Know the Rules: 19.2 What’s it all about? Rule 19.2 covers the player’s several relief options whenever a player decides to take unplayable ball relief in the general area. This allows the player to choose which option to use - with one penalty stroke - to get out of a difficult situation anywhere except in a penalty area. How does it work? Any time a player’s ball comes to rest in the general area and they decide they cannot play the ball, the player may take penalty relief. A player is the only person who may decide to treat his or her ball as unplayable. Unplayable ball relief under Rule 19 is allowed anywhere on the course, except in a penalty area. A player may take unplayable ball relief using one of the three options in Rule 19.2 a, b, or c, in each case adding one penalty stroke. If a player’s ball is not found or identified, they may still take relief under Rule 19.2, but their only option is stroke - and - distance relief. Rule 19.1a: Stroke - and - Distance Relief: The player may play the original ball or another ball from where the previous stroke was made. Rule 19.1b: Back - On - the - Line Relief: The player may drop the original ball or another ball in a relief area that is based on a reference line going straight back from the hole through the spot of the original ball with no limit on how far back on the line. Rule 19.1c: Lateral Relief: The player may drop the original ball or another ball within 2 club lengths of the spot of the original ball.
Rule 19.2c In Action: Alex’s ball comes to rest under a bush and decides it is unplayable. She decides to take lateral relief (Rule 19.2c) from where her ball lies. First, Alex marks her reference point where her original ball lies with a tee. She then takes her longest club other than her putter, removes the head cover if it has one, and measures two club length to the left, no closer to the hole and places another tee at the end of her club. Next she drops a ball straight down from knee height and it lands in her relief area but rolls closer to the hole. Alex picks her first dropped ball up and repeats her drop. This time the ball comes to rest within the relief area. Alex’s ball is now back in play and she has completed taking relief from the unplayable ball. If Alex’s second drop also rolled forward of her reference point she would have had to place the ball within the relief area to complete taking relief.

2020 PJT Major Tournaments
2020 PJT Major Tournaments Philadelphia Junior Tour Championship (White Manor Country Club) 8/17/20 The PJT’s year end event and flagship event, the Tour Championship, is headed to White Manor Country Club for the first time. Redesigned in 2003, the par 71 Chester County layout will host the Tour Championship for the first time in 2020. This 18-hole event marks the end of the season and 2019-20 Player of the Year points race and Scoring Average leaders.
Harry Hammond Invitational (Penn Oaks Golf Club) 8/24/20 A yearly tradition on the PJT, the Harry Hammond Invitational will be hosted by Penn Oaks GC. The event, which is an invitational, is open to any PJT member aged 16-18 who has finished 1st or 2nd in their age division in a PJT tournament in the last 2 years. Harry Hammond is a past Philadelphia Section Golf Professional of the Year (1991), past Section President (1986) and past Junior Golf Chairman.
Another yearly tradition played in memory of Jon M. Pritsch. This Ryder Cup style event pits twelve juniors from the Philadelphia Section PGA against twelve juniors from the New Jersey Section PGA. This year the New Jersey Section has the honor of hosting the event at Forsgate Country Club’s Palmer Course. Click here to read more about the event and how to become a part of the Jon M. PJT Caddie Program
Join The PJT 12 & Under Caddie Program! 12 & Under Division Parents and Juniors, In the fall of 2017, the Philadelphia Junior Tour introduced the Caddie Program for the 12 & Under Division. This program has enhanced the enjoyment of PJT Tournaments for both parents and players. The program offers juniors in the 12 & Under Division assistance but ultimately allows players to make their own decisions and develop their golf skills independently. The goal of the PJT Caddie Program is to help enable the growth of a player, gain valuable tournament experience, and prepare juniors to move up to the 13-15 Division where caddies aren’t permitted. If you are interested in caddying for your junior golfer this year, please read the notes below. Who is Eligible? A caddie can be anyone over the age of 18. We recommend the caddie be the parent or close family member of the competitor. Caddies must wear a PJT caddie bib and agree to follow the PJT Caddie Code of Conduct. Although juniors can only have one caddy during the event, multiple people can caddie for the same junior throughout the season as long as they have all signed the Code of Conduct form.
A caddie must agree to and sign the PJT Caddie Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct was created to ensure the enjoyment of all players and create guidelines for the do’s and don’ts of caddying at a PJT event. Please click here to view the Caddie Code of Conduct. You may return the form by fax (215-646-3961) or by email to info@phillyjuniortour.com. Once we receive your form, we will notify you via email that you're able to register for the program. Registration Caddies must register on the Philadelphia Junior Tour website prior to an event. There will be no day of event registration for caddies. A caddie must first sign and return the Caddie Code of Conduct and purchase a caddie bib. The caddie bib will be given to you the first time you caddie at a PJT event. Only one bib must be purchased. Once at the event, the caddie should check in with the PJT staff on property.
