PROUD OF PAKISTAN An 18 year old Pakistani student, Muhammad Haroon Tariq, has broken the world record by securing a total of “forty seven As in both O Level and A Level International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations conducted by the University of Cambridge, U.K. A student of Froebel's
International School, Islamabad, Haroon Tariq's achievement has placed Pakistan in the global spotlight. Established in 1975, Froebel's is a domestic franchise of private schools with eight branches across Pakistan According to a handout issued by Froebel's International School (FIS), Haroon Tariq beat
the current world record, subjects spanning both the humanities and sciences such as Human & Social Biology, Islamic Religion & Culture, Physics, Chemistry, Global Development etc. Overall, Pakistani students bagged a plethora of As and A+s at the Edexcel in Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and International General
Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A Level examinations June 2013 session. In the O Levels, the previous world record was 28 As which was also held by a Pakistani student Zohaib Asad. However, Haroon Tariq obtained 38 As in O levels and a total of 47As in his O and A level exams. Record holder Haroon Tariq said his teachers were very supportive during his O and A level and their guidance took
him to this remarkable achievement as now he stands tall at top of the world. Such students make their country proud of them and such individuals creates a positive image of Pakistan. Surely whole country is proud of this young lad. We wish him all the best for his future and pray that he comes up with more world records.

Hello, I am MayaRenee Green and I will be 15 years old July 9th. I am currently signed with Manikin Models in Jacksonville/Orlando Florida and Slate Models in Orlando. I love to do benefits events, especially for the Lupus Foundation. My Father has had severe Systemic Lupus for about 12 years now. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can’t be seen on the person but it fights against your body when you are sick. I do modeling for my Dad because of his illness and what it does to him.
Modeling for me is a way of expressing my feelings and my emotions while wearing sometimes the most beautiful clothing and sometimes while wearing a fun & casual outfit. Modeling always makes me feel "free" while I am doing photo shoots or walking the runway, sort of in a "make believe fairyland! One day I will walk the runway in NYC and in Paris France. I know that 'IT WILL HAPPEN!'

W
ireless power or wireless energy transmission is the transmission of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without man-made conductors. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. The problem of wireless power transmission differs from that of wireless telecommunicat- ions, such as radio. In the latter, the proportion of energy received becomes critical only if it is too low for the
signal to be distinguished from the background noise. With wireless power, efficiency is the more significant parameter. A large part of the energy sent out by the generating plant must arrive at the receiver or receivers to make the system economical. The most common form of wireless power transmission is carried out using direct induction followed by resonant magnetic induction. Other methods under consideration are electromagnetic radiation in
the form of microwaves or lasers and electrical conduction through natural media. Wireless power transmission has been a dream since the days when Nikola Tesla imagined a world studded with enormous Tesla coils. But aside from advances in recharging electric toothbrushes, wireless power has so far failed to make significant inroads into consumer-level gear. This summer, Intel
researchers demonstrated a method--based on MIT research--for throwing electricity a distance of a few feet, without wires and without any dangers to bystanders (well, none that they know about yet). Intel calls the technology a wireless resonant energy link, and it works by sending a specific, 10-MHz signal through a coil of wire; a similar, nearby coil of wire resonates in tune with the frequency, causing electrons to flow through that coil too. Though the design is primitive, it can light up a 60-watt bulb with 70 percent efficiency. Numerous obstacles remain, the first of which is that the Intel project uses alternating current. To charge gadgets, we'd have to see a directcurrent version, and the size of the apparatus would have to be considerably smaller. Numerous regulatory hurdles would likely have to be cleared in commercializing such a system, and it would have to be thoroughly vetted for safety concerns. Assuming those all go reasonably well, such receiving circuitry could be
integrated into the back of your laptop screen in roughly the next six to eight years. It would then be a simple matter for your local airport or even Starbucks to embed the companion power transmitters right into the walls so you can get a quick charge without ever opening up your laptop bag.

alentine's Day is on February 14th and celebrated around the world to recognize the love you have for that special someone or spouse. Women absolutely love the surprises they receive on Valentine's Day while men on the other hand are typically only surprised to wake up realizing it is a holiday.. Valentine's Day is the second busiest holiday of the year for the makers of greeting cards and the saddest holiday of the year for all the single people not receiving any of them. Many people
throughout the world express their love with Valentine's Day gifts that range from romantic cards, beautiful flowers, and heart shaped boxes filled with candies. The history of Valentine's Day--and the story of its patron saint is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third
century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine
actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl--possibly his jailor's daughter--who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed "From your Valentine," an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and-most importantly--romantic figure. Valentine`s Day is a panicky time of year. We all like to think that we are reasonably hip and proficient in the romance department, but Valentine`s Day is put up or shut up time. And lovers remember disappointing VDays forever.

