There’s not much that uses less energy than a WEG W22 permanent magnet motor drive system. Energy-efficiency doesn’t have to mean doing less. The WEG W22 permanent magnet IE5 is the most energy-efficient motor available, meeting the highest IE5 efficiency standards. Alternatively choose the WEG Premium or Super Premium Efficiency W22 motors to meet or exceed IE3 or IE4 standards. In fact, don’t waste energy searching for motors. Just choose WEG. Transforming energy into solutions.

Business guide 2016 Beste ondernemers, beste leden,

PUBLIREPORTAGE
THE ART OF HANDLING AIR
GOOD QUALITY AIR PROMOTES EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE. Good air is a factor in your quality of life. Whether outside in open air or in an enclosed space, we only feel truly well in fresh air, the elixir of life. This applies in particular to education. Already in 1884 the scientist Mr. Pettenkofer, started measuring carbon dioxide levels in schools. His findings were the base of modern ventilation systems. Recent studies have also shown that having the best possible indoor air quality is important for educational success. Yet despite clear findings, mechanical ventilation still does not form part of the educational standard.
systems, particularly for large air volumes. TROX jet nozzles and ceiling diffusers have found their ways into many university buildings all over the world and successfully passed all tests.
Refurbishment in backlog education. Around half of all universities, schools and pre-schools are in need of refurbishment. And the ambitious targets, set by climate policy, can only be achieved by pushing forward the energy-efficient refurbishment of public buildings, which still constitute 40 % of primary energy consumption.
Lecture theatres are a specialty among places of assembly. They are characterized by a very high occupancy rate (2m² per person). There are high heat loads caused by the high number of people. As a consequence, large air volumes are required for the ventilation of lecture theatres.
Energy-efficient refurbishment of educational institutions would have a far more wide-reaching effect than just saving energy. It would also be a noticeable increase in performance. Introducing thermal insulation measures and an air-tight envelope would necessitate something that is proven to lead to tangible educational success: an improvement in air quality. And, according to international studies, this can only be achieved using mechanical ventilation. Measurements in class rooms and auditoriums have shown that the CO² concentration during normal window ventilation often dramatically exceeds the recommended limit. Values up to 11.000 ppm have been measured in some places. Experts thus recommend that schools fundamentally be provided with mechanical ventilation systems to guarantee a satisfactory air quality in the classroom. For energy savings, these ventilation systems should be equipped with a heat recovery unit. All-air systems for universities. New university buildings use classical mixed flow
TROX Auranor Norway has particularly interesting reference projects in the higher education sector, where buildings have been equipped with a whole range of TROX ventilation. Not only is the performance of the TROX components convincing, they also blend in aesthetically with the beautiful and unique architecture of the buildings.
In many lecture theatres the seats are installed on steps, which can be used to accommodate the ventilation units. The air distribution ductwork can be installed in the false floor with diffusers under each seat. The supply air is then introduced as a displacement flow that concentrates on the occupied zone with a high level of comfort. The “Karel de Grote Hogeschool” in Antwerp is one example of where this principle was used. But also in the cultural sector, like in the Opera of Ghent, in the conference-Palace 10 on the Brussels’ Heizel or in the Museum of Fine Arts, in the “Salle Leboeuf” (know from the famous Queen Elisabeth contest). Clean air. Clean room technology and clean room management systems are found in many more areas than you may think, and not only in operating theatres, life science or semiconductor production. They are also needed in the nano industry, in pharmacies, automotive engineering, breweries or universities. In short, wherever the requirements of hygienic air and pressure control are high. Universities are often equipped with laboratories for
research. The requirements for engineering of air systems in laboratory buildings are complex and demanding. To provide safety and comfort in these laboratories at all times, the components of an air conditioning system are interconnected. An intelligent lab air management system records all relevant data, evaluates and ensures that any set point values are maintained. The TROX-LABCONTROL system offers a customized solution including the regulation and monitoring of individual fume cupboards and rooms, all the way up to the provision of an entire laboratory building ventilation system. With LABCONTROL and the EASYLAB controller TROX has developed an air management system which is ideal for highly sensitive areas. The integral plug and play functions allow all controllers in the network to immediately communicate once they have been installed, i.e. no component addressing is required. Due to their modular hardware structure controllers can be adapted to individual requirements. X-CUBE, for the highest levels of hygiene and safety. After diffusion and regulation the heart of the installation remains the production of quality air. Whether it’s in hospitals, music theatres, laboratories or in universities, in highly sensitive areas, more than anywhere else, an air handling unit must meet particularly stringent hygiene requirements. Trox launched the production of the TROX X-CUBE in 2012, an air handling unit with unlimited configuration options. With the X-CUBE, TROX sets a new standard in the AHU market and defines considerably higher levels of quality, performance, flexibility, reliability, energy efficiency, and hygiene. The units are very versatile. They can be individually configured and are hence suitable for a wide spectrum of applications. More than 70 sizes are available, and they are designed for volume flow rates of 600 to 86.000 m³/h at an airflow velocity of 2 m/s. X-CUBE units are available

as supply or extract air units or as a combination of both. The units can be arranged side by side or on top of each other, depending on the installation site. With the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union has committed itself to reducing CO² emissions by at least 20% by 2020. In order to reach this goal, the EU adopted already in 2005 the Energy-Using Products Directive. The Energy-Related Products Directive 2009/125/EG, colloquially called ‘ecodesign directive’, defines minimum requirements for many energy-related products. Within the European Union, air handling units have to meet new energy efficiency requirements from 1 January 2016 onwards. The next step after that will become effective two years later, on 1 January 2018. TROX air handling units are configured to individual customer requirements with dedicated configuration software. This software automatically considers the new energy efficiency requirements for all X-CUBE air handling units and hence ensures their correct configuration. All air handling units that are produced and placed on markets of the European Union from 1 January 2016 onwards meet the new requirements. Trox has delivered in these last three years air handling units to three universities in Belgium: Ghent University (UGent), in the animal hospital VRB; the University of Leuven (Rega Institute for Medical Research) and in the Université Catholique de Louvain-La-Neuve - Laboratoire Lavoisier. TROX understands the art of completely handling air like no other company in the world. Since 64 years in close collaboration with demanding clients from around the globe they have successfully developed and manufactured leading technologies and marketed systems and components for indoor climate, control and ventilation.
