Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)
HYUNDAI GENESIS RWD 5.0 Dallas, Texas-It’s time to go for a ride in one of the world’s finest new Luxury automobiles. The new 2015 Hyundai Genesis Rear Wheel Drive 5.0 Luxury Sedan. Oh yeh this baby has a 5.0 Liter DOHC GDI Dual CVVT aluminum 420 Horse power Premium V8 engine with 383 pounds per foot of torque and is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission with shifttronic and paddle shifter and intelligent drive mode select. When you put this baby in sports mode it automatically firms up the suspension and you get the feel as if you are on the track. Fact is Hyundai tested this vehi-
cle in the world famous Nurburgring track in Germany. The site known for testing ground for some of the world’s finest luxury performance sedans. Power comes thrusting to the pavement on P245/40R 19 inch front tires with P 275/35R 19-inch alloy wheels on the rear. Economy numbers are listed as 15 in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway. Our test vehicle lived up to those numbers. Engineers say the new Genesis held its own on the track. Lotus company of engineers were on hand when this vehicle went into productions and it was tweeted
THE A-NOTE with Aaron Watson
CHALLENGE
For weeks now we have seen the challenges on FACEBOOK, YouTube and other venues. For most of us it began with aww, that's cool doing this challenge for charity, but soon it quickly turned into did you see that? And what were they thinking? We went from doing a challenge to bring awareness to a charity to now setting ourselves on fire. The thing I hear most often is someone is going to get killed.
That may very well be true, because that just seems to be the direction we are headed these days. But what I also hear is a cry for attention. The sad thing is our younger population no longer wants attention from the older generation. The attention they seek is from those that don't judge them based on what they look like and how they talk. They bypass the adults and reach millions of other young adults going through the same

and re-tweeted until they got it where they wanted it to be. The cruise control can actually bring the vehicle to a complete stop if need be. Further more the new Genesis has lane departure warning and lane keep assist with blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert. Throw in 9airbags including driver knee airbags and automatic emergency braking. Electronic stability control with traction control and ABS with electronic brake distribution and brake assist. Lets just take a overall look at the new Genesis as it would look sitting in your drive way. A massive looking grille up front with air dams on both side and dual double exhaust tips at the end of a sweeping flow rear deck lid. The side view had German luxury written all over it. That just looking at it now lets move to the inside. A tremendously good looking interior layout with a four spoke
leather wrapped steering wheel with controls buttons. A 9.2-inch LCD multi-info HD display screen gets you into the sounds from a AM/FM/Satellite XM/CD/MP3/HD radio Lexicon Audio Sound system with 17speakers. Man let me tell you during our trip to Dallas we took advantage of this system. Jamming to some of my favorites all the way. With 81 per cent of its part from Korea and only 5 per cent from the U S and Canada the Genesis is a full blood import with the
thing they are via the internet. With today's technology they get immediate feedback, that's positive, not because of the act but because they dared to be different.
venom itself. It took some time to get here and it will take time to get back to where the children look toward their parents
Let's take a moment to reflect on the challenges that could have gotten us here. Remember "The I will no longer have dinner on Sunday with my family challenge?" Oh, what about "The I will eat fast food everyday challenge?" Better yet, "The I won't commit to one person challenge?" These challenges that started in the late 90s and early 2000's had an effect on our youth like never before. Now we have even adapted Kermit the Frog, he clearly tells us what's going on but quickly states that's none of my business. It may not be his but it surely should be our business! Just like with a snake bite the only cure is made from the same thing that caused the trauma, manipulation of the snake
final assembly point in Ulsan, Korea. The engine and transmission are both built in Korea as well. Warranties for the new Hyundai Genesis are 10-year/100,000 mile Power train, 5-year/60,000 mile New vehicle Warranty, 7year/Unlimited mile anti-perforation and 5-year/unlimited miles roadside assistance. In closing let me add our test vehicle priced at 55, 700 with all the trimming is a fair market price in our opinion.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis RWD 5.0 Luxury Sedan approval instead of their peers approval. Where our young strive to look like us and not us look like them.

