LEXUS RX 350 5-DOOR SUV Getting into the grove of the model year 2015 we are rolling in the new Lexus RX 350 and yes I would say this is rolling in style. To begin with the new Lexus is making good it being the leader in the industry and if you recall it was the first of the luxury editions of this product segment. Well let me say it has certainly lived up to it’s billing and then some over the years. Powered by a proven 3.5 Liter 270 horsepower Four cam 24valve V6 engine with variable valve timing (VVT-I. This engine is mated to a dynamic 6-
speed automatic transmission with snow mode and full time active torque control all-wheel drive. In this part of the country we don’t have that much snow but the folks in Buffalo, New York could use the RX 350 right about now. Power rolls smoothly to the pavement on All-Season tires wrapped around an 18-inch aluminum wheel. Inside safety comes a premium in the new RX 350 with 10 air bags driver and front passenger front, knee and side rear and side curtains. Sure the vehicle has
anti-locking brakes as well as electronic brake force and distribution and Brake assist. In short that’s all the newest as it relates to safely stopping your vehicle as quickly as possible. There is even safety connect-automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle location emergency assist button (SOS) and enhanced roadside assistance with 1-year trial subscription. Economy numbers are reported at 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway for a combine mileage of 20 miles per gallon. Not bad when you consider all the luxury that comes with the vehicle. A back up camera is also added to list of outstanding safety features. One of my favorite is the Lexus 12-speaker Premium display audio system with HD radio with I-tune tagging USB ipod/MP3 control Sirius XM satellite radio 90 day all access trial subscription. Optional Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound DVD/CD player with 16speakers is also available complete with stocks, sports and fuel prices also. Auto zone climate control system with rear vents adds to the comfort of the interior. A 10way power set of front seats with power tilt and telescopic steering column putting the driver in automotive heaven, when behind the wheel.
Genuine wood interior trim accents the overall layout with easy to read gauges and driver friendly knobs and buttons. The rear seats are reclining/sliding

Still priced very affordable at a little more than 35 Grand we found the new Pilot to be very interesting. Yes with it being home grown at Honda’s Lincoln Alabama plant with both the engine and transmission both built in America along with 70 per cent of it’s parts from the United States and Canada. GALVESTON ISLAND FERRY I have been to Galveston with out of town visitors twice in that past few weeks. Each trip involved a ride across the Galveston-Port Bolivar ferry. I find this one of the most enjoyable parts of a visit to Galveston and, best of all, it is free! I decided to look a little deeper into the ferry service and its operation. Here is what I have found: Ferry Background Ferry service has been a part of the Texas transportation system since the 19th century when the skiff, The Tarpon, began operating from Galveston Island. Later, two barges plied between Port Bolivar and Galveston. These early operations were commercial ventures and only made the trip when they had paying customers. There were no published or regularly scheduled operations. In 1929 the first regularly scheduled ferry service between Port
Bolivar and Galveston Island was established by a privately owned company. At the end of 1929 the company sold its two ferries to Galveston County and the county operated the ferry service for about 6 months. Galveston County petitioned the state to operate the ferries and then sold the two vessels to the State of Texas in April 1930. The first ferry operated by the State of Texas left Port Bolivar on July 1, 1934. Texas operated the ferry service toll-free for approximately six months, but the service was so popular that Galveston County officials asked the state to impose a 25 cent charge to reduce traffic congestion. The 25 cent toll continued, except for a brief experimental period in 1934, until 1949. Since then, the ferry operation has been operated as a toll-free service. The ferry port facilities, staging areas and visitor facilities were reconstructed in 1977 and
The peak months for ferry use are June, July and August. Throughout the year, more than 8 million people use the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) ferry system. The greatest number of passengers carried on a single day was July 3, 1994 when 43,472 people boarded Galveston Island to Port Bolivar ferries. The most vehicles transported on a single day occurred a year earlier on July 4, 1993 when 12,733 vehicles were carried. Galveston Island to Port Bolivar The Galveston-Port Bolivar ferry is the bridge between two segments of State Highway 87. South of IH-10, State Highway 87 is the only highway around Galveston Bay. The free ferry service provided by TxDOT is the only way motorists can cross the waterway between Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island. The ferry service is critical to the residents of Bolivar Peninsula when a hurricane threatens. The ferries are the primary means of evacuation through Galveston to the causeway and the mainland. Ferries continue crossing the channel until high winds and tides make their mission unsafe. The boats are then secured in their moorings at the Galveston landing facility.
