Behind the

Bowtique Quantity surveyor by day and entrepreneur by night. Tashmika Ramdav is the face behind The Gift Bowtique, a luxury gifting service based on Johannesburg. The Gift Bowtique offers everything from gifts for him and her to bridal party proposal boxes, favours and most recently, events in a box. Each gift is created uniquely by Tashmika to fit your style and budget. We find out about how Tashmika does everything as a one woman team and what the new addition, ‘Event in a box’ is all about.

All about

tashmika Being a girly girl, bows, frills and pearls are Tashmika’s thing. “Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for creativity. I have also always wanted to be a Girl Boss and to inspire the next generation of Girl Bosses through hard work and determination. Even though I love what I do on a daily basis as a Quantity Surveyor, I‘ve always dreamt of doing more.” Last year, during the lockdown, she finally got the courage to start her side hustle and The Gift Bowtique was launched in July 2020. “It is the perfect platform for me to showcase my creative and girly side on a daily basis. It allows me to carry out my daily duties as a Quantity Surveyor whilst allowing my creative side to thrive.” Everything from confirming what will be included in a particular box to delivery of the boxes, Tashmika is a one woman team. She does get a bit of help from her family to deliver a box or grab something from the store whilst she is busy being a Quantity Surveyor. “I truly love the entire process. I also enjoy giving back to my loyal followers and do like hosting a giveaway every now and again. It makes me truly grateful to know that so many people love my boxes enough to enter the giveaways and support me throughout this journey.” Femininity and her creative eye is what Tashmika uses to put together these luxurious gifts, tailored to your budget, style and personal requests. Therefore, they create gifts for all events and celebrations. Gifts range from, but aren’t limited to birthdays, brides, babies and everything in-between! “I am passionate about bringing my client’s ideas to life and making their loved ones happy. We are often asked for a pricelist however, we do not cater for standard gifts meaning each and every gift is tailored to the receiver.” The Gift Bowtique has now added an exciting service called events in a box and they are hoping to expand further in the near future.

Event

in a box

Tashmika recently got registered and even though it was an intimate event with just their immediate family, she still wanted to have the full experience to look back on the special day. “The intimate event allowed us to have personalised decor without breaking the bank. We had personalised napkin rings, personalised champagne glass tags, personalised menu cards, thank you cards and gifts.” “The day was so special that I thought I’d share the love and create a new and exciting product for The Gift Bowtique called “Event in a Box”. We are now creating invitations, save the dates, thank you cards, advice cards, menu cards, napkin rings, name tags, champagne glass tags, games, welcome signs etc. personalised to you and your event!” Their Event in a Box is perfect for small celebrations and do it yourself events. Whether it is a birthday in a box or a wedding in a box, The Gift Bowtique will supply you with everything you need to create your own spectacular event. Just like their gifts, these boxes will be tailored to suit your budget, theme and preferences. When it came to her big day, Tashmika says that she did a lot of research to see what she wanted the day to look like. “Flowers, gold accents, personalised favours and Tiffany chairs are some of the many images that came to my mind when I thought of the day. If I could help it, I would have had a pink wedding however, I went with pink, blue and purple decor with gold accents.”

About the Tashmika created each of the flower bouquets herself and used silk flowers rather than real flowers to be able to keep them for many years to come. She created a customised welcome sign and customised napkin rings with both their initials on them. “We can now use these rings for many of our events and it created a personal touch that I loved. Each guest got their own personalised glass tag which allowed guests to know which glass was theirs and provided a great keepsake of our wedding.” The menu cards were then created in the unique shape of a wedding ring. She says that it was very fitting for the theme and were printed on shimmer paper which added to the glam. “Lastly, I don't think anyone would expect to leave The Gift Bowtique Owner's event without a gift. Thank you gifts were created for every guest. The gifts included personalised thank you cards and a wedding ring gift tag. “The thank you cards

big day were created with a photo of the them and gold foiling on vellum paper while the gift tags added something extra to the ribbon of the gift boxes. The Gift Bowtique grows everyday and Tashmika loves creating new and exciting items regularly. You can look forward to some exciting things such as home decor in a box, subscription boxes, a pop up shop and possibly a networking event as well! Get in touch with The Gift Bowtique today to find your perfect gift. You can WhatsApp them on 084 789 1344 or send an email to tashmika.12@gmail.com. To share the love, the Gift Bowtique would love to offer all the readers of Ella Magazine a 10% discount off their first Event in a Box order. Throughout our entire lives we depend on each other. The quality of our relationships matter. We seek for caring relationships in an effort to connect with each other, to be in a supportive environment where we feel safe and are able to bounce back from adversity.

Where does it start? It stems from good mental health in people which enables individuals to build strong and lasting relationships. NO TIME

FOR

pleasure? I’m going to take a wild guess… you’re too busy! Overworked, overstressed and under-pleasured? Right? I thought so. Did you know that you can be busy AND still access exquisite pleasure every single day? And I’m not only talking about the saucy kind of pleasure. I’m talking about the everyday - dare I say simple kind! I’m a Pleasure Coach, and the number one reason people come to me is because they want to enjoy more of the fun stuff of life - but they’re just TOO BUSY! Being “too busy” is the easiest, knee-jerk excuse to avoid pleasure. And I get it. Time is your most precious resource - just 24 little hours a day, and you can never get more of it. Not even if you’re Oprah!

