BARACK OBAMA JOINS MARK ZUCKERBERG CEO FACEBOOK 'Entrepreneurship is a fundamental American value. It's also a force for good that unlocks opportunity for people here at home and around the world' Said Barack Obama , President of United states. But wherever you are, starting your own business isn't easy. It takes access to capital, the right networks, and good mentors. That's why successful entrepreneurs have a unique responsibility to reach back and help those hoping to follow in their footsteps. Few understand this better than Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. We just had a pretty great conversation with some young entrepreneurs from across the globe and now I'm joining him one-on-one to discuss how we can enable budding entrepreneurs - especially women, youth, and minorities - to connect with new audiences, build new partnerships, and unleash their full potential.

ook quickly at the all-new Kode57, and you'll swearyou'relookingat a Ferrari...youjustwon't beabletorecalltheexactmodelname.TheEnzo? Nope, this is a wide-open roadster. Maybe the all-new LaFerrari convertible? No, not quite. A Pininfarina concept car I never saw before? Getting warmer. The Kode57 is the handiwork of designer Ken Okuyama, former design director at Pininfarina. The aggressive roadster borrows freely from Okuyama's past work, including the Ferrari Enzo and 2000 Pininfarina Ferrari Rossa. Okuyama has as impressive a sports car design background as you're likely to find, having been involved with everything from the Corvette (C5), to the Porsche 911 (996), to the Enzo, to the Maserati Birdcage 75th. Nowadays he designs stylish cars all his own. Okuyama callshiseponymouscompanytheonlycarrozzeria(coach builder) in Japan, and he not only penned the Kode57 at his Tokyo studio but built it out by hand at his Yamagata factory. The company celebrates its 10th anniversary nextyearandnowboastsateamof50. Many a Ferrari lover will have trouble thinking anything but "Enzo" when viewing that triangular hood and tripleboxfrontend,buttheKode57morecloselyresemblesthe lesser-knownRossaconcept.Infact,youcan'tmoveyour eye around the car without immediately stumbling on something inspired by the Rossa – the long, elegant hood leapingforthfromtherearquarters,thecarved-outfront fenders and side fins, the engine cutout in the hood, the low, rimless glass, and right into the neatly partitioned two-seatinterior. Okuyama doesn't attempt to hide this self-inspiration, mentioningboththeFerrariEnzoandPininfarinaRossain the opening paragraph of the Kode57 announcement. And his ideas have certainly evolved. Okuyama's latest masterpiece borrows from the past in looking toward the future. Officially, he calls it an homage to 1957, which he defines as a banner year in racing and car making, a year that included the introduction of the always-coveted, auction record-smashing Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. The Kode57's small, suicide-by-scissor doors rest inside shallow frames, undoubtedly a nod to the small (or nonexistent) doors of classic barchettas. When the doors are both open, the car has an even morestrikingappearancethanbefore. Beyond those wings, the simple but welldressed interior includes centrally mounted instruments, sport seats with harnesses, and leather and Ultrasuede upholstery. It's a pretty spartan, trackinspiredinterior, butitdoesincludemodern comforts like air conditioning and electric seatadjustment. Some outlets have reported that it is indeed all 599 below, but we don't see it confirmed by Okuyama himself. A 599 base would tie the car even more closely to the Rossa and
Enzo, as the former was based on the 550 Maranello, a direct 599 predecessor, and the latter's engine served as the basis of the 599's. Ken Okuyama Cars will produce no more than five Kode57s. Reports put the price around US$2.5 million and boxer Floyd Mayweather among the buyers. THE BEST DECORATING TIPS FROM TOP DESIGNERS These tricks from top designers take good design to the next level.
BUY TWO GREAT PIECES A YEAR Rather than renovating your home a l l a t o n c e , Tr i p H a e n i s c h recommends you buy two quality pieces you love every year. "Good things hold their value, and in ten years you will have a beautiful collection of twenty things," Haenisch explains.
INVEST WHERE IT MATTERS If you're on a budget, invest in the pieces that anchor a room. "It wouldn't be a bedroom without a bed, it wouldn't be a living room without a sofa, and it wouldn't be a dining room without a dining table," Thom Filicia advises.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK ...Especially before vintage shopping. Emily Eberhart of Viyet recommends researching how similar items of interest are priced or have sold.

