WELCOME Dear Reader, The crispness in the air is a clear indication that we have reached the end of Autumn and going full steam ahead into the colder winter months. Time is certainly flying by as the kids returned back to school, and everyone is settling into their routines after the holidays. We hope that everyone enjoyed the Easter break and is rested and geared to tackle the next quarter of the year. April has definitely been a distressing month for South Africa. With the famous cabinet re-shuffle causing major upset amongst many, and after the downgrade by both S&P and Fitch, and the possible downgrade of Moody's looming, we have all been following the news attentively to keep up to date with all the current events. We have also seen SA unite at the various protests which took place throughout the country and although we all know that the entire situation is not positive, we have to look forward to an outcome that is going to be favourable to all South Africans. I personally have to say that I could not be prouder of SA for the way in which we came together, irrespective or race, gender or political views. South Africans stood up for what they believe in, fighting for the future of the country and this gives us a sense of pride which keeps us all positive.

In terms of the property market, many have been holding their breath, waiting for the rise in interest rates and inflation, which thankfully has not happened as yet. I think the fact that the Rand has held strong in light of the recent activity, is an indication that SA is strong and that we can still invest with confidence. Back to the lighter side of change, winter is here and we are heading for a couple of colder months. Why not consider taking on a winter project by giving your patio a makeover? It is estimated to have even more of a significant impact on our lives in the next few years. “Due to the demand for saving time, people are opting for virtual offices with the use of technology, or changing working hours to save on travel time and to up productivity. “We have seen a clear incline in buyers including the requirement for additional space for a home office or an additional room which can be converted into office space”, says Craig Hutchison, CEO of Engel & Völkers Southern Africa. The markets have been influenced by this trend in such a big way, that the infrastructure of the suburb of choice plays a big factor when deciding where you are to call home. indulgence Ÿ Photo Ÿ Paper cup
1. Bath Bombs Ingredients Ÿ 1 cup of baking soda Ÿ ½ cup of citric acid Ÿ Fragrance oil Ÿ Non-water based liquid colour Ÿ Witch hazel Method: Ÿ Add one cup of baking soda to your mixing bowl and work out all the lumps. Ÿ Add a half cup of citric acid to the baking soda mix thoroughly. Make sure there are no lumps. Ÿ Add the fragrance oil, the amount is completely up to you. Thoroughly mix into the powders. Ÿ Add your colorant. ONLY use non-water based liquid color. Use your fingers to break up color lumps if needed. Ÿ Add the witch hazel – which you need to add using a spray bottle. About 4 spritzes should get the mixture to clump in your hand when you squeeze it. Ÿ Add the mixture to a mini-muffin pan. Make sure to really press the mixture down hard into your mould. Ÿ Let the bombs stay in the muffin pan for 10 min Ÿ After 10 min carefully turn them onto a sheet of wax paper to let them dry overnight. After which your bombs will be ready to be wrapped or to be put into a glass jar with a ribbon.
2. Picture Frame vase Materials needed Ÿ Clean glass jar Ÿ Spray paint Ÿ Masking tape Ÿ Clear spray paint (optional)

Method: Ÿ Cut out a shape for your photo that you don't want painted on out of the masking tape. Paste it on the front of your jar. Ÿ Spray your jar with spray paint - color of your choice, let it dry. Ÿ You can spray a coat of clear enamel on your jar but this is optional. Ÿ Remove masking tape to show a little window for where your photo will be inserted. Ÿ Cut your photo to size and stick it to the inside of the jar with tape. Ÿ Place your paper cup inside the jar, fill up with a bit of water and insert your flowers.
3. Mint Chocolate Whipped Body Butter
small bowl and gradually add several tablespoons of olive oil. Mix thoroughly and then add to cocoa butter/coconut oil mixture along with remaining olive oil. Ÿ Place mixture in chilled bowl (which should still be resting above the ice bowl) and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Ÿ Remove mixture from ice and whip until stiff peaks form. If after a few minutes it does not seem to be thickening return the bowl to the ice bath and whip there. Ÿ Scoop out and store in an airtight jar. *This body butter can stay fresh at room temp for up to a year.
4. Memory Jar Items needed: Ÿ Glass jar that has a lid Ÿ Rustic twine or rope Ÿ Memories - pics, shells, notes, letters, poems
photos etc. Method: Ÿ Add all your memory items for your mom into the jar, close the jar and wrap the rope or twine around the top of the jar and attach your mother's day note.
5. Fingerprints photo frame
Ingredients: Ÿ ½ cup of organic cocoa butter Ÿ ½ cup organic shea butter Ÿ ½ cup coconut oil Ÿ ½ cup of mild olive oil Ÿ 1-2 teaspoons peppermint essential oil Ÿ 2 tablespoons pure cocoa or cacao powder Ÿ 2 teaspoons naturally derived vitamin E

Method: Ÿ Fill a large bowl with ice, fitting a smaller bowl inside. The inside bowl needs to be able to hold at least 4-5 cups of liquid. Ÿ Using a pot of boiling water with a smaller pot fitted inside, melt cocoa butter and shea butter over a low heat. Ÿ Add coconut oil and melt until completely liquid, remove from heat. Ÿ Measure 5 teaspoons of cocoa powder into a
