HISTORIC VISIT OF CHINESE PRESIDENT XI JINPING TO PAKISTAN President Mamnoon Hussain Presented Chinese President Xi Jinping with top civil award Nishan-ePakistan in Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers, Members of National Assembly and Senate, Services Chiefs and Chinese delegation

oth the countries would conclude a number of important agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoUs) worth billions of dollars relating to key development projects in the infrastructure, energy and communication sectors under the ambit of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit where he has met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as the longtime allies look to boost trade ties. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif welcomed the Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife at the Prime Minister's House. Trade between China and Pakistan hit a 12-month figure of $12 billion for the first time last year, according to Islamabad, up 18 percent on the previous year, and the two sides are committed to raising this to $15 billion in the next two to three years. President Xi Jinping called the promotion of Pak-China friendship a part of the country's future agenda and termed the relationship as a joint-asset. He added that relations between the two countries were growing from strength to strength. Li, on his first overseas tour as premier, will hold talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan's caretaker prime minister on Wednesday before meeting Sharif on Thursday. "China and Pakistan hold the same position on regional and global issues," President Xi Jinping said. President Xi Jinping also mentioned how both countries had assisted each other during the evacuation of their citizens from Yemen. "Normally foreign visitors don't go to countries during the interim setups, but China has recognized that the visit to Pakistan is necessary even at this stage and that is why they have organized a separate one-on-one meeting with Nawaz Sharif," Fatemi told. Prime Minister Sharif stressed the resolve to take this relationship further calling China Pakistan's reliable and best friend. “The people of China have always welcomed us,” PM Sharif said. The visit is being termed as historic as the Chinese president is likely to kick-off several projects, including the long-awaited Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, on his long-awaited visit. Speaking to the members of Parliament, Xi Jinping extended best wishes to Pakistan for desired results from the agreements signed between the two countries. He expressed the confidence that Pakistan will be successful in overcoming all EMAL

challenges it is facing with the cooperation of China. Chinese president greatly appreciated Pakistan for their hospitality by saying that “I and my delegation have been overwhelmed with the warm welcome and generosity extended to us by Pakistan. Chinese president praised people of Pakistan by saying that “nation of Pakistan is kind, brave and courageous”. He said Pakistan's sacrifices in the fight against terrorism are exemplary. He also invited victims of Army Public School Peshawar that survived Taliban attack, to visit China. Highlighting the strong bond of friendship between the two countries, Xi Jinping said China and Pakistan have been of remarkable support to one another adding that both countries have stood by each other in hour of need. Acknowledging Pakistan's support to China, he said Pakistan is one of the first countries which recognized China and it was the first Islamic country to develop diplomatic relations with Beijing. “Pakistan's selfless and valuable support to China in difficult time is remarkable”, said Xi Jinping. “Our friendship is so unique that we have always supported each other on major issues”, he added. President of China said that both the countries always move together on all regional and international issues. “People of China have great respect for Pakistanis and they have very good wishes for the development and progress of Pakistan”, said Xi Jinping. “Our friendship is great asset for the future generations as both the countries are knotted in deep bonds of culture and civilizations”, he added. Chinese President told that Pakistan is the first foreign country he is visiting this year. Eight JF-17 Thunder aircraft of Pakistan Air Force escorted the plane of the Chinese President as he entered Pakistani airspace. A red carpet was rolled out and a 21-gun salute given to the dignitary as he arrived along with his wife and a high level delegation comprising CEOs from a wide spectrum of business houses of China. JF-17 aircraft also presented fly-past in honour of the Chinese President.