LET THE LIGHT BE YOUR GUIDE When you're painting a room, Joa Studholme of Farrow & Ball suggests you consider the direction of sunlight. Use bright colors in North facing rooms, which tend to be darker, and create a warm glow in a West facing room with pink or a redbased neutral. In South and Eastfacing rooms, opt for blue or white.
GO DARK IN DIM PLACES Paint a room that doesn't get a lot of natural light a saturated color. "Adding some pigment makes the space feel intentionally moody and romantic," adds Orlando Soria, West Coast Creative Director of Homepolish.
ADD FRUIT Fresh fruit isn't just a great snack – it adds vibrant color to a room. James Tabb of Laurel & Wolf creates a centerpiece with fresh fruit to bring vibrant color to the kitchen.

BRING OUT DOOR FABRIC IN
Grant K. Gibson suggests using outdoor fabric for indoor furniture to safeguard against stains and enhance durability, especially if you have kids or pets in the house.
SCALE TO YOUR SOFA It's so simple, you'll kick yourself for not thinking of Emily Henderson's rule yourself: A large room should have large furniture, medium rooms should have medium-sized furniture, and small rooms, (you guessed it) should have more petite furniture. Scale the rest of the furniture to your sofa.
PRACTICE BEFORE YOU PAINT “When initially loading your roller with paint, make sure the roller nap is fully and equally saturated," John Hoskins, Vice President of BEHR Paint says. Before you begin painting, test the roller on an extra piece of board to ensure it applies smoothly and evenly.

EMAL Magazine Official Media Partner
Dressed in a three-piece grey suit and open neck white shirt, Geoff Cox is staring attentively at his computer monitor and talking on his desk phone as I enter the open plan office suite occupied by the Top Model team. The wall behind him is adorned with an impressive triple set of original Pop Art paintings featuring the fashion icon Twiggy. He catches me gazing and smiles. Finishing his conversation, he informs me that the artwork was a 'Thank You' gift. No doubt one of many gifts he has received from appreciative designers who have crossed his path during his 16 years in the Fashion Industry. Celebrated Show Producer Geoff Cox is a Director and founder member of the hugely popular Top Model UK and Top Model Worldwide model search competitions, which are now entering their 10th Anniversary season. He is also responsible for the impressive Fashion International show brand, which produces multidesigner and solo runway shows featuring emerging and established designers during London Fashion Week. I had been looking forward to interviewing the Fashion and Model industry mogul for some time as he is rather elusive and rarely gives interviews. "My work is all about creating genuine opportunities for the Designers and Models that I work with and not about me", he explains in response to my opening question. "The industry is awash with self-publicists who put their own interests and egos before those they claim to represent. I prefer to keep in the background and give the spotlight to the people I work with". He is certainly true to his word. My pre-interview research revealed the names and profiles of dozens, if not hundreds, of models and designers whose careers he has helped launch or develop through his various projects. "I love what I do and I hope that shows in my work, but

it's very much a team effort". Once again, he deflects the attention away from himself. "I'm very blessed to have a fabulous team around me that's been put together over time and I'm very proud of our proven track record". He added, "There's no better feeling than plucking a designer or young model from obscurity, see them develop and then appear on a major Fashion Week runway or be featured in Vogue". Geoff Cox originally worked as a broadcast journalist in breakfast television and it shows. He's a tough-talker but very articulate and confident with his answers and his body language is very open. He also seems unusually relaxed for a man in such a high-pressure role. I ask him about this. "My role is to coordinate and oversee every detail of our shows and events, so there's no point in me getting stressed as it will affect the performance of those around me. At the end of the day, I am my biggest critic and the buck stops with me, a responsibility that I take very seriously. He added, "I've been to many, many shows that run late, the staff are flapping, the final presentation is sloppy and I can hear people shouting backstage. The attention to detail is often not what it should be and it's simply not good enough. Lots of people produce fashion shows but very few do them well". I follow on from this by asking him what makes the Fashion International shows so different? "Every season we are looking to improve and build, set new standards where we can and deliver on our promises. We use a fabulous award-winning venue, the Amba Charing Cross Hotel on the Strand, and no other independent LFW show producer can offer designers what we do as part of our all-inclusive show packages. The fact that we are also able to keep the participation cost so competitively low is an added bonus". It becomes clear that I'm in the company of an honest, personable, experienced professional, and there is also no doubt in my mind why his shows and events continue to be popular with both the Designers taking part and the watching media. Geoff Cox was interviewed for EMAL magazine by Bronte Huskinson, author of the acclaimed model industry novel 'Never Mind My Thigh Gap' available from Amazon and all good book stores.

