Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)
TOYOTA VENZA LIMITED Fort Worth, Texas-Here we go again this time it was the Toyota Venza Limited as we made our trip to The Dallas Metro-Plex. In these days when fuel cost is so high it’s rewarding to know that Toyota offers some good
numbers for the Venza with the 2.7 liter in-line four cylinder with 182 horse power and gets 21 miles per gallon in the city with 27 on the highway. If you want more power you can choose the 3.5 268 horsepower
V6 and still manage to get 19 city and 26 on the highway. The All wheel drive models offers great traction and takes only one mile per gallon off those numbers. Available in three trim levels, this vehicle is sort of in between, not to big of a cross over and yet not too little. The LE, XLE and the Limited AWD with price ranging from 28,700 all the way up to 40,200 depending on the options you choose when ordering your Venza. With two rows of seats there is 30.7 cubic feet of cargo space and with the rear seats folded down you are talking about 70.2 cubic feet of space. Over the past two years or so we have made this trip and it has given us a great opportunity to see how our test vehicles really handle on the road. There aren’t a lot of hill on the Dallas trip but we got a chance to stretch them out and check mileage as well.
Once you are inside the new Venza you enjoy the same interior basically in the Award Winning Camry. The fact it sit’s a little higher makes you feel a bit more important, but it also gives you a better view of the road ahead. With wide and flat seats the Venza gives you a chance to sort of stretch out while behind the wheel. The driver friendly instrument cluster is easy to read and all the gauges and knobs are clearly illustrating their purpose.

Toyota has long since went with the JBL for their luxury automobiles Sound system and it has always been a favorite of mind. This 13-speaker system even had my road Dog Thom Walker patting his feet to the Soul Sounds we took along for the ride. In closing please allow me to add this car like cross over vehicle is continuing to make its mark in the crowded Cross over segment of the automobile industry.

TOYOTA AVALON HYBRID BLENDS BEST OF BOTH WORLDS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Just in case you are wondering what would it be like to have a luxury automobile and still get good economy, we have the perfect vehicle for you. The new Toyota Avalon Hybrid simply combines the best of both worlds with this 4-door Limited Edition. Now we are talking a cross between Camry’s practicability and Lexus luxurious over view plus the Prius economical affects. Yes we did mean what we just wrote because it’s true. Starting with the 2.5liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16 valve with VVT-I engine with Electronically control variable timing. This vehicle is also equipped with Hybrid Synergy Drive System. Please don’t let all this talk about the up to date mechanical of this vehicle fool you, this baby can still perform with the best of them. That really clears my
point about having the best of both worlds. Power comes strolling to the ground on 17inch alloy wheels with P215/55R 17 tires ready to match any performance Sedan out there. Electric power steering and front and rear power assisted disc brakes handling the stopping of the Avalon. This system also has integrated regenerative braking all new ways to make the vehicle safer. Fact is when you are following too close the vehicle brake gently while sending you a warning that you are following too close. In the old days you couldn’t have image such an even taking place while you are traveling 70 miles per hour. But it is here and Toyota has been one of the world leaders in this type technology. All of the other safety features you’ve come to expect from Toyota are present on the new Avalon Hybrid including knee
air bags round out the 10 air bags in this model. Basically building a safety net around the driver and all its passengers. Even the NHTSA feels that way as they gave this vehicle and
overall 5-star rating. A top rating of 5-Star for both front and rear seat riders in side crashes. In addition to all of that let me add the new Toyota Avalon is home grown with the Toyota
Plant in Georgetown, Kentucky being the final assembly point. Please allow me to add this vehicle gets a combine 40 miles per gallon of gas. Now that’s truly the best of both worlds?