'Running On Concrete'
The fabulous thing about Running on concrete is that there not even a single cut but a continuous video with a mixture of glorious voice and creative arts, a brilliant performance of little star girls and an energetic crowded made this video crazy hit worldwide.
B
orn in Melbourne, Australia, it was evident at a very early age that Emmaline had an ear for music. As a toddler she would sit with her father listening to old records and trying to imitate the singers she loved like Etta James, the Beatles, Sinatra, Peggy Lee, and Nat King Cole to name a few. Writing Music since the young age of 16, Emmaline found out her gift was not only her voice but the way she knew how to relate to others and capture their hearts through her words. A graduate of NIDA's Singer Dancer Actor (musical theatre) course, Emmaline has also studied acting for camera and stage at the Actors College of Theatre and Television Sydney. With very few comparisons Emmaline stands in an original class of her own, leaving long lasting impressions on every ear that is fortunate to hear her music.
My new single is called 'Running On Concrete' was filmed in Brisbane Australia and the entire video was filmed in one shot! Very cool! We had planned to shoot on a very sunny day..it is summer after all but unfortunately on the day it rained..it really rained, and we were forced to film regardless on a day where we received the most rainfall of the year. What else can you do but laugh! But at the end of the day when we saw the footage we were so happy!! The rain actually made the video work better! The video was filmed by up and coming female director Keshia Smith. She also did my video for my songs Everygirl and Love and Understanding. She is so amazing to work with. I really made Running On Concrete for the fans! They really love this song! and i wanted to make a video that will put a smile on peoples faces and just make them happy. I definitely believe we succeeded in that. This video also has appearances by my mother and nieces so it makes it extra special to me, and makes me laugh even more when i watch it because i know how ridiculous they felt running around in the rain on the day.

R
enowned singer and youth icon Amanat Ali released his latest single 'Naina Laage' last week. The song was being looked forward to ever the song had been announced, because it featured the Pakistan idol rejected contestant Maria Meer. Maria Meer is the same young girl who stole the nation's heart with her simple but beautiful rendition of 'Sun Raha Hainna Tu' at the Pakistan Idol Faisalabad auditions but
unfortunately couldn't convince the judges to give her a chance. 'We're not really trying to challenge the judges or spark a controversy here but yes Maria is indeed immensely talented and has a bright future ahead of her' said Amanat's manager Omzee while speaking to the EMAL. After her rejection there was an outrage on social media with various pages and groups forming to support her. It was then announced on Amanat's
lways w talent. He in Maria started upporting
Facebook page that Amanat is giving her a break by recording a song with her. The video has been directed by Jovi, the song has been composed and musical arrangements been done by Ahsan Pervaiz Mehdi, mixed and mastered by Afzal Hussain. While it is a simple video which shows Amanat & Maria recording and practicing in a studio, it is the song which instantly grabs your attention. It is a semi classical song, where both Amanat and Maria have shown their
true potential. Maria is surely a star in the making; she doesn't sound like a debutante in the song and leaves a mark of her own. The song has gone viral on social media, TV channels and radio stations already, topping the charts all around. 'We're not really trying to challenge the judges or spark a controversy here but yes Maria is indeed immensely talented and has a bright future ahead of her' said Amanat's manager Omzee while speaking to the EMAL. 'Amanat has always supported new talent. He saw the
spark in Maria the moment he saw her audition. The support she gathered through social media is just a further proof of her talent. After her rejection, Maria's family met Amanat's father who started teaching her. Amanat also started training and supporting her. Currently she is under our management, receiving vocal training from Amanat. In the future we plan to get her to open shows for Amanat and support her in any other way that we can towards her road to successes'.

