ISSUE 10 I JANUARY 2022 PUBLISHER EDITOR IN CHIEF CREATIVE DIRECTOR Giselle Smith How is it already 2022? For us, 2021 was a blur, but in a good way. So much came to fruition that we have been hard at work on for the past few years. I can’t help but be excited for the coming year. Y’all are the best Etown. Big thanks to all of our readers, followers, advertisers, and everyone in the community. I am so grateful to have the support of Hardin County as we press on in pursuit of showcasing the best our area has to offer in upcoming issues of Elizabethtown Lifestyle Magazine.

Our mission at Elizabethtown Lifestyle is to connect citizens of Hardin County to local businesses through a curated collection of features and articles in our print publication and blog, up-to-date social media, and featuring and hosting community events. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for news on the upcoming events. Please tag us online when you’re out supporting local businesses of all kinds: Use our hashtag #ElizabethtownLifestyle, and we might just share your posts! I appreciate this community Elizabethtown. This is a special edition: The Hardin Hundred. The concept was inspired by all of the people lists that release this time of year. It’s not businesses, stores, factories, nonprofits, or hospitals that make a city what it is—it’s the people. Over the past few years, I have had the pleasure of getting to know some of Hardin County’s finest, many of whom are included, plus a mix of new faces we were referred to and met through this feature. While the pages are numbered, we nixed the Table of Contents just this once. Flip through, read their stories, read about the people, and just for kicks, read their fun facts. There is so much goodness here, and I am lucky to have had the chance to be a part. I don’t have a separate page, really I don’t say much outside of the Publisher’s Letter each issue, but I make 100 in this feature, so here goes:
Special thanks to each and every one of the advertisers featured in Issue 10 of Elizabethtown Lifestyle. We appreciate the trust you have given in allowing us to showcase your business and the very best that Hardin County has to offer. This magazine would not be the same without you—Thank you!
I moved to Hardin County in 2016 with my husband, Aleks Smith. I’ve loved magazines since I was a little girl, and at the ripe old age of eight, I could be found clipping out my favorite images from bridal magazines such as Martha Stewart and Vogue and planning out fellow third grader’s weddings. I knew early on that I wanted to be a wedding planner, and I am, have been for a decade now, but it wasn’t until 2016 that I realized just how deep my love for print publications ran. My first magazine was bridal, tying in well with my background in event and floral design. We sold it in 2018 when I married Aleks moving full-time from Texas to Kentucky, and the following year, Elizabethtown Lifestyle was born along with our son Henry. That year, in 2019, we moved into a log cabin in the woods, me, Aleks, our teenage daughter Kenzie, and then Henry plus a pair of beloved Shelties and a white with ginger cat. Fun Fact: I have a rock collection from childhood and still purchase new stones to add in whenever I am on trips and come across something cool or unique to the area we are visiting. Best,
Gisell e Smit h Publisher, Editor in Chief & Creative Director

I enjoy helping people get into their dream homes. The mortgage process can be nerve wracking for the clients, so I like to make it as easy as possible. Sometimes the process can be like a duck: Calm on the exterior but paddling like crazy underneath so as the client doesn’t have to experience that part—even if it takes time. Recently, I worked with a client for 8 months, first to get their credit in line, and then through the next steps to purchase their home. The closings are always the most fun because everyone is happy, and we’ve accomplished the goal for them. I have worked in all parts of lending for 20 years. Working with home buyers is enjoyable because you get to help them accomplish their goal.

SPECIAL EDITION: THE HAR DIN HUNDRED
Difficulty level, The Hardin Hundred is the most complicated feature we have ever produced, but well worth it. You see, it’s not the businesses, stores, fac tories, organizations, hospitals, or nonprofits that make our city and community what it is. It’s the people behind them that give so much of themselves.

Over the year s, I have watched cour troom litigation des troy and demean people and families.
This led to all our at torneys becoming cer tified in Collaborative L aw which is the f u t u r e f o c u s f o r my f i r m . T h i s approach to family law allows for families to divorce without spending hours in cour t or negative time tr ying to one -up the other per son.

Collaborative L aw includes an a t t o r n e y f o r e a c h p a r t y, a n e u t r a l third-par t y financial exper t and a n e u t r a l p a r e n t i n g a d v i s o r. In case you haven’t noticed, we are hosting events to benefit nonprofits throughout Hardin County. Eat Elizabethtown was a twelve-course meal with drink pairings served Saturday, January 8 at The Haycraft. The dinner was made up of courses from all local restaurants, bars, breweries, and wineries, who came together to donate the meal for a good cause. Images to come in Issue 11. Be sure to be on the lookout for upcoming events to get involved and give back in the community.

This year we are changing up the way we host events. In exchange for cocktail parties launching magazines, we will be planning a series of events benefitting local non-profits. Events of this nature are only successful with the support of the community. From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank those who sponsored
or attended The Fall Ball enough. From myself, Nelle, and all of the children at Mission Hope for Kids, thank you. Give us a follow on Facebook or Instagram for upcoming events and ways to get involved and give back in 2022.
