GMC YUKON XL DENALI 4WD Dallas, Texas-Having the make a business trip to Dallas, the GMC XL Denali 4WD certainly came in handy. With it’s 31 gallon fuel tank and pretty good fuel consumption made for few stops. Yes the full luxury Denali 4WD model we tested came with a powerful 6.2 Liter Ecotec 3 engine that produces 420 horsepower at 5600 RPM and 460 pounds per foot of torque. This vehicle still managed 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway. We are talking top of the line here and 60 per cent of all GMC sales are the Denali models. Let us not forget we are talking about a vehicle with price tag of over 78 Grand and based on our test it’s worth every cent! While talking about the engine let us add it’s mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission with magnetic ride control and auto locking rear differential and a two speed transfer case complete
with trailer sway control. Duralife brake rotors and automatic rear load leveling, plus trailer brake controller with front and rear park assist. Towing capacity for the 4WD is 7,900 pounds. Safety is at a high premium with the Denali models as well as it gets a 4-star overall rating from the NHTSA. Frontal crashed gets four stars for driver and front passenger while the side crashes rates a 5-star for both front and rear riders, but only a 3-star rating in rollover risk in single vehicle crash. A segment first front seat center air bag with bucket seats models and addenda standard air bags include head curtain side air bags and seat mounted sideimpact air bags. A Standard safety alert seat that vibrates when a potential crash threat is detected. That’s new and man it gets your attention to say the least on the matter. There is also
adaptive cruise Control and crash imminent braking. The new Denali XL is also equipped with standard side blind zone alert, lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert and forward collision alert with lane departure warning. The rearview camera system and StabiliTrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology rounds it out! The new Denali XL rolls on 22inch performance tires wrapped around Aluminum wheels with painted inserts. A Heads-up display, power retractable running boards, automatically adjust speed, power sun roof and rear entertainment system add to the
Denali Premium Package. This also marked the first time we actually used the cool front bucket seats. With the temperature going over 100 degrees that day in Dallas it came in handy. Inside the new GMC the driver is automobile heaven or as so would call it Cowboy heaven. Plenty of room to stretch out and let the hammer down. The head room 42.8 upfront second row 39.1 front seat leg room 45.3 and second row 39.7 taking two six feet 3 tall guys with me on the trip and everyone had plenty of room. Cargo max out at 121.1 Cubic feet and the 130
inch wheel base makes for a smooth ride. The second and third row seats fold-flat for those who are riding with two people and have large cargo. Technology sound with Onstar 4G LTE WI-FI Hotspot with 3GB/3months data trial and 6th month Onstar directions and connections with automatic crash response and turn-by-turn In closing please allow me to add the 10-speaker Bose Centerpoint surround sound audio system with active noise cancellation made the trip a breeze!

HOME GROWN MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER SPORT A QUALITY PRODUCT By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE 2WD 4-door SUV is continuing to climb the ladder into the segment upper end. With the final assembly point in Normal, Illinois the Outlanders is making a name for itself. With only 29 per cent of its part from the U.S. and Canada the vehicle had 49 per cent of its part from Japan as we both the engine and transmissions are from Japan as well. Mitsubishi is joining Toyota is building a lot of products right here in the U.S. even though they still have parts from all over the World. Power for the new Outlander is a 2.0 Liter MIVEC DOHC inline four banger with good pep and it’s mated to a continuously variable transmission. Sure footed P225/55R 18 inch All-Season tires neatly wrapped around an alloy wheel. Numbers for the Outlander is 32 miles on the highway and 25 in the city for a combine 28 miles per gallon. That’s great when you consider our test vehicle fully equipped is price at 25,745. Including more
than 2,100 in optional equipment. When it comes to warranties the Mitsubishi Motor company stands beside their product with a whopping 10 year 100,000 mile power train warranty and a 7 year, 100,000 mile Anti corrosion perforation with a 5-year 60,000 mile new vehicle warranty and 5 year unlimited roadside assistance. Did you see that and keep in mind we are talking about a vehicle with MSRP of under 23 grand. Let us not forget we are talking about tough times and those who are in the market should take a look at this vehicle before you buy a small SUV. Sound systems play a big role in making your choice if you are going to be behind the wheel of your vehicle long periods at a time. So Mitsubishi took care of that with a 140-Watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with 6 speakers. Add Sirius XM Satellite radio with 3-month subscription, Digital HD radio and PUSE hand free link system with Bluetooth. All this operates with a 6.1 inch touch panel display audio system.