When asked about the much delayed second album of Amanat, Omzee said 'Well, there were a few hiccups along the way but I'm very happy to announce that our fans won't have to wait much longer now as the album is nearly complete and on its final stages. I would like to thank our fans who have always loved us unconditionally and supported us through all these years. We hope everyone likes the album and gets to see a new side of Amanat as a singer. I will not reveal much, but all I can say is the audience is in for a surprise with the next album. I hope they enjoy the album as much as we did while making it' said Omzee while signing off. Why did you decide to play that song with Maria Meer? Well, I saw Maria's audition on TV and was quite disappointed by her rejection. But I strongly believe in fate, and I guess she was meant to start off her career this way. I always like seeing new talent coming forward in our
industry. After seeing her audition I decided to track her down and train her myself. This is how I decided to play the song with her. The best thing is, she is now being trained by the person who trained me...my Dad. What is it about the way you play that song that makes it different than the other kinds? It's a semi classical song mixed with Pakistani folk style. It is not something heard a lot recently, and I personally enjoyed a lot making and recording it. What is the most trouble you've ever gotten into? Recently in Multan after a performance, a fan followed us to our car. He had the strangest request; to click a picture with me while I was dancing! It was late night, we were on the road, and surrounded by fans. I didn't know what to do, but eventually I gave in and let him click the picture while I was posing like I was dancing. Later the fan messaged me on Facebook thanking me for winning the bet he had put up with his friends!
Do you ever get nervous? I believe that every professional should feel a bit nervous, it's healthy. Once you lose the feeling, you start becoming overconfident and that stops professional growth.
nervous? I'd say, always be confident but humble. Determined but focused. And most importantly know your priorities right, nothing will be difficult then.
So, what's your favourite thing to do when you aren't writing/ producing/ playing etc? I like to spend time with my family whenever I get a chance.
Maria Meer
Any loves, other than music? I would love to be into acting if God gives me a chance, but only when I feel that I have achieved my goals as a singer. How do you balance your music with other obligations? I think balancing professional and personal life is something everyone has to learn. I try to give my family and friends enough time so that they don't feel neglected either. When that time comes, I don't take up any commitments. What advice would you give to beginners who are
Which famous musicians or singer do you admire & Why? Lata Jee is my inspiration, and then I also equally admire Noor Jehan Jee. And now, my guru and elder brother Amanat Ali who I think is the best vocalist from the younger lot right now. I have learnt a lot from him in a very short span of time since he started mentoring me. Who was your first teacher? Other teachers? My first teacher was Lata Jee whose music I grew up listening. Her voice built this passion inside me. After her, it is Amanat and his Dad who have been training me since I got rejected from Pakistan Idol. How do you handle
mistakes during a performance? I am still learning that, but I think if you handle your performance with sincerity you eventually get that grace to carry mistakes off too and audiences also ignore them. How often and for how long do you practice? I practise for around 3 to 4 hours daily, besides which I also listen to music a lot which helps me pick things up too. What are your fondest musical memories? In your house, neighbourhood or town?
When I was recording my first song with Amanat. The experience of recording in a professional studio was so exciting it was almost unreal. And of course the video shoot that we did right next day was a great exciting experience. I can never forget the feeling that I had. What will you comment about Amanat Ali? I think Amanat is a great singer; he has very strong and polished vocals mostly because music is a passion for him. He has grown up learning and listening to it, and his experience can be heard in his house. And one more thing that I would like to share is that we don't have versatile singers in Pakistan so the best thing about Amanat is that he can perform almost all genres.

