We have all had a great year in hospitality and the Lakes Hotel and Spa has had an amazing year, forward bookings for 2022 are way above what we would expect. Our staff retention is second to none. We added 12 staff in 2021 and with almost 200 guests on site every day we want to add another 18 in 2022. The hotel is not aiming or expecting to be like other upmarket hotels, our age profile is always dropping, and our plan is to create the most fun warm friendly hotel, not stuffy. Our guests already include TV stars, radio 1 DJs, commentators, athletes, England current and former rugby players, many premiership footballers and last month a first team England footballer. Hotel trade is now better paid than ever and can be fun and rewarding so if you’re needing a change now may be the perfect time. The people we need now are on top of our existing staff:
Quality Control Manager
To work directly for the owner, the job can be part time or full time but does include interacting with the guests and being round the hotel at different times of the day. The duties will be assessing staff levels, quality of service, staff guidance, training plans, spotting potential problems, overseeing the quality and cleanliness of rooms and the whole hotel and many other quality control roles. Does not need a hotel background but must be great with people. Salary on application.
Assistant Hotel Manager
To work with our existing team of 3 reporting to the Hotel and General Manager. Salary on application.
Bar Person/Spa Assistant
Working between the pub and looking after the spa. Full time with starting times of 8.00am, 12.00pm or 4.00pm. £11.00 per hour plus tips plus £750 year end shared tips and bonus (£11.50 per hour from the end of April plus tips).
Waiting On Staff
You must be professional and keen; the salary is based on split shifts £27,456 per annum plus tips plus £750 year end shared tips and bonus paid just before Christmas (£28,700 per annum plus tips from April). Part time staff at £11.00 per hour plus tips (£11.50 per hour from end of April plus tips).
Breakfast Waiter
Part time from 8.00am finishing 12.00noon or 2.00pm. £11.00 per hour (£11.50 per hour from April) plus tips split and bonus paid just before Christmas.
Concierge
To join our team of 3. Can be any type of character or age but must love talking and looking after people £23,500 per annum plus amazing tips if you are the right person (£24,050 per annum plus tips from end of April).
Beauty Therapists
To join our team of 5. Must be level 3 or above doing a maximum of 4 hours of full massages a day with the rest of the 40 hours made up of other duties and treatments. £11.25 per hour plus year end tips plus bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas (£11.75 per hour from end of April). Would consider a part time employee.
Experienced Receptionist
To join our team of 10. This is very demanding job as you will be handling the expectations of the guests. £26,910 per annum plus end of year tips bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas (£28,106 per annum from end of April). We would consider a vibrant person with no experience that would start on a training wage for 4 months before moving onto the full wage.
Kitchen Porter
Position available from early February as a great member of staff has trained up to become a commis chef. £10.75 per hour, £11.00 per hour from late April with a yearend tips and bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas.
Housekeepers
Full or part time positions available can be rota’d around family commitments, £10.75 per hour plus year end tips and bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas (£11.00 per hour from end April).
Bar Person/Night Porter
Full time with shifts from 6.30pm to 3.30am, 10.00pm to 7.00am and 4.00am to 1.00pm. Salary on application plus £750 year end shared tips and bonus.
Chef De Partie
A full time chef de partie is required to join our team (may suit a commis chef looking to take the next step), £29,328 per annum plus tips split and bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas (£30,628 per annum from end of April).
Pub Chef
We need a pub chef from March (when our pub chef moves to our new gastro pub in Carlisle) to look after our onsite pub doing traditional pub food. £29,328 per annum plus tips split and bonus of £750 paid just before Christmas.
Bar Person
We need a bar person from March (when one of our bar team moves to our new gastro pub in Carlisle) for the main hotel cocktail bar £27,495 per annum plus tips plus £750 year end shared tips and bonus paid just before Christmas.
Hot Tub Maintainer / Maintenance Person / Painter / Accounts Person (Part Time) We are currently fully staffed but it’s worth making contact as things change.
Chefs and Front of House jobs will be available at our New Gastro Pub, The Horse and Farrier in Carlisle from April if anybody wants a move to a city where house prices and living expenses are much cheaper than the Lakes.

Personal Care & General Assistants
£10.50 - £15.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications 32 or 40 hrs per week plus one sleepover permanent contract. Part time and Casual contracts also offered. Seeking reliable, competent and responsible Personal Care assistants (NVQ or QCF trained to level 2/3) who are highly motivated with a professional approach to work and a commitment to high standards to join our growing team in a welcoming and well-resourced domestic setting providing a person-centred quality living and lifestyle experience. We have a polytunnel and kitchen garden, swimming pool and Arts and Crafts room on site. A can-do approach is key. For those thinking of a change of career and perhaps entering into care the role of general assistant supports a taster experience with constant supervision. Rural area so driver with own car essential/clean driving licence desirable. Client has own vehicle. Desirable: Good computer skills and experience in using applications like Facebook, messenger, skype, Garage band etc. Complimentary interests and skills in the area of filmmaking, photography, Arts and crafts, Music, Woodwork, Cooking, Gardening and sport.
