>>reflections

I prefer open spaces, those lacking confinement. The atrium is my first preference, followed by the roof-top car park. The classroom, although thermally secure and noise-insulated, lacks the outside element of “fresh airâ€?, as well as lacking the quantity of day-light the other spaces possess. The connection felt in the atrium is not only in relation to nature, although that is the primary one, but a connection to people in the space. The noise carries and fills the space robustly, such as in a busy cafĂŠ, and the amora of coffee is completely alluring. Thermal comfort is provided as the space is physically contained, while still enjoying visual freedom. So many entrances, and more importantly exits, provide a quick escape if necessary. Less caged animal, more free spirit.