L ARRY F OGG TRIP TO CAIRO, EGYPT J
an and I flew to Cairo, Egypt, on September 16, 2010, to join the Viking River Cruises Pharaohs and Pyramids Tour. We arrived at Cairo on the afternoon of September 17 and were escorted to the Sofitel El Gezirah hotel where we would spend our first three nights in Egypt. This hotel was situated on an island in the middle of the Nile River near the Egypt Opera House. We settled into the hotel and since we were on our own for dinner, we decided to eat dinner at the Sofitel Kababgy Restaurant which specializes in kebab dishes. After admiring the dinner that was served to the couple seated at a nearby table, we asked our waiter to provide the same dinner for us – an Egyptian cold appetizer special and a hot mixed grill special. While we were enjoying the array of cold appetizer dishes, our waiter brought a portable grill to our table to keep the grilled chicken and lamb hot while we ate them. This was one of the best dinners that we had while in Egypt. After a short orientation on the morning of September 18, we boarded our bus and our first stop was at the Saqqara monuments (Saqqara is also frequently spelled as Sakkara). This is the home to the Step Pyramid and tombs of several Egyptian high priests. Our guide, Ahmed Wasfat, told us that the Step Pyramid is probably the oldest pyramid in Egypt. While visiting the pyramid, several local vendors had Jan pose on a donkey and had me pose on a camel with the pyramid in the background – they also took marvelous photos of us with Jan’s camera for which we had to tip them handsomely. While at Saqqara, we also visited the tomb of the high priest Ka-Gmni Oyn VI and admired the colorful inscriptions within the tomb. Upon leaving Saqqara, we stopped at a “carpet school” to see how Egyptian carpets are woven and of course, visited the carpet sales showroom where several people purchased some carpets. We then continued to a local restaurant for lunch and I was impressed by the mechanical driven spits above a large bar-b-que pit. After lunch, we continued to Giza Plaza to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. We all had the opportunity to ride camels while viewing the pyramids and also more photo opportunities. We made two stops at the pyramids and a final stop close to the Sphinx. The Three Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerionos are the last of The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World to remain standing, and we were thrilled to finally visit them. We returned to the hotel and decided to skip an optional light show at the pyramids in favor of a buffet dinner at the hotel as part of the tour package. The dinner and buffet breakfasts that we had at the hotel as part of the tour package were all quite good. We departed the hotel early on the morning of September 19 to visit the Citadel and the Mosque of
32 EMAL MaGazine
Mohammad Ali which is situated within the Citadel. The Citadel is a prominent structure that was fortified by Saladin and his successors in the 12th century to protect against attacks by crusaders. Today the Citadel houses more than 60 mosques and the most famous among these is the Mosque of Mohammad Ali, built during the first half of the 19th century. It is sometimes called the Alabaster Mosque. Our bus took us from the Citidel to the Cairo Museum of Ancient Antiquities. The museum was our last scheduled tour stop for the day and was truly magnificent – a person could easily spend a couple of days wandering through it. Although we had previously seen two King Tut exhibitions at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, those exhibits only displayed a tiny portion of the entire King Tut exhibit in Cairo. The King Tut exhibit was phenomenal! The other highlights of the museum were the two rooms with the Royal Mummies on display – the tour did not provide tickets to see the Royal mummies so we paid for our own admission. We rank the Royal Mummies as a display that should not be missed. In order to have more time at the museum, we abandoned our tour bus and chose to walk back to our hotel. It was an interesting walk along the Nile in scorching heat and the hotel air conditioning was our reward at the end. That evening we elected to take the optional visit to the Khan el-Khalili Souk (bazaar) and to have an Egyptian dinner at a local restaurant within the bazaar. The meal at the restaurant was just average but the bazaar provided a

