The October Issue

Letter From The Editor “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in fall. -F. Scott Fitzgerald Hello Elon. I could not be more excited to be releasing the first issue of The Edge this fall semester. Our staff has worked very hard to create content and put together this issue. For the first time in a long time, we have an entire new set of editors and contributors. The Edge is experiencing new changes which is opening new doors and opportunities for all students. We have launched our new website ElonEdge.Wordpress.com where students can contribute articles and be published. We have everyone from freshmen to seniors; business majors to art majors -- pitching, writing and creating content. Having so many people passionate about creating editorial content guarentees that this will be one of the best semesters yet. For this issue, freshman Kristin Leechow styles her own fashion shoot (pg.32). We make some bougie popcorn to enjoy in the colder weather (pg. 12). And we speak to the founder and the president of I Am That Girl to find out what makes the club so special (pg.26). Thank you all for the constant support of The Edge and we hope you enjoy the October issue.

HOW TO: bullet Journal Hannah McCarthy STYLE EDITOR

Bullet journaling is the latest organizational tool worshipped by overworked moms and flustered college kids alike. When tasks seem too numerous and life feels cluttered, bullet journaling is sure to cleanse you of chaos.

STYLE | 7

To further classify reminders, there are three important symbols. - Mark reminders with “*” when they have priority. - Mark reminders with “!” when they represent inspiration. - Mark reminders with a small eye if it’s something that needs more information.

#6 Jot down a topic at the top of the page, even if it is just the date, and number it at the bottom of the pages

#1

Open bullet points denote events. The events are date related entries that can be scheduled or written after they occur. 8 | STYLE

#2

Dashes indicate notes. They can be facts, ideas, thoughts or observations.

#4

Tasks are represented by bullet points and include action tasks - Mark bullet points with “X” when the task is complete. - Mark bullets with “>”

#3

Each reminder should be written as a bulleted, short objective. The bullets can then be oragnized into three categories: tasks, events and notes.

Rolls

Carrying a backpack or a tote can often cause a strain on our neck and shoulders, so doing neck and shoulder rolls will knock out the stress. By doing these, you are releasing toxins in your upper head area. Remember to go slow!

Frog Cobra This is a classic yoga stretch that most people may know, but it should not be forgotten. Cobra stretches your back and abs, so you’re killing two birds with one stone. This will help your flexibility.

16 |BEAUTY & WELLNESS

This isn’t a game of leap frog, but the goal of this stretch is to imitate the look of a frog. In the frog position, your hips will open and the goal of this is to keep your hips touching the ground as well as your feet touching the ground too.

Toe-Touches As you get older, your hamstrings get tighter so you always have to stretch them out. Everyday we use our hamstrings without even noticing it because we are constantly walking, running, climbing stairs etc. By doing these stretches, you can keep them nice and warm.

Modified Lunge While dancers do lunges everyday to perfect their splits, it’s also important for everybody to do lunges (modified of course), that way they can stretch out their inner thighs. The inner thigh is not a spot that most people stretch, so not only will it feel really good, but your flexibility will increase.
