Coeur Mining aims to raise the luster of Palmarejo
The Palmarejo mine in Chihuahua continues to be a key asset for the U.S. miner, which is focusing its capabilities and resources to expand its profitability.
Coeur Mining, Inc. is a precious metals producer with six mines in the Americas. Coeur’s wholly-owned operations include the Palmarejo silvergold complex, which covers an area of 67,296 net acres in Chihuahua.
The complex consists of the Palmarejo mine and processing facilities, the Guadalupe subway mine, the Independencia subway mine, and other nearby deposits, all with exploration targets.
The U.S. miner says the Palmarejo mine is a crucial asset in its business; last year, it contributed more than a third of its revenues. The company is seeking to extend the mine life by approximately eight years. It is currently expanding exploration activities at the Guadalupe and Independencia subway deposits.
Palmarejo started operations in 2009. At that time, the mine had a mine life of between six years. In 2015, they extended their life by another eight years. They are currently planning to expand it for seven more years. There were reserves of about 700,000 ounces of gold and 55 million ounces of silver.