given that the motor producing the vibrations is located at the top of the phone. Android users can check out some of the games using Immersion's technology now in Google Play.
Games on Android phones are about to add a new dimension of gameplay. A San Jose, CA company called Immersion has created a way to add a layer of touch to your favorite mobile games, making it feel as though you're actually there. Through haptic feedback, the company can recreate the feeling of rain or a ball bouncing around on the screen, and even mimic how it feels to drive a car around the track. Those games will be featured in a new section of Google Play launching today called "Enhanced Gameplay," where Google highlights some of the best games that interact with a player on a haptic level. Haptics use the motor built into things like your mobile phone to create small vibrations that can add a level of realism to something like a movie or mobile game. In your smartphone, its technology triggers the actuator motor in the device right when you perform the triggering function, adding a new dimension to the gameplay experience. Immersion has worked with Rovio, Ubisoft and others to incorporate its technology into mobile games. Developers can implement the technology through the company's SDK, which has a number of built-in effects, or work with Immersion directly on creating a custom experience for their game. In a game like Angry Birds Friends, for instance, the technology allows you to feel the rubber band being pulled back on the slingshot and then feel blocks crashing down when you hit a structure. Games in the Enhanced Gameplay collection include:
SUSTAINABLE VERTICAL CITY ENVISIONED FOR THE SAHARA Parisian architecture firm OXO Architects, in association with Nicolas Laisné Associés, recently revealed its proposal for a futuristic mixed-use tower – or "vertical city" – that promotes sustainable high density living in the Sahara desert. The conceptual project calls for the tower to be run using renewable sources including rainwater collection, solar power, and geothermal energy. Bringing to mind XTU Architects' vision for a sustainable city in the Sahara, City Sand Tower is also best taken with a pinch of salt and is unlikely to be built. According to the concept, it rises to a height of 450 m (1,476 ft) or almost half a Burj Khalifa but has a much larger footprint than the Dubai skyscraper, giving it a total floor space of 78 hectares (192 acres). Inside the building, OXO Architects imagines a central inner tower covered with vegetation that serves as a vertical garden sheltered from the harsh desert conditions. Some 22 percent of City Sand Tower's usable floor space is given over to offices, while a hotel and a total of 600 housing units make up 17.5 percent and 15 percent of available floor space, respectively. Remaining space is taken up by a shopping center and conference rooms, sports area, museum, a spa, and a bar and restaurant. The tower also includes a meteorological observatory, while a heliport tops the building.
Angry Birds Friends by Rovio Entertainment Ltd., Archery Tournament and Basketball Tournament by Fat Bat Studios, Clouds & Sheep and Ninja Hero Cats by Handy Games, Drag Racing and Nitro Nation Stories by Creative Mobile, Fishing Superstars: Season 3 by GAMEVIL Inc, Hero Siege by Panic Art Studios, Orbital Free by bitforge Ltd, Solo Air by Coding Caveman, The Spookening by Modesty, Trials Frontier by Redlynx, a Ubisoft studio We had the opportunity to demo the technology earlier this week, and it's pretty impressive. One demo had six different types of balls, and you could switch between them and see how each felt as it bounced around the screen. There was a perceptible difference between the feeling of a basketball and a marble. Whats more, you could even tell where the virtual ball was on the screen when you looked away, an impressive feat
The sustainable technology slated for the build is very ambitious. According to the brief, up to 45,000 cubic meters (1,589,160 cubic ft) of rainwater would be collected annually in an area known for its aridity and used for various purposes. Most significantly, it would be injected roughly 4 km (2.4 miles) deep underground, at which point the earth's heat would turn the water into steam. This steam would then channeled to the surface somehow and used to power a generator that produces electricity and heats water for the tower's heating systems. The same rainwater would also be used to irrigate the internal vertical garden and for toilet needs, with grey water recycled too. Additional power would come from solar panels and the interior temperature would be partly managed using natural ventilation. The brief imagines work starting on the project in 2025, with construction phased over 50 years. EMAL 13

LARRY FOGG TRIP TO LONDON On Sunday morning, I went to the British Museum and spent quite a bit of time reexploring the antiquities section. It was interesting to find many Greek statues from around 500 BC that came from the ancient city of Didyma in Turkey – they once resided along a section of the ancient road that I visited in Didyma.

he last time I visited London was for a long weekend. With limited time available, I booked an all-day tour that included Runnymead, Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, the Cotswalds, and Bath. The tour bus had very few people aboard and we had a lady tour guide who was fantastic – she kept us all alert with her charming stories based upon her extensive knowledge of English history. After the tour, while they were taking me back to my hotel, she said her name was Berdette or Bernadette; that she was a librarian; and that her library would soon move to new facilities on Kilburn High Road near my hotel. She said that not many tourists stayed in the neighborhood and recommended a nearby restaurant. Following her instructions, I walked passed many small, nearly deserted restaurants arriving at her recommended restaurant which was packed with people. The food was delicious and relatively inexpensive. After I booked another long weekend trip to London , I decided to try to look up Berdette to say “Hello” and to see if she was still guiding weekend day tours. I located the address of the new Kilburn Library and Community Facilities on the Internet. Once I arrived at London Heathrow, I purchased a day pass for underground and took the train to my hotel in Fitzroy. After checking into my hotel, I took a quick walk through the neighborhood and then I headed off to buy a local London SIM card for my mobile phone and to find the Kilburn High Library. I arrived at the Kilburn High Library and a nice gentleman greeted me at the reception desk. As I was describing the lady tour guide with her vast knowledge of English history, he said that he knew who I was talking about, that her name was Berdette, and that she had died about a year ago from cancer. I was totally unprepared for that news and thanked him for his assistance. As I left the library, I decided to see if the restaurant was in business. It is called “Little Bay” and it was packed with local people – my late lunch was delicious.