merce of the Port of Houston, the nation’s largest inland port, as well as other Galveston and Trinity Bay communities. Approximately 7,000 ships visit the Port of Houston each year. The ferry operation consists of five boats, each of which can carry approximately 70 vehicles, 500 passengers and six crewmembers. Each ferry is capable of carrying eight 18wheel trucks weighing 80,000 pounds each. All of the boats are double-ended with a pilothouse on each end, and the Captain changes from one pilothouse to the other to go in the opposite direction. All of the boats are named after former Texas Transportation Commission members except the Gibb Gilchrist. Mr. Gilchrist was the State Highway Engineer twice during his career with the department. The Ferry runs 24 hours. This is a free service. My Love of the Water I grew up on the water. For most of my young life I lived on the shore of Lake St. Clair, often called the sixth great lake and located between Lake Erie and Lake Superior. I spent a lot of time on the water swimming, fishing and skiing. Although I have no desire to live on the Gulf or other large body of water, I often enjoy a chance to look over the water and wonder what is under me.
Page 6
One of the thrills of the ferry ride are the dolphin. On both trips we saw dozens of them surfacing and frolicking in the water. It is amazing to watch these beautiful animals. I am certain that they swim by the ferry just to show off for the tourists. While riding I think about the millions of creatures below me that we harvest and enjoy. Of course the Gulf shrimp come to mind. We also get snapper, drum, sea bass, crabs and mussels from this bay. From the deck of the ferry you can see passing ships and ships at anchor waiting to load or unload in one of our sea ports. Sea Wolf park is another site just north of the crossing. Another interesting attraction viewable from the ferry is the SS Selma, an oil tanker sunk of the north jetty (see side bar). If you want to have an enjoyable and inexpensive water adventure, take the time to ride the ferry from Galveston to Port Bolivar. If traffic is heavy, park at the provided lot and walk onto the boat. The lot is a great place to share a picnic with a view of the ferry landing, Pelican Island, the Galveston Coast Guard Station and many other things. It is also an interesting place to watch people, another of my favorite activities.
The 2.7 mile trip takes approximately 18 minutes to cross one of the busiest waterways in the world. Through the Bolivar Roads Channel flows the com-
S. S. SELMA The S. S. Selma was an oil tanker constructed by F. F. Ley & Company, in Mobile, Alabama and launched on June 28, 1919. She is the sister ship of the S. S. Latham. On May 11, 1920, the Selma struck a jetty at Tampico, Florida and was damaged. She was temporarily repaired and headed to Galveston, Texas for further repairs. Unfortunately, the repair crew in Galveston had no experience with concrete ships. The government finally decided to scrap the ship. A channel was dug in near Pelican Island, Texas and on March 9, 1922, the Selma was taken to her final resting place. Various plans were made to convert the Selma - a fishing pier, pleasure resort and even an oyster farm - but none ever materialized. In 1992, the Selma was purchased by A. Pat Daniels, retired editor of the Houston Chronicle and Galveston Daily News. Through his efforts, the Selma has been recognized with a Texas Historical Commission's Official Texas Historical Marker and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Selma has even been designated as the Official Flagship of the Texas "Army" and a State Archeological Landmark by the Texas Antiquities Committee. Every year, Mr. Daniels throws a birthday party for the Selma. The S. S. Selma lies on the Pelican Flats in Galveston, Texas.

NATHANIAL ALONZO ANDY GARCIA STUDEWOOD COBRAS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Missouri City, Texas-As the Varsity Cobras rolled to a big 30-7 victory over the North Side Bulldogs to get to the Super Bowl, the outstanding line play led the way. Andy Garcia is the senior member on the squad and he says the line played so much better this year than a year ago. “The blocking was just so much better this time around and our backs were able to get yards much easier”. Garcia who likes Math best in the classroom at Hartman says he plan to attend Chavez and play football for the Wolves. In closing Garcia added he had learned so much while playing for the Cobras football organization and is going to miss them as he moves on after this season. But he made it clear he wants to get revenge over the Lions the only team that beat
the Varsity Cobras this season. He will get his chance on Sunday December 7th at Butler Stadium in the Super Bowl. On the other hand Nathanial Alonzo a 6th grader from Hamilton middle school also like Math best in the classroom but has plans of attending Reagan in high school. “I have been with the Cobras for 4 years and have enjoyed everyone of them“. With an interest in engineering Alonzo says that played a role in his decision to attend Reagan and yes he plans to play football there as well. Just like all of his teammates they are looking forward to facing the Lions in the Super Bowl because they are the only team in the Independent Youth Sport League to have beaten the Varsity Cobras this season. “Yes sir we feel we can play a much better this time around”.