wonderful unique look at Cairo and also should not be missed when visiting Cairo. We received our wake-up call at 4:00 AM on the morning of September 20 in order to fly to Luxor and arrive there in time to do some serious temple tours. Upon arrival at Luxor, our bus took us to visit the Dendara Temple. Ahmed told us that many tour groups do not visit this particular temple and that Viking added it as an extra visit. We were impressed by the carvings and colors within the temple. The Egypt Air inflight magazine had a feature article on this temple as part of the celebration of the Egyptian New Year 6252 which began around September 11. One carving on the ceiling of a small second story temple structure is the Dendara Zodiac – it is a circular rock carving that contains the signs of the zodiac alongside another carving of a lady who swallows the sun each night and gives birth to a new sun each morning. Another small ceiling near the back of the ground floor cubicles depicts this lady and the sun in vivid colors. This temple exceeded my expectations for the temples along the Nile and set the stage for many exquisite temple visitations to follow.
after what I’ve just said!) in souvenir shops, markets, taxis. Within reasonable limits, bargaining in Egypt’s souvenir markets is a nice way to start a conversation, and is expected. Dress modestly and not too extravagant. Ask directions from at least three different people (to be sure you have the right information). Sometimes people try to help even if they don’t know the place. Take taxis rather than public transportation, especially for women. Take off your shoes and cover your head (for women) when you enter a mosque. Spend time talking to the people. Egyptians are interesting, kind and have a great sense of humor. You will learn from them as they will learn from you—it is always a rich exchange. Don’t miss out on that!

After leaving the Dendara Temple, we proceeded to our cruise ship, the Movenpick M/S Royal Lily to check in to our cabins and to have lunch. Viking River Cruises currently has its own ship being constructed on the Nile and booked space aboard the M/S Royal Lily which was operated by Movenpick Hotels for our Viking cruise from Luxor to Aswan. Although Movenpick hotels are usually pretty good, the “good ship Movenpick M/S Royal Lily” proved to be a bit of a disappointment as the dining room staff appeared to be inexperienced and not properly trained and with some of the food being of marginal quality. Aside from the food service situation, life aboard the Royal Lily was pleasant. After lunch we visited the Temple of Karnak and the Luxor Temple. Both of these temples are spectacular and are must see temples. We woke up early the following morning in order to meet the 5:10 AM optional hot air balloon excursion to the West Bank. We boarded a small ship which took us downstream on the Nile and across to the West Bank where we boarded small vans that transported us to the hot air balloon launch site. The hot air balloons were very popular and soon quite a few balloons were in the air gliding over the Luxor Valley on the West Bank with several temple sites including the Hatshepsut Temple visible below. We watched the sun rise over the Nile and landed on a small road a relatively short distance from where we initially ascended in our balloon. The balloon ride was interesting and the baskets were rectangular so that every participant had an unobstructed view over the side – it was well worth the extra cost. After successfully landing the balloon and paying the tips to the local people who were photographed by the balloonists, we boarded the small vans and were driven to a parking lot adjacent to the statues of the Colossi of Memnon where we rejoined our Viking tour bus. We then visited the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Medinet Habu before returning to the ship for lunch. Cameras and photographs are forbidden within the Valley of the Kings but some very nice books are available for sale by the local vendors. Although our admission ticket included entry to three of the tombs within the valley, we had time to visit only two tombs due to long entry lines. The interiors of both tombs that we entered were magnificent and photos just do not do justice to these masterpieces. We left the Valley of the Kings and continued on to the Temple of Hatshepsut, built for one of Egypt’s female rulers, and which has largely been reconstructed. The last temple visitation at Luxor was Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramses III, and it was spectacular. The carvings and colors within the temple were superb. At 1:30 PM on September 21 we set sail up the Nile to Edfu and sailed through a lock during late afternoon. We reached Edfu sometime during the night and after breakfast on the 22nd, we boarded a bus to visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu. Large crowds of people beat us to the temple and we had to contend with crowd gridlock within the inner temple sanctuaries. This temple was also superb with magnificent rock carvings. A highlight of this temple is a rock carved boat within the inner sanctuary that must be viewed through a doorway – this doorway was nearly impossible to reach during our visit due to the masses of people within the temple. Back on the ship, we continued sailing upstream to Kom Ombo while a tour of the ship’s bridge, engine room and kitchen was offered before lunch for interested passengers – Jan took the tour and I passed on it. We arrived Kom Ombo mid-afternoon and had a shore excursion where we walked to the double temple of Kom

