A love letter from God

Finding Your Beauty in Christ January 2016

Editor's Note Hi! I’m Emilee Burroughs, and like you, I have a heart for God. Jesus is my best friend, and I hope and pray that He’s yours too! My passion for writing and my love of fashion collides with my complete and utter devotion to Christ in the pages of this magazine. This is the very first issue, and I hope that you like it. This magazine that you’re reading is a dream of mine that I’ve had since high school. I chose to name this magazine "Anointed" from the verse Isaiah 61:1 "...the Lord has anointed me to preach good news..." Because of our faith in Christ, we are "anointed" to tell others about Him. I am a junior at Berry College studying journalism and religion. For three years I worked (and am currently working on) my school’s yearbook staff. Every part of journalism—taking pictures, interviewing students, writing articles—thrills me so much that I decided to finally make the magazine you see before you. Writing stories for God is my calling. While it took me several years to finally listen to God’s direction, I still have no idea where His path leads. But what I do know is that this magazine is what I’m supposed to do in this stage of my life. Whatever stage of life you’re in or whatever path you’re on, know that you have an entire community of sisters in Christ who are likewise traveling on a path uniquely designed for them (and you!) by their Heavenly Father. I promise that whatever you see in this magazine has been prayed over so that all of the glory goes to God. And remember that He loves you so very much! With much love, Emilee Burroughs

beloved By Caroline Burroughs Beloved Daughter, You, my most precious creation, are the heiress to the glory and splendor of my Kingdom in Heaven, for you are indeed a princess, as long as I am your father and one true King. My child, I have prepared a place for you so that when you come home to dwell with me in Eternity you will have a room filled with things that bring delight to your heart. I designed you and know you intimately, and my Son, Jesus, speaks to me daily on your behalf about your pleasures. I am anxious for you to come be with Us and see what I have laid out for you. Beloved, do not worry-it will not be long now before Jesus comes to redeem His Bride! I am writing to remind you of this birthright and of your claim to My Kingdom so that the deceptions of the Earth, which are indeed the Enemy's lies, do not blind you to who you really are. You, my child, are a princess and are to inherit a place by my side as co-heir with Jesus. Your brief interval on Earth is a time to grow and learn to walk, talk, and act like royalty. You only have to claim it, for a life after death in Heaven is promised to you if you will but receive it! My Daughter, also know that I am always with you. Because Jesus is myself in the flesh, I understand your pains, struggles, temptations, insecurities, and your joys. When I say that I will never leave nor forsake you, trust that I will not hurt you and that I will always be there to mend you when you feel broken. But also know that when I look upon you I do not see a broken girl with sin and shame. I see my daughter covered by the blood of Jesus and clothed in fine linen, bright and pure. Beloved, all you need to do is ask and you will receive! Your prayers are being stored in Heaven, and each one will be answered according to my time and perfect will. Believe that I am faithfully, relentlessly pursuing you and taking care of you. Princess, for just a little while longer prepare for your bridegroom. Seek me daily, walking upright and obeying my commandments. You will not go through Earth without falling, feeling as though you have failed. But assuredly you will grow stronger and stumble less the more you pursue me. What is an heiress of Heaven to look like? She is adorned with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She is prepared because she knows that at any moment her King may come to rescue her. She loves her Father and seeks to please Him, and they delight in each other. I love you with so much ferocity and endlessness that you cannot comprehend it. But soon you will. Until your wedding day, Your adoring Father

Meet the models! Deanna Cunningham

Deanna is a junior at Berry College double majoring in Theatre and Visual Communications. Her favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 13:13, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

Allie Pritchett

I am a sophomore Visual Communications major at Berry College. I hope to become a news anchor and to do overseas mission work after college. I come from a very large family with 11 first cousins that all feel like my siblings. I think that is where my passion for people originated. I love listening to people's unique stories and helping them see their importance on this Earth. My favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. Though it may be cliche, it demonstrates true, God-intended love, and that's beautiful. God has proven to be my Father, my Friend, and my Savior, and for that, I would consider myself blessed beyond measure.

Courtney Fox

Courtney Fox is a junior Communication major with a concentration in Journalism from Cartersville, GA. She hopes to one day be a journalist, a writer, or Taylor Swift's full-time best friend. Hopefully the last one. Her favorite verse is 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
