After school What do you do after school? Do you have homework, or can you play? In the UK, kids have a lot of different hobbies and activities that they like to do after school. Let's look at a few. Are they similar in your country? Swimming

There are a lot of swimming clubs in the UK, especially for kids who want to learn how to swim or improve their swimming styles. Even if you don’t know the difference between front crawl and backstroke, you can have lots of fun in the water. Splish, splash!

Scouts

The scouts organisation is open to boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 25. When you join a scouts group you begin to learn very important skills, like team-work and communication, through activities like sports, camping, music and art. Scout groups usually meet one afternoon a week, after school.

Chess

Trampolining

Lots of kids love jumping around, so why not learn how to do it properly by joining a trampolining club. Trampolining is actually an Olympic sport. You bounce very high on the trampoline and do acrobatic movements while you go up and down. It’s a great way to learn a new skill and have fun too!

If all that sounds too energetic, maybe a chess club is the best answer for you. Chess is a game of skill and tactics. You play on a black and white board and you have either the black pieces or the white ones. The aim is to take all of your opponent’s pieces by moving yours around the board. Ready, steady… checkmate!