When the comes to economics this baby takes a seat at the top of the class. Keep in mind we are talking about a price tag on our test vehicle baring eclipsing 19 Grand. Lowered Anchors and tethers for children Latch. The lists includes ABS,TCS,VDC,EBD and tire pressure monitoring. All features normally found on much more expensive vehicles. MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER GT-S REACHING NEW HEIGHTS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View As the model years come and go the new 2015 Mitsubishi GT-S AWC is making a better mark in the industry. Yes it is as we test drove a Diamond White Pearl/Black model the other week and found it to be quite pleasant. The 3.0 Liter MIVEC SOHC 24-valve V6 engine gave us plenty of power and still managed 28 miles on the highway as well as 20 in the city. The new Electric Power Steering added to what was already some nifty handling. This setup is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and Super All Wheel Control with an active front differential. It even came with sportronic steering wheel paddle shifters. You know is usually found on more expen-
sive luxury sport sedans. With Super wide high intensity discharge headlamps the Outlander GT-S is a pleasure to drive at night. Fog lamps with chrome accents help to add the outdoors look of the new Outlander, helping the vehicle live up to its name. LED rear combination tail lights and color-keyed front bumper with silver accent along with color-keyed door handles simply gives off a more aggressive look. That appears to the be the theme for the new Outlander. Once you are inside you are getting the best Mitsubishi has to offer in a quality layout with full easy to read high contrast meter gauge cluster. Known for the illumination lighting Mitsubishi kept up with the style and the vehicle is a joy to drive at night. Seating for 7 with driver mode
selector (AWC,ECO, Normal, Snow, Lock) and combination leatherette and fabric seating surfaces. The front seats are heated and 8-way adjustable for driver and 4-way adjustable for front passenger. A 60/40 split fold down rear seats with adjustable slide and reclining adjustments for 2nd row and 50/50 3rd row seats with fold down feature as well. Plus the rear seats have heat ducks for those cold morning. All the way down to the twotone 18-inch alloy wheels the new Outlander is growing in leaps in bounds.
A 6.1 touch panel display audio system with 8 speakers with Sirius XM radio along with USB ports and steering wheel controls. Rear view camera rounds out these features that includes wood grain appearance and trim panels. When it comes to safety the new Outlander Sports gets a 5-star rating from the NHTSA with 4star for driver and 5-star for front passenger in frontal crashes while 5-star for front and rear passengers in side crashes and a 4-star roll over rating. These are all tops in class. But the real deal is the price at just over 29
Grand as tested. We must also note that 99 per cent of this vehicle parts are from Japan with the final assembly point being in Okazaki, Japan and both the engine and transmission are built in Japan as well. This makes it one of last fully imported vehicle left! In closing we must add the new Outlander GT-S comes with a 10 year/100,000 miles power train warranty and a 6-year/60,000 new vehicle warranty plus 7year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion perforation and 5-year/Unlimited miles roadside assistance. That’s a great package!

TOYOTA SIENNA SE 3.5 CARRIES EIGHT PEOPLE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Year in and year out people keep saying the Mini-van is going to disappear. But thanks to the folks at Toyota the new 2014 Sienna SE 3.5 the mini-van is alive and well. With the capability to carry 8 people comfortably and safely the new Minivan not only is doing well but it
is also looking well in the process. Plus all this rolls down the road on a Sport tuned suspension giving it a quality ride much like that of a luxury
sports sedan. Those are the things that makes these vehicles so much different from their predecessors. When it comes to bringing this mini-van to a stop power assisted ventilated front and rear disc brakes with Star Safety System does the trick. Once you are inside the sporty looking mini-van you are treated to search features as cruise control and a drive indicator 3.5 inch multi-info display complete with backup camera. Keep in
mind we are talking about a mini-van now and not a luxury touring sedan. When it comes the safety the vehicle even has knee air bags another item normally found on Touring sedans. The second row seats have removable captain chairs and the third row seats are 60/40 split and Stow features. Sounds are provided with a 8-

