When you heard your name being announced as the winner and that you shall be awarded, what were your feelings exactly on that very moment that all the hard work and dedication, finally turned out to be fruitful? When my name was announced as the winner, for a moment I could not believe that I have won. I won't be able to express that exact feeling in words. My heart is full but I have no words to express it. What are your other activities which you like? I like all kinds of sports with some action. I have trained myself with lot differently through time. Including kickboxing, Thai boxing, mma, capoeira, gymnastics but with the main focus on weight training. Has swum with sharks and going skydiving this summer. Like adrenaline. What would you suggest about the diet? When it comes to food as there are so many different opinions, investigations and diets. People get so hung up on how much calories contains everything etc. But remember that there is a difference between calories based on what it comes from. My best advice to those who want to get in shape is to eat healthy food but not hanging too much in calories. If it is possible for you to stay away from sugar, saturated fats and wheat products then so much have done. Diet is essential for a complete personality. Also if you want a fancy burger so go grab a burger but only for a one day, it is not like something you do every day and everything will be okay. Suggestions for beginners? My tip for those who want to train themselves should talk with skilled people in this sports EMAL

www.emalmag.com

so they can work properly from day one, so they ensure their results. Doing thing properly the first time is Important. If you want to do something then do it properly or not at all. And it does not matter how this looks to other people. If there is something, you should do it. What would you recommend for six packs? There are a number of factors to consider when training for a truly ripped six-pack. The abs have a higher percentage of slowtwitch muscle fibers than other skeletal muscle groups, but they still need heavy work in the lower rep ranges. Because the abs include so many different muscle groups, smart exercise selection is essential for complete development. Even the strongest abs can easily get covered by excess body fat, so an effective diet that cuts fat and spares muscle is essential. Cardio will speed your fat-loss efforts, but some kinds are superior to others. Abs workouts should get more challenging as you get stronger, so a true six-pack plan should have built-in progression.

PERSONAL TRI-COPTER FLY BIKE

COMMERCIAL PASSENGER SPACEFLIGHT

Having successfully completed the first flight, the team now plans to build a second prototype that would boast a similar design and features to that envisioned for the planned commercial model.

D

The goal of the flights will be to deliver four NASA or NASA-sponsored astronauts and 220 lb (100 kg) of cargo to the ISS, after which the spacecraft will remain at the station for up to 210 days, where it will act as a lifeboat in the event of an emergency.

C

ommercial passenger spaceflight has gone on the books with Boeing announcing that it's received the first contract ever issued to a private company to carry out a manned space mission. The NASA task order means that Boeing's CST-100 spacecraft will ferry crews to the International Space Station (ISS) on up to six missions. The order was awarded as part of the US$4.2 billion Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) contract with Boeing, which was selected in 2014 along with Space X's Crew Dragon to use privately developed and operated spacecraft to resume American manned space flights by 2017. NASA announced that Space X will receive its flight contract later this year and the question of which company will fly the first commercial crew rotation mission will be decided at a future date. The first flight is scheduled to launch in 2017, though this is contingent on the CST-100 or Crew Drason being certified for manned flight and the authorization of the necessary budget by the US Congress. The Boeing CST-100 is designed to carry up to seven passengers or a mixture of astronauts and cargo into Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). In addition to the ISS, CST-100 may also visit the privately developed Bigelow space habitat. It recently completed the fourth CCtP milestone called the delta integrated critical design review. "We're on track to fly in 2017 and this critical milestone moves us another step closer in fully maturing the CST-100 design," says John Mulholland, vice president of Commercial Programs. "Our integrated and measured approach to spacecraft design ensures quality performance, technical excellence and early risk mitigation.".

espite always generating plenty of interest, getting a personal flight vehicle off the ground can be a huge undertaking – just ask Malloy Aeronautics, which has been forced to scale its Hover bike down, selling aone-third-scale drone to raise funds to continue development of the larger, manned Hover bike. But a Hungarian team is looking onwards and upwards after having achieved the first manned flight of its Flike tri-copter concept demonstrator. In under a year, the team of flight enthusiasts at Bay Zoltan Nonprofit Ltd., a state-owned applied research institute in Hungary, has taken the concept of a personal flight tri-copter from the drawing board to its first manned flight at Miskolc Airfield in northeast Hungary on March 7. On the manned flight, the Flike (think fly-bike) concept demonstrator had a takeoff weight of 210 kg (463 lb) and only made it off the ground for a few seconds, but took off and landed safely. In a subsequent manned test flight, the Flike fly meters off the ground, and was able to demonstrate hovering and maneuvering capabilities while compensating for wind in a controlled flight lasting one and a half minutes.

