Em’s Entries Hey Sharks! I hope everyone’s summer has been full of fun and most of all.. SERVICE!! Summers are the best time to plan ahead for recruiting when school starts, for fundraisers, and for upcoming projects you and your club would like to do! Hosting extra fundraisers in the summer will be very beneficial for next year’s DCON funds as well. I also encourage you all to contact other schools from Division 3W and plan a few interclub socials! Thank you to James Taylor KC for inviting me to their Kendra Scott profit-share in efforts to raise money for the special Eliminate Project! Don’t forget that Mr. Iselin has kindly pushed the deadline for the special Eliminate Project for Division 3 back to July 15th! It’s not too late to plan a profit-share, car wash, or any small fundraiser! If you ever have any questions, you can always email, call, text, and/or social media me! Looking forward to seeing you all again on July 29th for our joint July DCM!! Yours in Service, Emily Yang

Month Recap Thank you so much to those of you who made it to my June DCM on such a rainy day! Around 30 of you all showed up and I was so happy to see you guys again and meet some of you for the first time! I hope you all had fun playing the 3 icebreakers and getting boba! Shoutout to those of you who have sent your $100 for the special Eliminate Project! I’m so thankful to have such a supportive division. Our upcoming July DCM on July 29th will be a joint one with Division 3N, featuring Cy Fair Kiwanis! We will be updating you all with new information fresh from Summer Board. I can’t wait to see you all again! Key Club Pledge: I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the objects of Key Club International, to build my home, school, and community, to serve my nation and God, and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions!

Pun of the Month: Someone tried to annoy me with bird puns, but I soon realized that toucan play at that game!

Summer Fundraising Ideas Summer means enjoyable weather, limitless socializing and sun, and endless summer service! Here are some ideas for a few fundraisers your club can host while summer’s still in session! 1) Car Wash: “Scrub those dirty bumpers clean! This tried-and-true fundraiser is a natural choice for summer since groups of just about all sizes can run a profitable car wash. Charge extra to have tire rims polished.” 2) Summer Concert: “Set up a concert at a local venue or in a member’s backyard. Whether you showcase local talent or family and friends, setting up a benefit concert or open mic night are great ways to let the good times (and donations) roll in. Local bands may play for free since it’s a great opportunity for them to display their talents. This is especially popular for kids and teens.”

Summer Fundraising Ideas 3) Bike-a-thon: “What’s better than getting outside to feel the cool wind in your hair? You can charge registrants a small entrance fee then ask them to collect sponsorships for miles biked. A swim-a-thon is another option!” 4) Garage or Yard Sale: “A great way to clear the clutter and raise lots of money. It takes some pre-planning though.” 5) Community Block Party: “Summer block parties combine all of the summer goodness in one event—a barbecue, watermelon eating contest, slip and slide, sprinkler, fireworks, live music and community! A block party takes a little bit of extra planning, but it’s the perfect fundraiser. Do your best to recruit a team of volunteers to help out.” 6) Duck Race: “An event that is sure to entertain all. After each participant pays to receive a numbered rubber duck, the race down the stream begins! Whoever’s duck makes it to the ending point first is the lucky duck prize winner.

Special K-Family Project Special Opportunity: S/O to Cinco Ranch, Cypress Ranch, James Taylor, Mayde Creek, and Obra Tompkins for sending in their $100 to Mr. Iselin! Mr. Iselin, the T-O Kiwanis Division 3 Lieutenant Governor, has extended the deadline for the $100 to July 15th! T-O Division 3 takes pride in being one of the only 2 Divisions in T-O where all of the Kiwanis Clubs are pledged Model Clubs for the Eliminate Project(also home Division to Kiwanis Governor John Sheridan!!). Division 3W can help out by having clubs raise $100 by July 15th as an Eliminate donation in the name of Kiwanis, so that Division 3 can achieve being a fully paid Model Club Division. Let’s try to help out as much as we can by aiming to have at least 15 Key Clubs fundraise and donate! Remember that any Key Club that raises $100 for Eliminate by July 15th will be given a one of a kind T-O Kiwanis "Signature Project" patch for their banner. All Eliminate funds for this special Eliminate Project must be sent to Mr. Iselin, contact him or me for a mailing address; he is flexible to meet with any club officer to pick up cash.
