GESE Grade 1 – Basic exam information

GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) Grade 1 (CEFR A1.1) examination is a conversation between you and the examiner.

Time: up to 5 minutes

Exam procedure:

• Say hello, good morning or good af ternoon

• Have a simple conversation with the examiner

• Say goodbye

For the exam, you must know the vocabulary, functions, grammar and phonology for Grade 1. For Grade 1, you must understand and be able to use the functions, grammar and vocabulary below.