The aircraft demonstrator features a Y6 layout, with six rotors paired in a coaxial arrangement that are directly driven by individual electric disc motors. These are powered by lithium polymer batteries, which the team says allow for around 15 to 20 minutes of hover flight or 30 to 40 minutes of cruise flight. Control is provided by altering the rotation speed of the individual rotors, allowing the Flike to perform in the air like a conventional helicopter, including the ability to hover, roll, bank, drift, yaw, climb, turn, sidle and dive. The team also hints at other flight capabilities that are "yet to be named". Thanks to its flight management computer that takes care of the craft's stability, lateral position and altitude, the development team claims flying the Flike will be as easy as riding a bike. They also claim the Flike is able to provide emergency lift to prevent a crash if one of the electric motors fails. Having successfully completed the first flight, the team now plans to build a second prototype that would boast a similar design and features to that envisioned for the planned commercial model. And commercialization is the ultimate goal, with the team aiming to spin off into a startup company for which it is actively seeking investors EMAL

LARRY FOGG TRIP TO SOUTH AMERICA

A

fter our Alaska cruise, I wanted to go to South America cruise around Cape Horn to hopefully see the magnificent Chilean Andes and glaciers along the Chilean Fjords. I booked the cruise aboard the Holland America ship, ZAANDAM. The cruise itinerary included Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; Port Stanley, Falkland Islands; the Strait of Magellan, Punta Arenus, Chile; Ushuaia, Argentina; Cape Horn; the Beagle Channel; the Chilean Fjords to Puerto Montt, Chile; and ending at Valparaiso, Chile.

seven-course dinner and was by far the very best meal that we ate during our entire South America trip. We boarded the ZAANDAM on Monday, 8 December 8, and settled into our cabin. While the ship remained docked at Buenos Aires, we enjoyed numerous shipboard activities and met two new friends, LaVonne and Bill. The ship arrived at Montevideo on Wednesday, 10 December, and we spent part of the day taking a self-guided walking tour of the city. After open-ocean sailing for the next two days, we arrived at Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, early morning on 13 December. The Falkland Islands are also referred to as Isla Malvinas. Jan decided to take a four-hour ship’s shore excursion with LaVonne and Bill to visit a Rockhoppper Penguin colony. The weather cooperated and she had a very good time with the penguins.

I had previously sailed from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Ushuaia, Argentina, on the tall ship bark EUROPA in 2008. I had also sailed from Ushuaia around Cape Horn and through the Chilean Fjords to Valparaiso on the EUROPA as part of the “Tall Ships Sailing Around South America” in 2010. Both of I opted to take a bus and explore the Gypsy Cove these trips aboard the EUROPA are area on my own. The landscape around the Gypsy previously documented on my website Cove area was magnificent – it was a combination (larryfoggtravels.com). of beautiful beaches, Magellan penguins, scenic We arrived at Buenos Aires on 5 December views from the hilltops, and interesting 2014. After checking into our hotel in the vegetation. One area called Ordnance Point had Palermo Soho District, we explored the remains of an artillery outpost overlooking the neighborhood street market area and harbor area of Port Stanley. Upon returning to admired some of the “local street art.” That Port Stanley, I walked along the waterfront from evening we went to dinner at Efimero Festin the dock to the Port Stanley Museum and Restaurant. Carolina is a marvelous After another day at sea, we entered the Strait of cook and our dinner was superb. Carolina Magellan and continued on to Punta Arenas, invited us to return for dinner on Sunday, 7 Chile. Upon arriving at Punta Arenas, Bill and December. The restaurant is closed on LaVonne joined us to hire a taxi to go to the Sundays but she cooked exclusively for us as cemetery. Upon arrival at the cemetery, I the only guests in the restaurant and we all instructed our taxi driver to wait for us near the ate dinner together. It was a marvelous entrance with the intention of paying him when

our tour was completed. I had visited the cemetery in 2010 and wanted to return to the gravestone where the last Onas, the extinct Fireland Natives, are buried. In addition, the cemetery is beautifully landscaped with beautiful mausoleums. When we returned to the cemetery entrance, we could not find our taxi driver anywhere and I had memorized only the last three letters of his taxi license plate. After searching in vain for our taxi driver, we decided to walk along the waterfront area back to downtown Punta Arenas. As we approached the waterfront road, we noticed the Cervecia Artesanal – Hernandes de Magallanes micro-brewery on the corner facing the Strait of Magellen. The brewery was open and we purchased two cold Hernandes de Magallanes Imperial Stout beers. The proprietor opened the bottles which we drank while sitting on a bench overlooking the Strait of Magellan. We later learned that this was the southern-most micro-brewery in Chile. We passed several beautiful monuments as we continued walking to the downtown area. We ate lunch a Chinese buffet restaurant where I had eaten in 2010 and used the restaurant wifi to catch up with our emails. It began raining while we were eating lunch and then began to clear up as we started walking back to the dock area. Upon entering the immigration area, we told the people about our taxi driver who did not wait for us and that we wanted to make sure that he received our money for the taxi fare. While we were telling them about our driver and the last three letters of the license plate, EMAL 25