CONFERENCE 3A BOYS BASKETBALL STATE TITLES FORFEITED
AUSTIN— Dallas Independent School District has forfeited the 2013 and 2014 University Interscholastic League boys basketball state championships won by Dallas Madison High School. Following an internal investigation Dallas ISD determined Dallas Madison High School played an ineligible player for the entire 2012-2013 and 20132014 basketball seasons, including the boys basketball state tournaments. The minimum penalty for allowing an ineligible player to participate is forfeiture of the contests in which the player participated. Dallas ISD has indicated to the UIL that it has accepted the minimum penalty, and has therefore
forfeited the 2013 and 2014 Conference 3A titles. Houston Yates High School was the state runner-up to Dallas Madison in both the 2013 and 2014 state championship games and will now be designated by the UIL as the state champion. The games will be listed as a 20 wins in favor of Houston Yates in tournament records, and all state tournament records set by those games will be expunged. As part of its investigation, Dallas ISD also concluded that Dallas Hutchins played an ineligible player the entire 20132014 boys basketball season and will forfeit all contests in which this student participated.

This small station wagon is simply a jewel for those who simply can’t afford an expensive automobile. To start with the new Fit should fit into even the smallest of budgets with a price tag of just over 21 Grand for this well equipped auto. The new Fit EX-L Navi we tested came with a 130 horse powered 1.5 Liter DOHC 16valve engine with I-VTEC 4cylinder Direct injection. Drive by wire throttle system and electric power assisted rack and pinion steering coupled with front MacPherson front Strut suspension and rear torsion beam suspension. Throw in immobilizer theft deterrent system and ECO Assist system Now all this with Earth dreams technology and paddle shifter continuously variable transmission. We are talking about 38 miles per gallon on the highway and 32 miles per gallon in the city. Real easy on the pocket book to say the least. Overall an estimate of 2.9 gallons per 100 miles driven, tell where can you
beat that? The new Honda Fit has only 5 per cent of its part from the United States and Canada while 70 per cent are from Mexico with the transmission built in Indonesia and the final assembly point in Celaya, Celaya Mexico. There is no shortage on safety in the new Honda Fit with driver and front passengers dual stage airbags, driver and front passenger side air bags plus side curtain airbags and roll over sensor. In addition to that the vehicle is equipped with anti-locking brakes with Brake Assist and electronic brake distribution and vehicle stability program. I know you are normally expecting us to be listing these features on a 50 thousand dollar luxury touring sedan. But we are talking about a 21 grand small station wagon here. The seats are leather trimmed and the steering wheel is leather wrapped as well. The interior is further enhanced by heated front seats and AM/FM/CD/MP3 Audio touch screen with 6 speakers and a 7-inch display audio with Honda Voice Recognition and rearview camera. Oh yes it also has SX Satellite radio with as well as HD radio and HD traffic with Bluetooth connect ability and much more.
All of this and the vehicle rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels and P 185/55R 16-inch All season tires. We better stop here because after
a while you might not want to believe all the rest of the standard features on this vehicle. So let’s just say if you are in need of an automobile and the pocket
book is a little thin visit you Honda dealer and simply ask for the new 2015 Honda Fit and we promise you it will fit your budget!