Ombo dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god – another spectacular temple. That evening the ship had a Galabya party and a belly dancer – Jan wore her new white Galabya to the party (purchased from vendors who threw them onto the ship from small boats). We reached Aswan during the night and after breakfast on September 23, we took a small boat to the island of Philae where the Temple of Isis had been relocated and reconstructed during the construction of the Aswan High Dam during the 1960s. By then we had come to expect that our temple visitations would only occur at the finest temples in the region, and the Temple of Isis was no exception – it was a splendid temple. The small boat traffic and docking congestion made this temple excursion somewhat unique. Our next stop was at the Aswan Nubian Museum which presented a good overview of the Aswan High Dam construction, the affected area to become Lake Nasser and the relocation efforts by many countries worldwide to relocate temples to high ground that would otherwise have become submerged by the rising waters of Lake Nasser. In fact, all of the temples that we would visit alongside Lake Nasser had been relocated to higher ground. The museum also had some wonderful statues and other Egyptian artifacts on display. Later in the afternoon, we were taken to a dock on the Nile below the old low dam constructed by the British in 1902. We boarded a Felucca sailing ship for a short sailing voyage to experience a traditional wooden sailing ship of the Nile. The voyage took us around several small islands in the Nile river and Ahmed pointed out several landmarks including the famous Old Cataract Hotel and the Mausoleum of Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of Ismali Muslims. For our last night aboard the Royal Lily, the ship hosted a “Nubian party” with entertainment provided by local Nubians – the entertainers were very good and of course, they pulled in some members of the audience for added participation. We disembarked from the Royal Lily on the morning of September 24 and flew to Abu Simbel aboard a DC-9-31 aircraft operated by Air Memphis with our tour group as the only passengers on board. After arriving at Abu Simbel, we boarded our Lake Nasser cruising ship, the Movenpick M/S Prince Abbas – a somewhat older vessel than the Royal Lily. Our Prince Abbas cabin was smaller than our Royal Lily cabin but the Prince Abbas food was by far superior and the food service was much more professional compared to the food service aboard the Royal Lily. After lunch, we walked to the Temples of Abu Simbel which were relocated and reconstructed on higher ground during the construction of the high dam. The Abu Simbel temples were simply amazing and are dominated by the great Temple of Ramses II with the 60 feet tall statues of Ramses with his queen and daughters at his feet at the front of the temple. The original temple was situated such that on two days every year it would capture the rising sun’s glow as it reached the interior of the temple sanctuary – the relocated temple is similarily situated to continue to capture the sun’s glow on February 22 (Ramses II’s birthday) and October 22 (his coronation day). Photography within the temples was forbidden. We opted to go to the optional sound and light show that evening and the temples at night were magnificent. The following morning, September 25, the captain of the Prince Abbas sailed in front of the temples to provide us with the ultimate photo opportunity of the Abu Simbel temples glistening in the early morning sun. We then set our course to the north and sailed to view the temple of Qasr Ibrim, perched on top of a small island where landings have been prohibited by the Egyptian Government – our “temple sail-by” provided ample views of this small temple. We continued sailing to Amada and, after lunch, we visited the two temples at Amada via a small
motorboat and walked to the temples. These temples exceeded our expectations and after visiting the second temple several local people appeared with a couple of small Nile crocodiles. I couldn’t resist the possibility to get my hands on a crocodile and one of the locals placed the larger crocodile in my outstretched hands. While people were busy photographing me with my crocodile the other person amused himself by placing the smaller croc first on top of my hat and then over my left shoulder – I was not intimidated by the second croc over my shoulder and it provided people with a few good photos. We continued sailing and the ship had a Nubian show that evening which Jan attended while I was catching up on some much needed sleep in our cabin. We arrived at Wadi El Sebua sometime during the night. After breakfast on September 26, we visited two temples at Wadi El Sebua via a small motorboat. Once ashore, we walked to the first temple and had the choice of walking about one mile to visit the second temple or taking our last opportunity to ride a camel to the second temple – Jan and I opted for the camel ride. Both temples also exceeded our expectations and as we walked back toward the beach to board our motorboat to return to the ship, a local person arrived who had a Nile crocodile for folks to view. It was somewhat larger than the bigger crocodile that experienced the day before at Amada. Once again, I reached out and the crocodile was given to me. After people took a few photographs, I passed the crocodile to Jan who after some photos passed it to Mayuri from Florida for the photo finale. It would be our last encounter with Nile crocodiles during our cruise on Lake Nasser. As we continued sailing southbound, we viewed the film “Documentary film on the Nubian Monument Salvation” which documented the enormous undertaking by many countries world-wide to relocate many of the Nubian temples that would soon be gobbled-up by Lake Nasser during the 1960s. Ahmed gave a lecture about the Muslim religion and Egypt which was very good followed by a lively question and answer session. We arrived at Aswan that evening to complete our cruise of Lake Nasser. On the morning of September 27, we made our final temple visit by taking a small motorboat to the Temple of Kalabasa which was the largest free-standing Nubian temple – it was dedicated to Isis and the Nubian solar and fertility deity, Madulis. Construction began on this temple in 23 AD by the Roman Emperor Octavius Augustus. It was also relocated here from its original location in the village of Kalabasa about 30 miles south when the High Dam was constructed. This temple complex presently overlooks the High Dam and was very impressive. We returned to the ship via our motor boat and disembarked for a bus ride across the High Dam with a tourist stop mid-way across the dam en route to the Aswan airport for our flight back to Cairo. After arriving back at Cairo we spent our last night at the Intercontinental City Stars hotel and had our last Egyptian buffet dinner at the hotel. After precious little sleep, on Tuesday, September 28, we departed Cairo at 5:54 AM on a flight to Frankfurt, Germany, to begin our long journey back home.

