Introduction The US-Thai Consortium is one of the components of the Global Pharmacy Initiatives at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. OSU Pharmacy provides MS and PhD training in the pharmaceutical sciences to students from Thailand, and Ohio State PhD alumni are faculty at Thai universities. In addition, strong relationships were established with schools of pharmacy in Taiwan, including formal agreements for faculty and student exchanges, research experiences, and PhD training. OSU College of Pharmacy and the College of Arts & Sciences have each formed an educational partnership with Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) Faculty of Science and School of Chinese Medicine. Short-term study abroad experiences began in 2003 to expose BSPS and PharmD students to pharmaceutical and healthcare issues in various countries. Comparisons and differences in pharmacy issues are examined while students study in the US and during the visit to the country. Trips include visits to the pharmacy schools and pharmacy sites in hospitals and the community. Students also are introduced to the sights and sounds of that country and surrounding historical and cultural sites while studying the pharmacy curriculum. The College of Pharmacy, as a member of the OSU Health Sciences team, established formal agreements with Addis Ababa University and the University of Gondar in Ethiopia. The College of Pharmacy provides research training in the pharmaceutical sciences and capacity building in pharmacy. Similar research experiences are underway with the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
