Thrift Stores Exposed
18
www.elucidmagazine.com
Fashion is an everyday template. If someone is not wearing the latest, they are viewing seasonal “ins.” Like months pass, so do fashion statements.
_____________________________________
Many attempt to keep up with the trends, eager to be dressed in runway look-a-likes, and designer knock offs. Suggestions made against what patterns are winning, what accessories are in demand, and what shape purse is most contagious. Thankfully, for every celebrity car payment draped gracefully over a forearm, there is a “lost twin,” much more practical in price, and ideally identical to the naked eye. So while we flip through magazines or channel surf, we often forget a motto eagerly pushed on us growing up….”be yourself.” While copycat attire is not a mark of fleeting originality, it can be more feasible to cloth off of suggestive media emphasis, instead of conjuring ones own original take on shirts, suits, and ties. Enter the little respected dainty shop of one of a kind returns….thrift shop. Yes, I hear the eye rolls. I sense the head shakes and the nose perch up just a bit. Some are confused and riveting for the support of these second hand shops. Many swear by their prices, and non-chalantly brush off the “ick,” factor of not wearing something brand new. I have personally found great items at these retail shops, in superb condition, reasonably tagged, and above all else…not in large quantity. I think the best thing about a thrift shop or an antique store is the fact
that a duplicate is highly unlikely. I appreciate the times, and often dabble in the “who is wearing what,” hoopla of Hollywood elite. I have often added to my wardrobe with accessories or articles of clothing seen on television or in print. I have seen an outfit and thought, “that looks nice,” but I also love when I’m seen once, not twice. Thrift shops do have a regulation of inspecting items that are supplied. Smell, condition, style, and season are all taken into consideration when accepting charitable giving, so as much as I have joked about buying the jacket a woman was killed in, they do possess a level of selection. Not only are thrift shops great for clothes at a bargain, but home decor as well. I focus on the term thrift shop, but I am referring to any privately owned boutique, or second hand retail facility. Boutiques can be a bit more pricey, but I hope to capitalize on the originality of shopping “different,” over the leisure of style sororities. Now time is of the issue. Do not expect to walk in and find everything in the best condition immediately. It does take some carousing. That bargain buy takes a little bit of hunting time, or perhaps a lot. But when you find that perfectly worn in jean jacket, faded at just the right amount at the elbows or pocket, and it fits like a glove…golden ticket. The
best part is when you peek over to that white tag so delicately stapled to the sleeve, and see its flirting right under 8.00, you can’t help but wonder its story. What happened in this? Did someone fall in love in this? Did someone have the best day of their life in this? Did someone have their heart broken while buttoning up denim heaven? Why is it here? But then you pick it up, take it off the hanger, and approach the register. Perhaps you look for some jeans, or a vintage shirt, or maybe you are satisfied with this steal buy, and bag it up. Either way you prance down the street, bear the cold weather, and wonder what will happen to you in it. Don’t second guess second hand shops. Just because there’s a little life in your buy, does not mean its less lively, hip, or beautiful. Like you. Thrift shops hold treasures. Slightly worn, yes. Maybe a little dinged, true. Perhaps even a bit stretched or under colored, but the fascination of that exemplary buy, that vintage look or one of a kind print, not only accessorizes any kept closet, but it brings an immediate touch of individuality. Bargain up people! It’s worth it.

THINK BIG. On a weekly basis we fall into the same habits that turn in to a routine and later on a lifestyle. Year after year we make goals and plan for a better beginning or fresh start on a new journey. Yet more than half of the people, who start are not successful when it comes to completing their goals. What is makes it difficult to change and challenge you to become better? Well now that we are half way through the year with the summer around the corner this is a great time to push your self.

Yet to achieve a goal isn’t easy, a great way to start is make a list of tasks that can be completed in 24 hours. Yes in 1 day, let’s be realistic it you will take a few steps before completing the goal. Write out what you want to accomplish for the month, leading up to a long term goal for the end of the year. Big or small strategy is essential, be honest and write out in detail what can fit into a schedule. How can you benefit to make in the long run? What will make this goal or dream a reality. Sitting down and procrastinating is easy so don’t think it will be the same to make the goal. Each day should be a challenge. Whether it’s walking for an hour or reading a chapter a day you must be consistent to be successful. Here are some easy essentials to get started but become a goal achiever!
1. Invest in a planner! Either a weekly/ monthly planner to keep organize and on top of each task. 2. Use reminders on your phone. If you prefer a tech savvy approach use the calendar and daily reminders for each day. 3. Stay focus! If you face a set back and don’t finish one task make it the first thing to be completed the next day. 4. Invest in an organizer app for your phone. Here are some good ones to try below.

