Online sports equipment retailer, Net World Sports, has a proven track record of selling an expansive range of high-quality, predominantly own-brand products

Net World Sports is a global eCommerce business that is on a journey to becoming the largest online sports equipment retailer in the world. Their expansive range of high-quality, predominantly own-brand products can be found in homes around the world, whilst also supplying schools, universities, grassroots & elite professional clubs, plus many other businesses and organisations. They cover a multitude of sports, from football, tennis, and cricket to more niche sporting markets such as pickleball and handball. Over the past two years, their rapid growth has seen them explore untapped markets, introducing further sub-brands and branching out into stock lifestyle, home, and garden products. Currently operating 30 websites, with more on the way, their international presence is constantly increasing with over 60% of their sales coming from outside the UK. They say that they are bold, ambitious, and always look forward to the next milestone. Growth is in their DNA.

Although officially founded in 2009, the foundations of the business can be dated back to the playground. Whilst Alex, the Founder and CEO, was still at school, he bought a cricket bat online for £60. When he received the bat, he noticed the manufacturer’s sticker and decided to contact them to ask how much the bat cost to make. They replied saying £6, so Alex bought 10 directly from them and began selling them to his school peers and teachers. Fast-forward a few years, Alex had saved £13,000 through working 62-hour weeks at a local builder’s merchant, all of which he then spent on an entire container of sports nets, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Built from nothing, Net World Sports is now a powerhouse in the sports equipment world, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and West Ham United all utilising their FORZA football equipment. Their high-profile customers aren’t limited to football, as other customers and partners include Durham CCC, Scarlets Rugby, England Lacrosse, FA Wales, and many more. Their presence can also be felt overseas, through clubs and leagues such as Canadian Premier League, New York Giants, Field Hockey Canada, and Genoa CFC, to name a few.

Their products are not just the first choice of professionals as they trust the quality and durability, but also because of their innovation. Innovation is at the forefront of their product design – they’re relentless in their desire of creating products that solve a problem for their customers.

An example of their product innovation is their FORZA 360° Wheel. Tasked by Manchester United to create a product capable of wheeling a goal in all directions, they were the first company in the world to develop a lever-style 360° wheel for football goalposts. Leading on from this success, they created the 360° Concertina Cricket Cage. This wheeled cage ensures easy movement on and off the ground, along with a fold-away design for compact storage and a suspended internal net to reduce ball bounce back. This cage was designed, tested, and developed at Durham CCC.

As a result of their continuous success, in January 2023, the doors opened to their new state-of-theart 411,000sq. ft HQ, which will house their 10,000+ products under one roof. This £25m development will better cater for the company’s rapid growth and ambitions.