Since I had never been inside Westminster Abbey, I went there on Saturday morning. After waiting my turn to purchase admission tickets, I decided to take the “Verger Guided Tour” of the Abbey. There were seven people signed up for my Verger tour and two additional people joined us at the first stop. The Verger tour provided access to areas that are not open to the public, and I thought the tour was very well done. After the Verger tour, I went back through the Abbey to spend some more time soaking up the history. Photographs are prohibited within the Abbey proper but are permitted in the Cloisters, Chapter House, and St. Margaret’s Church. The oldest door in Britain is situated in the vestibule of the Chapter House, and Chapter House is magnificent with wall paintings, stained glass, and mosaic floor tiles. As I left Westminster Abbey to visit St, Margaret’s Church, I found that admission to the church ended several Wellington Arches were constructed between 1826 and 1830 to commemorate Britain’s victories over Napoleonic France, They were originally conceived as grand entrances. minutes earlier – I guess I will need another visit to London to enter St. Margaret’s Church. I continued on to the Wellington Arch and to the Marble Arch. Both of these arches were constructed between 1826 and 1830 to commemorate Britain’s victories over Napoleonic France. They were originally conceived as grand entrances to Buckingham Palace and were subsequently disassembled and relocated to their present locations. On Sunday morning, I went to the British Museum and spent quite a bit of time re-exploring the antiquities section. I was interested to note that the English collection contained considerably more Greek antiquities than antiquities from Turkey. It was interesting to find many Greek statues from around 500 BC that came from the ancient city of Didyma in Turkey – they once resided along a section of the ancient road that I visited in Didyma in March 2008. After exploring the British Museum for several hours, I went to the London Wall near the Tower Underground Station. The London Wall was built by the Romans as a defensive wall around “Londinium,” a strategically important Roman town on the River Tames. A statue of Trajan has been erected in front of a section of the wall that still remains today. The weather had been beautiful from Friday through Sunday and I headed out to Heathrow on Monday morning for my flight home. EMAL

"One of my personal favorites is to tint the tips of lashes with a nontoxic black Sharpie, especially in the summer when the tips of lashes seem to bleach out or fade from sun and chlorine. Gently and carefully brush over the tips of lashes to darken them without adding any bulk or stickiness. Lashes look darker and longer and super natural with no mascara!"

"Put aluminum foil in the freezer. Once chilled, apply cold sheets of foil to your face. The cold foil will reduce puffiness and tighten pores." —Ramy Gafni, makeup artist, brow guru and founder of RAMY Beauty Therapy Cosmetics
02
"You can make your own concealer in a pinch by mixing a bit of translucent powder into liquid foundation to thicken it. This also works well if you do not like heavy concealer." —Ricky Wilson, celebrity makeup artist, Dior Beauty
03
"If you have dry, sensitive or dull-looking skin, you can use raw honey as a facial mask. Raw, unpasteurized honey contains mild alpha hydroxy acids, such as gluconic acid, which can exfoliate, promote collagen renewal and increase elasticity. Not only does raw honey exfoliate, the natural sugar in it retains moisture. Slather raw honey all over your face as a mask and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry." —Ashley Rebecca, makeup artist

"Eyebrows should start soft in color, become dark in the middle (arch) and then again become lighter at the end. Brows should not be the exact same color and strength through the entire brow. It's good to use your choice of pencil or powder, and then go back with a lighter powder and sweep through on top. This will highlight the brow hair as your natural hair is highlighted by light." —Jeffrey Tasker, makeup artist and Laura Mercier Global Artist
Take regular eyelash curler and heat it with a blow-dryer for about five seconds. Test the curler on your hand before using it on your eye. The heat acts like a curling iron on your eyelash hairs and gives even the straightest lashes staying power. But remember; use waterproof mascara first before using a heated curler of any type. This works to help keep the curl. It's like hair spraying your hair before using a curling iron." —Cynthia Rose, makeup artist
—Raychel Wade, makeup artist and La Prairie Colour Ambassador
08
"To add extra volume and drama to eyelashes you have to start off by curling them. Then apply a coat of mascara to each eye, and add a light layer of loose powder using a brush across the entire top and bottom lashes. Give it a few seconds and apply a second layer of mascara. Repeat these steps until you achieve your desired effect." —Niko Lopez, NARS National Makeup Stylist