It’s very easy to put pleasure off until later. You’re taught that productivity comes above all else. And if you’re not getting stuff done, you should feel guilty. Sound familiar? But there are scientific benefits to experiencing pleasure! It triggers the release of powerful mood boosting hormones, and endorphins…yes please! Plus, pleasure can spark energising aliveness in every single cell in your body. In fact, prioritising pleasure can energise you to do an even better job at your chosen tasks too! Even if all that sounds nice, it might still feel impossible to achieve - because YOU just don’t have time. Well, get ready, because I’m about to destroy this excuse. Introducing Pleasure Microdosing! By microdosing, pleasure can be yours right now, even though you have a tonne of stuff on your to do list. The idea is to create tiny feel-good moments over and over again throughout your day. These compound and leave you feeling even more pleasure the next day. It’s like building and stoking a pleasure fire. One action adds some tinder, another adds fuel, another sparks a flame, another feeds it wood and you just keep going all day long until you have a roaring inferno. The power is in the repetition. The small things become big things and it just keeps getting easier. Are you wondering what kind of actions count? Well, let’s ask you. What makes you feel good? Chucking out those old undies? Yep. Taking a deep breath? Yes. Shifting and moving your body? Yes Presenting your meal beautifully on your plate? Yes Touching your skin with a loving presence? Yes.

A long relaxed bubble bath? Yes A walk in nature with a breeze on your skin? Yes Saying loving affirmations? Yes You can access a microdose of pleasure right now even while you’re on a work call, or folding washing. You can run your fingertips over your thighs, hum your favourite tune or scratch your nails on the palm of your hand. You see, it is always accessible and it doesn’t need to take extra time. Give yourself permission to do it! You’ll learn to help yourself to feel better over and over, many times a day. Soon, everything and anything can become your personal pleasure activation. So, you see, you can never really be too busy for pleasure! Of course, there are other obstacles that may stop you from feeling able to step fully into your pleasure potential, and those are addressed in The 7 Day Pleasure Plan, my audio course designed especially for busy people. You can download Day 1 for free right now by visiting www.itslisawelsh.com

urnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. A creative visionary Matshepo Molotsi (26), is creative, an Architectural Technologist by profession and a beauty enthusiast by passion. She holds an Architecture degree from the Tshwane University of Technology, is a self-taught makeup artist, and is the founder and CEO of KebaaSkin Organic Skin Care. Matshepo is a visionary and she loves creating. ”I discovered my passion for the beauty industry through an adverse situation in my life. From grade 7-9 I was bullied because of a birth mark I have on my left cheek. I then started experimenting with makeup during my late high school years, trying to hide it.” Matshepo was always willing to learn and so she didn’t just stop with foundation and powder, she wanted to explore the art of makeup. After seeing what her creative hands can do, she knew immediately that this was what she wanted to do. “My entrepreneurial journey began when I realised that I am blessed with many talents, the main one being my creativity.” It was in the second year of my Architecture studies when Matshepo started turning her makeup passion into a business. Since then, she has enjoyed turning her talents, skills and all the ideas that come with that into business ideas.

KebaaSkin Matshepo was inspired to start KebaaSkin after she lost her mother to COVID-19, in December 2020. Kebaa comes from her Setswana name – Kebaakae. “As a beauty enthusiast, I have always known that I’ll have my own brand one day. I felt the need to honour my mother as she had a great impact in my passion for the beauty industry.” She says that naming this business after her is the best way that she can make sure that she keeps her memory alive forever. “It has brought me peace and healing in all forms, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It has birthed a new presence of her spirit in my life.“

Social Media One of the things that’ have also made Matshepo’s entrepreneurial journey easier is social media. It’s a very helpful tool, and when it’s used correctly, it creates magic for business. ”Influencer marketing has been one of the best marketing strategies for me. I’ve worked with 7 of my favourite beauty influencers already and they were more than willing to help promote my brand on their social platforms.” She says that social media has also made it easier to start her brand from home and on her Iphone, especially because she started the business during a pandemic.

2021 Achievements 1. The launch of KebaaSkin,

The Arrow You Need Black Arrow Design Studio was founded by Melisha Maharaj on 27 February 2016. Melisha started her studies at Vega School Of Brand Leadership, where she set a goal of having her very own design studio in the next 5 years. After graduating in 2012 with her BA degree in Visual Communications, she went on to pursue her career to gain more industry experience in the world of design and marketing. She still kept her goal in mind and in less than 5 years decided it was time to make that life changing decision to become an entrepreneur.

Melisha registered the business and obtained a Level 1 BBBEE accreditation and BLACK ARROW DESIGN STUDIO (PTY) LTD was born. The name Black Arrow was chosen from a quote she was drawn to about the meaning behind an arrow. “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming.” Black Arrow Design Studio offers a variety of services such as corporate identity, promotional gifting, branded apparel, social media marketing and more.

She received a tremendous amount of support from her family, friends and business connections she had gained over the years. Within the first year, the business had an extensive database and growing portfolio just through word of mouth and social media marketing. Melisha has maintained a positive attitude through all challenges she has faced along the way, by using her design knowledge to conquer through. Later on, she decided that it was time to encourage other young boss girls and women to embrace who they are and show off their boss lady title with pride and so the BOSS LADY range was born. This started with a selection of branded mugs, canvas's and this year launching the apparel range.

This Boss Lady has big plans for the future and plans to grow into a multifaceted design agency

This Boss Lady has big plans for the future and plans to grow into a multifaceted design agency. Melisha is also a proud South Asian curly haired girl making her presence on social media, in hopes to inspire others who are just like her. She explains how growing up being a South Asian wasn’t always easy, but finding her voice over the years has been nothing short of empowering. Melisha strives to continue to inspire others and be the ultimate Boss Lady!
