Introdurre la storia di Jack and the Beanstalk, spiegando che il personaggio principale è Jack, un povero bambino che vive con sua madre. Sono molto poveri ma la loro vita cambia quando Jack incontra un vecchietto che gli da dieci fagioli magici. Nella storia c’è anche un cattivo gigante che vive in un splendido castello insieme alla moglie. Per non introdurre troppi nuovi vocaboli in una lezione si consiglia di fotocopiare e insegnare una pagina per volta soffermandosi sui nuovi vocaboli e sulle varie canzoncine proposte. Iniziare ogni lezione con un nuovo ascolto delle pagine precedenti e in un secondo tempo introdurre i nuovi vocaboli illustrati in alto. Far ripetere il nuovo lessico sia coralmente sia individualmente e riprendere con sistematicità i termini presentati nelle lezioni precedenti. Tutte le parole illustrate vengono sviluppate all’interno della storia. Il narratore della storia ha il compito di raccontare e guidare i bambini man mano che la storia prosegue. Il suo ruolo è di spiegare ai bambini in italiano ciò che sta accadendo e ciò che i personaggi dicono o cantano. Far ascoltare le canzoncine più volte prima di farle ripetere. I testi sono molto facili e soprattutto ripetitivi. Un’attività di chiusura, da svolgere sulla pagina illustrata, completa il lavoro di ogni pagina. Questi esercizi consolidano non soltanto le nuove parole viste nelle specifiche pagine, ma soprattutto le strutture e il lessico imparati durante l’anno. L’intera storia è registrata sull’audiocassetta che accompagna la guida didattica.