"Want sky-high voluminous lashes? Here's insider trick. When applying mascara, use a playing card as a guide. It sounds crazy. But trust me, it works! First, cut an arc in the card. Then place it against your eyelid so that the cutout portion is against your lash line and your lashes are in front of the card. This trick allows you to add some major oomph to volumize your lashes without creating a mess and getting mascara onto your lids! Next hold the wand vertically against your bottom lashes and sweep mascara onto your lower and inner lashes. Lastly, using a clean spoolie brush with soft bristles, comb through to separate the lashes without clumping your mascara, and direct those luscious lashes exactly where you want them to be." —Mally Roncal, makeup artist and founder of Mally Beauty

"When putting mascara on, start with the bottom lashes. Most people put mascara on their top lashes first, and then tilt their head down to do the bottom ones. The problem is usually the mascara isn't quite dry yet and you end up with little black dots all over your beautifully applied eye shadow. Doing it in reverse order assures a mess-proof application."

"Having trouble with mascara smudging and flaking, but you don't want to damage your delicate lashes with waterproof mascara every day? Many women put a clear coat over their manicure to protect it. Why not do the same with your mascara? Let you favorite mascara dry completely, and then put a coat of clear mascara over the top. This simple extra step will eliminate flakes, and your mascara won't budge or smudge until you take it off!" —Kevin James Bennett, makeup artist
"Powdering the eyelashes prior to applying mascara helps mascara to go on in a more feathery, non clumpy way."

“"Put a heavy layer of Vaseline around the eyes when flying, and keep the dark sunglasses on. This will keep eyes hydrated on long flights. Just remember to blend before landing."
17
“"If you say smoky eyes, most people think black. But it's actually a shading technique, not a color. You can use any color combination of light to dark to achieve a smoky look once you have this sexy routine down. The first rule of thumb is to apply all shadow from bottom to top; start at the lash line and blend upward. You want to layer on the lightest shade first, from the natural crease of your eye to just under the brow bone. Then build on this base with a deeper color along your top and bottom lash lines. Finish the look by lining the inner rim of your eyes with a creamy, smudgy liner pencil, and top with a generous coat of mascara." —Lori Taylor, makeup artist and Smashbox Pro Lead Artist
18
"Most women line their lips by applying liner starting from one corner and going in a circle. But they don't realize this actually makes their lips look asymmetrical. In order to properly line your lips, start by lining the very center of the top and bottom lips, and then the outer corners of the top and bottom lips. Connect the lines starting from the outer corners, and drawing in one fluid motion for each section to the center of the top and bottom lips. Finish by filling in the entire lip with liner." —Jessie Powers, Make Up For Ever artist

—Tim Quinn, celebrity makeup artist and Giorgio Armani Beauty Face Designer

"The secret to perfectly blending eye shadows is to prep lids with loose powder first. This will allow the colors you place on top blend smoothly and flawlessly." —Janice Daoud, NARS National Makeup Stylist

Mixing skin care into makeup, to alter the beauty looks slightly. This season, took rejuvenating serum and rubbed it into eye shadow on eyelids for a luminous, lived-in look." —Romy Soleimani, makeup artist and beauty director
16
"Applying bright cream blush under tinted moisturizer or liquid foundation will give cheeks that beautiful, flushing, radiant-from-within look. Use bright raspberry cream blush underneath liquid foundation. Go more with the blush at first, since it'll be blended down after."
"To flatten fly away, spray hair spray in your hand, and then rub your hands onto the actual can of hair spray while they are still damp. Then quickly (so it doesn't dry) use the can as a rolling pin from the center of the head down, which will create a smoothing effect and flatten the fly away while distributing the hair spray." —Rodney Cutler, celebrity hairstylist and Redken Brand Ambassador
20
"After securing your ponytail, squeeze a little gel on a hard toothbrush and comb it along the hairline in the same direction that the hair is pulled backed in to keep the hairline looking really clean and stay that way. The toothbrush should be cheap, as they are harder and have straight bristles." —Jenny Balding, hairstylist and Redken Styling and Grooming Expert