On the subjects of other interior functions the new Outlander has one touch start/stop engine switch, power door locks and side-view mirrors as well as rearview camera. Don’t forget we are talking about a small SUV here not a luxury touring sedan. The front door has storage bins for bottle holders and pocket tissue and pen holders, now that’s thinking of just about everything. On the safe side the Outlander get a 4-star rating from the
NHTSA with four stars for frontal crashes for driver and front passenger and five star rating for both front and rear passengers in side crashed. The unit get a 4-star in single vehicle rollovers. These are all good ratings for the Governmental agency that rates these vehicles. A full list of air bags are standard equipments including driver knee air bags. Throw in Hill Start Assist, anti-locking brakes with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. You all know this is what you are use
to reading about on performance sport sedans with big price tags. But that one of the reasons we are so high on this model because it had a full-array of solid features that are standard and the price is very affordable! Driver and front passengers are treated to heated front seats with premium fabric trimming. Eight way manual driver seat and a four way manual adjustable front passenger seat. In closing lets just say the chrome-plated interior door handles just really catches my eye!

The Direct Ignition SOHC 3.5 liter 24-valve VTEC V6 engine with Variable cylinder management gets you up and going in no time. RAM PROMASTER CITY WAGON SLT READY TO GO TO WORK By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View This week we went for a spin in a very different kind of vehicle and found it to be very practical and functional. Yes I’m talking about the new Ram Promaster City Wagon SLT. Having looks of your normal AC repairman vehicle the new City Wagon came equipped with plenty of cargo carrying support system. Such as tie down hooks and panel loading racks over all the place. Built for what American love in a real utility vehicle the new Promaster City Wagon has only 34 per cent of its parts from the United States and Canada with 44 from Turkey and 18 per cent from Italy. The final assembly point is Bursa, Turkey while both the engine and transmission are built right here in the United
States. A 2.4 liter in-line four cylinder provides enough power to get the vehicle up and rolling pretty good. While a new 9-speed 948TE FWD automatic transmission helps to take the numbers up to 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 in the city for a combine 24 miles per gallon overall economy. Two cargo doors on each side provided plenty of room for cargo and the rear doors swung open allowing more room to load large objects. There is also plenty of room between seats reminding you of the old days but no transmission hump for those of you who go back that far. You know the days when vehicle had a big hump down the middle for the rear wheel transmission link. Well front wheel drive took care of that problem didn’t it? Despite the fact the vehicle had
work truck written allover it from the outside. But once you were inside you found some of the things like leather wrapped steering wheel and tilt and telescopic feature. Plus driver lumbar support and height adjustable seats with armrest. Oh yeh the new Promaster City
Wagon even has front overhead storage bins. How thoughtful of Ram as they basically thought of just about everything while putting this vehicle together. On the outside the Wagon has some flare as well with Bodyside molded in color molding and body color fascias. Power
heated exterior mirror with manual fold-away feature and deep tint sunscreen glass. In closing please allow me to add the new Promaster City Wagon comes with a 5-year or 100,000 mile power train warranty! Our test vehicle came in at just under 28 Grand.

A RISING STAR CAMERON LAVERGNE - BTW By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Lady Eagles of Booker T. Washington high school hope to fly high in several sports this school year. Thanks to a star on the rise in senior Cameron Lavergne. The lovely and talented senior does well in volleyball, basketball, soft ball and track and field. Over the years the lady Eagles had some of the best dating back to the mid-eighties when Monica Norman did her thing in four sports. Having played club ball Lavergne is a big help for first year coach De’Aundra Thomas. With only 6 players the Lady Eagles put up a good fight in the HISD pre-season volleyball tournament. Cameron is the captain of the squad and she was an easy pick for All-Tournament selection. “I knew my role would be one of leadership this
year and the one who would push us. She went on to say she tries to motivate the Lady Eagles to be their best at all times. Adding the team needs more work but they are pleased with their efforts in this tournament. Coach Thomas added he feels Cameron desire to win helps make his team show a lot of fight and they are looking forward to making another good showing. Last year’s team made the playoffs but Cameron is looking for a stronger finish this year. In the district with Furr, Wheatley, Sterling, Navasota and Sealy with only four teams making the playoffs. In closing Cameron added Math is her favorite subject at BTW and she sees Environmental engineer as a possible College major. Eliminating Childhood Obesity is another of Lavergne goals in life!

JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE 4 X 4 OFFERS GOOD ECONOMY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View In these days and times when every dollar counts we find it comforting to know the new 2015 Jeep Compass Latitude 4X4 has some great numbers. The 2.4 liter in-line 4 cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine with VVTI cranks out 21 miles per gallon in the city and 27 on the highway for a combine average of 23 miles per gallon. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and yes it has 5-year or 100,000 miles power train warranty. A 3-year or 36,000 mile basic limited warranty as well as 5-year or 100,000 mile Roadside Assistance with certain restrictions. Our test vehicle came in a Billet Silver-Metallic exterior paint with a Dark Slate gray interior for a great color scheme. Power came thrusting to the road on P215/55R 18 BSW All-Season Performance tires circulating
around a 18x7.0 inch aluminum Chrome Clad Wheel. When you take into consideration this vehicle sales for just over 30 Grand but actually started out with a base price of 25 Grand, these are great economically sound numbers. Functional safety features include advance Multi-stag air bags up front and supplemental side-curtain front air bags and active headrest. However the NHTSA gave his vehicle only a 3-star when it comes to frontal crashes for both driver and front passenger. It was rated with a 4star as it relates to single vehicle roll over crashes. No overall rating nor was there a rating for the side crashes either. HONDA PILOT ELITE MOVES UP IN CLASS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Entering the market place a few years ago as a small SUV, but there is nothing small about the 2016 Honda Pilot AWD Elite. The vehicle is clearly a solid mid-size SUV with all the trimming normally found in more expensive models. However the model we tested came in at just over 47 Grand. To begin with the new Pilot has 75 per cent of its parts from the United States and Canada with the engine and transmission both built in the U.S. and the final assembly point is Lincoln Alabama. It’s kind of hard to be more home grown than that. Speaking of engine the Pilot is powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5 Liter SOHC 24-valve I-TEC Direct Injection V6 engine. Cranking out good solid numbers with 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the
highway with a combine mileage of 22 MPG. This baby has Earth Dreams Technology and variable cylinder management and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Hold on a minute let’s go back to VCM, which means the vehicle operates on 4 cylinders when needed and moves to 6 cylinders when more power is needed. Keep in mind all this is done electronically and the driver is in command at all times. Honda IVTM4 all-wheel drive system is enhanced by intelligent traction management complete with Hill Start assist and electric power assisted rack and pinion steering. Again we say features are more commonly found on vehicles with a much bigger price tags. We can safely say that the competition has certainly given auto buyers more bang for their
bucks these days. Once you are inside the new 2016 Pilot the driver it treated to a 10-way power seat with the front passenger getting a 4-way power seat. Both seated are heated as well as the steering wheel for those of you who are in cold weather states. Leather trimmed interior goes well with a leather wrapped steering wheel. Entertainment comes from a AM/FM/CD/HD Premium Audio system with 10-speakers and an 8-inch display screen.
Sure this has satellite-linked Navigation and XM Satellite radios with free activation good for the first three months. Other technical features such as power moon roof with tilt feature along with Panoramic roof giving you a good solid view above. The second row captain chairs is another indication of how the Pilot has grown. The third row seats surly fold creating a great deal of cargo space. Keep in mind the Pilot is not without style to go along with all its practical features. Power
rolls to the pavement on 245/50 R20-inch All season Tires wrapped around a set of Bright and Shinning 20 X 8 alloy wheels. The multi-rear camera and a 4.2 inch multi-information display with Blu-Ray/DVD rear entertainment system with 9 inch display with wireless headphones is all Good! We could go on and on, but we think it’s best if you are in the market simply visit your local Honda dealer and check out the new 2016 Pilot Elite!