TRENDS YOU NEED TO KNOW
We know it's s ll the height of summer, but it's not long un l the autumn/winter '16 collec ons start arriving in shops - so now's the me to get organised. Here, we look back at the mens shows at London Collec ons Men, and in Milan and Paris - and we’ve dis lled everything the designers want to see us wearing this me next year into seven solid trends. Want to know the future of men's fashion now? Read on for the top trends you need to master now for autumn (or, for the truly forward-thinking, spring/summer 2017).
INVEST IN COPPER While there was a strong representa on of your tradi onally autumnal navies, blacks, greys and dark greens, the colour that really stood out at the shows was copper. Replenish your stocks of the rich, orangey-brown shade now. Shows from le to right: Wooyoungmi, Canali, Topman Design
DUFFLE COATS For obvious reasons, the autumn shows are all about outerwear and this season no coat shape was more popular than the duffle coat. Camel was the most popular colour to crop up, but there were plenty of designers giving their own design tweaks to the hooded toplayer, including extending the length or chopping the sleeves off (such as at Maison Margiela) or cu ng it from plas cised material (such as Stuart Vevers at Coach). Shows from le to right: Maison Margiela, Dior Homme, Coach

SILK ‘N’ SHINE High shine fabric was seen across the board at the A/W ‘16 shows. Silk shirts were perhaps the most obvious - and easiest - way to get on the trend (slip one on under a suit), but leather trousers and silken or nylon outerwear (such as the bombers and parkas at Ami) were also well-represented on the catwalks. Shows from le to right: Ka e Eary, Ami, Dolce & Gabbana
PLUMP FOR CLUMP Good news for any Blizzard Jonas sequels next year, shoes are going chunkier than ever. Whether you're a loafer or a lace-up man, soles are thick, stacked and rubberised, with hiking boots set to be a seasonal essen al (and worn with everything in your wardrobe from tailoring to tracksuit trousers). Detailing is also ge ng far bigger, with exploded buckles and fringing notable especially in Milan and Paris. Shows from le to right: Tiger of Sweden, Louis Vui on, Prada
FUNNEL NECKS While the current rollneck revival shows no sign of stopping, next season these will morph into funnel or slightly lower mock turtle necks (that’s a rollneck without the roll) in either zip-up or slip-over form. Slide one under your new slouchy coat with jeans for max effect. Shows from le Burberry

SLEEK SLOUCHY TROUSERS A er season bubbling under the surface, hems are finally loosening up next season. And while only the bravest (and slimmest) of us will be able to slip on a pair of flares, looser wool trousers (wider at the thigh and foot) are seriously easy to wear. Ev e n s l e e ke s t- o f- t h e - s l e e k Hermes is going hard on the trend: the vast majority of the trouser they showed had an elas cated waist - even with tailoring. Shows from le to right: Lou Dalton, Bo ega Veneta, Hermes
PYJAMA SUITS The logical conclusion of the silk shirt trend. There were definitely some bold versions of the matching pyjama shirt and trousers on the catwalks, however we saw it styled in a supremely wearable way at Valen no with a black turtleneck slipped underneath, as well as at Dolce & Gabbana - so don’t rule it out. Hey, we were right about boiler suits... Shows from le to right: Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Valen no

Fast 8 Cast Thanks Fans, Aims to Leave Controversy in the Dust
A sequel to Mary Poppins is in the works. The original musical came out in 1964, starring Julie Andrews as a singing nanny who traveled by flying umbrella. It won five Academy Awards and remains one of the most beloved films in Hollywood history. Hence why critics are aghast over the possibility of it being ruined in any way by some watered-down, money-grabbing follow-up. Fortunately, there are reasons to believe the unexpected sequel is in good hands. It will star Emily Blunt as Poppins herself and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as a friend named Jack.
Fast 8 is looking to speed away from its ongoing controversy. In light of the recent feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, the movie's official Facebook account has shared the following cast photo on its home page. From left to right, the image features the following stars: Jason Statham, Kristofer Hivju, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood and Johnson. Along with the picture, the film penned a message of gratitude to its enormous fan base.

