Nature lover's paradise The Garden Route Stretching from the South-eastern coast, alongside Mossel Bay and extending all the way to the Western Cape, including the Storm River in the Eastern Cape, South Africa boasts with this eco destination we all know as the famous Garden Route.

ffering the diverse views and enjoyment of mountains and white sandy beaches to indigenous forest with its iconic Yellow wood or Milk wood trees that grow wonderfully in a medial climate very similar to Hawaii. The Garden Route is home to some of South Africa’s biggest tourist attractions and activities, for example The Bloukrans Bridge outside Plettenberg Bay, still recognized by the Guinness World Book of Records for being the highest commercial bungee jump for the adrenalin junkies out there. If that is still not enough, one could enjoy Zip-lining through the forests near Plettenberg with the Tsitsikamma guides. Activity in Mossel Bay, for example, is up by 17% in unit terms (from 879 in 2013 to 1030 in 2014) and 40% in value (from R574 million in 2013 to R807 million in 2014).The picture for Knysna is even better, with units sold up by 37% (from 432 to 593) and 28% more value (R549 million to R702 million) recorded for the year. Plettenberg Bay has also seen one of the best years, with its transactions for the year up by 59% from 311 in 2013 to 494 last year, while the value is up by 29% from R333 million to R429 million. The only exception is George, with only a marginal growth of 3% in the number of transactions (from 973 to 948) and 8% in the value from R639 million to R687 million. “Garden Route areas are reporting a notable increase in interest from home buyers including Knysna, Mossel Bay, George and Plettenberg Bay. Spirited finale with an Argentinean asado and dinner party Employees attended the tournament on Friday in accordance with the dress code “All in White”, and enjoyed an Argentinean asado afterwards in the estate gardens. Then after the final match on Saturday, the private guests were treated to an exclusive dinner party in the grounds. SHA Wellness Hotel sponsored the meal, with products from its own farm. 23 licence partners and real estate agents present their market High potential for synergies within the global network There were other speakers at the E&V Global Event besides the four keynote speakers. 23 licence partners and real estate agents took the opportunity to present their market and exclusive homes on a stage during the property fair. In five-minute presentations they introduced themselves to the audience as partners for cross-selling and demonstrated just how much potential for synergies exists within the global network. The presenters included Giacomo Argenio, Sales Director at E&V Venice. He explained what makes Venice so

Engel & Völkers expanding their footprint to Houghton, Johannesburg Engel & Völkers Southern Africa have experienced exceptional growth this year and the good news continues with yet another licence sold.

P

eter Schubach & Justine Russell, who bought the Parks licence in February of this year opened their first signature shop on 06 July, and are already seeing the success of their efforts.

This has sparked the interest in growing their portfolio in the Engel & Völkers family, and took the step by signing the licence agreement for the Houghton area in August 2015. The Houghton Licence includes the suburbs of Abbotsford, Houghton Estate, Killarney, Oaklands and Riviera. The territory comprises 7.2%estates, 38.5% freehold properties and 54.2% sectional titles. Houghton is an extremely wealthy suburb of Johannesburg, with the most famous resident being Nelson Mandela who owned a home in the area. INVEST IN PORTUGAL - The Golden Visa Programme The Golden Visa Programme launched by the Portuguese Authorities in October 2012 is a fast track for foreign investors from non-EU countries to obtain a fully valid residency permit in Portugal. Under the Golden Visa programme, non-EU citizens simply need to carry out one of the investments set out in the law to qualify to obtain a residency permit in Portugal. This residency permit will allow the investor to enter and/or live in Portugal and to travel freely within the vast majority of European countries (Schengen space). One type of investment that qualify for the Golden Visa Programme is the acquisition of property in the amount of or above € 500,000. In order to prove compliance with the minimum requirements associated with this type of investment activity, the Golden Visa applicant must present a document that proves the purchase or promise to purchase the real estate, and an up to date land registry certificate.

Once issued, the Golden Visa will be valid for an initial period of 1 year and then will be renewed for subsequent periods of 2 years. The simplicity of the Golden Visa Programme implies an extremely reduced amount of requirements being asked from the investor. In general, all investors have to comply with the following requirements: ¡ Keep the investment for a minimum period of 5 years; ¡ Funds for investment should come from abroad; ¡ Minimum stay in Portugal of 7 days during the first year and 14 days during

each subsequent period of 2 years. The Golden Visa Programme will provide investors the following advantages: ¡ No more need to obtain a visa to enter Portugal or travel in Europe (Schengen area) ¡ Living and working in Portugal, even with residency in a different country ¡ Residency extended to family members ¡ Low minimum stay periods ¡ No need to live in the property, which can be rented out to obtain income. ¡ Permanent Residency after 5 years ¡ Citizenship after 6 years ¡ If the holder of the golden visa does not stay in Portugal for more than 183 consecutive days, he/she will not be required to pay taxes for income generated outside of Portugal. Aimed at attracting foreign investment to Portugal, the Golden Visa is a very straightforward and flexible programme, with simple and clear legal requirements. With extremely reduced minimum stay requirements, the Golden Visa is clearly one of the most attractive residency programs for investors in the world.
