Nutritional supplements specialist Nourished, has brought a unique new approach to market, offering 3D printed, bespoke vitamins. CEO Melissa Snover told us more…

Here’s a mind-blowing fact for you. There is no such thing as vitamins and minerals. What? That’s right. Why?

Ready?

Vitamin is an acronym for vitamins and minerals. You can’t have both. Mind. Blown. Wander onto any social media platform now and you will be bombarded with advice on nutrition, supplements, natural remedies and magic ingredients. Heed all the advice, and there wouldn’t be enough hours in the day to take it all. A certain amount of editing is required.

Capitalising on this phenomenon and the booming supplements sector, Nourished has created a unique offering in a crowded market.

Combining personalised nutrition with the brave new world of 3D manufacturing, the firm has created a range of bespoke all-in-one gummies with all the supplements you want to take.

The firm was founded after

CEO Melissa Snover – a selfdescribed health fanatic and serial entrepreneur – was travelling abroad. After finding it difficult to transport all of her supplements and accidentally spilling them at airport security, she realised that there had to be a better approach to personalised nutrition.

She explains: “Nourished offers the world’s first ever opportunity to truly personalise nutrition through a completely bespoke nutrient regime, driven entirely by the consumer’s own wellbeing needs and goals. A simple consultation produces for each customer an individual recommendation of supplements all gathered into one delicious, easy-to-take gummy –easing the time and effort it takes to boost your health and wellness with traditional vitamin pills.”

The offering includes two core ranges: personalised gummy vitamins (Personalised Stacks) and pre-formulated gummies designed to address specific needs and goals (Life Stacks).

Personalised Stacks are created in bespoke formulas for each customer, from a range of 35 ingredients. Similarly, Life Stacks work to target specific goals – like sleep improvement, mental health support, exercise recovery and more – through pre-formulated recipes.

Nourished’s 3D printing manufacturing process allows it to make a month’s supply of Stacks in minutes, offering a significant advantage over mainstream manufacturing, which is restricted to mass production of the same product line.

Personalised Stacks are only available through the Nourished website but the Life Stacks range is on Amazon and in Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street.

Although it is for all ages, recently the team has been targeting consumers aged 60 to 70, in an effort to educate the demographic on the benefits of self-care and a “detail-oriented” wellbeing routine.

It’s an ultra competitive sector, with the UK market alone worth £1.3bn and expected to grow by more than 11% this year, but Snover believes the firm’s unique method gives it the edge.

“The team consistently find that our USP – true personalisation –helps Nourished to stand out from the crowd and offer customers a solution to their wellness concerns that they aren’t able to find from any competitors.”

The firm is already working on another 3D printed solution called Scripted - personalised dosages of prescription medicine.

In its three years of trading Nourished has seen impressive growth both organically and through strategic partnerships and investments. In 2019, Snover broke the UK record for the highest seed funding round raised by a female founder in the UK.

Last year it secured a £2.5 million investment from global conglomerate Suntory Holdings, to support the company’s international expansion and development of new technologies.

It’s the growth supplement the firm needs to bring its unique offering to the next level and it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on. If you know what’s good for you.