WHAT IS TRUTH? TITHES What is Truth? John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy Word is truth.”
Please get your Bibles and follow this study! Tithing...has it ever been authorized by Jesus Christ, through his Apostles, to be observed by Christians? Dear reader, it is again a privilege and I hope, a blessing, to be able to share some scriptural truths with you. Let us now get to this month’s study, “Tithing”. In the religious world today, we believe there are many things taught and practiced that are not authorized by Jesus Christ through his Apostles. We believe that tithing is one of them. The Apostle Paul wrote to The Church in Thessalonica, to “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” (1Thes.5:21). All things must be proven [to test, try, examine, to approve and to allow] by Christ, by those proclaiming to be Christians. After proving it, if it is good according to Christ and or his Apostles, keep it, teach it, practice it. God left instructions on how to be right [righteous] with Him, that all must hear his only begotten Son, and Him only (Matt.17:1-8; 1John- 4:9). We must remember that Jesus, as he prayed to his Father in heaven, also left instructions on how to believe on him and that is through the Apostle’s words (John 17:20 “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”) We find no command, custom nor instructions on tithing, given by the apostles; given to the Church that Christ is building. We do find the customs, commands and instructions of tithing given to those that were under the Old Law. These instructions were given by God through Moses, for The Law was given by Moses (John 1:17). As you read, you will see these were specific instructions, specific commands given to a specific People. When the people of God, under Moses, obeyed the commandment of tithing, this made them right [righteous] with God. When reading, carefully note the definitions and also note to whom and by whom this was given. Note the precise instructions of tithing, given to those under The Old Law. If you have read carefully, hopefully you noticed that the Apostles, Christians, or the Church that Christ is building are not mentioned once in the previous scriptures. This is because they cannot be found anywhere in The Old Testament. So then the commandment to observe tithing, has never been given to those of the Church that Christ is building (Matt.16:1318; Acts 2:47); those that have been buried with Christ, and have put on Christ in baptism (Gal.3:26-29) [Christians]. Even in the New Testament scriptures given below, if read carefully, you will find the same results. You will find the Lord Jesus teaching the unbelieving Jews, trying to convert them into Christianity. You will also find references to the Old Law, but nothing to the Church that Christ is building. Definition: (#3) Tithe- (586) apodekatoo-1) to give, to pay a tithe of anything 2) to receive one-tenth from anyone Matt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay (#3)tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (KJV) Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye (#3)tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (KJV) Luke 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give

(#3)tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.(KJV)
Heb 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take (#3)tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:(KJV) Definition: (#4) Tithe - (1181) dekate- a tenth part of anything, a tithe a) the tenth party of booty taken from an enemy b) the tithes of fruits of the earth and of flocks, which by the Law of Moses were presented to the Levites in the congregation of Israel (#5) Tithe - (1183) dekatoo (dek-at-o’-o); from 1181; to tithe, i.e. to give or take a tenth: KJV— pay (receive) tithes.1) to exact or receive the tenth part Heb 7:8 And here men that die receive (#4) tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth (#4) tithes, payed (#5) tithes in Abraham.(KJV) Remember, Christ Jesus left instructions to his Apostles for all things that are to be observed, by the Church that he is building. The blueprint is in the apostle’s doctrine, which is in New Testament scriptures. This is also the one church that is HIS body and the one that he is the HEAD of. The Apostles being guided by The Holy Ghost; “the Comforter” passed these instructions on to us in THEIR writings. We must never forget the order of things, please read! Matt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.(KJV) Matt 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did
shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three (1)tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.(KJV)
Difinition: (1)three tabernacles 4633 skene-2) used of that wellknown movable temple of God after the pattern of which the temple at Jerusalem was built….. Matt 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.KJV) 1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.(KJV) Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.(KJV)