A King-Size View ing but patriotic music and it got me through a long night of driving.
Out and About with John Engel RANDOM THOUGHTS ON A LONG DRIVE I recently had to make a road trip to Northern Michigan. I drove a car up and flew home. I am originally from Michigan but have been in Texas for over 30 years. It was 22 hours of driving over two days and I made some notes of my observations and thoughts along the way.
and most people are quite courteous and move over in plenty of time to keep traffic flowing. In Houston the “Me First” attitude actually causes backups. By driving in the lane that is closing then cutting over at the last moment all traffic in the correct lane must slow down.
We have a lot of agricultural land! There are states that I could drive through for over 50 miles and not pass a large community. Miles upon miles of corn, wheat and other grain crops. In addition I saw cows everywhere. The United States is no longer considered an agricultural economy but farm goods are a huge part of our economy. While on that subject, in Michigan the corn crop was in. The ears of corn are easily twice as large as the ones available to us and the corn is much sweeter. We were buying six for a dollar and the taste was better than anything I bought at a local grocery store. It was also nice to see true barns and silos again.
I-69 will never be completed. If it were to be finished the highway would start in Laredo, Texas and end at the Canadian Border in Port Huron, Michigan. This would truly be the NAFTA Super Highway. Even if it had to be a tolled road in places it would be a great connector to link Canada and Mexico and would pass close to a lot of the major industrial cities in the center of our great country.
Once you leave the major cities, the freeways are in fantastic condition. The Interstate system has some great highways. Even on the roads that are subject to ice, snow and salt the roads are smooth and well maintained. To that end, there is a lot of construction on our roads. In most cases, there are signs several miles ahead of the construction
There are a huge number of busses on our roads. Even though the only true bus line that covers the entire country is Greyhound, there are busses everywhere. Many are local companies that offer service in a limited area like the carriers that service Mexico from Houston, the bus transportation business is alive and well. After midnight patriotic music has new meaning. This is especially true when you are tired and need something to get the blood flowing. I have a playlist on my music player that is noth-
Speaking of late night, I drove through Chicago for many years when I was driving trucks up north. At night WGN is a great listen. On the AM dial (remember that?) at 720, WGN has some very interesting and highly detailed shows. It is a clear channel (no other station in the country can use the frequency with this power) 50,000 watt station that can travel thousands of miles under the right conditions. The night I drive though was a few days after long time radio personality and Saturday Night Live announcer Don Pardo and died in his 90’s. He had worked for NBC in television and radio for almost 70 years. They played some of his old work and did a great tribute to him. Surprisingly, Texas does not have the lowest gas prices in the country. At the time I took the trip our prices in Houston were about $3.20 a gallon. As I traveled, I saw prices in major areas as low as $3.07 and as high as $3.55.You would think with our great state producing most of the gasoline used in this country our prices would be lower, but they are not. The good news is that we are not the highest either. Does anyone remember Stuckey’s? For those that do not, it is a chain of travel stores and restaurants that were known for pecan logs. The last big Stuckey’s I remember was near Winnie on i-10. There were actually two, one on each side of the freeway. Stuckey’s has been replaced by travel stops that

attract travelers as well as truckers. Stuckey’s used to have signs for many miles reminding you how far it is to the next stop. A few still exist, but it is nothing like the Stuckey’s of yesterday. My final thought is about our modern toys. The last time I drove up north I had to actually look at a paper map. Before I left I printed a MapQuest with driving directions and turn by turn instructions. Then I programmed my destination into Navigator in my Android. I also brought my tablet and GPS. Of course it took a lot of cords to keep everything powered. I was able to talk to my family while on the road and receive text messages to read while I was at a rest stop. Our cars today allow us to plug in our MP3 players to

listen to our favorite songs over the stereo. We have Sirius/XM so we can listen to uninterrupted programming all the way across the country. We also have better cars that get improved mileage, are much more comfortable, have better heating and air conditioners and are so much safer than we did years ago with such things as anti-lock brakes and traction control systems. Of course, with all this we rarely take a long road trip. It is cheaper and quicker to hop a plane and get there in a couple of hours. Except, of course, when your connecting flight out of Chicago is cancelled because of weather and you have to fly to Charlotte then to Houston and arrive seven hours later than you planned.. aHappy traveling!

