Quick Guide to Accessing Oxford Brookes on-line Resources First, go to the Library Home page and log-on to Athens using your PIP.

Go back to the library home page and select Subject Help then Business from the drop-down list.
Expand your topic of choice. Go to Guides and Links to Databases for Management, Business and Economics. Select the relevant database. Select the relevant links to learn about database content and how to access.
Why Use Databases? To help you get the best marks for your assignments! In your assignments tutors are looking for evidence both of breadth and quality of reading. You need to be using journal articles in your assignments to demonstrate this and potentially improve your grades.

Oxford Brookes Databases: Emerald What does it contain? Full texts and abstracts from 120 journals and some books, from one publisher only. It contains mainly articles on business, with a strong focus on management. There is a relatively large selection of articles on accountancy.
When should you use it? As your primary source of journal articles on accountancy. Specifically for this unit: For articles on accounting and auditing systems, accounting theory, historical development of accountancy and fraud.

Also consider Business Source Complete for theory Business Source Complete also contains some material on accountancy and auditing. Although we normally recommend Business Source Complete as your first port of call for journal articles, in this case, Emerald appears to have a greater number of articles.

Make sure you log onto Athens using your Brookes PIP before trying to access any Brookes databases. It will save you time and hassle during your research. Go to http://www.brookes.ac.uk/ library/ and click on the Athens buttons. (Note this does not apply to Thomspon ONE Banker)
Oxford Brookes Databases: Thomson ONE Banker Analytics What does it contain? Primarily accounts, financial information and share prices for 28000 plus international companies.
When should you use it?
It has an amazing capacity to analyse and manipulate the data .
Specifically for this unit:
To search for specific company accounts.
Examples of company accounts and financial information. To play around with accounting information.

You can renew items up to 3 times in person, by phone or online. Please bring your books etc… back on time to ensure other students can access them too, and remember, like other public - or academic libraries, there are fines on late items.
