Cumbria’s wide range of adult learning courses offers something for everyone Adult learning is top of the agenda at the moment with Cumbria County Council having delivered a quarter of a million course brochures to households across the county. The county council’s Community Learning and Skills service delivers a wide variety of courses, workshops and events from centres across Cumbria, covering everything from core skills like English and maths, and support for people who wish to upskill, right through to digital skills, languages and arts and crafts. With so many options there’s almost certain to be something for everyone in the brochure which started dropping through letterboxes a fortnight ago. You can also go online at cumbria.gov.uk/learningandskills to search for courses or download a full copy of the brochure. To help you book on a suitable course, sessions offering an initial assessment and course advice and enrolment are being held at venues throughout Cumbria from mid-August to early September 2018. The council aims to make courses as accessible as possible - with daytime and evening courses and reduced fees for those looking to upskill, are disadvantaged or facing social hardship. Cllr Deborah Earl, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Services, said: “Our courses are inspected by Ofsted and it was fantastic to see that Cumbria’s Community Learning and Skills service was recognised as a good provider of Adult Education across the board in Ofsted’s latest inspection in January 2018. “There’s a very wide range of courses being delivered in venues right across the county and they are designed to help improve your quality of life. With some courses starting in early September, it’s well worth checking our brochure or going online now to see what’s available. “So whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, improve your English and maths, enhance your job prospects or develop a new interest – we are confident that you’ll find something that’s right for you.”