If I had that choice, I would definitely say an Eagle. I could then soar through the skies and travel with freedom to anywhere I want..
While you were a child growing up, what did you imagine yourself becoming? Growing up, I always wanted to be a travel show host where I would get an opportunity to travel to different corners of the world and explore their culture, art, tradition, food and so much more.
You are an Influencer, What is that set you apart and made you successful? A positive mind and optimism! No matter how many storms I faced, no matter how dark the tunnel was, I always kept a straight mind and tried my level best to move forward.
What’s the message you want to deliver to your followers? Jeez, I have so many. Chase your dreams, good things take time so don’t give up! Don’t live a life you don’t want to just because you are tied down by the society. Always take pride on what you do. Don’t fear the failure, you are here to learn andprogress. Say NO to people when you have to! Always advocate peace and prosperity for all.
Do you consider yourself street smart or book smart? Can I say both? Haha.. I am definitely more of a streetsmart person.
Do you have a mentor, if yes who? I usually learn from my own experiences but right now, I can safely say that my husband has become one of my biggest mentor. He is always there to guide me to follow the right direction when I lose my way sometimes.
Everyone in this world comes with an unique identity, so be yourself and stay unique. Nabina Basnet Photographer : Hair & Make up artist: Dress:

-You are an Influencer, What is that set you apart and made you successful? Honestly, I get that question a lot, and I think the reason is why I’m successful is because I didn’t do it for the free clothing or for the opportunities, but because I genuinely love getting dressed in the morning and want to showcase that at its best. - What’s the message you want to deliver to your followers? Voyeurs/ WHY MEN ARE
By Randall Radic
Nine Inch Nails sang:
“I want to fuck you like an animal / I want to feel you from the inside.”
Many, many studies have demonstrated that, regardless of one’s own level of attractiveness, all human beings desire the most beautiful partners. Physical attractiveness and good looks rule the roost! Yet within that matrix, sadly, reality intervenes. For most individuals are not accorded the favor of overreaching. One cannot move facilely from one level of beauty to another. Most individuals end up with someone equal to themselves in the looks department. Thus, the more beautiful one is, the more beautiful the ones you will attract. And that being said, why are males the primary viewers of the eight billion dollar per year pornography industry?
Supposedly, because pornography is wired directly to male desires: for anonymous sex, for quick sex, for visual thrills. The first two – anonymous sex and quick sex – are specious. But the third, visual thrills, is very close to the mark. The male pre-frontal cortex is very visual. Males are voyeurs – hardwired ocular perverts. Males are spatial in orientation, females more locus-directed. And the result? Men spend a large portion of time looking at women. Whereas women, funny as it seems, spend most of their time looking at other women. And most interesting, same-sex relationships suggest that beauty is high on the priority list; men are not merely objectifying and denigrating women by their pursuit of beauty. Men enjoy beautiful women. They like to look at them. They find them magnetic. And just so you know, women are not far behind in their voyeurism. Both sexes want it; it’s just that men want it more.
Elucid Magazine Fashion
51
Therefore, men obsessively watch women. Not pruriently, although in some cases it may be. And even rarer is psycholagny: sexual enjoyment from imaginary acts – although, admittedly, it can be part of voyeurism. Mostly, though, it is pure visual gratification. They size up facial and physical characteristics, and consciously or not, assign merit. Facially, males are seeking the Virgin Mary; physically, they are seeking the mistress of mechanical advantages. And both objectivity and subjectivity enter into the situation. Beauty creates an image in the visual region of the brain – the brain receives impressions which, initially, it may find unfamiliar, and so translates to the concept most closely related. Thus as the mind gains sensitivity, the mind’s eye verges on rapport with form, image, and motion – beauty. In pure voyeurism, the sensations occur cerebrally, i.e. in the nerves. Vasomotor nerves regulate the diametrical size of veins. Thus, vasodilation of the corpora cavernosa in the male of the species is tumescence. Nerve, as a hapax legomena, is only found in the phrase “strain every nerve,” i.e., to try as hard as possible. ‘Nerve’ also refers to any of the cordlike fibers or bundles thereof, connecting the organs of the body with the central nervous system, and carrying impulses to and from the brain or a nerve center. And amazingly, the word ‘nerve’ also refers to the pulp of a tooth. Or ‘nerve’ can be emotional control, that is, coolness under dangerous circumstances, courage. It can be strength, energy, vigor. In the plural form, ‘nerves’, the word means something akin to hysteria, what they used to call the “vapors.” Employed informally, the word means impudent boldness, audacity, brazenness. And employed biologically, the word refers to a vein in a leaf or an insect’s wing. All that to say this: men have their ‘nerve.’ That is to say, they are bold in their voyeurism; and they have an optic nerve of delicate sensitivity. They seek out, and like to look at, beautiful women. In other words, men are true voyeurs, if by voyeur one means observing others in an intense and exaggerated manner. Thus males utilize vast amounts of time staring at women. But not vice versa. Indeed, women primarily observe other women, both in the media and in real life. Why? They are checking out the competition. Women look at other women to measure their personal cachet. You’ve got to see how you’re doing, right?!