TRIP TO EGYPT
J
an and I flew to Cairo, Egypt to join the Viking River Cruises Pharaohs and Pyramids Tour. We arrived at Cairo on the afternoon of September 17 and were escorted to the Sofitel El Gezirah hotel where we would spend our first three nights in Egypt. This hotel was situated on an island in the middle of the Nile River near the Egypt Opera House. We settled into the hotel and since we were on our own for dinner, we decided to eat dinner at the Sofitel Kababgy Restaurant which specializes in kebab dishes. After admiring the dinner that was served to the couple seated at a nearby table, we asked our waiter to provide the same dinner for us an Egyptian cold appetizer special and a hot mixed grill special. While we were enjoying the array of cold appetizer dishes, our waiter brought a portable grill to our table to keep the grilled chicken and lamb hot while we ate them. This was one of the best dinners that we had
while in Egypt. After a short orientation on the next morning, we boarded our bus and our first stop was at the Saqqara monuments (Saqqara is also frequently spelled as Sakkara). This is the home to the Step Pyramid and tombs of several Egyptian high priests. Our guide, Ahmed Wasfat, told us that the Step Pyramid is probably the oldest pyramid in Egypt. While visiting the pyramid, several local vendors had Jan pose on a donkey and had me pose on a camel with the pyramid in the background – they also took marvelous photos of us with Jan's camera for which we had to tip them handsomely. While at Saqqara, we also visited the tomb of the high priest Ka-Gmni Oyn VI and admired the colorful inscriptions within the tomb. Upon leaving Saqqara, we stopped at a “carpet
school” to see how Egyptian carpets are woven and of course, visited the carpet sales showroom where several people purchased some carpets. We then continued to a local restaurant for lunch and I was impressed by the
mechanical driven spits above a large bar-b-que pit. After lunch, we continued to Giza Plaza to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. We all had the opportunity to ride camels while viewing the pyramids and also more photo opportunities. We made two stops at the pyramids and a final stop close to the Sphinx. The Three Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerionos are the last of The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World to remain standing, and we were thrilled to finally visit them. We returned to the hotel and decided to skip an optional light show at the pyramids in favor of a buffet dinner at the hotel as part of the tour package. The dinner and buffet breakfasts that we had at the hotel as part of the tour package were all quite good. We departed the hotel early on the morning of September 19 to visit the Citadel and the Mosque of Mohammad
Ali which is situated within the Citadel. The Citadel is a prominent structure that was fortified by Saladin and his successors in the 12th century to protect against attacks by crusaders. Today the Citadel houses more than 60 mosques and the most famous among these is the Mosque of Mohammad Ali, built during the first half of the 19th century. It is sometimes called the Alabaster Mosque. Our bus took us from the Citidel to the Cairo Museum of Ancient Antiquities. The museum was our last scheduled tour stop for the day and was truly magnificent – a person could easily spend a couple of days wandering through it. Although we had previously seen two King Tut exhibitions at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, those exhibits only displayed a tiny portion of the
entire King Tut exhibit in Cairo. The King Tut exhibit was phenomenal! The other highlights of the museum were the two rooms with the Royal Mummies on display – the tour did not provide tickets to see the Royal mummies so we paid for our own admission. We rank the Royal Mummies as a display that should not be missed. In order to have more time at the museum, we abandoned our tour bus and chose to walk back to our hotel. It was an interesting walk along
the Nile in scorching heat and the hotel air conditioning was our reward at the end. That evening we elected to take the optional visit to the Khan el-Khalili Souk (bazaar) and to have an Egyptian dinner at a local restaurant within the bazaar. The meal at the restaurant was just average but the bazaar provided a wonderful unique look at Cairo and also should not be missed when visiting Cairo. After leaving the Dendara Temple, we proceeded to our cruise ship, the Movenpick M/S
Royal Lily to check in to our cabins and to have lunch.Viking River Cruises currently has its own ship being constructed on the Nile and booked space aboard the M/S Royal Lily which was operated by Movenpick Hotels for our Viking cruise from Luxor to Aswan. Although Movenpick hotels are usually pretty good, the “good ship Movenpick M/S Royal Lily proved to be a bit of a disappointment as the dining room staff appeared to be inexperienced and not properly trained and with some of the food being of marginal quality.
Aside from the food service situation, life aboard the Royal Lily was pleasant. After lunch we visited the Temple of Karnak and the Luxor Temple. Both of these temples are spectacular and are must see temples. After successfully landing the balloon and paying the tips to the local people who were photographed by the balloonists, we boarded the small vans and were driven to a parking lot adjacent to the statues of the Colossi of Memnon where we rejoined our Viking tour bus. We then visited the
Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Medinet Habu before returning to the ship for lunch. Cameras and photographs are forbidden within the Valley of the Kings but some very nice books are available for sale by the local vendors. Although our admission ticket included entry to three of the tombs within the valley, we had time to visit only two tombs due to long entry lines. The interiors of both tombs that we entered were magnificent and photos just do not do justice to these masterpieces. We
left the Valley of the Kings and co built for one of Egypt's female rul reconstructed. The last temple vis mortuary temple of Ramses III, and within the temple were superb.
We arrived Kom Ombo mid-afterno walked to the double temple of Kom god, and Horus, the falcon god – anot had a Galabya party and a belly dancer party (purchased from vendors who th We continued sailing and the ship had a while I was catching up on some much n Sebua sometime during the night. F
alse lashes can be a pain, not to mention time consuming! Here are a few ways to get the look without the hassle:
1. After curling your lashes, apply a thin layer of powder before applying your mascara. I just sweep a small blending brush across my compact and apply it to the top and bottom of my eyelashes. I've also heard that some people use baby powder, although I think they both have virtually the same effect; creating a base that makes them appear much fuller. 2. Apply two coats of mascara to the bottom and TOP side of your lashes, but wait 3-5 minutes in between each coat, otherwise they tend to get clumpy (not cute). 3. When applying your mascara, you don't want to just move your mascara wand from the base of your lashes up. Make sure you are moving the mascara wand back and forth while going up. The left and right motion will make sure every lash is covered entirely, all the way to the tip. 4. Almost done! Now, check your lashes for any gaps. Use the tip of your wand to apply another coat of mascara to individual lashes where they look sparse. Even better, use a fine tipped liquid eyeliner to fine tune and fill in any gaps

Test at Sharjah
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the third and final Test at Sharjah to level the three-match series 1-1. Set a daunting 302 on the final day, Pakistan romped home in 57.3 overs thanks to Azhar Ali's 103 and Misbah-ul Haq's unbeaten 68. Pakistan's openers gave the team a perfect start, hitting 35 in six and a half overs, before Shehzad lofting to deep square leg. But Sarfraz, promoted to No. 5, and Azhar swaggered along during their partnership of 89 in 14.5 overs. "It was easy for us once Sarfraz played that innings with Azhar, that was an important partnership and brought down the required run rate to almost 5.5," Misbah said. "They also cut down the target to 120something, so that was simple, we could continue
to play at the same rate. Don't let it go up run-aball, that was our main target. Nothing much was happening with the wicket so that was the target.