YATES SYLVESTER ARMSTONG IS THE ONE OTHERS QUARTERBACKS ARE JUDGED BY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View On July 23, 2014 former Jack Yates state championship Quarterback Sylvester Armstrong went to Glory land. After a period of illness Armstrong answered the call of the man above and is now calling the signals in Heaven. Speaking with Leon “Mr. Clean” Williams who was in the class of 1963 with Armstrong at Jack Yates and worked more than 25 years with him at Red Arrow, Carolina and ABF Freights line with Armstrong. “Yes Man, Big Grip was an all right guy and he never met a person he couldn’t strike up a conversation with”. Williams went on to say Armstrong was just a good as they said he was on the football team going unbeaten all the way to state in 1961 before losing in the title game, but came back and won the title the very next year. “He was the guy who answered the call when the late Andrew “Pat” Patterson ask for the smartest guy on the team to run in new color system offense. Armstrong who was playing guard at the time raised his hand and accepted the challenge and led the Lions offense. Fact is it was Armstrong who was throwing the football as Yates was beating Beaumont Charleston Pollard 30-0 with Big Bubba Smith on the team when the light went out at Jeppesen Stadium. Armstrong said he
didn’t need any lights to find good hands receiver on the other end of Armstrong passes. It all stated when a little kid name Sylvester was following Donald “Man Tag” Dickson around and he slipped into a Yates game. It was there Sylvester fell in love with the game of football. Rev. Donald R. Dickson who once returned a kickoff 106 yards for a score while at Yates a record that still stands today is now the pastor at Greater New Hope MBC. He spoke of Armstrong as a strong minded man who believed strongly in the Lord and was an outstanding Deacon during his years at Greater New Hope. Once Pat Patterson gave Armstrong the authority to change the plays at the line of scrimmage he went on from there. When Jack Yates won the state title in 1985 with Charles Price at the helm, Price mention to us that he wished he could have met Sylvester Armstrong. It just so happen we were able to arrange a meeting with the two title holding QBs and they really had a good long talk. That reminds me of the days in 1973 when I first met Sylvester Armstrong when he was interlining with Red Arrow and Dixie
Truck Line. We started talking sports and it was then he first told me of his great run some 11 years earlier. “I was winning state championships when you were still picking cotton, so you can’t tell me nothing about sports” Armstrong didn’t mind telling you off if he thought you were out of line. At that time I certainly was and he quickly put me in my place and we went on to become best of friends. As the years went by and once we were to work for the Houston Forward Times Armstrong and I still talked. “I’m the one the others are judged by, don’t you forget that and you might someday be a pretty good writer if you continue to work hard at it”. So I went to the later Varee Shields and Bud Johnson and asked them just how good was this Armstrong guy. Both agreed he was the best and a legend in his playing days. Time past and we got involved with the PVILCA and dominated Sylvester Armstrong for the Hall of Fame and he was accepted in 2005. After joining the organization in 1983 we had the best banquet to date that year and Armstrong was surrounded by people who hadn’t seen him in years. With his 1963 Yates year book under his arm he met with the people and shared stories. He took one look at me and said; I told you if you keep at it you would good at what you
Sylvester Armstrong at 2005 PVILCA Banquet with Ed Roby
do”. Coming from “Big Grip” that was a honor within it self. He then told me I was making a mistake by not sticking with the Mason Lodge. The life and time of Sylvester Armstrong had many twists and turns and he made his mark everyone of them. After going to Southern University to play football for a while Armstrong joined the U S Navy for 3 years, then went to work for the Post Office before working as a driver for Red Arrow, Carolina and ABF. He married Gloria RobertsonArmstrong and they had three children. As his health begin to fail him it was Gloria who nursed him back to health. Then he was able to continue hunting which he was one of the best at White Wing Doves, Axes Deer and white-tail deer to name a few. Golfing was another of Armstrong hobbies and he use to love to see Jack Nickolas swing the club. “The Golden Bear is the way I pattern my game after Armstrong said. Later in life Armstrong moved over to Antioch Missionary
Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. F. N. Williams Shortly after that he married Traci Lynn in August of 2007. Together they shared a lifestyle that showed the true meaning of love and devotion and it lasted until Armstrong passed away. The grand children loved him as they called him Chug and he always encouraged them to be their best. Among the honors for Armstrong included Worshipful Master in Houston Mason Lodge # 200 AF & AM for many years as a 33rd degree Mason. The City of Houston Free Tee Golf Instructor and Mentor over the years also. Leaving to mourn Armstrong passing is a hosts of family members, teammates, Deacons, Hunting buddies and cousins and friends. We can safely say Armstrong made his presence felt in all walks of life and anyone who came in contact with him grew to love him. Let me say is closing it was an honor to have known Sylvester Armstrong and I will certainly miss him!

