The HE Office is open Mon-Fri (except bank holidays and during the Christmas break). The office opens at 08.30am every day but closing times do
vary. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the office closes at 5.00pm. On Wednesdays it is open until 6.00pm and on Fridays, closes at 4.30pm.
We remain open during half-terms, Easter and the summer but please note that opening hours may occasionally be reduced. To check, call 01752 305786.

If appointed you will work with academic staff from within and outside Plymouth University to discuss the proposals. You will be required to attend one meeting during the course of the academic year at the
college and spend some time before this meeting familiarising yourself with the approval documentation. Please note that you will not be asked to take part in an approval within your subject area. A fee of £150 will be paid for your attendance and input into the approval meeting.

Go Karting - Monday 7 March 2016 On Monday 7th March 2016, the College’s Student Liaison team are hosting a trip to go Go Karting. The trip will last from 1.30pm - 4.30pm. The trip will cost £25 which includes transport to and from the venue as well as to karting sessions. Limited spaces are available so you will need to secure
your place as soon as possible by paying a £5 deposit by 26/02/16. For further information please see Jess Driscoll in the student centre or call 01752 305848. Please note that all students will need to complete and return an Activity Consent form which can be obtained from the student centre or the HE Office (K106).
Paintballing - 17 May 2016 On Tuesday 17 May 2016, the College’s Student Liaison team are hosting a trip to go paintballing. The trip will last from 11.30am - 4.30pm. The trip will cost £25 which includes transport to and from the venue as well as 200

Discounted Swimming at Plymouth Life Centre Did you know that students of City College Plymouth could get discounted swimming sessions at Plymouth Life Centre? Students can swim during any ’Swim for Fitness’, ’Swim for Everyone’ or ’Family
Fun’ session for just £1.50 from Monday—Friday. Simply purchase your swimming voucher from the Cash Office and present it along with your College ID card on arrival at the Life Centre.

Derriford Hospital Open Day Derriford Hospital is opening its’ doors to the general public on Saturday 19 March. This is a fantastic opportunity should anyone wish to have a tour of theatres and facilities. This is also a great chance to talk to staff about a number of career options from administration, porters and logistics to name a few. Doors open from 10am - 2pm,

This time, to help you plan where you’d like to visit and what you’d like to see and do, they have created their own app, available to download free on Android or Apple.
Student Finance England 2016/17 Don’t forget that you need to apply for Student Finance every year to continue to be funded for your study. This is not completed automatically. If you are intending to study in 2016/17, please apply for your funding as soon as possible. You do not need to wait for the
results of your current studies as any changes in circumstances can be handled at a later date. No funding will be released until you enrol next year so you are not liable for anything until you enrol. If you wait until the summer to apply, you are not guaranteed

Plymouth University Periodic Review Every 6 years, the College is subject to a review by Plymouth University of the provision provided in partnership with the College. The key areas which the review will focus on are ‘Academic Standards’, ‘Student Support’, ‘Learning and Teaching
Provision’ and ‘B usin e ss Arrangements’. The panel will meet with students from each faculty as part of the review process. This will generally be, but not exclusive to student representatives. These meetings will be held at the end of May or the beginning of June 2016.

HE Study Skills There is a new schedule for study skills sessions running up until Easter. The arrangements are as follows: Sessions will now be held on a Wednesday evening from 5.30pm - 6.30pm in K308 with Demelza Thackeray. 24/02/16 - HE Assignments – techniques to ensure you understand the requirement specified in the brief and are able to plan an appropriate response. 02/03/16 - Using references and examples effectively – recap on the Harvard technique and consideration of how to better incorporate quotes and citations into your text. 09/03/16 - Revision – techniques to improve your revision including creating a revision timetable and using active learning to help you memorise key information.