54
www.elucidmagazine.com
Beauty has a kind of energy; or perhaps it’s the other way round: certain types of energy are beautiful. In either case, whichever is true, youth has more energy than maturity – usually. There are wonderful exceptions, of course. But in the main, physical beauty peaks around age 35. The psychologists propound many reasons for men desiring younger women: trying to regain or hang onto their own youth; role playing the part of a father; control or dominance issues, and a host of other equally inane ideas. The real reason is this: men like to be seen with young, beautiful women. Beauty is desirable. Men lust for it. And it augments their own status, not only in their own estimation, but in that of their fellows. Men have very specific visual paradigms for their sexual/romantic partners. Because if you’re seen with a beautiful, young piece of ass, then you must be lovable, right? You must be acceptable and have significance! There’s the real reason. And the bottom line is this: what choice do you make when you have reality confronting you? Real-life choices are Aristotlean in nature, they are linear; they are Neolithic in density. In real-life men choose women based upon appearance – beauty. Statistics relate the true tale: beautiful women are ten times more likely to receive marriage proposals than ugly women. And the more beautiful the woman, the more likely she will ‘marry up,’ that is, marry a man with a greater degree of formal education and with a higher income. And interestingly enough, none of the aforementioned statistical criteria applies to males of the species. To put it quite bluntly: ugly women get ugly men; beautiful women get better educated, well-heeled men. And sadly, women with a high IQ have no advantage over their less intelligent counterparts.
Beauty is the key factor.
*
And not only does beauty rule, but it makes more money, for the top male models make ten percent of what the top female models make in salary per annum. But don’t let the figures mislead you. The top male models are still making at least 3 or 4 times the annual salary of their uglier male peers. Thus beauty is mankind’s most fungible asset. And not just for financial return; but also for social connections, sex, marriage, career advancement, recognition, etc.

//Romel Brewster HESQUARE, reflects finding and expressing your individual Identity through fashion by taking a mixture of influences from the world around us and our life styles. It is also a representation of what it takes to have an identity of your own. The philosophy is that It takes two humans to create one, and from that one, comes new identity and HESQUARE identifies the personality of those new ideas and personas while paying homage to our predecessors. In fashion new trends/ styles are created daily, but inspiration is drawn from one or more influences or designs, hence the human element factor. When everything is over and done what would you want your legacy to be? Romel’s legacy is for HESQUARE to live on and be handed down through the generations, not only providing quality clothing to those seeking to express who they are through fashion, but also being able to make changes for the better by providing help and resource to change people’s livelihood. The arts is a connection to the soul, it invokes emotions that makes us see things in a different perspective and allow us to feel the cultures around us. Carrying on that torch will be my legacy.