INDEPENDENT HEIGHTS REDEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OFFERING FALL BASEBALL LEAGUE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View With the sun beaming down hot a small group of kids came out to Independent Heights Park to work out as a Select team. Coaches Derrick Porter a Eisenhower graduate who played with Thomas Hendricks in the late 90s working with the kids on drills. Porter was joined on the field by Cold Springs native Justin Scott and the two men worked on several fundamentals with the kids. Hitting drills and so forth as the sun continued to beam down. The city of Houston and the Houston Astro Organization and looking to build on programs like this one through out the city of Houston. We were impressed with the time these young men put in with these kids. The Fall schedule is out for the Houston Eagles with most of their games being played at Doss Park off Frick Road near the Veteran Cemetery on Veteran Memorial. Games are already scheduled for September 7th-9th, 21st and 28th. It continues on October 5th, 10th-12th and 19th. Games will be played at Sunnyside Park off 288 South on September
28th and October 12th. The season ending tournament will be played on November 7th-9th. For more information contact coach Derrick Porter at (713) 259-5126 or email him at Derrick372002@yahoo.com Porter staff includes De Andre “D.D.” Lewis former Aldine football great, Sean Washington former Waltrip football great, Justin Scott a native of Cold Springs, Ed Gidrey and Roderick Maxie, and Termetrice Gibbons serves as the team Mom. This 10 and Under age groups kids are getting a golden opportunity to learn the game of baseball and that’s a good thing for the community as a whole. In a state where football is King it is rewarding to see people work to help keep the great American Past Time alive in well. Because at one time the Negro League was the largest sporting event in America. At some points drawing crowds of 60,000 people at the Polo Grounds in the early 40s. The ideal is to get more youth involved in the sport and try to rebuild the interest in the inner Cities throughout America!

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK CALEB GIDREY-ST. AMBROSE While visiting the Independent Heights Redevelopment Council Park (IHRC) we ran into to Caleb Gidrey. The mild-mannered kid attends St. Ambrose Academy and loves playing baseball in his spare time. His older brother is former P.V. football standout (Ed Gidrey), who coaches with the Studewood Cobras. But baseball is Caleb first love and he says Boston Red Sox Slugger David Ortiz is his favorite Major League player. He went on to say he loves the way the big guy swings the bat and the results he gets as of his powerful swing. “He is a big bat guy and he strikes fear in the pitchers mind whenever he is at the plate.”
competition Caleb is one coaches Justin Scott and Derrick Porter’s top prospects as the season draws near. Considered one of the best all around players in the league this kid has the big leagues written
It’s truly good to see a talented kid like Caleb pick baseball over football and if more kids came to the diamond it could get back to what it once was in our community. In closing please allow me to add players like Caleb with the right amount of good coaches could very well grow up and play in the big leagues!
Caleb loves Math best in the classroom and is an outstanding student at St. Ambrose. On the Houston Eagles select team as they prepare for Fall

READY OR NOT CHANGE IS COMING SOON! By Big John Chandler A King-Size View One thing I was taught very early by my beloved mother many, many years ago that the only constant thing in life is change. We have seen how the National Football League responded to the complaints and lawsuits from ex-players regarding concussions and numerous injuries and how it has dropped to younger athletes. Well the state of California has just passed a law limiting tackling in practice for high school football players to twice weekly for an hour each during those two practices. I'm not shocked by this and I believed something like this would happen sooner or later. The report I read said safety was the lead concern. In fact one person quoted in the story stated 'tackling is not a major part of football anyway'. I couldn't stop laughing but I had too because of how serious this is. Dear readers no one else will say what I'm about to say but here it is fasten your safety belts: poor tacking is the reason for so
many injuries. Some of the blame falls on the NFL. Yes all of you NFL fans, the league sold billions of dollars on DVDs of violent hits by players and fans rushed to buy these DVDs with ill regard to the safety of the athletes. Proper and safe tackling techniques are not today’s football players. I was never taught to hit someone with the crown (top) of my helmet. I was taught to bend down, use my arms to wrap the ball carrier up and to bring him down. Why is this so hard to teach now? Little league kids can get seriously hurt by not learning to tackle correctly. Is it any wonder we are seeing a massive increase in 'soccer moms'? I have a lost a lot of interest in the NFL: I see it as a business first. They only care about the dollars fans spend on their games and products. My major concern now is for our young athletes and the game I loved for so long. Parents, be sure your sons are taught the right way to tackle for their protection and the other players also. Will we see laws like the one passed in California come to Texas and other states?
Remember…my mother's life lesson I was taught-the only thing constant is change. Just be ready when you hear these proposals. That's just the way I see it! It’s been six years since my mother died, yet it still feels like yesterday. I can’t deny how much I miss her. My love for her is deeper now than everHAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