TITHES CONTINUED Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the (1)preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.(KJV) Definition:(1) the preeminence 4409 proteuo (prote-yoo’-o); from 4413; to be first (in rank or influence) , to hold the first place: KJV— have the preeminence…..4413 protos (pro’-tos); contracted superlative of 4253; foremost (in time, place, order or importance), 1) first in time or place; in any succession of things or persons 2) first in rank a) influence, honor b) chief c) principal 3) first, at the first: KJV— before, beginning, best, chief (-est), first (of all), former. As we like to say, Christ, Christ, Christ, Christ, Christ through his Apostles (John 17:14-21), nothing more, nothing less, NO ONE ELSE, according to The Father which is in HEAVEN! (Matt.17:1-8; 28:16-20; John 8:54-59; Eph.1:20-23; Col.1:1420 etc.) 2 Pet 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,(KJV) I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (KJV) We believe it is now scripturally clear, that Jesus did not leave any instructions or commands of tithing to his body, the Church. This being true, why are so many in the religious world today, teaching and demanding such? Christians must continue steadfastly in the Apostles’ doctrine just as those
A King-Size View Christians before us (read Acts2:41-42). Do we error because we know not the scriptures, nor the power of God (Matt.22:29), or is it because of greed that one would teach in error tithing [a tenth part] or pledging? Is merchandise made of members, because of the love of money, (read 2Pet.2:1-9)? The man of God must flee these things, according to the Apostle Paul, as he taught the young minister Timothy (please read, 1Tim.6:3-21). Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.(KJV) 2 Pet 2:3 And through (1)covetousness shall they with (2)feigned words make (3)merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (please get your bible and read verses 1 thru 9) (KJV) Definitions:(1) covetousness 4124 pleonexia (pleh-on-ex-ee’ah); from 4123; avarice, i.e. (by implication) fraudulency, extortion: KJV— covetous (-ness) practices, greediness.greedy desire to have more (2) feigned words-4112 plastos (plas-tos’); from 4111; moulded, i.e. (by implication) artificial or (figuratively) fictitious (false): KJV— feigned. (3) merchandise 1710 emporeuomai- to use a person or a thing for gain 1 Tim 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (please get your bible and read verses 3 thru 21)(KJV) If we in the religious world today are going to teach in error (tithing), let us at least teach it as God in the Old Law commanded it. Let us accept in the treasury, along with money: seed, sheep, herbs, honey, oxen, mint, etc. We believe the point is understood. Now, let us read the instructions and commandments of finance given to the Church by Christ. These are given by Jesus Christ, the one that grace and truth came by (John1:17). Handed down to the Apostles, and then to us, and as we observe [obey] them, it will make Christians right [righteous] with God, as we abide in the Apostles’ Doctrine. Let us start first with the teaching of the Apostle Paul, in Acts the 20th chapter, as he was guided by The Holy Spirit. We believe that
Acts the 20th chapter, verses: 31-35 sets the tone of a Christian’s life and finances. Contrary to what most teach, it is a humble life of necessities. This life is financed by working with our hands to support our needs, to support the weak and needy saints, and to give to the poor. This is for all that proclaim to be Christians. The apostle Paul did it and according to scripture, we are to follow him and the other Apostles’, as they followed Christ (1Cor.11:1-2). Please read! Acts 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.(KJV) Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. 34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Please read also 1Cor.4:11-12, Eph.4:28) Rom 12:9 Let love be (1)without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 (2)Distributing to the (3)necessity of (4)saints; given to hospitality.(KJV) Definitions:(1)without dissimulation-505 anupokritos (an-oopok’-ree-tos); from 1 (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of 5271; undissembled, i.e. sincere: KJV— without dissimulation (hypocrisy), unfeigned. (2)Distributing to2841 koinoneo (koy-no-neh’-o); from 2844; to share with others (objectively or subjectively): KJV— communicate, distribute, be partaker. (3)necessity5532 chreia (khri’-ah); from the base of 5530 or 5534; employment, i.e. an affair; also (by
implication) occasion, demand, requirement or destitution: KJV— business, lack, necessary (-ity), need (-ful), use, want. (4)saints-40 hagios (hag’-eeos); from hagos (an awful thing) [compare 53, 2282]; sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated): KJV— (most) holy (one, thing), saint. As you have read and hopefully will continue to read the set of scriptures given below, you will find the purpose and order of the collection, given to the Church, by Christ, through the apostle Paul. This is the collection that is to be observed by Christians, thereby making them right [righteous] with God; not tithing, (the command Moses gave to the Israelites). The purpose of this collection is for the poor and needy saints, under New Testament rule. Tithes were given by the Israelites to the Levites for the poor and needy, under Old Testament rule, for they had no inheritance (Num.18:24-26). We will also see just how precise the instructions are to Christians, in the commandment of giving. They will also manifest the abuse that is caused when religious leaders teach in error, tithing and or pledging. Sure, those that have obeyed the scriptural form of doctrine (Rom.6:17), and have been buried with Christ, and have put on Christ in Baptism, are instructed to give. So giving must be taught, but it must be taught and practiced by New Testament scriptures. Please read carefully the instructions given by the Lord through the apostle Paul. Please note the definitions. 