FRESHMEN COBRAS GOES TO SUPER BOWL AGAIN IN 2014 By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Missouri City, Texas-The Freshmen squad of the legendary Walter Penrice are headed to the Super Bowl again in 2014. Beating the South east Raiders 21-7 on a cool wet day just behind the Fiesta Store on Independence Blvd in Mo City. Thanks mainly to the hard running of Janaivian Anthony and the outstanding QB leadership of Clourid (C.J.) Johnson along with Kelym and Kamren, the
Washom Twins. Once the rain came down and the field got a little wet Anthony begin to take tacklers on his back as he scored the Cobras first touchdown. The Raiders tied it up and it would into the half at 6-6. But the Cobras put together a good solid drive with Anthony leading the way and Kelym Washom scored on a short run for the lead. C. J added the PAT with a short burst up the middle. Then in the fourth period Kamren the other Washom twin picked off a
Raider pass and returned it 55 yards for a score. Then C. J threw a perfect pass to Kelym for a two point conversion to put the game out of reach. The defense played very well as Brandon Alvarez turned in some great play at corner back on one side and Kelym help down the other side. Fact is Brandon was so excited when the game was over he said the Freshmen Cobras are the best team in the world and he is very honored to be playing with them. “I’m glad
we are going to the Super Bowl and we plan to win this time”. Once again the line play was the key as Brice Chevalier took charge on the defensive front while Jakenya (Tuddah) Young
led the way on offense. Young is the only female on the team but holds her own and says she is going to be a Beast in the Super Bowl on Sunday December 7th at Butler Stadium!

STUDEWOOD COBRAS VARSITY ROLL OVER NORTH SIDE BULLDOGS 30-7 By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Missouri City, Texas-Behind the Fiesta store in Independence Blvd. The Varsity Cobras made a short day’s work of the North Side Bulldogs 30-7 to advance to the Super Bowl. Longtime coach Reggie Washington and
his staff feel their team is jelling at the right time and the their players are truly learning how to play together. First of all Running back Tyler Brown did it all amassing over 200 yards and scoring twice. Michael Buchanan (99) did his version of the Houston Texan’s J.J. Watt as he dominated both side of the
ball. The lineman plays all positions on offense except Center and just roams all over the defensive line making plays where his coaches need him. The 7th grader at Fleming middle school like Math best in the classroom but says he works hard to make good grades
because he want to stay on the right track. With the game on the line it was Buchanan that kept putting pressure on the Bulldogs and stopping their great running back time and time again. On the other side of the ball he was clearing the way for Tyler Brown big 200 yard rushing day.

JOHN GIBBS LEADS ALCORN BRAVES HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE INTO NRG FOR SWAC TITLE GAME By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Lorman, Mississippi-Former Studewood Cobra QB John Gibbs Jr. will be in the shot gun when the Alcorn Braves tackle the Grambling-Southern Winner in the 2014 Toyota SWAC Title game. Judgment Day will take place at NRG Stadium on Saturday December 6th beginning at 3.00PM. Gibbs a 6 feet 6 inch 220 pound junior is having a pretty good year with the Braves and is certainly looking forward to playing in the Toyota SWAC title game. Having clinched the East Division championship with three games the Braves lost a thriller to Jackson State 34-31 in their regular season finale. But you can rest assure after giving thanks for a wonderful season the Braves will have their eyes set on NRG Stadium. The game is the second in a series of three with last year’s game drawing more than 38 thousand fans. Fact is all of Houston should be out in droves to support this classic display of Black College football. It’s a clear that more needs to be done in the form of group rates so that area youth groups and high school student
athletes can take a more active role in the classic! This way we can fill the 71 thousand seat stadium. In one of Gibbs best games he was super in their win up on the Hill at P.V. in late October as they racked up 77 points. After taking BTW to a win over Jack Yates in the 7th Annual Fiesta Booker-Bryant Memorial Classic 14-13 as Gibbs scored once on the ground and once in the air. Gibbs quickly enrolled at James Alcorn State University, the first Land Grant College in our Nation’s history founded in 1871. The signal caller is pose and has a strong arm yet a soft touch. He talked with us about things like ball placements and the little things QB coach Fred (Air) McNair is teaching him. “Yes sir coach McNair is coaching me up“. Fred McNair the first big time leaguer in Alcorn’s rich traditional history and the older brother of the late Steve McNair. Having seen them all play we feel blessed on this Thanksgiving Weekend. Lord knows we plan be at NRG to our local kid play in the big game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK-BRICE CHEVALIER-COBRAS Missouri City, Texas-line play is By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View very important these days and if you have good line play your chance to win is increased. That was the case as the freshman Cobras faced the South East Raiders for the right to go the 2014 Super Bowl to be played at Butler Stadium on Sunday December 7th. Brice Chevalier number 52 keeps the defensive
