete with membership to Frost Creek and all associated amenities. Jeff Adams, a Denver-area resident, joined Frost Creek in the summer of 2017. Adams grew up camping and fishing at nearby Sylvan Lake. He knew the Brush Creek Valley where Frost Creek is located and had many fond memories. “I’ve always loved the area and paid attention as the golf course and infrastructure were built. However, I really started paying attention when the club was launched as Frost Creek. I liked the vision and friends raved about the course,” Adams said. “When we first came up to check it out, I knew I wanted to join the minute we came through the gate. “

For more information about Frost Creek visit www.frostcreek.com or contact Director of Sales Kakie Holland at 970-445-3072 or kholland@frostcreek.com.Â

The Adams family joined Frost Creek and utilizes the member cabins and yurts regularly. They even visit Frost Creek in the winter and use it as a base camp to ski nearby Beaver Creek. “My sons love ‘camping’ in the yurts, fishing in the stocked ponds, riding bikes, playing golf and hockey and sledding in the winter. They are teens, so at a time when they are busy with sports and friends at home, it’s nice to get away to the mountains and spend time at Frost Creek. We are creating new memories in an area I loved as a kid. Frost Creek has become our second home,” Adams said. Brent and Julie Russell of the Dallas area found Frost Creek in a different way. The Russells, longtime visitors to the Vail Valley, were contemplating a second home in the mountains. “We began actively looking in Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and the Edwards area,” Brent Russell said. “Then we learned about a home being built at Frost Creek and put it on the list without knowing anything about the club. Once we saw the home and learned what Frost Creek was, it was a done deal. We purchased the home and joined shortly after seeing it.” The Russells, who also have two teenagers, come to Frost Creek often and plan to spend more time at the club in coming years. “We’ve been here a lot since we joined. Every time we leave, we can’t wait to get back. My son loves fishing, riding the electric fat bikes and all the activities available here. All of the amenities make it feel like a luxury summer camp,” Russell said. “The golf course is spectacular and membership is a tremendous value, but more valuable than that are the friendships we’ve created and the great fit Frost Creek has been for my family.” Gibbs said members love the diversity of amenities that Frost Creek offers and that they can dabble in a different activity every time they are at the club. Diverse lodging and real estate ownership opportunities provide several ways for National members to utilize the club, further adding to its desirability. “It’s gratifying to know that our non-golfing members can have as much, or more, fun as the golf enthusiasts. I think that’s one of the key differentiating factors at Frost Creek. We’ve been called, ‘Colorado’s Mountain Club’ and I think it’s very fitting,” Gibbs said. “It is a place for families to escape, make memories and have new and exciting experiences with people who share their passion for great golf and the mountain lifestyle. I believe that is what’s made Frost Creek so successful and why I can’t wait to see what the next five years brings.”

DIAMOND SPAS & POOLS

BRINGING YOUR DREAM TO LIFE

Diamond Spas & Pools Unmatched quality, custom fabrication, and sustainability, bringing your custom fabricated dream to life that will last a lifetime. ROOFTOP POOLS & SPAS Stainless Steel or copper is the perfect choice for rooftop pool or spa installations. Rooftop pool and spa construction with metal is ideal; metal weighs less than traditional materials such as gunite or concrete. A spa or pool weighing considerably less will reduce structural expenses and engineering costs. Diamond Spas will design and construct a single piece assembly to provide hoisting rigidity and easy maneuvering. This custom designed frame will also allow for leveling and fastening to your structure. The durability and beauty of stainless steel or copper is permanent, budgeting for refinishing throughout the long life of the spa will no longer have to be a consideration. Metal is amenable to nearly any design configuration and will provide a watertight vessel. THE MONARCH PORTABLE SPA Diamond Spas stocked portable luxury hot tub, The Monarch, is the perfect solution for those who prefer a standard design with a faster ship date. This portable stocked spa is a 5 person hot tub that is fabricated with a stainless-steel frame and removable access panels on all four sides for easy spa maintenance. perfect option for your home. A portable hot tub gives you flexibility in the design of your space, leaving you the ability to create the oasis of your dreams. Panel options are stainless steel, copper or no panels for drop in installation or client choice. Foam cover options are grey or brown and are ASTM certified, or The Monarch stainless steel spa with auto cover is safety rated and helps to maintain water temperature by eliminating evaporation. The auto cover switch is mounted on the side of the spa and also includes the standard foam cover. No additional power or mounting is necessary. The Monarch spa meets California Energy Commissions guidelines for CEC and ANSI/APSP-14 certifications. COLD PLUNGE THERAPY POOLS Cold plunge pools are a European phenomenon dating back to the Romans. People of the past enjoyed the sensation of going from an intensely warm environment to a chilly environment in a matter of seconds. People of today understand the health benefits that are associated with such a dramatic change in water temperature. Cold plunge pools accompany spas, saunas or steam rooms. Cold plunge pools are kept at a constant 50 to 55 degrees. By rapidly cooling the body, blood circulation is stimulated, pores are closed and detoxified. Cold plunge pools also numb the joints, and are effective in reducing pain and relieving muscle spasms. The physiology of the hot-to-cold experience is extremely beneficial to your body. When you first “take the plunge” into your Diamond Spas cold plunge pool, the chilled water instantly numbs the nerves that surround your joints and muscles, causing the release of hormones and endorphins. The release of hormones and endorphins acts as an analgesic, which alleviates muscle and joint strain and stress. Another benefit of plunging into cold water is stimulation of the immune system as the cold water causes the body to release body chemicals known as cytokines, which help to boost the body’s ability to fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. Lastly, cold water activates nerves involved in breathing and blood vessel constriction; therefore, regular use of a cold plunge pool can stabilize blood pressure.