BROWN PELICANS A couple of years ago I had a part time job driving passengers to the cruise terminal in Galveston from the airports. Every time I got crossed Causeway Bridge a flock of brown pelicans would swoop beside my bus providing a great welcome for my passengers. It was like they were putting on a show for me. I would announce their presence for them to enjoy. For many it was their first experience with these graceful birds. There are actually several species of brown pelicans in the world. They are one of the few birds that are strictly a marine habitat. Rarely are they seen more than 20 miles from sea or inland fresh water. They prefer shallow waters such as estuaries and shallow bays. The most distinguishing feature of this bird is their long beak, ranging from 10 to 20 inches in length. They have very short legs and all four toes are webbed to make swimming easer. With a wingspan that can run well over six feet wide, they are graceful fliers and enjoy gliding on air currents
while searching for food. Brown pelicans feed on midsized fish that they capture by diving from above then scooping or dipping the fish into their pouch, which acts as a flexible dip net. Although they do feed on anchovies and sardines most of their prey has little commercial value. This makes them no threat to commercial fishermen. They are the only species of pelican that hunts with dramatic plunging dives. Sometimes they will dive completely under the water momentarily before resurfacing with their catch. After capturing the fish they rise to the surface and drain the water from their pouch. The point the bill up and swallow their catch. Often seagulls will steal the catch right out of the pouch of the pelican. The pelican’s beak can “really hold more than its bellycan.” The pouch holds about three gallons, the stomach about one gallon. They also consume some invertebrates. It is not uncommon to see them on wharfs, docks and fishing boats dining
STUDENT OF THE WEEK JULIAN SCOTT-BETHUNE ACADEMY Dr. Victor Keys and I went over to the Independent Height Park and took in a little baseball as their Houston Eagles Select team worked out for Fall play. One of the guys we took a look at was Julian Vince Scott a 4th grader at Bethune Academy in Aldine ISD. The A and B student favors Math. ‘I just love doing addition and multiplying numbers”. The baseball pitchers says he believes he can get all batters out if he think strongly and throws the right pitches. His coaches backed him up on that when they told me he had 9 strikes outs and even pitched a No Hitter this year already. On Sundays you’ll find Christina and Justin Scott and
rest of the Scott family over at Lakewood Church. According to Julian he gets a good feeling each time he attends the services and he says it makes his day goes better. Justin Scott attended Cold Spring High School in his young days and says he love working with these kids to keep baseball alive. You san see the love of the game in Julian eyes as he slid into home plate after a hit put him on first base and a an error allowed him to score. In his spare time he loves to read and says he would love to play in the big leagues someday. His favorite baseball player is Houston Astro second baseman Jose Altuve.
on scraps. When I first came to Texas in 1990 I remembered hearing that the brown pelicans were nearing extinction. Much of this was caused by the use of pesticides such as DDT and dieldrin in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Studies showed that the use of these products caused the egg’s shell too thin to the point that it would not sustain the chick until it was ready to hatch. In 1972 Florida banned the use of DDT followed closely by the rest of the country. This caused the populations of both the brown and white pelicans to soar. Since the population has increased the bird is no listed as “least concerned” which is a major upgrade in threat level. The current population is estimated to be n excess of 650,000 adult birds. Pelicans nest in colonies, often on islands. The males pick out the sites and preform an advertising display to attract a willing Crediting his Mom (Christina) as his most driving force in life, Julian says she gets with him if things are not well in the classroom. “My class work comes first and my Mom sees to it I do well before I have a chance to go out and play baseball and football”.

