“I am convinced that beauty is not created but discovered�. Lia About Lia: Raised in Guatemala, a country where two major and rich cultures clash and blend: the Spanish and the Mayan. Blessed to be surrounded by culture, art and ancestral traditions, I also learned from my parents how to combine elements of nature with handcrafted pieces and precious metals in order to find harmony. Challenging popular taste and breaking schemes through these materials became my passion. The materials I use in making bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings and pendants are mostly unique or collectibles, an art form by themselves. As a result, many of the jewels become non-repeatable jewels that make my collection an artistic expression. The particular essence of my art does not belong to a an acquired technique but to a natural instinct of seeking harmony. I don’t abide by general forms known to jewellers but try looking for different and innovative ones such as knots, fetishes, coins, color bands and lots of silver. These give my collections a unity of style that goes beyond conventional. Achieving beauty through the mix of form, color and harmony would not be possible without the intense and detailed work of many artisans whose skillful craft I hope to honor in my designs.
