The International Day of Peace The 21st September is the International Day of Peace. Every year at noon there is a minute of silence. In New York City at the headquarters of the UN (United Nations), they ring a special bell called the ‘Peace Bell’.

Ayers Rock Ayers Rock is in central Australia. It is a large rock formation. It is about 600 million years old!

At different times of the day the rock seems to change colour. It can be blue, purple, orange or bright red. The Aborigines are the original inhabitants of Australia. Ayers Rock is sacred to the Aborigines. They call Ayers Rock ‘Uluru’.

London and The Thames Festival The Thames Festival
Every September the Thames Festival takes place in London. It is an exciting event that celebrates London and the River Thames. During the Festival there are art exhibitions, river races, live music, food stands and lots more. There is also the Kids’ Choir. 450 children from primary schools in London come together and sing in a huge choir.
