 Geothermal

- 12 wells, each 500 feet deep

- 2 alternating pumps, located in basement

 Cogeneration

- Yanmar 10kw unit runs 24/7, producing electricity (sold to grid) and hot water (for heating)

- Electricity is billed on a net-metered basis: Electricity consumed minus electricity produced by co-gen is the amount Eversource bills

- Hot water is a by product and is utilized to heat various units, including heating system, pool/spa and in ground snow-melt systems. This is accomplished via a heat exchange unit

- Hot water is stored in a large water tank in utility room and augmented with two large rapid recovery hot water heating units if necessary for heat, separate from rapid recovery hot water heaters for non-heating purposes (such as faucets)

- The unit uses natural gas as it’s fuel, which is purchased from CNG at a reduced rate. The rest of the home uses natural gas at standard rates

 Radiant Heat

- All floor surfaces in Main House and Guesthouse provide radiant heat

 Forced Hot Air

- System augments radiant system when bringing temperature up rapidly (say after temp had been lowered during a vacation)

 Air Conditioning

- Forced air, via same system as forced hot air, based upon geothermal, that eliminates need for condensers (either indoor or outdoor)

 Humidification

- Important for comfort and reduces millwork contraction during winter. Augmented because house is “tight”

 Dehumidification

- Important for comfort in summer; reduces demand for air conditioning