How to Spot a Cheater a Mile Away Article by: Mara Berger
Over 90% of the people you meet in your life have been cheated on and don’t even know it. Many times people will suspect that something isn’t right in their relationship, but doesn’t have the courage to stand their ground. The reason for this is that being in a toxic relationship is less scary to us then the thought of being potentially alone. Unfortunately a lot of us think we’re in a great relationship with a man who will never cheat on us and it could be years before we find out the truth. That’s why I want to share with you some tips on how to spot a cheater a mile away. I have not only been the cheater, been cheated on, and I hate to say this but I have also been the homewrecker. First things first, if after you read this you realize the truth about your man please remember that you didn’t do anything wrong. A lot of times people cheat because they know they can, it has nothing to do with you as a person. Now let me share with you some of the red flags. Have you ever hung out with your guy and the whole time he’s smiling while texting someone else? Have you ever wondered why he prefers to hang out with another woman at odd hours of night? Why are we watching a show together, but he’s not even paying attention to me or the show? Is it just me or is it kind of weird that he never wants to kiss me goodbye anymore?
72
www.elucidmagazine.com
Why did he make sure to tell me right when I walked into the room, that he was just talking to his dad on the phone? Was he just checking out that girl? Why is his ex-sending him flirty messages on his Facebook wall? It’s plain and simple ladies! He’s either cheating or thinking about cheating. I hate to break it to you, but an emotional affair can be ten times worse than actually cheating. Sometimes people just see sex as sex, and don’t have to have actual feelings for the person. The crazy part is that so many of us see these red flags on a day to day basis, yet we ignore our gut and stay with the jerk. Why do we do this? I said it once and I will say it again… We’re scared to be alone! When you’re in a relationship for years it’s hard to imagine waking up every day and not having your best friend to turn to. You would rather stick with what you know and who you know. We all know the saying “the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.” This is insanity! No one and I mean no one deserves to be cheated on. When someone cheats on you it means they have no respect for you and only care about themselves. We need to stop shutting the blinds when we don’t want to see the truth.

Truth is we believe them because we’re hopelessly in love with their lies. The best is when you date a really manipulative guy. He will tell you that you’re being paranoid. An all-time favorite of mine is when they say “if you really loved me you would trust me.” Next time your man says that you tell him that trust has to be earned, and don’t let his manipulative comments make you doubt yourself. I will leave you with one last tip and please write this one down. If you’re lucky enough to land yourself a real scumbag, he will tell you to look at their phone assuming that will make you trust them. A lot of times this works because it makes you think clearly he isn’t hiding anything. This couldn’t be more wrong! They’re playing you and know if they say that you will probably not even check their phone.

If you had a day off, how would we most likely find you spending your day? Probably at the gym! I have learned so much about fitness in the last year from working on the show - it has really inspired me to get in shape and to stay that way. I actually enjoy working out and eating right. I have more energy and just feel better overall. I also love spending time with friends laughing and playing games. Those simple nights are my favorite.

You seem to do it all. Dancing, singing, songwriting, acting. You are quite versatile. Is there anyone you look up to as a role model for your career?
Thank you! There are so many that I look up to. I really admire actors who have been able to have diverse careers. Actors such as Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Meryl Streep, and the like who have worked in every genre and played every different character type. What I love about being an actor is constantly having to learn and grow personally and professionally. I hope to continue to do that throughout my career.

Any tips for keeping it real in the entertainment industry? Surround yourself with real people. People who appreciate you for you and love you and know you outside of your career. It’s so easy to get caught up in the superficial and the unreal that you miss out on those little genuine moments. Seeking out authenticity in a world of make believe is the most important. You are special for a reason. Remember that reason and stay focused on your true intentions.
I read that you graduated Summa Cum Laude at 17 and are currently working on a Masters in Literature. Was this something that was important to you? Where did you find the time to do this and act?
Education has always been of utmost importance to me. No matter what happens in life or what path you take, your education will always be there to serve you in every aspect of your life. It’s so important to take advantage of educational opportunities and not take them for granted. Education and knowledge should be appreciated not dreaded. How did I find the time? I just made a commitment and made it work. My education and my career were both important to me so I didn’t give myself any other choices but to make it happen. I sacrificed a lot of sleep but it was all worth it in the end.
It’s so important to take advantage of educational opportunities and not take them for granted. Education and knowledge should be appreciated not dreaded.
Is acting something you see yourself pursuing into the future? And if you weren’t acting, what would you like to do?
Early on in my career, I worked with Angela Lansbury and Elaine Stritch in A Little Night Music. Hearing their stories of their decades of experience in this industry as well as seeing their incredible work ethic inspired me so much. It solidified my desire to pursue this career for the rest of my life. It’s a career that changes and grows with the individual as their life experience changes. I want to experience that and be a part of telling great stories for as long as possible. If I wasn’t acting, I’m not sure what I would be doing. I originally planned to go into finance so probably something in that field.
Tell me about your character Clary Fray on Shadowhunters. Are there any similarities between the two of you? Is there added pressure to play the lead role on a hit show?
There are quite a few similarities between Clary and myself. She has a passion for all she does and a fierce loyalty to the people she loves which I connect to. She is a character that’s more similar to who I am as a person than any I’ve played before. It’s a bit scary sometimes because it puts me in a very vulnerable place as an actor - exposing parts of myself that hit close to home - but that’s part of the fun. We want to do the story and the characters justice for the show and for the fans. However, this is actually a benefit. It’s a good kind of pressure. It pushes me and all of us to rise to the occasion and achieve things we never thought possible. That desire gives an energy that makes the show special.
I’m sure the cast spends a great amount of time together. Any behindthe-scenes stories you’d like to share with us? Oh there are so many stories. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing cast family as I do on SHADOWHUNTERS. There are no egos involved. Everyone is there to make the show better and to elevate everyone else. We are there for each other and support each other in every sense through this crazy amazing project. I adore each of them more than words can even express. That being said, I’m the little sister on set so I get pranked a lot. I mean a lot. I’m startled very easily so there are countless occasions where someone would jump out from a dark corner and I would jump or squeal or something. I wouldn’t have it any other way though! It keeps me on my toes! :)