TIGERS CLAWS PAST PV IN ROUTE TO 4-0 START By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The TSU Tigers clawed their way past Prairie View in the 30th Annual Labor Day Classic and keep right on clawing their way to a 4-0 start. Third year head coach Darrell Asberry has the Tigers off to their best start since 2000.
In a see-saw battle the Tigers struck first when Brandon Thomas a defensive back from Sterling high school picked up a fumble and tightrope down the side lines for a 17 yard score. But the Panthers answer when Jerry Lovelocke hit Gabe
Dunlap from 11 yard out. P.V. went up 14-7 when Johnta Hebert ran in from 3 yards out and Chris Barrick kicked both PATs. It was then Home Causey found Malik Cross from 44 yard out and the Tigers used Eric Medina’s kick to tie the score again. Jerry Lovelocke found Nick Pitre from 76 yards out and put the Panthers up again. But TSU got a 30 yard field goal fro Medina to close the gap. Then Homer Causey score on a four yard gallop to put the Tigers up again. Medina who’s from La Porte Texas then booted a 20 yard field goal and the Tigers lead it 30-21. However the
Panthers had another run in them and Lovelocke scored on a one yard run. Fred Plummer grabbed an 27 yard pass in the corner of the end zone and the Tigers went up 37-28. The Panthers last score came on a Johnta Hebert option pass to Gabe Dunlap from 25 yards away and TSU ran out the clock taking home a big 37-35 win. “We are going to do something this year and I hope you be here to see it sir” said Jamal Small. “We don’t ever give up and we keep working to get wins said Daveonn Porter. Homer Causey said the Tigers were just getting started and he looked for big
things from this 2014 team.
Four days later the Tigers rolled past Texas College 52-14 for their second win of the season. The Tigers then traveled to the Bahamas and beat Central State 30-16 as Daveonn Porter ran for twos scores and Small hit on 17 of 31 for two more. This past weekend the Tigers beat Alabama A & M University 45-23 as Small and Causey combined for 15 of 32 for 235 yards and Porter rushed for 128 yards and had 75 receiving yards as the Tigers exploded out the gates for a 4-0 start.

The junior defensive back picked off a pass from JaMarcus Anderson to seal the Rams 28-24 win over the North Forest Bull Dogs. “Everyday at practice I’m giving my all and my coaches told me to always look for the ball when on I’m on defense so when I saw it and went up and got it”. The Rams ran out the last few seconds and seal their second come from behind win. “I guess we had to warm up to what the Bull Dogs were doing and after that we did what we do best”.
When asked how good can this Ram team be Lenton said if they kept the right mind set and keep giving the heart efforts they can
go all the way. “Oh our fans push us and we build on that because we don’t want to let them down”.
In his spare time Lenton caught 2 passes for 108 yards and open the scoring with a 20 yard scoring pass from Christie. GARRY DU HAM KASHMERE A better coaching job has never been done than Garry Dunham is doing at Kashmere high school these days. WHAT IS TRUTH? GOD HATH CHOSEN PT II Dear reader, again we ask the question, why are there so many religious leaders teaching carnal PROSPERITY in this world? According to God through Christ and his apostles HE has NOT chosen it. So, again, is it because of some personal agenda? Could they be HIRELI GS; John 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep; Supposing that gain is godliness; 1 Tim 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, (1)supposing that (2)gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content; So that merchandise can be made of you; 2 Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words (3)make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Why would one teach covetous practices ?; 2 Pet 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; (4)beguiling (5)unstable souls: an heart they have (6)exercised (7)with covetous practices; cursed children: 15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; Again, we know not what their agendas are but the Lord knows. We do know that the Lord loves us, and has but one agenda; “2 Pet 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy (1)conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Definition:(1) all holy conversation-391 anastrophe (an-as-trofay’); from 390; manner of life, conduct, behavior, deportment: KJV— conversation.
Again, there are so many warnings in the apostle’s doctrine, about the things that God Hath Not Chosen; being conformed to this WORLD (Rom.12:1-2), loving this world and the things that are in it (1John2:15-17), loving our lives here (John12:25-26), minding HIGH things (Rom.12:16), or EARTHLY, TEMPORAL, (SECULAR) things (1Cor.1:22-31; 1Cor.3:18-21; Phil.3:16-20; Col.3:1-4; 2Cor.4:18; 5:16). Dear reader, just as the Lord warns us that HE HAS NOT CHOSEN these things, if we truly care about SOUL SALVATION then, we believe it is our DUTY to give the same warnings BY scripture. If we profess to be of Christ and have been baptized into Christ according to the scriptural pattern, thereby putting on Christ (Gal.3:27), then we MUST also heed these warnings, to be right (righteous) with GOD. Remember, the purpose of these articles is to share with you some scriptural truths, thereby EXPOSING ERROR, as we search for “What is Truth”. Again, we believe through the preponderance of scripture (which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture) and definitions on any topic, allows scripture to interpret scripture. This should also allow for a better understanding on that topic, so that we will NOT BE IGNORANT OF THE WILL OF THE LORD. Note the admonishment given by the apostle Paul, to the Church in Corinth.1 Cor 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be (1)ignorant, let him be ignorant. See also Eph.3:1-8 (Please read also the admonishments of the apostles Peter, John and others to the Church; 2Peter 1:1-21; 2Peter 3:1-2; 1John 4:6; Jude 1:16-19) Definition:(1)ignorant 50 agnoeo (ag-no-eh’-o);from 1 (as a negative particle) and 3539; not to know (through lack of information or intelligence); by implication, to ignore (through disinclination) to be unwilling: KJV— (be) ignorant (-ly), not know, not understand, unknown. Remember GOD did not choose CARNAL PROSPERITY for HIS SON and neither did His Son choose IT, according to HIS WORD He has not chosen it for US EITHER. But rather has CHOSEN a MEEK, HUMBLE and LOWLY life on this earth. The Church that Christ is building and is the Head of cannot even THINK on SECULAR things, let alone strive for these things that GOD HATH NOT CHOSEN; and then say, “Lord, Lord” or “We are of God”, and be right (righteous) with God. Please read; “Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. STUDENT OF THE WEEK FIESTA STUDENT OF THE WEEK KEANDRA JACKSON-NORTH FOREST While covering the North Side Shoot-Out between Kashmere and North Forest high schools at Delmar we had and exciting surprise. The North Forest Cheerleaders are sponsored by Tami Smith-Peters a young woman we worked with years ago. Mrs. Peters gave us Keandra Jackson for our Fiesta Student of the week. The senior is the lovely and talented daughter of Jo Ann Lotts and the late Marvin Jackson. She loves Math best in the classroom and is currently holding a 3.5 Grade Point Average and is among the tops in her class. Jackson is also the captain of the Squad but has hobbies that includes track and field. Giving praises to her big
sister Walicia Jackson, who was the top girls track star at North Forest and had plans of attending Prairie View University, but her records were misplaced so she went to work instead. But as we talked further with Keandra we learned she really wants to attend Texas Southern University and to cheer for the Maroon and Gray, while studying to become a C.P.A. This she hopes will lead to her operating her very own accounting firm someday. “Yes sir I’m doing everything I can to get into TSU, because I just love their cheering squad and I want to attend TSU business school”. In addition to running very own business Jackson said when he colligate

