N
ine times a year we publish exclusive editions of Cornwall Living and distribute them across three of the country’s wealthiest regions, including, of course, London, but also the Cotswolds and Somerset. These collectively reach more than 540,000 readers and, as our exclusive out-of-county property partner, Rohrs and Rowe provide at least 20 pages of property content within every edition of the magazine. Rohrs and Rowe have proven themselves to be one of the modern pioneers of Cornwall's specialist property market. Renowned for their unique take on marketing, they are never ones to stand still and so the opportunity to be the only estate agents to offer advertising in these exclusive editions of Cornwall Living magazine was the perfect addition to their already impressive array of local, regional, national and online marketing. Matthew Rowe explains: "It is a proven industry fact that even in the best of markets, professional marketing of the highest quality will enable an owner to achieve a considerably higher price for their property.” He continues: “Very few estate agents are able to offer truly specialist marketing of the type that our exclusive partnership with Cornwall Living‘s out-of- county editions enables us to offer our clients.” So what does a Rohrs and Rowe marketing package look like? With two professional photographers at their disposal, Matthew
and Martyn place emphasis on stunning photography to showcase a property and its location at its very best. These are then incorporated into every element of each property’s marketing, including brochures o the hi hest ua ity, five property marketing portals – Rightmove, On The Market, Zoopla, Prime Location, and Boomin – as well as via social media and as part of the agency’s annual 500 pages of magazine advertising, thus reaching a very large audience. “Our approach has proven to be extremely effective,” Martyn expands. “Since setting up five years a o, e have had reat success in selling properties across the county, often achieving premium prices that have surpassed even our vendors' wildest expectations. This is a direct result of the best marketing presentation, adding value and attracting the best buyers in the market.” Due to continuing success and high demand for homes in the Duchy, Rohrs and Rowe are in need of more property, so if you’re looking to sell your home but have yet to find the ri ht a ent, hy not ive Martyn and Matthew a call to see how they could help?
DID YOU KNOW? OW? The out-of-county editions of Cornwall Living deliver the ultimate lifestyle by the sea, three times a year, to the highest-wealth areas of London, the Cotswolds, and Somerset. That’s a total of 540,000 readers each year!

magine an island holiday without going abroad: the magical Isles of Scilly are just 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall, close enough to visit for a short autumn break to make the most of the last hints of summer. Scilly is the most south-westerly point of England and whether you sail along Cornwall’s amazing coastline on Scillonian III erry or y ybus you will be on the islands in time for lunch. Greeted on arrival with white sand beaches and clear blue seas, you could be forgiven for thin in you had o n on hau rather than a 15-minute hop from Land’s End, 30 minutes from Newquay or 60 minutes from Exeter. Even the ferry journey from Penzance takes less than three hours! Late summer and autumn is a special time on Scilly – quieter and wilder. The islands are ablaze with wonderful warm hues, the wildlife thriving with activity and it is still warm enough for days spent outdoors enjoying the spectacular scenery. At this time of the year you find somethin or oodies, a ers, wildlife enthusiasts and anyone seeking a little peace. As the islands are near to the Gulf Stream, they are warmer than the mainland
which makes them a haven for migrating birds and ear y o ers Once you set foot on the islands you begin to explore a world of few roads and even fewer cars. Life here moves at a more natural pace and is as relaxing as the rhythm of the tides. You might choose to ramble from the beach to a bar where you can enjoy slow-cooked, local food or you might just sit and watch one of the most awesome sunsets you will ever see. f you stop and listen for a moment, you’ll hear only the sound of the sea and the birds. Waking up at the Housel Bay hotel, gazing out across the Atlantic, and breathing in clean, Cornish air is a tonic for the soul. A stay here, on the UK’s most southerly peninsula, is an opportunity to thro o the confines o the cro ded city and re-connect with yourself and the natural world. The hotel’s clifftop position, with its uninterrupted ocean vista, is a magical place to enjoy all year round. Autumn into winter heralds a coastal colour transition. The bright hues of summer are replaced with muted tones as Cornwall dons its winter coat. Autumn brings with it uncrowded beaches and peaceful footpaths. With direct access from the hotel’s garden gate, this is the perfect time of year to walk the South West Coast Path, discovering the iconic clifftops and coves of the Lizard. Lace up your walking boots and explore the peninsula's vast green landscape and dramatic clifftops. After a good day's hiking, what better than to snu e up in ront o the fire and ta e a breath with nature? If you’re lucky enough to stay at Housel Bay during a storm you’ll be treated to some epic wave watching as the Atlantic breakers pound the cliffs below. Pre-dinner drinks herald sumptuous dining, as even during the depths of winter there are still the freshest and most beautiful local ingredients to choose from, especially seafood. For a true taste of the region, why not indulge in the tasting menu offered by the hote s si nature restaurant, a o fie ds