Fashion meets fitness with Athleisure Article by: Chelsea E. Dill Photographer : Model: Designer:

www.elucidmagazine.com
Getting dressed in the morning for many New York women means reaching for their go-to power suit—but chances are, the starched shirts and buttoned blazers of the past remain in the back of the closet. Now, the daily uniform that is kept in the prime hanger space comes as yoga leggings, slouchy tees, and asymmetrical track jackets. These wardrobe workhorses are a part of the rising Athleisure fashion, a trend that is here to stay and keeps getting better. Women can multitask like nobody’s business. With active, busy lifestyles, women have been first to adapt their wardrobe towards Athleisure apparel. Without compromising style, women can outfit themselves for any activity that fills their schedule. The rise of Athleisure also means that women can now accomplish both professional and personal goals like a boss. They are dressed for success in the gym and workplace alike. The power you feel from pushing through that extra mile in spinning class may propel you to ace that afternoon presentation at the office. More and more designers are keeping women fashionably fit by creating coveted pieces that work in the gym as well as in the office. Adidas x Stella McCartney first debuted in 2004 and continues turning out ultra-cool active wear. Rebecca Minkoff, DKNY, Tory Burch, Givenchy, and Derek Lam are just some of the designers who also created activewear collections, either as part of their own label or in collaboration. Some designs are purely fashionable with an athletic twist, while others take the fashion-and-function road to heart so you can sweat in style. Even celebrities are getting into the game. Besides rocking the trend flawlessly like Kendall Jenner in a striped, red tracksuit, or Bella Hadid in an Adidas mini-dress, some celebs are partnering to create their own brand of Athleisure wear. The much-anticipated Ivy Park, one of the newest Athleisure brands cofounded by Beyoncé, combines “fashion-led design with technical innovation,” according to the brand’s website. Victoria’s Secret Angel, Behati Prinsloo recently launched Behati x Juicy Couture for a modern twist on the iconic tracksuits for Juicy Couture Black Label. Women’s apparel might be trailblazers in Athleisure, but there are also great men’s pieces in the trend. For your guy’s next birthday, score him a Hugo Boss hooded jacket and see if he can keep up with you in Calvin Klein Collection’s Men’s Performance runners. There are multitudes of athleisure apparel for different activities and personal style. Subdued basics like black and grey give a cool, polished aura in any setting. Try Alo Yoga’s black Cozy Up draped sport vest with Ultracor’s black-and-white Halftone Print Legging to exude athletic chicness. Feeling ambitious? Show off your playful-but-hardcore attitude with printed leggings from SoulCycle or Lululemon. The vibrant colors have a sense of fun and help you tap into your inner warrior as you catch a burn. Fendi’s mesh-trimmed patterned sneakers make your feet feel luxe as you walk to work, while Onzie’s graphic leggings make your push through that last vinyasa with power.
Fashion meets, fitness with Athleisure. The great thing about athleisure is that you can combine pieces, like color-blocked leggings and neutral-tone tees with a statement bag and selected accessories to pull together the ensemble seamlessly. Wear it correctly and athleisure works day-to-night, taking your sporty-chic look from morning meetings to lunch-hour spin class. Try Paco Rabanne’s Nadia Active Top with matching legging to power up for the office in the morning and take it to conquer your lunchtime barre class. Slay it at cocktails with Saint Laurent embellished high-tops and striped post-workout jacket from Kate Spade New York for Beyond Yoga. On the weekend, take brunch in Norma Kamali’s Tie-Front Long Sleeve Sport Shirt or Elie Tahari’s Serena Hooded Zip-Front Dress. You’ll feel almost less guilty having that extra mimosa knowing that you’re already dressed to burn it off. Athleisure not only blurs the clothing lines between what’s considered “normal” and “athletic,” but it’s also ever-evolving. Smart Fitness apparel, like Ralph Lauren’s Polotech Shirt, keeps track of stats like heart rate and sends data to your phone via Bluetooth. Fabrics with moisture-wicking technology keeps you cool and dry even in your toughest workout sessions. Rockin’ a wearable on your wrist? Deck out the Fitbit with a Tory Burch leather strap to count your steps with glam. With the hottest designers making fashion-forward active wear, everyone can use athleisure to benefit personal style and different lifestyles. Trends may come and go like sprinters, but Athleisure is here to win the marathon.

