This is a temporary post for 12 months to cover the maternity leave of the existing post-holder. The post is situated within the Council’s Housing Strategy and Delivery team. The post-holder will take a key role in the delivery of the Council’s statutory duties in relation to Disabled Facilities Grants. Are you interested in working within the community to improve safety awareness; help prevent fires and other incidents and promote fire safety? If you are motivated and willing to learn and enjoy working in a team we’d like to hear from you. This Advanced apprenticeship will be based within Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service. These vacancies are for 18 and over who are looking to embark on an apprenticeship within Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service. Due to the high-risk nature of the work applicants to Fire and Rescue Services, applicants applying for this apprenticeship need to be aged 18 years of age before the start date of the apprenticeship - 28th March 2016. As an apprentice, you’ll learn about the various ways to put out a fire using gas, powder, water or foam. More importantly, you’ll know how fires can best be prevented and work with the team to act as an advisor to others on this important subject. This may include: • Responding to emergencies and rescue life and property from all types of incidents. • Making an area safer by minimising the risks caused by fire and other hazards. • Working closely with the local community to help prevent fires and other incidents occurring.