line in check and says on Saturday they all lineup the way he wanted them too and that’s why they won the game easily. “Well you know sometimes when I’m telling them to shift over because I’ve got my side covered they listened today and that’s why we won the game. Brice added he feels the only good runs the Raiders got when they were on the muddy end of the field. “We were slipping and they got away from us a few
times for some good runs”. In the classroom Chevalier loves reading with is favorite being Exploratory Tech because his gives you a lot of information about a subject. Looking ahead to the Super Bowl Brice says if the linebackers and safeties are in position and the rest of the D-line lines up where he tells them, they should play hard win the Super Bowl. “Yes sir it’s play hard or go home now!

THE RISING STARS-KELYM & KAMREN WASHOM TWINS-COBRAS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Missouri City, Texas-One year ago the Washom Twins led the flag Cobras to a Super Bowl title and now they are one game away from taking the Freshmen squad to the title. After Janaivian Anthony hard run led to a score and a 6-0 lead but the Raiders scored to tie the game. It was then Kelym Washom scored on a short burst up the middle. “After they called a time out I notice no one was standing in front of me so I went into the
end zone. It gave the Cobras the lead and basically set the tone for the remainder of the contest. Kelym likes Math best in the classroom at school and says he enjoys playing for the Cobras and playing tackle this year is something he has been looking forward to since his flag days. The other twin Kamren picked off a pass and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown. “I was looking at the quarterback like my coaches had told me and when I say the ball I went up and got it then ran it back for the
score“. Kamren said he thought the Raiders was going to catch him but he ran hard and got into the end zone for the score. It just so happen that put the game out of reach for the Raiders. We moved on to chat with Kamren about going from flag to tackle football. “When we first started practicing the new guys had to wear white helmets but as we moved on in our conditioning we were playing tackle and it’s no different to us now”. COACHES OF THE WEEK-REGGIE WASHINGTON-WALTER PENRICE-COBRAS REGGIE WASHI GTO COBRAS
Missouri City, Texas-longtime Coach Reggie Washington and his staff are going to the Super Bowl again. It’s been 7 years since the varsity Studewood Cobras have won the Super Bowl and they are excited to be going to the title game against the Southeast Lions. “Yeh they beat us the first time around and we are glad to be playing them in the championship game. Booker T. Washington high school has been a big force with the Cobras for many years. “King, it’s hard to get to the title game while dealing the obstacles that goes with coaching these days”. Losing to the Lions in the second round of the playoffs last year in the Independent Youth Sports League. “ Some of our kids started out a little selfish but they are coming together at the right time. The Cobras won 30-7 over the North Side Bulldogs to make it to the title game. The offensive line has only one player who is leaving us (Andy Garcia) but the rest of the line will be back with us”. Washington went on to say that he and his staff are working hard to make sure these guys keep in mind the game is for the kids. “The high school coaches don’t come out here like they use too but we’ve got some good kids and hopefully we will be able to keep some of the kids in our neighborhood and yes some of these kids will play at Booker T. Washington”. Having graduated from BTW
himself Reggie says he would like to see the Cobra Nation better represented in BTW Eagles lineup in the coming years. “We haven’t seen big number of Cobras in BTW lineup over the past few years but somehow we think that’s going to change soon”. WALTER PE RICE COBRAS Missouri City, Texas-On a cool and wet day on the field back of Fiesta store the legendary Walter Penrice led his freshman Cobras squad past the Southeast Raiders 21-6 and earned a trip to the Super Bowl to be played on Sunday December 7th at Butler Stadium on South Main street. Their opponent will be the South east Lions a team that beat the Cobras in their last meeting. Having coached for 38 years Coach Penrice says this group of kids are one of the most exciting one he has ever seen. “King, These Kids shock me, man I’ve got linemen telling each other how to block and the (Washom) twins they are leaders on both
