Resonate and Reconnect
By: Premadasa Gangadeen
It is that time of year again where we find ourselves in the midst of the shortest month with the greatest emphasis on the necessity for romance, which is the union of sharing the same space of boundless love, support and existence with another. True romance is also the complete expression of Yin and Yang to produce a Divine balance of energy. It is also the silent shared spaces in between the inhalation and exhalation.

Use the occasion of Valentine’s Day to either establish or to reaffirm the resonance in your relationship with your beloved. When we are in resonance or harmony with another, we have the potential to experience an energetic churning of energy with our beloved to literally raise our shared vibration toward higher levels or realms of consciousness. When we learn to develop deeper states of presence with another, a great ease and/or bliss within these moments begin to come
into focus, ultimately leading to a greater depth of feeling to be a part of something greater than ourselves.
If you are looking for a way to reconnect with your partner, try the following exercise with them. Commit to a specific time of day and location within your space. Practice over the course of seven to ten days or as needed, and agree to not let anything supersede your date.
The exercise will be split into two. For the first part, sit straight with your spines touching one another. Close your eyes and observe your breath for a minute.
Allow both the inhalation and exhalation to be of equal timing - try seven seconds for a complete inhalation and seven seconds for a complete exhalation.
Once the initial minute is up, focus upon the base of the spine as the next breath comes in. On exhalation, focus on sending the breath straight up the spine and then out and over the crown of the head to then shower the body with the energetic breath. Slowly over the course of your practice, visualize the exhaling breath as a cocoon of healing white light surrounding you. Practice for five minutes total.
For the second part, sit straight while facing one another, knee to knee with your eyes closed. Try to sit as close as possible and comfortably on a meditation cushion or by using chairs for greater ease.
Continue the breath practice with the visualization of a cocoon of healing white light surrounding you for another two minutes. Both you and your partner will then expand this awareness of your cocoon to surround you both for another five minutes. Softly open the eyes beyond the tip of the nose and focus the incoming breath into the center point of your heart and send the exhalation out to the center point of your partner’s heart. Continue for another five minutes. Complete the practice by leaning in for a heart to heart hug and hold the posture for one minute.