1 Cor 16:1 Now concerning the (1)collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem. (Please read also Acts11:28-30, Rom.15:2526, Galatians 2:10) (KJV) Definition: (1)Collection-3048 logia-a collection; used of money gathered for the relief of the poor In the collection for the saints, Christians must first have a willing mind, and it must be according to what they have, not according to what they have not. There are many struggling to pay their bills, because of many legitimate reasons such as: illnesses, medicine, fixed incomes, etc. So, to have religious leaders ask for their checks or check stubs, to impose the error of a tenth part of their earnings, or even a “pledge”, is abuse and is not according to New Testament
Page 12
instructions. We hope you will also note, after careful reading, that one is not to be burdened while the other is eased; that there must be equality. *It seems fair to say, one might struggle with having a willing mind, or not giving grudgingly, especially, when the ones that are imposing this error on them, are: dressing better, living better, and riding around better than they are. There are some that even have chauffeurs. Yet, those that are better off receive money from those that are struggling to give in the collection, which is error. Where is the equality? For religious leaders to live better than their members, is error and is not of the Church by Christ. Note again the Apostle Paul, one of the apostles Christians MUST follow :( see also 2Cor.12:14-15). 2 Cor 8:11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. 12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. 13 For I mean not that other men (1)be eased, and ye (2)burdened: 14 But by an (3)equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their (4)want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be (3)equality: 15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no (5)lack. He was assuring them that it was not of covetousness. In other words, he was not greedy, taking money for himself to put in his pocket. But that it was a BOUNTY, in other words, a chance to invoke a benefit, a BLESSING to those brothers and sisters that were POOR; thereby laying up treasures IN HEAVEN, NOT ON EARTH. Then in verse 6 he was also reminding them ALL that if they gave sparingly (because they were stingy), then those benefits and blessings to those brethren that were IN NEED, would be sparingly; thereby making our HEAVE LY TREASURES the same. The more we CA CHEERFULLY give, the more of our NEEDY brothers and sisters we can benefit “BLESS”, by SUPPLYING their LACK, and also supplying the NEEDS to SAVE SOULS; which is a GOOD WORK. The more we LOVE our brothers and sisters, and soul salvation, the more GOD LOVES US. 2 Cor 9: 5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your (1)bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of(1) bounty, and not as of (2)covetousness. 6 But this I say, He which soweth (3)sparingly shall (4)reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall (4)reap also (5)bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. 2 Cor 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I (1)seek not yours, but you: for the (2)children ought not (3)to lay up for the parents, but the (4)parents for the children. 15 And I will very gladly (5)spend and (6)be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.(KJV)
For one to teach the observance of TITHING one is a DEBTOR to teach CIRCUMCISION; ANIMAL SACRIFICES, STONINGS etc; in other words, the whole Law of Moses. Christians have never been under the bondage of the Old Law. “Acts 11:25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: 26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” Christ has freed all from that Law; “Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.” “Gal. 2:3 But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: 4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:” “Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” “Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a (1)debtor

