The biggest shopping centres
in the world! They are big and they have many shops, but that’s not all… Let’s find out where they are and what they offer!
New South Mall China New South Mall, in China, is the biggest shopping centre in the world and it measures 600.000m². It’s divided into 7 zones; every zone is inspired by a particular city, and amongst these 7 cities there is even a Venice zone! The New South Mall opened a year ago, but it doesn’t have any customers yet: a lot of the space is still empty and not many of the shops are open yet!

West Edmonton Mall West Edmonton Mall, in Alberta, is the largest shopping centre in North America. There are 800 shops, the biggest indoor adventure park in the world, the biggest indoor aquatic park the Ice Palace (a real ice skating rink!). There is also: an 18 hole mini golf course, a cinema and a bowling alley.

It opened in 2005 and it is the largest shopping centre in Europe. There are 343 shops, 34 restaurants and fast-food outlets and 14 exclusive restaurants. Dubai Mall Dubai Mall is a very big shopping centre, in the city of Dubai. Inside there are: 1,200 shops, a skating rink, a games centre, a 5 star hotel, 22 cinema screens and 120 restaurants! The Red
This beautiful red-brown creature can be found in many different places around the United Kingdom. Let’s find out more!

DE ER The red deer, or cervus elaphus in Latin, can be seen in many grassy and forest areas around the UK including the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, Exmoor and the New Forest. It lives in the forest and likes to eat grass, leaves and heather, a small purple flower which grows on the hills. It’s got a red-brown short coat in the summer and a darker brown long coat in the
winter. The male is called a stag and it’s got antlers (a type of horn on its head) which it uses for fighting and defending itself. The stag is usually around 120 cm tall and 280 cm long! The female is called a hind and she is usually a little smaller than the male. They weigh between 100 and 120 kilograms and they are Britain’s largest land mammal!

This city wants to reduce the production of CO2, by saving energy and using clean energy, so that by the year 2029 the amount of CO2 in Sondeborg will be zero. Today 40% of Denmark’s energy is used for heating. The creation of systems which use solar energy can reduce the production of CO2. But this project wants to teach the people of Sonderborg to become responsible citizens be more respectful of nature. Also, there will be experts who can help families to find solutions to save energy … an example for every city!

The Festival of
Angels
An ancient celebration ‌ York is one of the United Kingdom’s oldest and most visited cities. It is found in the North East region or England in the county of Yorkshire. It is very famous for its Minster (cathedral), its museums and cultural attractions and its historical city walls which you can follow all the way around the central part of the city. York lies on the River Ouse, which flows through the centre of the city.

The York Festival of Angels first began in York in 2000 and it is now a very popular annual event in the city. The streets are transformed into a winter wonderland, ice sculptures are displayed around the the city centre and enterainment is provided for all the family to enjoy. You can see traditional Yorkshire brass bands next to funny street artists like jugglers and clowns!

On 14th and 15th December this year the streets of the ancient city of York will become even more beautiful when the Festival of Angels comes to town.
Food and drink No winter street festival is complete without stalls selling delicious specialities to eat and drink. Here in York you can taste some very typical local sweets like Parkin, a traditional cake made with ginger or curd tart, which is a dessert made with rosewater!
Angel Trail If you would like to join the Angel trail and try to win a prize you can look for the twelve angel “tags” around the city. These are special little pictures of angels which are displayed in some of the shop windows around the city centre. If you find them all you can enter the special Angel Competition!

The York Festival of Angels displays some enormous and very impressive ice scupltures, some of them are sculptures of very famous personalities. Solve the anagram to discover the name of one of them!
