Machining Automobile Crankshafts with the PM 2 / PMD 2 Standard features include 30 kW motor spindles for the grinding wheels and a workpiece headstock with a direct drive unit, as well as a stable tailstock and a linear motor for the X-axis. Emulsion or oil can be used as the cutting fluid for the grinding process. Thanks to the integrated oscillating stroke technology, pin and center bearings can be ground in a single clamping operation.

Main features of the PM 430 / PM 460

Machining Large Crankshafts with the PM 430 / PM 460 The PM 430 / PM 460 are fitted with linear motors and hydrostatic guideways in the X- and Z-axes to ensure maximum dynamics and excellent grinding results. The workpiece spindle is directly driven by a torque motor. Workpieces with a length of 3,000 mm or longer are powered from both sides. When using aluminum oxide, the grinding wheel is powered by a motor and belt drive. CBN grinding wheels are powered through a motor spindle. The fully cased machine is fitted with large automatic front doors, providing ­excellent access to the machining area.