When asked about the School spirit at North Forest these days she smile brightly and then said; A 10. “ The students here support one another and all that drama from my freshmen year is long gone”. The soft spoken senior went on to say the Houston ISD had done a marvelous job of handling the transition and their school is tops. “We are sure our teachers care about us now and that love has spread throughout the entire school”. Therefore while you have time, use it to learn and do Gods Commandments for at the end of life is pay time and your pay will be according as your work has been. You will find in 2 Corinthians 5:10 the following: “For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may recive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or evil.” You will find in John 15:14. “Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.” Solomon said in Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain unto wise counsel.” How shall we escape if we neglect to great Salvation: Hebrew 2:1-3 Salvation is to be worked out. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK A’DARRION CHRISTIE-KASHMERE It’s been a long time since we’ve seen one player make such and impact on his team’s victory. A’Darrion Christie a senior at Kashmere did it all in their thrilling come from behind 28-24 win over North Forest. Starting out at Quarterback Christie hit on 8 of 20 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. But in his spare time he punted once for 32 yards and he made two of three points after touchdown kicks. Played some defensive back on the other side of the ball, then rushed for a game leading169 yards on 20 carries. This included the spectacular 48 yard run to win the game with 59 second left. Breaking three tackles in the process and making a big cut near the sidelines to get into the open field, then simply out ran the Bull Dogs to the goal line! In talking with Christie we learned he was somewhat surprised he was the one who made
the winning score. “Well I guess coach Dunham was looking for me to make the big play but really I thought it would have been Donyel ( Glaspie) or Joshua (Lenton) who would have made the play“. Christie went on to say the Bull Dogs had been talking trash all season long and we were just trying to show it to them on the field”. We asked how is they have been
Page 18
wining with only 30 players year in and year out. “Sir I think it’s heart and tradition plus coach Dunham work us hard and we run after every practice, because we have so many players going both ways”. When you look at the Rams rooster you see two position by each player’s name. Having the ball with about two minutes to go the Rams went all the way to fourth down until Christie broke free and got to the 48 yard line for a big first down. It was then he got free on his tackle breaking run to win the game. “Yes sir I felt we would score and win but I had no ideal it would be me doing the honors.