sides of the ball”. Penrice also coaches Jakenya (Tuddah) Young the only female on the team. “King Tuddah told me don’t worry she got it and she will keep the offensive line in check and make sure they follow their blocking assignments. “I tell you King, they keep me going because no matter what the play is someone will make sure all the rest of the team got it”. As we talked more with coach Penrice he brought up the fact over the years even with two starters out they played so well together”. Penrice went on to add how hard this group works in practice and some of the parents are working with them in their spare time. The Washom twins are throwing and catching the football and doing things that keeps a smile of coach Penrice face. “I’m trying to tell you these kids are surprising me all the time with what they are doing and the fact they have no fear is amazing, when you consider this is the first year they are playing tackle. Guard Jakenya Young came up to coach
Penrice and says she going to play like a Beast in the Super Bowl. The Cobras will practice once during the Holiday week and after Thanksgiving they will get ready for the Lions. In closing coach Penrice says his team is so prepared and his QB Clourid (CJ) Johnson has the ability to change the play at the line of scrimmage. This team is full of good line play and they work on line play I practice.

WHAT IS TRUTH? THE LESSON: USE THIS WORLD AS NOT ABUSING IT! Dear reader, because of Mr. Prayther and staff, and of course Fiesta, it is again a privilege and a blessing, to be able to share with you, some scriptural truths, for this we are so thankful. We truly hope these articles are taken in the intent that they are written. The intent is not to point fingers at any specific ones, but to expose unscriptural practices that are done by those of us proclaiming Christianity. These exposures are to help us all find the truth, according to the apostles’ doctrine, thereby all speaking the same things, and all ending up in the same place, which is heaven(John17:20; Acts 2:41-42; 1Cor.1:10; Philip.3:16-21). New Testament scripture, is the only place one can find the commandments of Jesus Christ through his Apostles (Matt.28:16-20; John17:20; Acts 1:1-4 and 2:41-42; 2Pet.3:2-3; 1John 4:56; Jude1:17-21). It is the only place the name, Christian, is found (Acts11:26). It is the only place, The Church of and by Christ, the one faith, the one body; that Christ is the head of, and is building, is found (Acts 2:47; Eph.4:3-6; 5:23-24; Col.1:18-19; 2:8-12). It is also the only place instructions are found, by which IT MUST be governed. In the past few months we have studied the things that GOD has chosen (1Cor.1:26-31; James 2:5), again thereby understanding the things HE hath NOT chosen, and WHY (Luke 4:5-7). We believe this is the key to LIVING a 24/7, CHRISTIAN lifestyle. A Christian MUST understand the will of God through Christ and His apostles, in order to live the life that is RIGHT, righteous with GOD; Eph 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that (1)ye walk (2)circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Man teaches that to have Carnal Prosperity in this world is a blessing from God. In our study of scripture we have learned the opposite. We have learned that God has not chosen this type of lifestyle, let alone blessed us with it. Contrary to what is taught, we have also learned, that God has given over these things and this type of lifestyle to the carnal god of this world, which is the devil; for the devil to give to whom he pleases (Matt.4:8-9; Luke 4:5-7; John14:30; 1Cor.10:20-22; 2Cor.4:1-6; Eph.2:1-3; 6:1013; 1John5:17-21; Rev.12:7-9; 13:6-9) . Definitions:(1)ye walk-4043
peripateo (per-ee-pat-eh’-o); from 4012 and 3961; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion or votary), b) Hebrew for, to live 1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself 3) to pass one’s life: KJV— go, be occupied with, walk (about). (2)circumspectly-199 akribos (ak-reeboce’); adverb from the same as 196; exactly, accurately: KJV— circumspectly, diligently, perfect (-ly). We have also learned by scripture, that there is a CONDITION given by the Devil to receive from him; his Secular pleasures and prosperities of this world and the advantages of them. According to scripture this condition was offered to Jesus Christ, and it is the same condition offered to us today; Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the (1)glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. Christians MUST be followers of Christ; note what Christ told the Devil as he REJECTED his offer; Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Definition:(1)and the glory of them-1391 doxa (dox’-ah); from the base of 1380; glory, magnificence, excellence, preeminence: KJV— dignity, glory (-ious), honour, praise, worship. We MUST repent; we must have a change of mind, when we learn better we MUST strive to do better; 2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? God being the loving one that He is, tells us through Christ and His apostles, HOW Christians MUST be in this world and then how one MUST use this world, to be