Nargis Fakhri Breaks Silence on Quitting Bollywood
When Nargis Fakhri left Bollywood in a flash, the rumours abounded and wholesome gossip was the order of the day and the gossip content included a break up with Udah Chopra as well as a nervous breakdown. As things emerged it turns out that the real reason was a lifethreatening one. Nargis sufferd from arsenic and lead poisoning and had to get back to the US for remedial treatment. She told media “When I came here, I had arsenic and lead poisoning and no one knew what was wrong with me. It can happen in many ways — it could be in the water, food, rusted lead pipes in an old building… The doctor tested me, but he was so scared because it was at a very high level and I asked him ‘What do I do?’" She further shared "Then I cured myself. Ayurveda is based on naturopathy, herbs basically but it was a combination of different things that I researched and six months later I got the test done again and there was nothing! The doctor was like ‘Oh, my God! How did you do this?’ And I said I will tell you when I see you.” As a cure Ayurveda treatment has brought forth immense medical benefits and for Nargis it is benefit yielding for the family. Media reports that the mother of Nargis also underwent Ayutveda treatment for cancer and the recovery was phenomenal. Whereas the surgeons were opting for cutting her uterus, the use of herbs brought forth an amazing recovery and within six months the fibroids were gone. This is what the reports say.

TIPS FOR BETTER DIGESTIVE HEALTH
Your lifestyle and your choice of foods can affect the way your body digests the foods you eat. Drinking water, adding fiber, and exercising all contribute to better digestive health.
Your digestive health is directly impacted by the foods you eat and the lifestyle you live. By taking steps to improve your digestive health, your digestive system will function more efficiently, improving your overall health and sense of well-being. Try these 10 tips for your better digestive health:
GET INSOLUBLE & EAT A HIGH-FIBER DIET According to Maria Adams, MS, MPH, RD, a registered dietitian in Marblehead, Mass., consuming a diet that is high in fiber and rich in whole grains, vegetables, legumes, and fruits can improve your digestive health. "A high-fiber diet helps to keep food moving through your digestive tract, making you less likely to get constipated," Adams says, adding that a high-fiber diet can also help you prevent or treat various digestive conditions, such as diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, and irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, it can help you achieve or maintain a healthy weight.
LIMIT FOODS THAT ARE HIGH IN FAT
SOLUBLE FIBER It is important to consume both types of fiber, which each help your digestive system in different ways. "Insoluble fiber, also known as roughage, can't be digested by the body and therefore helps add bulk to the stools," says Adams. "Soluble fiber draws in water and can help prevent stools that are too watery." Good sources of insoluble fiber include wheat bran, vegetables, and whole grains; get soluble fiber from oat bran, nuts, seeds, and legumes.
CHOOSE LEAN MEATS Protein is an essential part of a healthful diet, but fatty cuts of meat can lead to uncomfortable digestion. When you eat meat, select lean cuts, such as pork loin and skinless poultry.
INCORPORATE PROBIOTICS
"In general, fatty foods tend to slow down the digestive process, making you more prone to constipation," says Adams. But since it is important to get some fat in your diet, Adams says that Probiotics are the healthy bacteria naturally present in your pairing fatty foods with high-fiber foods can make them easier on digestive tract. "They help keep the body healthy by combating your digestive system. the effects of a poor diet, antibiotics, and stress," says Adams. In addition, probiotics can enhance nutrient absorption, help break down lactose, strengthen your immune system, and possibly even help treat irritable bowel syndrome. Adams Adams says that consuming your meals and snacks on a regular schedule can help keep your digestive system in top shape. Aim recommends that people eat good sources of probiotics, such to sit down for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks around the as low-fat yogurt or kefir, on a daily basis. same time each day.
INTO YOUR DIET
EAT ON SCHEDULE
STAY HYDRATED Drinking plenty of water is good for your digestive health, according to Adams. Water in your digestive system helps dissolve fats and soluble fiber, allowing these substances to pass through more easily.
SKIP THE BAD HABITS
Liquor, coffee, and cigarettes can interfere with the functioning of your digestive system, and lead to problems like stomach ulcers and heartburn.
EXERCISE REGULARLY