COACH JAMES H. GREEN MADE A STRONG POSITIVE IMPACT WITH STUDENT ATHLETES By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View On Sunday August 24, 2014 long time Houston ISD Coach and teacher James H. Green passed away quietly at his home. Having retired in 1998 after many years Green enjoyed his later years by hunting until his health begin to fail him. He was 80 years of age. Born James Homer Green in Houston on December 28, 1933 to Christine Burton and James Green. After a great career in football and track Green graduated in 1953 from Wheatley High School. But not before he met the love of his life in the late Lizzie Marie Duncan the couple married on January 1, 1955. They were together for 45 years until her death in 2000.
Green was also preceded in death by his sons James P. Green in 2010 and Darrell Phillip Green in 2014. Survivors includes daughters Antoinette and Cynthia sons Michael and Mark, a grand son in Michael II and a sister Mozell Washington. The long lines included former coaching buddies in Kirby Jones and the legendary James “Bo” Humphery to name a couple. Serving as captain of the football team at Wheatley and a member of the All-City Track team, Green was also the President of the Student Council. It was on to Texas Southern University and Green would

There he took the Eagles to the playoffs four years in football and four track district championships and a two second places finishes at the state. All this came after Green further his education with a M.S. degree from Prairie View A & M University in 1974 and an Administration Certification in 1976. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REPORT - KASHMERE RAMS RUMBLE TO 3-0 START By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Kashmere Rams have a little more than 500 students at their campus but if you look at the 30-something football players you’d think they had two thousands students to choose from. Longtime coach Garry Dunham has a special knack of getting the best of out of his players. He has the support of Principal Amber Williams and a fine staff who believes in working hard to get the job done. That’s what happen the past two weeks as the Rams fell behind in each of their first two games only to rally and win. In the North Side Classic a show down with North Forest high school the Rams dealt with the sharp passing of JaMarcus Anderson and trailed three times in the game before pulling out a thrilling 28-24 victory. Using the hard work of QB A’Darrion
Christie both in the air and on land to get the win. Senior setback Donyel Glaspie gave the Rams some good tough yards when needed also. “It was a good game and our coaches told us to play all out and comeback the way we did a week ago”. He went on to say the team for whatever reasons always starts
slow and build as the game goes on. “Well A’Darrion is the key along with Joseph Cormier and Christopher Black and Joshua Lenton along with the rest of us who been here”. Receiver Joshua Lenton had some big catches in the win as well and the Rams played well together down the stretch.
After wins over Wheatley and North Forest the Rams whipped Splendora 40-22 for their third win against no defeats. Donyel Glaspie had 90 yards and a touchdown in 15 carries and he hauled in a 37 yard pass from Christie for another score. He even ran a PAT for two more points. Christopher Black got into the act scoring from 61 yards out as the Rams rolled. Christie had another super game hitting on 7 of 12 for 127 yards and two scores and rushed 10 times for 32 more yards and added two rushing touchdown again. Please see Fiesta Athlete of the Week for more on Christie. In other Houston area games Katy bounced back 63-6 over Mayde Creek after falling to The Woodlands 24-7 a week earlier.
North Shore dropped to 1-3 with a loss to Euless Trinity 29-21. Yates rolled over BTW 43-0 while Angleton blasted Westbury 69-0. Pearland did the same to Pasadena 69-0 and Channelview shut out Aldine 61-0. Sterling whipped Scarborough 39-6. Manvel won over Dobie 35-17. Fort Bend Foster whipped FB Marshall 43-14 for their 4th win against no defeats. Cy-Fair whipped Cy-Springs 56-20 and George Ranch beat Port Arthur Memorial 42-32.