female. After they bond, communication between them is minimal. Most birds nest in March or April. The young hatch in clusters of two or three. It takes about 35 days for a young pelican to walk independently and will not leave the nest for 68-88 days. During this time they are fed fish by their mother by regurgitation. Alligators will sometimes feed on young pelicans. In Galveston, Pelican Island, which is part of the City of Galveston, was named because it is a huge breeding ground for the pelicans. North of Seawolf Boulevard human access is restricted so the birds may bread and nest in peace. It is one of largest breeding grounds in the area for the formerly near extinct bird. This island is a very interesting mix of marine life and commercial enterprise. The brown pelican is a beautiful and graceful bird in the air, often swooping in clusters searching for food. On the ground it is clumsy and ungainly. Along the back side of the island it is not uncommon to see them perched on pilings watching life go by. It is hard to watch them and not think of the wise birds in the cartoon movie Finding Nemo. The producers of the movie seemed ot capture the grace, elegance and wisdom of these beautiful creatures. good guy and easy going, Julian added he feels good about his life and would only try to be an even better person if he had it to do over again!
to make the major Leagues he would build his parents a big home and donate funds to help rebuild Houston’s baseball parks so kids will have good fields to play baseball on!
In closing Julian said if he were

WHAT IS TRUTH? GOD HATH CHOSEN! Dear reader, have you ever wondered why there are so many religious leaders teaching PROSPERITY in this world? Is it because of some personal agenda? 1 Tim 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, (1)supposing that (2)gain is godliness: from such (3)withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 2 Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through(4)covetousness shall they with (5)feigned words (6)make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Definitions:(1)supposing that3543 nomizo (nom-id’-zo); from 3551; properly, to do by law (usage), i.e. to accustom (passively, be usual); by extension, to deem or regard1) to hold by custom or usage, to own as a custom or usage, to follow a custom or usage; it is the custom, it is the received usage : KJV— suppose, thing, be wont……(2)gain is godliness4200 porismos (por-is-mos’); from a derivative of poros (a way, i.e. means); furnishing (procuring), i.e. (by implication) money-getting (acquisition) 2) source of gain: KJV— gain……(3) from such withdraw thyself-868 aphistemi (afis’-tay-mee); from 575 and 2476; to remove, i.e. (actively) instigate to revolt; usually (reflexively) to desist, desert, etc.: KJV— depart, draw (fall) away, refrain, withdrawself……(4) through covetousness-4124 pleonexia (pleh-onex-ee’-ah); from 4123; avarice, i.e. (by implication) fraudulency, extortion, greedy desire to have more: KJV— covetous (-ness) practices, greediness……(5)feigned words-4112 plastos (plas-tos’); from 4111; moulded, i.e. (by

We know not what their agendas are, but we know the Lord loves us and has but one agenda; “2 Pet 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to (1)repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy (1)conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” Definitions: (1) all should come to repentance-3341 metanoia (met-an’-oy-ah); from 3340; (subjectively) compunction (for guilt, including reformation); by implication reversal (of [another’s] decision), a change of mind (heart): KJV— repentance. (2)all holy conversation-391 anastrophe (an-as-trof-ay’); from 390; manner of life, conduct, behavior, deportment: KJV— conversation. There are so many warnings in the apostle’s doctrine, against; being conformed to this WORLD (Rom.12:1-2), loving this world and the things that are in it (1John2:15-17), loving our life here (John12:25-26), minding HIGH things (Rom.12:16), or EARTHLY, TEMPORAL, (SECULAR) things (Phil.3:1620; Col.3:1-4; 2Cor.4:18; 5:16)? The Lord warns us, that HE HAVE NOT CHOSEN these things. We believe by scripture these warnings are given by GOD through CHRIST and his apostles, to the Church that Christ is building and is the HEAD of. If we profess to be of Christ and have been baptized into Christ according to the scriptural pattern, thereby put-
ting on Christ, we MUST heed these warnings, to be right (righteous) with GOD. Lord willing for this month and next, we will attempt by scripture, to study in depth the things GOD HATH CHOSEN, thereby understanding the things He have not chosen and to close with WHY. Remember, the purpose of these articles is to share with you some scriptural truths, thereby exposing error, as we search for “What is Truth”. Again, we believe through the preponderance of scripture (which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture) and definitions on any topic, allows scripture to interpret scripture. This should also allow for a better understanding on that topic. Please get your bible and follow this study; The Lesson: GOD HATH CHOSE !