I hope we are scripturally clear on this issue. To teach that “tithing is to be observed by Christians” is to teach error. We touched earlier on the similarity of the two: tithing of the Old Law, under Moses; and the collection for the saints, of the New Testament, under Jesus Christ. “Tithing...has it ever been authorized by Jesus Christ, through his Apostles, to be observed by Christians?” The scriptural answer to this question is, ABSOLUTELY OT!! Remember, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, which is false doctrine, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the O LY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect: 2 Tim 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (KJV) Note here what the apostle Paul admonished the Church in Corinth to do, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;” NOT A FAITH OF OUR CHOICE, LEST WE BE reprobates; “2 Cor 13:5 (1)Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; (2)prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be (3)reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.” As always please note definitions. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL JUST AROUND THE CORNER By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View As the HISD gets ready for another football season, there are new faces in old places. For example the Sterling Raiders will have the service of former Wheatley standout Kenavis McGhee. A former NFL player and college all-American from Colorado, McGhee is back home and taking on the challenge of coaching the Raiders. With 7 years in the NFL with Giants, Bengals and Oilers McGhee knows the game well and spent last year at Oregon is ready get his feet wet in his new position. Speaking at the annual HISD kickoff diner McGhee made it clear there are some issues to be dealt with. “I’ve already begun talking with my guys about getting past making decision that’s affect them just for tomorrow. “They’ve got to start making decision that will make them better for years from now. The 47 year old McGhee went on to say we also have to convince our kids to stay in the community and understand why other schools are coming to South Park area to get them. Clearly they have something offer and if
they stay they will then be able to help uplift this community. This will mark the 15th year McGhee has been in the HISD following his helping Colorado win a NCAA National Championship. The Sterling Raiders boys basketball team went all the way to state under Andrea Young who is also a football assistant at Sterling. Kanavis feels that’s a good start and the school can build on that. In closing McGhee added with new building going up there is a big positive side to Sterling and it’s up to him and his staff to build on that throughout the community!
The Dean of HISD Coaches is Lamar’s Tom Nolen who will be in his 30th year this fall. Nolen says this is his smallest senior class with only 7 seniors. “I think we’ll be all right by the time district rolls around and the next year we’ll have great senior leadership. The Madison Marlins are still a force to be reckon with after they won the district title outright in 2014, marking the first time in 7 years they’ve done so. Pat Reinecke was very excited about that as have no plans on giving it up. The Might Jack Yates Lions will be seeking their 38th straight year of making post season play.
The 1977 Lions tied Wheatley and did not make the playoffs that year. Their 37 years is the longest streak in the state of Texas. The Lions defense led by lineman Anthony Watts who stands 6 feet 5 inches and weighs in at 293 points and Riamond McCardle at 6 feet 1 inch and totals 275 pound will make it tough on district foes. Linebacker Chris Reed helps the Lions make it tough on foes. But Madison and North Forest are two teams expected to battle the Lions for the district title. According to coach Brandon Ellis the Worthing Colts hope to figure in the race this year also. Ellis says he has some big line-

man and a receiver that went over 1,000 receiving yards as a freshman last year coming back. The Reagan Bull Dogs hope to do more snapping this year according to coach Stephen Dixon after what he believes was an adjustment to class 6A ball last year. “Last year tough us to compete with schools like Lamar, Westside and Bellaire and now the awe factor is gone and we feel we belong. Kashmere is always going to be a force as long as Garry Dunham is the head coach. Also new on the block is Russell Austin at Booker T. Washington.

LAMAR LADY TEXANS WINS HISD VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The school year for 20-15-16 got underway as the HISD held their 34th annual volleyball tournament. The Lady Texans of Lamar high school won the title with victories over Austin in the semi-finals and beating Reagan
for the title. The event was held at the Marc Anthony Pavilion on the campus of North Forest high formerly the old Forest Brook high school campus. The HISD has done a marvelous job of reworking the place and it is an outstanding venue for sports. Lamar’s first year coach Terry
Lambert knows his team will have to deal with Bellaire the district favorite when the time comes. The Lady Birds were in another tournament and won it on the same weekend. Reagan and Lamar will tangle twice in district action and that will go along ways as to how things turn
out. “Bellaire is the benchmark of our district said Lambert and we are trying to close the gap”. Lambert came to Lamar from Richmond Foster high school where he served as their volleyball coach. Christian Patton, Grace Nielson, Catherine Chaney and Jada

Mitchell all made the All-tournament team while Reagan placed Kamryn Linton, Sky Pappillion and Gabrielle Zamora on the All-tournament list. Austin beat BTW for third place while Milby edged Lee for consolation in the annual tournament.
