Pack No.3

THE ART BOOK

Introduction Hello, my name is Emma and I am a Graphic Designer and Artist. After having had several parents reach out for art project ideas for their children in the coming months I have decided to make a weekly pack with a few ideas for three different age categories. I have loosely grouped them into ‘Little ones’, ‘Bigger Ones’ and ‘Young Adults’. I will make these available once a week on the Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ TheArtBookUK/ I will do my best to minimise mess and to only suggest ideas using materials that you may have at home. I will try my best to post in advance what materials might be needed for the next week in case that is helpful! If anyone would like to share their creations I will create a little board where masterpieces can be exhibited for the community to enjoy and celebrate! Please share this pack to anyone that might find it useful. I hope it can help anyone after a creative project in the coming weeks! If you need any help feel free to ask on the page!

Little Ones! Project One: Make a Rainbow! This week we are looking at colour! Can you make a rainbow out of things in your house?

Project Two: Postcards! Its a very difficult time not being able to see out loved ones, so this week were looking at making postcards so we can connect to our loved ones or reach out to a lonely neighbour. Make your masterpiece, whatever it might be! Then write a message on the back to deliver or post. It might even be for someone in your household! What would make them smile?

Project Three: EASTER EGGS! It finally feels like spring is here with the flowers coming out! Here in North Yorkshire were seeing a few baby farm animals too! Next week many people across the UK will be celebrating Easter and even if you don’t celebrate Easter yourself it seems a good opportunity to celebrate the changing season and the new signs of life all around us. Ask an adult if they can cut out an egg shape or flower for you to decorate. We would love to see what you create!

Bigger Ones! Project One: Recreate a famous painting! Recreate a piece of art from History! Look really closely for details and get creative with that you can find in your home! Possible artists to give you ideas: Michael Angelo, Edgar Degas or one of the artists used here. You can also go to a gallery from your living room and find a piece of art yourself here.

Project Two: Gaudi! Gaudi was a designer who designed amazing buildings in Barcelona. One of his more famous pieces is this wiggly wall which is decorated with beautiful intricately pattered tiles. He was very inspired by the natural world and many of his designs are based on natural shapes like seed heads and plants. This week design your own section of Guadi’s wall. Create a scribble like the one below and fill each section with a different texture you have found in nature. Try drawing sections from fruit or even make rubbings in each section. You could paint a section if you had the materials or if you don’t check out this tutorial for painting with coffee.

Project Three: Collage Yourself! Make a collage about yourself and the things that make you, you! What do you like doing in your spare time? What is your favourite colour? What is you favourite Animal? If you don’t have magazines that you are allowed to cut up then draw out your favourite objects in a collage style! You could eve combine the two like the example to the right.

Adults and Teens! Project One: Vieira da Silva! This week we are looking at perspective! Vieira da Silva was a abstract painter who used 1 and 2 point perspective in her compositions. A good introduction to this can be found here. This week I want you to create a piece inspired by SIlva’s work. You could either use your own home or for a bit of escapism escape to somewhere else, I will be using images of roads from Pompeii.

Project Two: Closeups! Artists like Alison Watt and Georgia O Keefe create pieces of art from ‘zoomed in’ sections of plants and material. This week I want you to find an interesting object and select a very small section to draw out. You can create a guide to really help you focus in on the detail by cutting a square out of a piece of paper.

Project Three (The Big Project Continued): Social Media! Lots of the imagery that we digest on a daily basis comes from the Social media Platforms that we use. We digest the images so quickly they have to be attention grabbing and really quickly communicate ideas. Using a tool called Canva I want to you to play around and make some super Social Media graphics for you’re chosen idea! Please note that Canva will ask you to create an account but it is free to use its basic features. There are other websites and Apps out there that do the same! https://www.canva.com/