This is a season for relaxation and nurture; Housel Bay’s new yoga space offers guests the chance to soak up some serenity. Alternatively, curl up in ront o the snu s open fire ith a ood book or enjoy a seasonal cocktail in Marconi’s Bar. This is Cornwall’s quietest season, when epic storm watching and dark sky star gazing offer natural invigoration. You could even brave it and embark on an icy, cold-water dip for that natural high! FOODIE
A CORNISH
ITALY
A treasured family recipe and a fresh idea that started the authentic food delivery service everyone’s talking about. ABOVE é Ugo and Mamma Daniela thinking up the next fresh recipe INSET The award winning TiramisUGO, fresh, light and truly Italian
I
t all started with tiramisu. “I grew up as part of a large, food-centric family,” explains Ugo, founder of TiramisUGO and The Cornish Italian. “I often joined my father Piero to make tiramisu as an aprèsski treat after a long day on the slopes.” This family recipe became legendary, and was always present at times of celebration. When Ugo moved to Cornwall from Italy, he continued to make tiramisu for his friends here, using this simple ritual as a way of conveying his cultural and familial heritage. Ugo recalls that this led to many conversations about childhood experiences, family recipes and food traditions, and about how so many of our formative memories are connected to food. Through the making and sharing of this recipe, new friendships were forged and people started to ‘get’ this fervent Italian when he talked about simple pleasures making for rich moments in life. And so TiramisUGO was born. With the arrival of Covid-19 throwing a spanner in the or s, o identified a ap in the market for high-quality meal boxes delivered to homes, and so called on his mother – Mamma Daniela – to lend a helping hand. The Cornish Italian launched in March , ust ee s a ter the first nationa lockdown was introduced, and focused on delicious pasta dishes based on Ugo’s family recipes and made using fabulous Cornish
ingredients. “Being based in Cornwall we have access to so many amazing ingredients. Cornish beef from Treway Farm, award-winning Cornish Gouda, local milk from Trink Dairy, Cornish butter, and of course St Ewe Eggs – our partners in making criminally good desserts,” says Ugo. “In a nutshell, we combine the best of Cornish and Italian ingredients, shaping these into delicious Italian dishes using our authentic family recipes. Everything is handmade and freshly prepared.” Ugo is now sending authentic Italian meals ready to warm throu h and devour a ays finishin with tiramisu of course – delivered to doors across the UK. All the popular Italian classics are also available, from Spaghetti alla Bolognese to Pasta al Pesto, Ravioli with Ricotta and Spinach, to Mamma Daniela’s signature Lasagne, with new dishes and seasonal specials being introduced all the time. What’s more, if you don’t live in Cornwall you can still access this fantastic canine range online and have it delivered direct to your door! Slings Using a sling is a great way to evenly distribute the weight of your dog, making it easier than ever to carry them. Whether you use it for public transport, to keep young pups by your side, or to help older dogs keep up on those long summer walks, a sling can be used all day, relieving tension in your neck, back, shoulders and arms. All slings are manufactured in the UK, supporting British businesses.
Waterproof slings These are inspired by Slickers’ original dog slings, but come with added features and a waterproof fabric to keep your dog warm and dry in the rainy weather. After listening to customer requests, the slings now have a handy pocket on the strap for your phone for easy access. They also include a rain cover for your little one to hide under if they're having 40 winks or just need to take shelter from the rain. An incorporated eyelet strap allows you to secure the cover down, or alternatively keep it loose depending on your pup’s needs. Finally, for added security an adjustable clip restraint has been incorporated to keep your dog secure, as well as D-rings on the inside and the outside of the sling in order to attach accessories such as treat bags. arnglaze Caverns is a family run business with much for everybody to enjoy. The caverns can be found amongst 6.5 acres of ancient oak woodland in the steep-sided Loveny Valley, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor. Initially, there was an open-cast quarry on the site, but some 300 years ago the miners started to go underground too, resulting in the formation of three hand-dug caverns of cathedral proportions. During a tour here you will go about 150 metres into the hi side and be o round rom the first chamber, which is fully accessible, there is a i ht o steps do n to the other t o chambers. In the lower chambers you will find the under round a e ith its crysta clear, blue-green water. The caverns are at a constant 10°C underground, so a jumper and sensible footwear are recommended! arn a e is a so home to five recorded species of bat, some of whom sleep and hibernate in the unlit areas, and whilst it is a wonderful sight to behold them, visitors are as ed to s itch o any ash settings on cameras and phones, so they are not disturbed. Delving deeper into the history of this site, we learn that during the Second World ar, the oya avy used the first chamber to store its supply of rum for its base at
DID YOU KNOW?
Devonport in Plymouth. Local folklore has it that you could smell the rum at the junction with the A38 – about a mile away! In December 2002, the chamber was converted into an auditorium with seating for 400. Fast forward to now, and the slate walls and roof form a stunning backdrop for events of all kinds. A truly unique performance venue, due to the shape and height of the cavern, the acoustics are simply astounding, and in fact the venue has been acclaimed by many of the local and international artists who have performed here. With a fully licensed bar open on concert nights, and a catering unit in the gardens serving snack food at most events, be sure to keep an eye out for 2021 concert dates. But be quick – tickets are sure to sell out fast!
