Skip can’t wait to play outside. He’s making snowballs. Look at that robin.
A carrot for his nose and buttons for his eyes.
Skip puts on his ice skates and goes to the ice rink. Mmm, hot chocolate and biscuits!

It’s fun playing in the snow. Lucy decides to make a snowman.
Everyone is hungry now. The little robin is hungry too!

Christmas in New York People around the world celebrate Christmas on 25th December. On Christmas day in the USA, people eat roast turkey or ham with cranberry sauce. They exchange gifts and visit friends and family.
Have fun on the ice rink at Central Park.
A visit to the cinema on Christmas day is very popular in the USA. You can watch a Christmas movie and eat lots of popcorn!
New York is a magical place to celebrate Christmas! There are lots of things to see and do.
Visit the Rockefeller Centre and see the huge Christmas tree. It is a symbol of Christmas in New York.
Go window shopping and see the incredible displays. In some shops you can also visit Santa and give him your Christmas letter!

Beans in a bag
1 Fill a glass with cold water. Put three or four black-eyed beans into the glass and leave for 24 hours. Then lift them out.

What to do:
a kitchen sponge
2 Cut a sponge so that it fits in the plastic bag.
3 Push the sponge into the bag so that it rests at the bottom. Then staple a line of about five staples down the sponge. 4 Add four tablespoons of water to wet the sponge. Then put the beans into the bag, so that they are resting on the lines of staples.

5 Close the bag, then put the bag in a warm dry place. Check the beans every day.
