Easter Activities Easter basket

Marshmallow Lamb

Rice Krispies nests ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ A plastic basket (the type that pre-packed vegetables come in) Ÿ Craft foam in a colour to match the basket. Ÿ Easter stickers or pre-cut shapes Ÿ Glue Ÿ Green paper - optional INSTRUCTIONS: Ÿ Cut a strip of craft foam and glue the ends to either side of the basket. Ÿ Decorate the basket with stickers or foam shapes. Ÿ Cut thin strips of green paper to make "grass" as a base for your precious Easter eggs, if you like. Happy Hunting!

Easter Bunny Mask

ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ 3 tbsp. butter Ÿ 1 x 10 oz bag of marshmallows Ÿ 6 cups of rice krispies Ÿ Coconut dyed green for grass Ÿ Small jelly speckled eggs INSTRUCTIONS: Ÿ Melt the butter and stir in the marshmallows till melted. Continue stirring until completely melted. Ÿ Pour the mixture over the Rice Krispies and stir until thoroughly mixed. Ÿ Spray a muffin tin with spray and cook and shape the nests with the back of a spoon. Ÿ Let the mixture cool in the pan, once cooled take them out, add grass, fill with eggs!

Carrot candy stick – Easter gifts

ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ Paper plate Ÿ Scissors Ÿ Pink Cardboard Ÿ Glue Ÿ Pink or white pipe cleaners Ÿ Wool or a piece of string Ÿ Hole punch

ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ Orange serviettes Ÿ Green Tulle Ÿ Green Ribbon Ÿ Candy sticks Ÿ Printed Tag

INSTRUCTIONS: Decorate a paper plate into a bunny mask. Mark where the eyes and nose holes should be by holding the plate against your child's face. Ÿ Cut out the holes for the eyes and nose. Ÿ Cut out bunny ears from pink cardboard paper and glue to the plate. Ÿ Use pipe cleaners for whiskers. Ÿ Punch a hole on each side of the plate, and attach two pieces of string or wool on both sides to tie the mask onto your little bunny's head.

INSTRUCTIONS: Ÿ Wrap the unfolded orange serviettes around the Candy stick. Ÿ Tie the piece of tulle to secure the napkin in place. Cut off extra serviette bits. Ÿ Tie the green ribbon around the tulle. Ÿ Attach the printed “Happy Easter” tag.

ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ Large Marshmallows Ÿ White cooking Chocolate Ÿ Shredded Coconut Ÿ Jelly Beans Ÿ Pretzel Sticks INSTRUCTIONS: Ÿ Melt the white cooking chocolate. Ÿ Place small piles of coconut onto the wax paper. Ÿ Completely immerse the marshmallow into the melted chocolate. Ÿ Roll the dipped marshmallow in the shredded coconut to coat. Ÿ Press a jelly bean into the marshmallow for the lamb's head. Ÿ Allow to stand for a bit to let the chocolate set. Ÿ Break the pretzel sticks and insert into the bottom of the marshmallow for the lamb’s legs.

Glittered Eggs ITEMS NEEDED: Ÿ White Easter eggs Ÿ Edible glitter Ÿ Paint brush INSTRUCTIONS: Ÿ Dip paint brush into a bit of water. Ÿ Paint round dots or patterns of water on egg just too wet the white around the egg enough for the glitter to stick. Ÿ Roll egg in the edible glitter.

athrooms endure a lot of wear and tear as it is a vital part of our daily routine. As one of the most important rooms in the home, having a well-designed, good quality bathroom is crucial for your overall enjoyment and satisfaction of your house. However bathrooms also need to be comfortable and functional. “Planning is important when renovating any room of your house. When thinking of renovating, prioritising the bathroom makes sense given the amount of time we spend in them” advises Craig Hutchison, CEO of Engel & Völkers Southern Africa. A bathroom renovation is the perfect time to update your shower, bath and tiles. The extent to which you choose to renovate your bathroom depends on your budget. Choosing how much to spend on your exciting new project is a very important consideration. For a complete overhaul your materials will be the most costly. The tiles, bath and basin are probably the 3 biggest items most people go over budget on. So be careful not to spend your budget on unnecessary items. A good tip is to add 10% to you budget for those unplanned additional cost.

“Collect as many ideas as you can as a new updated bathroom increases your home's value and saleability. There are some horror stories regarding renovating bathrooms. Choosing the right layout, design, contractors, finishes and fittings as bathroom renovations can be a daunting task. If you're uncertain about how much money you should spend on your bathroom renovation, hire a bathroom designer to inspect the room and find a reputable plumber who has a plumber's card approved by the local authorities. Renovations are messy and can take their toll on your house and belongings, try to protect the rest of your house as far as possible while renovations are underway. [3]

Tips to consider: Plumbing: Your bathroom pipes may need to be updated depending on any new fixtures you might be adding. Tiles: choose porcelain or glazed tiles if you want a low maintenance floor. Colour: white, beige and grey are popular colours, plain as it may be they work well as a basic canvas. Alternatively paint or wallpaper can easily add colour to your bathroom if you prefer. Water and electricity saving features: with the correct shower fixtures you can save up to 33% water. Also remember to use halogen incandescent, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) bulbs for the light fixtures to save on your electricity consumption.

Non- permanent items: For added décor if space allows for it, add artwork and mirrors, you can also include furniture. Some bathrooms contain a medicine cupboard for storage of personal hygiene products and medicines. Tough choice: buy or rent?

any of us are often faced with the choice of buying or renting. And even if you already own a home, the choice to upscale might end up with you rather considering to rent a larger home than to sell and purchase another. “There are pros and cons to both,” says Craig Hutchison, CEO of Engel & Völkers Southern Africa. “The eternal truth remains, though, that property continues to be the most solid investment in today's economy, and if you are prepared to hold onto a well located property for a couple of years, you are virtually guaranteed a significant return on your investment.

“It is true that property has become significantly more expensive in the last few years – both as a result of market pressures and interest rate fluctuations, but there is something out there for everyone. Buyers should review their set of minimum requirements when contemplating a purchase – this way, they are sure to find something within their price range.” There are a number of factors that you need to consider when buying a property, especially the various hidden costs. “In a rented property, you don't have to worry about maintenance and even some utility bills that are included in your rent, whereas you need to set aside money each month for ongoing repairs and maintenance to a property you own. However, owning your own property means that you are putting money into your own investment each month, rather than paying someone else's off – in itself one of the best retirement strategies around – even for those in their 20s and 30s,” Hutchison says. You will probably need a much smaller deposit when deciding to rent a home, and you will have more freedom to move around the country, or indeed the world, if you're renting your home, but it's also worth remembering that when your contract with your landlord ends, you have nothing to show for all the money that you've paid across. The Landlord, on the other hand, does! Buying your own property also brings with it a feeling of pride and accomplishment – at last, tangible evidence of the money that you work so hard to earn!