LaVonne spotted our driver and we were able to pay him directly – all is well that ends well. After departing Punta Arenas, we sailed southbound through the Cockburn Channel and eastbound through the Beagle Channel to Ushuaia. Much to my surprise, as we disembarked at Ushuaia on the morning of 16 December, the tall ship bark EUROPA was docked immediately in front of the ZAANDAM. Since I had previously sailed a total of 127 days aboard the EUROPA, it was wonderful to see her again while she was there in between her annual Ushuaia to Antarctica voyages. We spent the day at Ushuaia before sailing during the night to Horn Island. It was raining while we sailed around Horn Island and Cape Horn during the morning of 17 December. Then, due to unfavorable weather reports, the crew decided to return to the Beagle Channel. We continued sailing westbound back through the Beagle Channel, northbound through the Cockburn Channel, and then northbound through some of the Chilean Fjords to Puerto Montt. Although we were able to see several glaciers as we sailed along the Beagle Channel, inclement weather prevented us from sailing through portions of the Chilean Fjords and precluded us from visiting a couple of glaciers en route to Puerto Montt that were annotated on the cruise route map. We arrived at Puerto Montt during the morning of 20 December. Prior to arriving at Puerto Montt, I was considering an excursion to the nearby lake and volcano. However, since the weather was partly cloudy with rain in the forecast, we began walking along the waterfront instead. We planned to walk toward the old downtown area and then backtrack to the fish market for lunch. Portions of Puerto Montt are colorful and the old church was very picturesque. As we were backtracking through the city, it began to rain. We tried to hail a taxi to go to the fish market but to no avail. Finally a local bus stopped and, as we got on, we asked the driver if it went near the fish market. He said yes and we continued on the bus until he stopped to let us off. The rain subsided to a light drizzle as we walked to the fish market. We ate lunch at a small restaurant on the second floor balcony with a view over the small bay. Our fresh seafood meal – consisting of pisco sour, ceviche, salmon, and abalone – was very good. The rain subsided while we ate lunch, and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon as we walked back past handcraft markets to the dock area.

Valparaiso, which is a very colorful and picturesque town. We took a Wally Tour 4 Tips walking tour of Valparaiso where we learned that because portions of Valparaiso have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, virtually no upkeep is being done in those portions of the city. The old town portion of the city has become much more rundown that it was when I visited in 2010. Street art in Valparaiso is also very colorful.

On Wednesday, 24 December, we rode a bus from Valparaiso to Santiago and took a local taxi to our bed and breakfast, Casa Moro, where also I stayed in 2010. Casa Moro is operated by After another ocean sailing day, we arrived at Walter and Marcelo and has been the number Valparaiso, Chile, and disembarked on one rated B&B in Santiago by Trip Advisor for Monday, 22 December. We spent two days in many years. EMAL

Since it was Christmas Eve, Walter recommended the Bella Vista Neighborhood area of Santiago as a place where we might be able to find a few open restaurants. We took the subway to Bella Vista and found many restaurants closed. We finally found one restaurant still open but getting ready to close. The waiter took pity on us and finally said that he would remain open for us. After taking our order, many more people converged on the restaurant and the waiter relented and remained open for business. I had advanced booked the Christmas 26

HAIR MASKS FOR HOT SUMMER

W

hen a new season arrives, it's time to freshen your look and adjust your beauty routine but summer is truly a tough time for our hair - it can easily become frizzy, dehydrated, and weathered by the sun. Sometimes you need an extra boost to maximize the benefits of the mask. Let's look at some tips for good hair care. Before combat the issues let's look at hair masks tips to maximize the benefits of a hair mask: Always apply the mask on shampooed hair. Just like you would apply a face pack to cleansed skin, apply the hair-mask to cleansed hair. The cleansed hair is more capable of absorbing the nutrients from the mask that unclean hair. Separate your hair into sections, and apply the mask from root to tip. The mask provides nutrition to the entire length of your hair and not just the tips or the roots. Sectioning ensures that you don't skip any surfaces. Tie your hair in a bun. This ensures that the mask stays on and doesn't drip off before you can get the full benefit of it. Wrap the hair with a shower cap, and leave for 15-30 minutes.

Hair Mask for Dry Hair: For all you beauties with the dry hair type, wouldn't you love your hair to be super manageable, soft, less frizzy and at the same time not weighed down. Take 4 tablespoons of honey and add 1 teaspoon of almond paste (4 skinned almonds blended with ½ tablespoon . rose water to it.)

Beat 2 tablespoon cream till its slightly fluffy. (You can substitute yoghurt with cream. The effect will be a little different.) Add it to the honey-almond combination. Mix this together, and apply it on the hair from root to the tip. Keep this paste on for at least 30 minutes (it is better if you keep this for about 1 hour) Then wash off thoroughly with cold water, so that the mixture is completely washed. Apply a light shampoo to wash the hair and let air-dry completely. Once that is done, you would have soft, fluffy and incredibly manageable hair.

Hair Mask for Oily Hair: A lot of people are afraid to use a mask on oily hair for the fear that it might become even oilier. This hair mask is specially made for oily hair and hence works perfectly. The idea behind a mask for oily hair is to find one that controls and reduces the secretion of oil and yet does not take away nutrition from your hair.