(KJV) Isa 29:19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (KJV) Zeph 3:12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD. (KJV) Matt 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were
fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. (KJV) Matt 9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. (KJV)
Matt 21:1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an (1)ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.(KJV) Definitions: (1)an ass-3688 onos (on’-os); apparently a primary word; a donkey: KJV— an ass. Dear reader, think about it, if GOD had chosen a chariot or men bearers for His Son the King, do we not think that, that is exactly what he would have had? He did not have it simply because his Father did not choose it. This was done for an example for those of Christ to follow, MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS. Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, (1)let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself (2)of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,

GOD HATH CHOSEN! CONT. even the death of the cross.
he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
Definitions:(1)let him deny himself-720 arneomai (ar-neh’om-ahee); perhaps from 1 (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of 4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, abnegate a) to disregard one’s own interests b) to act entirely unlike himself, to refuse something offered: KJV— deny, refuse…. (2)of no reputation-2758 kenoo (ken-o’-o); from 2756; to make empty, i.e. (figuratively) to abase, neutralize; used of Christ: he laid aside equality with or the form of God: KJV— make (of none effect, of no reputation, void).
Luke 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Luke 2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a (1)manger; because there was no room for them in (2)the inn.(KJV) Definitions:(1)manger-5336 phatne (fat’-nay);from pateomai (to eat); a crib (for fodder) A trough or an open box in which feed for livestock is placed: KJV— manager, stall……(2)the inn-2646 kataluma (kat-al’-oomah); from 2647; properly, a dissolution (breaking up of a journey), i.e. (by implication) a lodging-place1) an inn, lodging place 2) an eating room, dining room: KJV— guestchamber, inn. Again, think about it, if GOD had chosen an Inn for His Son, the King, to be born in, do we not think He would have made room in the Inn. He was born in a feed trough simply because his Father chose not the Inn, but the feed trough. Again this was for an example for those of Christ to follow, MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS. It is so strange how we miss the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus. Jesus explained how we error; “Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Note also what the Lord and savior said “Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. He practiced what he preached didn’t he; then those that proclaim to belong to Christ MUST also follow him, and PRACTICE what HE PREACHED through his apostles. 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That
The Son of man, The KING, The Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST had NOT where to lay His head because, his Father did not CHOOSE it. But, rather chose a SUFFERING LIFESTYLE (see Isaiah 53:112) of MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS, for His Son and he OBEYED unto death; even the death of the cross. “Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” “ Phil 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;” Dear reader, please LISTEN again to what CHRIST said, so we will know what God Hath Chosen; “Matt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” “Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.” “ Mark 9:43 And if thy hand (1)offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it
out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Definition:(1)offend thee-4624 skandalizo (skan-dal-id’-zo) (“scandalize”); from 4625; to entrap, i.e. trip up (figuratively, stumble [transitively] or to entice to sin, apostasy or displeasure) b) to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and OBEY 1) to cause to fall away: KJV— (make to) offend. Again those that profess to be in Christ; (Gal 3:27 For as many of you as (1)have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.), have been warned NOT to love the world, neither the things that are in it. We MUST conclude according to scripture, it is because God hath NOT chosen it and neither it’s WISDOM. Definition:(1)have been baptized into-907 baptizo (bap-tid’zo); from a derivative of 911; to immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. (KJV) Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.(KJV) Mark 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.(KJV) Luke 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt
have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (see also Matt 19:23-25- Mark 10:23-27) 1 Cor 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. 11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.(KJV) 2 Cor 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;(KJV) 2 Cor 10:10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech (1)contemptible. (KJV) Definition:(1)Contemptible1848 exoutheneo (ex-oo-then-

(KJV) Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.(KJV) James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised (1)to them that love him? TO THEM THAT LOVE HIM-“I Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought
himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (See also 2Peter 3:1-2) James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with (1)meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the (2)truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is (3)earthly, sensual, devilish.(KJV) Definitions:(1)meekness of wisdom-4240 prautes (prah-oo’tace); from 4239; mildness, i.e. (by implication) humility: KJV— meekness….(2)the truth-see John 17:1620….(3)Earthly-1919 epigeios (ep-ig’-i-os);from 1909 and 1093; worldly (physically or morally): KJV— earthly, in earth, terrestrial. 1 Pet 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. I Jn 2:15 (1)Love not the (2)world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the (3)love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.(KJV) Definitions:(1)Love NOT-25 agapao (ag-ap-ah’-o); perhaps