The city heat wave makes your face feel like it is a boat in an ocean as you fight to keep the make-up on board. Yet even though the slip and slide party seems wet enough, somehow your skin is thirstier than the half a million people who will be attending Burning Man this summer. So let’s lose the sweaters and heavy products and find out how we can get summer ready.
Get Naked When the heat kicks in, less is always more comfortable. Summer is the best time to skip those heavy foundations and go for a more natural look. If you aren’t willing to go bare, bb creams can give you just the right amount of natural glow creating the perfect peek a boo. For the best beauty tease, look for BB creams with broad spectrum SPF, antioxidants, anti-aging ingredients, and long lasting hydration. Or get sweet with it by purchasing a product made with pure honey, the latest buzzed about Korean BB cream ingredient.
We love these BB creams the most: Skinfood - Royal Honey Cover Bounce Cushion SPF 50+ Dr. Jart+ Illuminating BB Brush Broad Spectrum SPF 30 L’Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream,

How cosplay is becoming a big trend in New York. Article by: Samuel Hinke
Every Year New York Comicon has over 150,000 attendees at a much higher cosplay to casual wear ratio.
“
Wether you wanna be the sexy and stylish Nikki Minaj or the condescending and dreary Daria, cosplay has something for everyone. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
New York is one of the trendiest places in the world, and probably the most fashion forward in the US. It should come as little surprise then that new trends in fashion pop up daily, some being more popular than others. Among these countless trends is one that’s been growing in popularity for a while now; Cosplay. For those of you who do not recognize the word, Cosplay is derived from the words costume and play. It is the act of dressing up as a character from an anime, video game, manga, comic, cartoon, or person from popular culture, and has been gaining rapid popularity in the big apple. Don’t believe me? Just look at Katy Perry and Shannon Woodward who dressed up as the popular cartoon duo Jane Lane and Daria for Halloween 2012. They were able to express their friendship in a new way, and looked very stylish in doing so.
While many cosplayers take the time to painstakingly make their own outfits, there is a much simpler solution for the rest of us. Cosplay stores are popping up all over New York, and are almost as common as a Famous Ray’s pizza. The growing popularity of this trend has led to a vast increase in demand for such places. We can all recognize Nikki Minaj and Lady Gaga as titans of the fashion world, and maybe you want to share in that glory just a little bit. Whether you know it or not, dressing up as your favorite celeb is a form of Cosplay, and a growing trend since celebrities like these took the first bold step towards their own fashion style.
Every year New York is host to the largest fan convention in the United States (and fifth in the world); New York comicon. With over 150,000 attendees and a much higher cosplay to casual wear ratio, this event is the epitome of New York cosplay fashion. Several actors from critically acclaimed movies and TV shows make an appearance, often dressed as their own characters to see if they can fool their fans. Contests are held, and the amount of effort put into these events is nothing to sneeze at. Many people work hard on their cosplays, some even spending months to make their outfit look perfect. There are few contenders when it comes to the passion cosplayers feel for their fashion. Elucid Magazine Fashion