RIGHT, righteous with Him; thereby avoiding HIS TERROR. (2Cor.5:9-11; Heb.10:26-31) THE LESSO : USE THIS WORLD AS OT ABUSI G IT! A LESSON OF PATIENCE IN THIS WORLD, WAITING ON HEAVENLY RICHES AND PLEASURES; 1 Cor 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; 30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; 31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. 1 Cor 7:31 And they that (1)use this (2)world, as not (3)abusing it: for the (4)fashion of this world passeth away. Dear readers remember as always, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the O LY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect, 2Tim.3:12-17! TYLER BROWN AND JANAIVIAN ANTHONY: COBRAS because they are the only team to beat the Cobras Varsity this year. “Yes sir I want revenge on the Lions because we feel we can play a lot better this time around”. Tyler did just about everything for the Cobras Varsity and can run as well as pass the football making him one of the keys to their title hopes. Later on the same day another
star was shining bright in a hard fought good defensive battle Janaivian Anthony was running very hard for the Freshman squad. “My coaches told me to keep my feet moving and that’s way I was able to get that first touchdown of the game”. Anthony would pick up some key yardage as the Cobras built a big enough lead to coast to a victory over the Raiders and
earn a right to the Super Bowl. “Just run hard that’s what I plan to do in the Super Bowl just like I did today”. At one point Anthony carried three and four Raiders on his back to pick up a couple of key first downs during the fourth period. “My line was clearing the way and basically all I was doing was hitting the hole and running hard they way my coaches told me’!
On Sundays you’ll find the McGowan family at Mt. Pilgrim MBC. One of the oldest well established church homes in the Studewood area.
Giving Bethune Academy a 10 when it comes to school spirit and says she would not change anything if they made her the Principal of the school.
NIA MCGOWAN: BETHUNE ACADEMY
In talking Nia we learned she feels pretty good about President Obama’s Immigration ruling and says it good to help people from another country.
Nia is an outstanding dancer and can do all kinds of dances and added she loves it and always have.
Describing herself at kind, generous and fair, Nia says her math teacher is her most driving force in life outside her parent because she goes all out to make sure they understand what she is teaching them!
Missouri City, Texas-While watching the freshmen Cobras football team put the finishing touches on another trip to the Super Bowl we spotted three or four members of the Cobras
She loves the Houston Texans and J.J. Watt is her favorite player and she also feels the Texans will make the playoffs this season.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK Missouri City, Texas-Taking advantages of good offensive line play the Varsity Cobras running back Tyler Brown did his thing to the tune of nearly 200 yards rushing. It helped to send the Cobras past the North Side Bulldogs 30-7 and earn them a trip to the Super Bowl. Brown who attends Forest Brook Middle school is a 7th grader who likes Math best in the class room. Broke free for just a little more than 99 yards for one score
on a QB sneak. “They were in real tight but I say a little opening and I got through it and it was clear sailing the rest of the way. Brown went on to say he felt great as his O-line did the trick and offered plenty of running room all day long. He is looking forward to getting to the title game against the Lions

cheerleading squad still on the sidelines. When we asked who had the best grades they all raised their hands, but one student spoke and said I’m in the Gifted and Talented classes and that’s the difference in us. Well we decided to make that student our profile for this edition. She’s Nia McGowan a 4th grader at Bethune Academy and she likes Math as a favorite subject. The charming and talented daughter of Monrenika and Arnold McGowan, Nia is one of the captains of the Cobras cheerleading squad and is following in the footsteps of her mother who was once a Cobras cheerleader. It truly goes to show just much of an influence the Cobras football organization has when it comes to the historic background of the organization that will celebrate 40 years in 2015.
With dreams of becoming a Pediatrician in her adult life, Nia has family members who are in the nursing profession and want to take it to another level.
Working with Nikki Penrice and the Cobras cheerleading staff has been a whole lot of fun for Nia. In closing Nia admitted sometimes her GT classes are a bit challenging she accepts it and moves on !