BEAUT Y & CARE www.emalmag.com
TO LOOK YOUNGER START DOING 8 THINGS
WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO LOOK YOUR AGE? When it comes to how old you are, age really is just a number. In 2015, researchers at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis published a study stating that there are a lot more factors that should go into determining age than how long you’ve been alive. There are plenty of super-simple things you can do to keep your complexion healthy and radiant regardless of what birthday you most recently celebrated. Andrea Robinson, the former head of beauty for Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford and the author of “Toss the Gloss: Beauty Tips and Tricks for Women 50+”, shares her insider knowledge on what antiaging products really work, makeup tips that are guaranteed to make you look younger, and more.
USE THE RIGHT SKIN When shopping for skin care products, there are three powerful ingredients you should look for to maintain youthful-looking skin, says Robinson. One, check the label CARE PRODUCTS for a serum containing antioxidants like vitamin C (Robinson likes Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum), which will help brighten your skin; two, add retinoids, which increase cell turnover and stimulate collagen renewal, to your routine; and three, start using an alpha hydroxy acid exfoliator to remove the top layer of dead skin cells (Robinson is a fan of Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads, which are gentle enough to be used daily).
WEAR SPF EVERY DAY
44 EMAL MaGazine
Whether it’s humid and 90 degrees outside or chilly and rainy, sunscreen is a must no matter what. So add it to your daily routine if you haven’t already, since sun damage not only causes wrinkles, but can leave you vulnerable to skin cancer. “Use at least an SPF 30, but don’t waste your money on anything higher than SPF 50 since there is little evidence that higher SPFs provide more protective benefits,” Robinson says. Try Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30, which is packed with vitamins and helps moisturize dry skin.
www.emalmag.com
TAKE IT EASY ON THE FOUNDATION “Heavy foundation tends to settle on the rough patches or into the lines of the face,” Robinson says. “What is needed as we age is a good transparent moisturizing foundation or tinted moisturizer. Avoid anything with a powder base.” Robinson recommends Philosophy Hope in a Jar Hydrating Foundation, which provides light to medium coverage. She also suggests using a primer before applying foundation. “A primer makes your foundation roll on more smoothly, filling in lines and pores; minimizes dark circles; and makes all makeup last,” she says.
STEP AWAY FROM THE GLITTER Bright, bold eye shadow and products with shimmer and glitter will make wrinkles more noticeable. “These products do not flatter or look attractive on skin or lids that are beginning to show tiny lines or have rough patches,” Robinson says. “Dark shades combined with lighter neutrals are the most forgiving and youthful choices for the lids.” And skip liquid liner, which emphasizes the delicate and fine skin surrounding your eyes and opt for a soft pencil liner, like L’Oreal Paris Le Kohl Duo Eyeliner, which can be smudged instead.
FAKE A HEALTHY GLOW There is one easy way to get some color safely: use a gradual self-tanner. “Nothing beats a little healthy glow on the body and face at this stage in life,” Robin says. “With a gradual build, you’ll see minimal streaking, blotchiness, and buildups on ankles, the soles of the feet, and knuckles.” On your face, use a cream blush to perk up your complexion. “It blends more easily over rough patches or lines,” Robinson says. “Apply in a circular motion with your finger and blend the edges.” She likes Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Color in Praline, a neutral brown.

DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK PICK THE RIGHT BROW SHAPE Put down the tweezers and visit a professional to shape your brows, says Robinson. “Droopy eyes can be changed by slightly arching the brows and extending them toward the temples (rather than having the tail curve down around the eye),” she explains. “The arch is an important part of the brow, and should have a gradual and very gentle lift.”
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR HANDS, TOO Remember to always wear gloves while washing dishes and to moisturize frequently. “Chemicals and hot water can strip away the protective lipid barrier on your skin, making it susceptible to irritation and dryness,” Robinson says. “Apply a layer of lotion to your hands each time you put on rubber gloves — not only will it protect them, it’ll give you an extra dose of moisture.” Robinson’s favorite is Jurlique Rose Hand Cream, which contains safflower seed oil, vitamin E, carrot root extract, and aloe vera to protect skin against dryness.
46 EMAL MaGazine
“As you age, the neck loses elasticity faster than anywhere else on your body, taking on the dreaded crepe-y look,” Robinson says. “You should be every bit as diligent and careful about taking care of your neck and décolletage as you are about your face.” To keep this part of your body looking just as young as your face, follow this three-step routine: Moisturize every morning and night, exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub, and apply sunscreen daily.
